I updated the PHP Version for this Website and predictably it broke everything. I am in the process of fixing it, however there may be problems I don't see, so if you come across an error or video that doesn't work let me know.

The ISK Guide has been updated to work, however all other paid guides are broken. Fixing them is tedious because I have to remake every single page one by one. I will grind it out and get them back up here.

Glad the guides are still helping so many people despite their age. Thanks for supporting this website.

UPDATE 4/19/20:

The Ninja Pilgrim Guide is fixed and working. So is the ISK Guide. Will get another done tomorrow.

UPDATE 4/20/20:

The Wolf Guide has been fixed.

The SFI Guide has been fixed.

The Hurricane Guide has been fixed.

UPDATE 5/3/20:

Shield Boosting Guide has been fixed.

My other business has been busy so I haven't had time to fix the last few. I think it's just the Brutix and Frigate Guide left now. Hopefully those are done in the next week.

UPDATE 6/26/20:

Brutix Guide is fixed and working. That just leaves the Frigate Guide. I left it for last because it's the biggest. If you need access let me know and I will make it my priority.

UPDATE 7/2/2020:

Frigate Guide is fixed. Everything on the website should be working 100% now. Let me know if you see any broken pages or links.

A few nights ago I was driving home at almost Midnight in my home town Gainesville, Florida. I had just left a gas station and was looking forward to a few hours of Overwatch and Netflix before bed when I saw the most amazing natural phenomenon in my life.

Many on social media are calling it the Green Meteor, Florida Meteor, and March Meteor.

It was what Scientists call a Fireball Meteor. But in the moment, in my shocked state it was just a super bright Blue Green "Something" that shot out of space directly at the ground ahead of me.

My initial unedited response was to take my foot off the Gas, and yell "What the F*** was that?!?" which I followed with some other slightly embarrassing phrases that didn't make the video like "THAT WAS F***ing AMAZING!" and "HOLY S***."

I immediately remembered the Chelyabinsk Incident where a Meteor Air Burst blew out windows for miles, hospitalized 112 people and injured many more.

But after a few moments passed with no boom, my shock and anxiety turned into exhilaration and excitement. At which point I said out loud to my self "I'm definitely checking the dash cam footage!"

When I did, this is what I saw:

Believe me when I say the video doesn't do it justice. It was brighter, and it was bigger to the human eye as opposed to my Dash Camera.

It started above the frame about a second before it appears in the video and got larger as it fell. Also, there was a very green look to it that isn't well represented in the video.

When I got home, I couldn't wait to post it on YouTube and Twitter so other people could see it.

I knew it wasn't common to catch such big meteors on camera, but I had no idea how much attention it would get, or even more so, how FAST it would get attention across the world.

Within minutes I was getting hundreds of likes and retweets. Then the media requests started. First local news. Then news agencies around the world. One of the first being from Japan!

Everyone wanted permission to use the footage. Being that I had never had a viral YouTube clip before, I had ZERO idea how to respond. So I decided to just let everyone use it with credit to me, and only for news purposes.

Should some Documentary or Film want to use it, I will have to figure out some fee to charge.

At one point in the night, just before bed, I was getting so many notifications on Twitter and YouTube that I couldn't keep up. I would read 20 and then update and there would be 40 more.

So I gave up and started again in the morning. The notifications still coming fast, but manageable, I was able to respond to and see most of them.

Fast forward to today and I was out doing news interviews for the local ABC and CBS News. Looking a bit awkward and nervous, I tried to relate the experience, but nothing I said would ever do it justice.

If you want to see my interviews here are the links:

https://mycbs4.com/news/local/gainesville-mans-dash-cam-catches-bright-green-meteor

https://www.wcjb.com/content/news/Mans-dash-cam-video-of-North-Florida-meteor-goes-viral-507965111.html

What's next in this crazy Viral Saga? I don't know. The video is getting an insane amount of views on YouTube and I have long wanted to get back into content creation but not just limited to EVE Online.

I love EVE Online, and still think it's the best game I've ever played, but after 10+ years of playing almost every day my fire is gone. That's not to say I won't return, just that I can't promise that I will.

So maybe I will rename the Channel to my real name and just post the things I like to it. Things like Cooking, Weight Lifting, DIY Projects, etc.

Who knows, but for all of you who have been with me for years, I appreciate you and hope you come along for the ride.

One more thing, I am going to do a bigger video with more footage and info about the Meteor in a few days. I have more footage before and after the Meteor, as well as some establishing footage during the day time to show the scene.

I've got a list of videos and articles that I want to make sitting beside my monitor that constantly add to and scratch off as I complete them. This video about Warping to Moons and using Moons as align outs during PVP has been one that I've made and remade more times than I can count.

For some reason every time I tried to make this video I get interrupted by a big fleet or a good fight. So when the lesson was interrupted this time I decided to just "go with it" and see what happened.

The results was the original lesson and some unexpected lessons on Gate Crashing, Target Isolation, and Disengagement.

