If there is one thing you know about Everyday Fashion & Finance, you know we love a good look for less! This Target Merona Mini Satchel is pretty spot on compared to the Kate Spade Grove Court Maise. At only $33, you're saving $315 (or approximately 91%) while achieving the same exact look. Now, of course, we cannot argue against the quality of a Kate Spade handbag vs. a Target handbag, and I am a firm believer in splurging on a nice, classic bag. However, I wouldn't splurge on this one. I have many Target bags, and I have found the Merona brand to be of decent quality. For something that is not real leather, the material is usually pretty soft and well-constructed. So, if you're like me, and don't want to spend the extra $300, the Target Merona Mini Satchel is an excellent option!

As we see more and more spring (and summer) fashion make its debut, I cannot help but notice that the nautical trend is back in full force. I am not at all surprised. The nautical trend is classic, preppy and chic. I am thrilled to see that it's still hot for 2014. As I was rounding up the items for this post, I remembered I did a nautical trend post almost exactly a year ago where I also shared my key rules for pulling off the trend. With all of these nautical items appearing in stores, it must mean spring and summer are coming soon, right? It's so hard not to scoop up every single item! However, I predict that we will see many more items make their appearance over the next few months as well. All of this nautical talk definitely has me dreaming about summer and boating, but instead a snow storm is coming (again). Kind of sounds like a broken record, doesn't it? I just keep reminding myself warmer weather is coming eventually…it has to, right?

What I'm Loving Lately

Happy Friday! Although it may not feel like it, spring is upon us, and I could not be more excited. Temps are warming up here this weekend (to the 30's - woo hoo!), and it's time to spring forward! Today, I've rounded up a few things that I've been loving lately. As usual, the theme is bright colors, patterns, gold and comfort. Hope everyone has a bright and sunny weekend!

Jonathan Adler for TOMS. You may have already heard about it, but TOMS and Jonathan Adler have teamed up to bring us a cheery line of shoes and sunglasses for spring! Obviously, we know and love Jonathan Adler as a home decor brand, so it is very exciting to see the brand's trademark bold prints and patterns used to create some super cute shoes and sunglasses.

Although I haven't mentioned it much on the blog, TOMS is definitely one of my favorite brands. Not only is the classic slip on one of my go-to weekend and travel shoes, but TOMS is also known for its "one for one" plan. With every pair of shoes purchased, TOMS will give a pair of shoes to a child in need. And for every pair of sunglasses purchased, TOMS will help restore the sight of someone in need. This is pretty powerful stuff, as TOMS currently gives shoes in more than 60 countries and helps restore sight in 13 countries. Target Home Decor. Well, this isn't exactly a new love. Target just seems to continuously up its game in the home decor department. Every season is better than the last. I am loving all of the gold accents and pops of color in the Threshold line. The pink tufted ottoman is perfection (I just wish I had a place in my house for it). And that bar cart is such a steal! I had been eyeing bar carts for quite some time, but they were always just SO EXPENSIVE. This bar cart achieves the exact look I was going for, but for less (and it looks just as fabulous too). {Mirror, Ottoman, Accent Table, Pillow, Lamp, Lamp Shade, Bar Cart}

LOFT Lou & Grey. I have been so into comfy, chic lounge wear lately (probably because of this miserable weather). LOFT's new Lou & Grey line is full of textural and effortless everyday staples that are perfect for home and on the go. The line is more "street-worthy" than LOFT's previous lounge line. I love that everything is monochromatic in heather grays and oatmeal, which makes it perfect for travel. Basically, I love anything that I can throw on and be comfortable, yet still look chic. {Maxi Skirt, Sweatshirt, Tunic, Dress}

Old Navy Pixie Pants. I'm sure you've seen the commercials, especially the most recent with the hilarious Amy Poehler, but I am very excited about Old Navy's new Pixie Pants! Skinny ankle pants are my go-to's for work and just everyday wear in the spring and summer, so I am thrilled to have found such a fabulous, budget-friendly option. Old Navy's Pixie Pants come in a variety of fun colors and prints. The fit is flattering, and the fabric has the right amount of stretch. If you love the J.Crew Café Capris or Banana Republic Sloan Slim Ankle Pants, these are a great look for less! {Only $25 through 3/16 - Printed, Solid}

