Goodbye Winter in Germany

I am finally saying goodbye to winter in Germany. No more snow, no more wearing of thick jackets and winter boots! I love it when summer is here. It is chilly sometimes but very better than having a snow. During the first two weeks of May, we still turned-on our heaters since it was cold especially during the night. I am thankful that I survived again another cold winter in Germany! I am finally saying, hello summer!

Oktoberfest in Munich

This event is a very important part of Bavarian culture having been held since 1810. Around six million people are visiting this festival every year.

Neuschwanstein Castle

This fairy-tale castle commissioned by King Ludwig II of Bavaria has been a magnet to tourists around the world. Neuschwanstein Castle was the inspiration for Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle. It is considered to be one of the most-photographed buildings in Germany. This palace has a Romanesque Revival architecture and is located on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southwest Bavaria.

It is listed in the the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1981, including its Court Gardens and Residence Square. The Residence in Würzburg has one of the finest Baroque architecture in Europe. No wonder it was dubbed by Napoleon as the "nicest parsonage in Europe".

The old city of Wuerzburg is also worth to explore. Don't miss the Old Main Bridge and Fortress Marienberg in your sights to see.

Successful Birthday Celebration in Hemau

It was so far a wonderful weekend last week. Although the weather was still quite cold, it did not hindered the success of the party. We attended a birthday celebration in Hemau and it was truly a blast! Everyone enjoyed it.

Some friends brought some birthday presents. I am not quite sure if somebody gave certified Kosher gifts. Some friends gave some wines and alcoholic drinks. A lot of Filipino foods and delicacies were also served. The fun in karaoke singing during a Filipino party is always present. I admired the singers with superb voice that night and of course including those who tried to share their songs for the birthday celebrant.

I guess the highlight of the party was the night-out we had in Funpark in Regensburg! It was truly an enjoyable evening!

We just visited Nuremberg last week and I forgot to look for contemporary fabric which I needed for some costumes. I guess I am coming there again anytime next month.

You can go to Galleria Kaufhof, City Point Center and other stores in the Old City. If you love crafts, Handwerkerhof is the best place for you to go. You will feel like shopping during the medieval times if you enter this so-called "Medieval Mall", located adjacent to the tower at the Old Town gate (Am Königstor) opposite the main railway station.

If you have been to Prague, Czech Republic, you might be able to see a bridge that almost resembles the Old Main Bridge in Würzburg, a lovely city in the state of Bavaria (Bayern in German) in Germany.

The Old Main Bridge, called in German as Alte Mainbrücke, was built on 1473–1543 to replace the destroyed Romanesque bridge from 1133. This impressive bridge was adorned from 1730 on in two phases with well-known statues of saints and famous persons.

I have been to this city for a lot of times and always love to come back from time to time. Here are some snapshots I took during one of my visits there.

Pinay-German's Spain Trip is Over

It seems that like yesterday when I was in Spain. Now I am back home again and also back to reality. Reality because it seems like a dream when I visited Spain for the second time. It is two weeks now since I am back. I am glad that through that three weeks stay and travel, I gained a lot of lessons in life and priceless experiences. I met new good friends and acquaintances in Madrid and I am happy about it.

There was one nightmare that happened and I truly learned from it. I wish to share about it when I have more time. Thanks to the help of plastic which helped me survived and cleared the automated clearing house. Credit cards can surely help you in times of financial emergencies but be aware, you need to know your limit.

Among the many travels that I had, I believed the one I had recently in Spain was the most exciting and challenging one. I can only say one thing, "when you travel, you have to be always prepared for whatever situation and adversity that may come along your way." Trust your instinct and believed in yourself and I believed you can overcome all the trials and problems that may come your way. Be careful and always take safety measures.

I am very thankful that I survived the three weeks I adventure I had in Spain last month.

Walking Around Kaiserslautern

I was browsing some old albums awhile ago and found some pictures from Kaiserslautern. This city is called K-town by American friends. There is a U.S. Base near this area. Ramstein Air Force Base is also located some kilometers away from Ktown.

It was sometimes in 2007 when we had a sightseeing in this city. I can still remember it because it was my birthday. I even recalled eating a pizza ice cream with friends in one of the cafes there. You might be thinking that traveling can lose weight because you keep on walking? Not really, because for me I also eat a lot when I travel. This is one of the disadvantages when I travel anywhere. Warranty for Electronics in Germany

This is one thing I like when I shop for electronics and gadgets in Germany. There is always this so-called warranty or guarantee. I remember when I bought a Sony camera two years ago. I dropped it down and it won't work anymore. Good to know that it was still on the warranty period and it was replaced with a new one. I was quite happy about it.

