The first annual Boston Book Festival kicks off this weekend in Copley Square, and two Boston-based etherweave clients are featured presenters—Elinor Lipman (The Family Man, Then She Found Me, The Inn at Lake Devine) and Tom Perrotta (The Abstinence Teacher, Little Children, Election).
A number of etherweave friends will be there, too, including Stace Budzko, Andre Dubus III, Joseph Finder, Ethan Gilsdorf, Jennifer Haigh, Bret Anthony Johnston, Scott Kirsner, Hank Phillippi Ryan, and Anita Shreve.

Keep your eyes peeled for even more Boston area literary greats! We've heard that Christopher Castellani, Michael Lowenthal, Scott Heim, Stephen McCauley, Mameve Medwed, Heidi Pitlor, and more will be making the rounds.
This month Canadian author and journalist Michael Rowe, etherweave client (and dear friend), began writing for the Huffington Post. His most recent column, "What an Ogress You are, Congresswoman Foxx", appeared today, in which Rowe mercilessly excoriates one of the more extreme representatives in the United States Congress (a Republican from North Carolina) for her bigoted speech on the House floor in opposition to new hate crimes legislation. Bravo, Michael! Other recent entries offer perspectives on Cuba (Canada has a normal relationship with that country), as well as the recent defection of Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) to the Democratic Party.

Boston-based author Scott Campbell's latest novel Aftermath has received a lot of pre-publication buzz for being one of the few original works of fiction adapted to film before the book was published. German director Caroline Link's new film, "Im winter ein jahr" ("A Year in Winter") debuted at the Toronto Film Festival to much critical acclaim. Mr. Campbell's new Web site, at www.scottcampbellbooks.com features all the details, including a trailer of the film, information about his two previous works—Touched, a novel, and Widower, a non-fiction title—as well as Mr. Campbell's new blog.

Critically-acclaimed author Scott Heim launched a redesigned Web site today at www.scottheim.com. Heim achieved literary fame with his first novel, Mysterious Skin (HarperCollins, 1995). The book was later adapted to the screen by director Gregg Araki in 2004. The new Web site, including a redesign of Scott's popular blog, "Noise," coincides with the long-anticipated publication of his third novel, We Disappear (HarperCollins).

Creative writing non-profit organization Grub Street re-launched its Web site today at www.grubstreet.org. The complete, floor-to-ceiling makeover reflects the organization's explosive growth and popularity in the greater Boston area. Grub Street, based in downtown Boston, offers dozens of writing workshops each season, and hosts well over 100 community events—seminars, readings, weekend classes, and more—each year. The redesign coincides with two big milestones for Grub Street: the publication of Born Before Plastic and the 7th annual Muse and the Marketplace conference. Born Before Plastic is the culmination of Grub Street's first Memoir Project, through which senior citizens from neighborhoods around Boston were coached through the process of writing down their own stories for posterity. The Muse and the Marketplace is Grub Street's hugely popular annual literary conference, which will be held on April 26-27 at the Omni Parker House in Boston.

As part of etherweave's ongoing relationship with the Melanoma Foundation of New England, for whom a redesigned Web site was launched earlier this year, we have designed a new site to promote the Foundation's unique SportSunShelter program at www.sportsunshelters.com. The shelters' innovative design and fabrication allow communities to obtain high quality sun protection for athletic fields at an affordable price.
