With some new lens kit arriving in time for the first All-Ireland final at the beginning of September, the low-light test was in The Hole In The Wall, one of Kilkenny’s oldest venues and home for the foreseeable future of a new music series called Songwriters In The Round.

The night was being filmed for SoKilkenny.com, one of our biggest content products to date (if not the biggest) and while you can find photos and videos from the night there, here’s a look at how the videos turned out.

The below videos were shot on a mounted Canon 60D using a Sigma 70:200 F2.8 lens with a stereo mic pair picking up the audio in the room, synced through Final Cut Pro X.

Branding work continues on So Kilkenny as the project nears launch in November 2014. These are the first round designs for business cards for writers and editors on the project.

The cards are printed on a 400gsm silk artboard with a gloss finish.

This is the final artwork produced for The Devious Theatre Company‘s Some Flood, opening tonight at the 2014 Tiger Dublin Fringe festival.

The poster builds on one created for the initial development run of the show, incorporating new images from Dublin-based photographer Kasia Kaminska.

Flown all the way in from Tiblisi, Georgia, the Basiani Ensemble are a polyphonic male voice choir (the state ensemble of Georgian folk song) and we picked up some video of them in Butler House Gardens at the launch of this year’s Kilkenny Arts Festival before they performed to a packed St. Canice’s Cathedral audience later that night.

We began our coverage of the 41st Kilkenny Arts Festival yesterday with a trip to the Heath Quartet at St. John’s Priory.

Resident in Kilkenny for the full duration of the festival, the group are performing a complete cycle of Beethoven’s string quartets at 1pm each day through to Sunday 17 August. Yesterday was a real treat.

With the Samsung Galaxy S5, however, the approach is a little different and rather innovative. Slide across the screen from right to left with the side of your hand, the screen will flash, and your screenshot gets saved out to the gallery. Handy!
