• Mark Todd and Gandalf have missed the cut for Equestrian Sports New Zealand’s 2010 eventing squad.
• Jersey Fresh event, which was in danger of being canceled this year, definitely will be held in 2010.  The future of the 2 and 3-star event was a question mark this May due to financial instability. But the New Jersey Department of Agriculture confirmed last week that the event will take place over Mother’s Day weekend next year.

• British Eventing (BE) is hosting a series of eventing safety forums around the country this month to share ideas with the public. BE’s national safety officer Jonathan Clissold will be presenting at all four forums, joined by BE’s national safety committee chairman Iain Graham and course-designer Adrian Ditcham.
• The USEA Youth Board will be awarding Youth Board Advancement Grants at the end of this summer to two deserving Junior or Young Riders. These grants will provide an opportunity for each selected rider to spend two weeks working and training with either Gina Miles of Boyd Martin.

• King Pin’s cause of death at Rolex was ruled a hemorrhage of the large vessels in the abdomen, unrelated to any jumping effort or trauma. “This is a very rare condition and the actual cause is unknown,” according to Dr. Christiana Ober, the Canadian Eventing Team veterinarian.

• Event rider Ian Olding was killed in a fall at Belton Horse Trials yesterday.  Our thoughts are with Ian’s family and the eventing community.
• Ian Stark will take over from Sue Benson as cross-country course-designer at Bramham Horse Trials next year.  This year marks Sue’s 10th as designer at Bramham, but she will now step down to concentrate on designing the course for the 2012 Olympics in London.
• Megan Jones (AUS) is running away with the 2009 HSBC FEI World Cup™ Eventing after two wins in as many outings. She is now guaranteed a place at the HSBC FEI World Cup™ Eventing Final at Strzegom (POL) in August, having followed her win last month at Kihikihi (NZL) with another victory at Sydney’s Weekend of Equestrian World Cups (AUS) on the same horse, Kirby Park Irish Jester.

• The USPC Eventing Committee has just announced approval of the Eventing Grand Prix Award. USPC Preliminary Eventing riders from around the USA can win an all-expense paid trip to Ireland leaving Tuesday August 4, and returning Friday August 14, 2009 by being the first placed team at the USPC Eastern Championships 2009 to be held in Lexington, Virginia, Thursday July 23 – Saturday July 25. Although the Preliminary Division at Eastern Championships is a recognized USEA “closed” event, the scores may be used to qualify for moving-up, competing in a One Star event and/or the American Eventing Championships.
• Will Faudree’s long-time partner Antigua will officially retire from competition at the Southern Pines HT on Sunday, March 22. The 20-year-old Australian Thoroughbred (fondly known as “Brad”) will bid a fond farewell to his fans after successfully completing many CCI4* events in his long career and representing the U.S. at the Pan American and World Equestrian Games. This is a special edition of the Eventing Radio Show.  Red Hills Horse Trials, one of the premier events in the USA, canceled it’s March show this week due to lack of entries.  This is a blow for the eventing world and we wanted to give the organizers a chance to explain what happened and why they cancelled.  We also speak to several other guests including Event Organizer Robert Kellerhouse, International Eventer Amy Tryon and CEO of the USEA Jo Whitehouse.