The basics here are:

Alt+Shift+X brings up Moon Brackets so you can see them in space to align to and warp to.

Many times the best align out is a moon.

In fights where you plan to run away from gate and create a "Straight Line Fight" like I teach in my PVP Guides, moons are ideal warp to point because most lazy F1 Fleet PVPers don't have them up and/or don't know how to bring them up.

Personally, I think the interruption made the video even better.

Here it is:

To help streamline my ability to get you as much valuable educational resources as possible, I'm looking into ideas for different Series style videos that will be regular feature. This means weekly or biweekly series'.

The first idea I had was a Q&A deal called "Ask Abbadon" where I address questions I receive on the forum, by email, or on YouTube.

If you like this, let me know. Also, if you have ideas or questions, post them in the comments.

This first episode focuses on a question I received in the Forum about Camera Zoom, Manual Piloting, and Spiraling. I cover these with some of my glorious MS Paint art and a cool solo PVP video of me flying the Dual Rep Myrmidon.

Three Pillars of PVP

The lesson here, is that new pilots shouldn't pay too much attention to trendy topics they hear people talking about. Instead they should focus on the Three Core Pillars of PVP which are:

Preparation

Plan

Execution

Preparation is your Fitting and understanding the strengths and weaknesses of your ship.

Plan is which ships you plan to fight or avoid. Then what tactics you will use to setup fights, and the tactics you will use during fights.

Execution is how well you execute the plan. As a result, this also means maintaining good Situational Awareness and being able to adapt to surprises.

These Three Pillars will be the topic of a large article in the near future. Realize that these are more important than little trendy topics.

The practice of recording and then watching your fights allows you to identify mistakes, missed opportunities, and see things you missed during the actual fight. As a result you are able to improve much faster.

Back in 2014 I did a article and video about this concept where you showed you how to setup Open Broadcaster Software or OBS for short. But a few days ago it came to my attention that OBS is moving from it's old 'Classic' software to a new and shinier OBS Studio.

Setting this type of thing up can be difficult if you don't have much experience with Video Settings, Codecs, Drivers, etc, so I decided to make a updated Setup Video for the new OBS Studio.

This video will show you exactly how to setup your OBS Studio to record EVE at VERY high quality and most likely with almost no CPU strain (you can put the load on your GPU).

Once you start watching your fights, I guarantee you will see your PVP improving.

Also, if you have some questions or want to share your footage with me, you can send it to my email address (same one you get email from about this website) or post in a comment here. I may do a Critique on your footage and post it publicly (with you permission of course) to help other players.

You know overloading is a very big deal in PVP, that squeezing every last drop of performance from your ship is important, maybe you've even watched my (very awesome) Overloading Video Guide, but have you ever practiced it outside of PVP?

Probably not. So in today's video I wanted to show you a very simple way you can practice overloading and get a feel for how long your modules can be overloaded and when you need to back off the heat in a fight.

We do this by playing chicken with our modules heat damage and see just how far we can push it without burning out. My high score was 92%, can you beat me?

As a new pilot to EVE Online, it can be hard to understand the differences between the races in EVE.

Getting a general understanding of the themes that these races tend to exhibit can help a new pilot understand his opponents and even what direction he may want to go in the game.

A pilot who loves using Drones for example should pick either Gallente or Amarr, while someone who is drawn to Missiles would want to use Caldari.

In a PVP engagement, this can also help you to predict more about how your opponent will fight.

Knowing an Enemies likely Damage Output can tell you if you will tank him easily or if he does the Damage that you have weak resists to.

Knowing an Enemies most likely weakest Resist or Damage Hole can allow you to kill them much quicker.

Keep in mind these are all Gross Generalities and are no right 100% of the time, but as long as they are right 60% or more of the time, it is valuable information.

Ever since EVE Online has gone Free To Play and a surge of new players started playing, there's one question I have been getting more than any other... "How do I know which ships to fight?"

It's something that I've always wanted to talk more about but have never directly addressed outside of my paid guides.

The traditional answer to this question is "you learn from experience," which means you learn by dying to every ship and flying as many of them as possible.

That is true, however the process doesn't have to be as slow or painful as it has always been. There are some tricks we can use to accelerate your learning and give you a shortcut so you can fly at a higher level while you learn.

What is this Secret?

A Spreadsheet!

I can see you mouse moving to back button already. You've always heard EVE Online was about spreadsheets and now this Abbadon21 dude just suggested a spreadsheet. But give me a few more paragraphs.

I'm not talking about any math or data analysis here, we only use the spreadsheet for a quick reference Cheat Sheet.

That is my Cheat Sheet that I include with the Free Tristan Guide you see at the top right of this page and it is our solution to speed up your learning process while allowing you to fly at a higher level in the mean time. You print this out and put it on your desk in front of you so that you can quickly decide which targets you should fight and how you should fight them.

The idea is to categorize ships by difficulty and then when possible list the best tactic to use against those ships.

