EU Creates Fund to Promote Green Technology

EU creates new fund to promote innovative green technologies, announced the site BusinessGreen. For funding can apply mostly small and medium businesses with environmentally friendly products and production.

The fund has at disposal 35 million euro and aims to give an initial impetus to companies to help them overcome market barriers and become leaders in green business in Europe.

Successful projects must be innovative and have a positive impact on the environment, efficient use of water and energy resources. They will also gradually increase the proportion of recycled materials in their production and create quality products with the least possible environmental impact. Priority will be given to proceedings which take into account the whole product life cycle, from production to disposal to landfill, and projects for production of eco energy and energy efficiency, including energy efficiency in industry and transport.

European Commission (EC) published a call for proposals for eco-projects to be financed by the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme.

Eligible activities:
The eco-innovation funds under this call for 2010 are for new projects in the following areas: recycling of materials, construction materials, qualifying for sustainable development projects in the sector of food and beverages as well as environmentally friendly business practices.

Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism launched the selection process for proposals for the scheme “Development of innovative start-up enterprises through support for introduction of innovative products, processes and services’ under OP "Competitiveness" 2007-2013.

Aim:
The main aim of the procedure is to provide integrated consulting and investment support of innovative Bulgarian start-up companies in implementing successful projects for implementation in the production and marketing of innovative products, processes and services (which should be the result of embedding innovative process or product) with high added value.

About the project

In October 2009 started a Project for Transfer of Innovation called “The EQF as a Framework Linking the Different Qualifications Systems of Production Managers Together”, in which Europa Line Group S.A. is a partner. It is co-financed by the European Union „Lifelong Learning Programme” and involves eight organizations from four different countries – Bulgaria, Greece, Poland and Slovakia*.

The main objective of the project is to work out, within 2 years, a model programme for educating organizers of production processes that would meet the needs of market economy.

The long-distance objective of the partners is to promote the standard of a new profession and enter it in national classification of professions. Therefore, the most important task of the Project is to create training modules in accordance with the international MES methodology (Modules of Employable Skills) for the employees dealing with production process organization and to transfer them into the European Qualification Framework. It is a solution recommended by the European Commission which allows drawing comparisons between qualifications of the people in training and of the employees in the EU states.

Development of the project

In February 2010 Europa Line Group S.A. conducted a survey among Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) in Bulgaria within the framework of the project. The survey was aimed at collecting opinions about professional task to be performed by the Production Process Organizers and was executed in the first stage of the Project.

The observations of the Bulgarian business will enable a more adequate professional task description for Production Process Organizers in companies. It is especially important as the tasks of Production Process Organizers tend to be dispersed among several job posts. Our intention is to gather and structure professional tasks within one particular profession, job or workplace.

The results of the conducted survey were presented during the partner meeting, held on 22^nd – 23^rd March 2010 in Zilina, Slovakia. The conclusions helped for preparation of correlation table of tasks and professional qualifications. This matrix will be used to prepare training modules. The evaluation methodology and project promotion plan were presented during the meeting either.

A continuation of the meeting in Zilina was the expert meeting, held on 21^st May 2010 in Lodz, Poland, where the issues related to the professional tasks that fall within the responsibility of the production process organizer were discussed.

The next project meeting will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria.