One friend also sent me an email last time. He ask me if I can buy him some music gadgets from Sony. I told him that it is quite not a good idea because the shipping alone from Germany to the Philippines already cost some amount. I advice him to go online and browse for it or maybe he can visit the nearest Sony store near his place. I love Sony brand and even bought another digital camera with DSCW-510 model.

Also letting you know that when you buy an electronic or gadget in Germany, the warranty is usually up to 2-3 years depending on the company or product.

Frühlingfest, Spring Festival in Nuremberg

The festival season seems to begin now in some parts of Germany. You can already smell the aroma of candied almonds in the air. For beer-lovers, they will surely enjoy their favorite beers while listening live bands and musics inside the beer tents. Carnival rides such a roller coaster, frisbee, drop tower, loop rides, etc. will surely give fun to the young and adults. You can also try some German delicacies like the crispy yummy roast pig's trotters, ox on the spit, chicken or grilled fish. Some or maybe all of these can be experienced in any German festival.

The Frühlingfest or Spring Festival has just begun in the city of Nürnberg (Nuremberg) in Bavaria, Germany. This year's festival started last April 7 and will last until April 22, 2012. You will surely have a lot of fun there just like me. Many would surely enjoy the food. For those who are not afraid of the heights or speed on the rides, you can surely enjoy some carnival rides.

The Spring Festival in Nuremberg is held yearly on the Funfair Grounds near Dutzendteich lake. It is visited by around 2 millions of people every year.

Fc Bayern München Won Against Olympique de Marseille

How about a sports update for today? Since Germans truly love sports especially Fussball or football, I would rather share something about the game I witnessed tonight. I was watching the play between FC Bayern München (Munich) versus Olympique de Marseille. During the first half, FC Bayern already scored two and the latter zero. It was so far a very interesting game full of energy. Ivica Olic from the FC Bayern team scored the first goal on the 13th minute. The more offensively-minded David Alaba created the second goal with a lung-bursting run down the channel that was matched by the quality of his delivery. It was a perfect one!

The German team is now advanced to the semi-finals in routine fashion, with two first-half goals. This will allow them to book a date with Real Madrid or APOEL.

German- American Volksfest 2012 in Hohenfels, Bavaria

The most awaited German-American Volksfest is almost coming. You can enjoy the carnival rides during this festival. You can also hear the different music played by various bands at the festival tent. Did you see the stage where the bands play inside the tent? I am wondering if they use Vestax equipment when they play their music. I bet you guys, they are playing good because I already witnessed a lot of times how they performed. You can try different delicacies during he festival, from German to Asian, American, Mexican, Hungarian and many more.

Visit to Weissenburg in Bavaria

It was three months ago when we visited this town in Bavaria, Germany. Weissenburg, also written as Weißenburg in German, is located in central Bavaria, in the south of the administrative region Mittelfranken. Despite having no snow last January 2012, the weather in this town was very cold. We walked around the walls of the town and in its historic sights.

Among the sights to see in this town are the Ellinger gate, the Gothic Old Town Hall, The Roman Bath, the city walls, St. Andrreas Church and a visit to the historical fortress which was originally a Benedictine monastery in Wülzburg.

The visit we had to this town was worth it despite the very cold winter weather.

The Ellinger Tor or Ellinger Gate is one of the most beautiful historical gates in Germany built around in the 14th century.

The walls that surrounds Weissenburg is still intact today. We visited this town last January 4, 2012.

The history of Weißenburg is generally traced back to the Roman fort that was built in the area towards the end of the first century. Do you always take some souvenirs with you everytime you visit a certain place or country? If you have to ask me, I would say, Yes, I do! I always see to it that I have some souvenirs that I took home when I visit a certain place.

Taking for example our trip to Rothenburg ob der Tauber last year in summer, I bought again some souvenirs like postcards, a magnet and a plate like what you see in the image here. There are a lot of stores and shops in this city but I never find plastic stanchions in one of them. I guess I need to go to a special store that sells like this one.

My third visit to Rothenburg ob der Tauber last July 2011 was a great one. I love this German city and I still want to go back there in the future.

My Travel Gadgets

I am trying to think how many travel gadgets I bring with me everytime I travel. Last week, when I was walking on the street of Madrid in Spain, I met a lady from Venezuela. I approached her asking if she want to go with me for a sightseeing tour in Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid. She did not hesitated to go with me so we went there together. She noticed that I had a lot of cameras with me and asked me if I am a professional photographer. I told her, "No, I'm not. I just love taking pictures everytime I travel".

Yes, I always bring with me important travel gadgets when I go anywhere. One of the most important ones are my three digital cameras, a laptop, two cellphones, pen and paper and an ipod. I even bought an ipod nano case in one of the shops in Madrid. I forgot to buy a case for my new Iphone which my sister had given me. My travel gadgets especially my cameras truly help me in making my trips more memorable. Through the images I took, I can always turn back time everytime I look on those travel photos.