Spring Rain Boots at Every Price Point

I have lived in my Hunter boots this winter because there has just been SO MUCH SNOW. They may not be the warmest boot, but they are hands down the best for those gross, wet days. I purchased the Original Tall Gloss in black three years ago. I decided to be practical with the classic black because at the time, I still wasn't 100% sure about purchasing a $140 pair of rain boots. Well, my Hunter boots have turned out to be one of my all-time best purchases. They are a staple in my closet. Over the last three years, the price per wear has gotten to be pretty low. I have been wanting to get a second pair in a fun bright color for some time now, but haven't been able to pull the trigger. Do I buy another pair of Hunters? Or do I go for a look for less? With spring approaching, I know that I definitely want to get a new pair. After all, April showers bring May flowers! I have rounded up a few options at every price point that are perfect for spring.

Under $150: 1, 2, 3, 4 | Under $100: 1, 2, 3, 4 | Under $50: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

While I have my eye on a new pair of Hunters, Joules has great mid-range options that are good quality boots. But, let's talk about the Target options - they are super cute and about $100 less than a pair of Hunters! That is pretty hard to ignore. I especially love the mint polka dot pair. And how about that polka dot pair from DSW? While I thought I wanted a bright color, there is just something about navy and polka dots that I can't resist!

Another way to keep the cost down is to consider purchasing in kids size, if you are able. Hunter Big Kid rain boots are only $75 compared to $130-140 for a women's pair. I have heard that these are a better fit for those who are petite. If I go with another pair of Hunters, I will try them in the Big Kid size. Now, if only I could decide which color! I am kicking myself for not snatching up the mint or the coral last year. I have my eye on the Crimson Pink, but they appear to be few and far between. I am also loving the Lipstick Pink and Jade.

While we're on the topic of Hunters, I have also heard great things about the Hunter Tour Packable Rain Boot. They are much lighter than the original rain boot, and I am told they are more comfortable. They don't come in as many colors, but they are another great option to consider! My favorite is the yellow!

I am really loving d'orsay flats these days, and not just because they share their name with one of my favorite museums in Paris, but also because they are simple, yet chic, and flattering on the foot. The d'Orsay flat is an elegant twist on the essential flat. The cutout silhouette makes it kind of like a cross between a flat and a sandal. With the pointed toe, they are versatile enough to bring an understated polish to your everyday look. I love that you can wear them with boyfriend jeans and with a dress for date night. One {Amazing} Year!

Everyday Fashion & Finance is ONE year old today! Can you believe it?! I certainly can't. It seems like yesterday I was sitting on my couch forgoing Super Bowl Sunday and prepping this blog for its debut. And to celebrate our first year, we went and got a makeover!

1. Target's Merona Spring Line. It is a little bit J.Crew and a little bit Kate Spade with a splash of Tory Burch. It is budget-friendly and absolute perfection. [Shift Dress, Sleeveless Dress, Satchel, Skirt, Top]

2. Vinyl Wall Decals. Especially metallic gold polka dots. A budget-friendly and simple way to update your wall without the hassle of painting. I applied these gold polka dots to a wall in my closet recently (you may have seen a sneak peek on Instagram). They were so quick and easy! They are also easily removed. I found mine in the Urban Walls shop on Etsy.

3. Striped Loafers. Any loafers, really, but I especially love these striped loafers from J.Crew Factory. I found them on super sale after the holidays. Now, if only spring would get here so I can wear them!

4. Gold Foil Desk Calendars. I am in the slow process of updating my office decor, and a gold foil desk calendar was one of my must-haves. I love these with the gold stands. A little pricey, but oh-so-cute! [Tory Burch, Sugar Paper]

5. Hunter Boots. I am living in these right now. It is officially the snowiest January in history where I live (which is just nuts). I am not sure what I would have done without my Hunter boots to protect from all the salt, slush and overall icky-ness of winter. I have been wanting to get another color for quite some time (I own the glossy black), and this definitely would have been the year to do it. I am pretty sure the price per wear would have been pretty low. I am loving jade, pink and red!