This however does mean that we are making assumptions. For example, it's safe to assume that most the Breachers you run into will be ASB fit with really good, but temporary shield tanks and rockets. That doesn't mean all of them will be, but most (70-80%) will be.

But what if you don't know what a Breacher does, or Garmur, or a Daredevil?

You're probably not going to limit your self to flying just the FW Scram Kite Tristan that I teach you how to fly and the tactics for every ship you fly are a little different. So you need a way to use this no matter what you fly.

To do that you need to do a little research using ZKillboard and Pyfa (or EFT if they ever update it).

Let's say you just died to an Atron. First you should go to ZKillboard and type in the the pilot who killed you's name and find a Atron he has lost recently. Pull that fit into Pyfa. Next, type Atron into the search bar on ZKillboard, then click Losses to see all the lost Atrons. If you died in low sec focus on losses there. If you died in Null then look at Null Losses. Look through about 5-10 different losses and get a general feel for how people fit the ship. If you see a different fitting than the one you already imported to Pyfa, then import that one too.

Now, in Pyfa examine the fittings. Look at weakest resist, gun/missile range, tracking, ship bonuses, speed, agility, etc. Where are the weaknesses? Can you out range your opponent? Can you out run his tracking? Does he have a resist hole you can exploit? How would his ship work with no capacitor if you neuted him?

Run through these questions and find a Hypothesis to what the best way to fight him is. Plug this into your Cheat Sheet and next time you get the chance to test it, you can refine it or maybe even change it completely. But either way you learn more from each fight and improve your tactics as you go.

By using a Cheat Sheet you will speed up your learning, speed up your reaction time, and improve your results as a Solo PVP Pilot... Guaranteed!

When I was an aspiring Solo PVPer flying a Dual Prop Firetail in Fountain Null Sec many years ago I had very mixed results. I never knew which targets I could kill or how to fight them for optimum results.

My answer to that was to create a Cheat Sheet. I started with the Targets I know I could kill easily like Ares, Stiletto, Malediction, Raptor, Covert Ops, etc. Then as I died to other ships not on my list I went and researched that pilot who killed me's fitting AND the most common fittings for that ship.

Doing this research allowed me to slowly build a large cheat sheet that allowed me to react faster in fights. BUT it also did something else... It forced me to learn very quickly so I could translate my lessons to other ships and situations.

To demonstrate this idea I have created a Video Guide for you.

When I first made this guide many years ago it was my favorite due the WOLF being capable of so much. It was the king of the Assault Frigates that was at home in both Low and Null Sec. But then EVE Online Changed...

First they added the Tactical Destroyers (Svipuls, Confessors, Jackdaws, Hecates), and then came the Command Destroyers to make things even worse.

The result was that Assault Frigates were obsolete. There just wasn't any reason to fly an Assault Frigate when you could spend a tiny bit more and get a Svipul that was light years better (especially before the nerfs).

So naturally, people stopped flying the Assault Frigates like the Wolf and EVE was flooded with Svipuls and other T3 Destroyers.

To make matters worse CCP gave HICs (Heavy Interdictors) Scramming Focused Points that could scram beyond 37km!

This made the MWD Wolf completely useless outside of a few situations.

As time went on I lost hope more and more waiting for CCP to rebalance the Assault Frigates.

They said it was a priority, but never did it, so one day I decided to try again and see if there was any possible way to make the WOLF the beast it once was.

The only chance I had at this was with a Afterburner due the amount of HICs in the game. I tried a 10mn Afterburner but it just didn't work and it robbed the ship of it's great agility.

So eventually I settled for a expensive deadspace Afterburner that pushed the ship along at just over 1km/s. (The Fully Fit Ship is about 60-70 million ISK right now)

I wasn't sure if that would be enough to make the ship survivable but it was worth a test.

What I found was SHOCKING!

Nothing could kill me. Not Drone Bonused Vexors or Arbitrators, Not T3 Destroyers, Not instalock HIC camps, NOTHING!

Sure I had plenty of fights where I was forced to disengage and run away but the WOLF always survived and tanked better than I anticipated.

Finally, as you see at the beginning of the above video Providence fleeted up and blobbed me, but even then, I ALMOST escaped!

This was after I snagged a 1.6 Billion ISK Hauler kill that dropped over 800 Million ISK in Loot... Although sadly I was only able to get 80 mil of it.

Or after I wrecked ship after ship in the new Double Bubble camps that I learned from John Drees (check out his YouTube Channel).

That one ship lasted me over a month and paid for it's self 5+ times over in loot making it a rare exception to the "Solo PVP isn't profitable" belief.

Finally, the reason I think this ship is so good is because people underestimate it. The best fun I've ever had in EVE is when I found a ship people incorrectly believed was junk.

When this happens, it's much easier to get fights because everyone thinks they can beat you. Not to mention the fact that the WOLF is literally BUILT to kill Amarr ships. It's resist profile makes it a Confessor Killing Machine. (and a great choice for Providence SOLO PVP)