6. Spring Bling. Statement necklaces are such a fun and easy way to accessorize. I am on the hunt for some versatile key pieces for spring and summer. This necklace from J.Crew Factory is one of those pieces.

7. Glitter Monogram Pouch. Glitter. Monogram. Pouch. Hmm...what's not to love? It is perfect for storing your precious baubles, and who can resist a shimmering monogram? [Find this one at Baublebar]

8. Gold Lamps. Sensing a pattern? Am I obsessed with gold? That's probably safe to say. In updating my desk decor, I found this super cute and budget-friendly gold lamp from Target. And it comes with the shade! Perfect lamp for my desk.

9. Anchors. Is it boating season yet?! I am still obsessed with anchors and anything nautical, so I am thrilled to see so many cute pieces popping up for spring. Old Navy has a ton of budget-friendly options right now. I think the trend is here to stay awhile, and I am definitely okay with that. [Tee, Sweatshirt]

10. Minnie Pant in Medallion Print. In browsing the final sale items on the J.Crew website, I fell in love with these medallion print pants. They are a steal of a deal at an extra 50% off with the code BYEWINTER. I think they will be so cute in the spring with chambray and a pair of flats.

TGIF! I am not one who typically gets into Valentines Day. My husband and I celebrate it quite simply by just going to a nice dinner and spending time together. If we buy gifts, they are small. But, while rounding up this week's 20 Under $20, I couldn't help but get a little festive as I realized everything I was choosing fell into the red and pink categories. There are just so many cute, budget-friendly finds out there! And at these prices, maybe I'll get a little more into Valentines Day this year!

The low-down: I am loving the Forever 21 makeup accessories lately (super cute, super cheap and so many more on the site). JCPenney has some great key pieces on clearance right now - chambray and a pink cable knit sweater are definite must-haves. The Kate Spade mug and tumbler make great gifts, but make sure to buy one for yourself too! The J.Crew Factory cuff bracelet is my favorite. It is perfect for spring and summer too! Don't miss those leggings - they are from Anthropologie, $18 and fleece lined. Pair them with a pair of those cozy heart socks for these frigid winter nights. And, finally, that red jersey dress? It's only $14.95. Need I say more?

GroopDealz Picks of the Week + An Update

Hi, everyone! Hope you're all having a great week! It is officially busy season for us accountants. Luckily for me, it will all be over on February 20. Contrary to popular belief, I am an accountant that does not do taxes (aside from my own and some family/friends), so my busy season does not last until April (thank goodness). I work in financial reporting, so once our year-end financial report gets filed, I'm in the clear! But, enough of that boring talk. I know I have been struggling with blog posts lately. It's not that I don't have the inspiration, it's that I don't feel like I have the time or energy to create a quality post that I'm proud to share (and yes, I am a bit of a perfectionist). I love my readers so much, and I don't want to let you down! Sometimes it is just hard to balance it all, you know? With busy season underway, it only gets more difficult, so I apologize if I am absent some of the time. I usually don't get very personal on the blog. In fact, I have tried to stay away from it, as I know you're not here to hear about my life. You want to see fashion, and budget-friendly fashion at that! But, I have gotten a little personal lately, sharing my 2014 goals, talking about this… I am working very hard to find more balance in my life, and I strongly believe I can find it, even in busy season. I have SO much that I want to do (in blogging and in life), and I DO have a ton of fun plans for this blog. I am motivated and making positive changes in my life - getting back to focusing on the things I love and want to do. I have already made great strides in these first few days of 2014, and I am happier and less stressed as a result (even during busy season)!

Starting this blog in February 2013 was one of the very best things I have ever done. I have learned so much and built so many wonderful friendships as a result. I cannot believe that I am approaching the one year anniversary! So, I promise that very soon I will be back and blogging like I used to! I will still be posting every moment I can find the time, but just hang in there with me until February!
