Unless you doing sustained transfers all the time or recording multitude of HD video material nobody will ever notice that transfer is capped at ~1600MB/s. Certainly not a gamer. I mentioned this couple times already and I'll repeat that once more. I was working with i750 400 GB on X58 and it was more than fine. Recording video was less streamlined than Gen.3 (from lack of better expression), but everything else, including VM, was perfect.[/p][p] [/p][p]Returning to original question. I think Intel has the upper hand here, and will maintain it. I mean, they always seem to compete with themselves. Skylake, now Kaby Lake followed by Cannonlake in quick succession with more already on the horizon. AMD provided no answer to any of these chip releases. No problems and performance was well within what I needed. But now it has changed a little. I am no fanboy, I simply state facts. Intel is ahead of AMD, and Nvidia is ahead of AMD. Can AMD match performance? Yes. But remember to check the TDP and temperature of your AMD hardware when comparing similar performance of their competition. AMD's run hotter and swallow more electricity. Once the performance gap is on par I will once again consider AMD. Until then the price gap they provide is negated by wattage used to run their hardware. Is it a lot? No. But over time it adds up. So might as well go for the performance of Intel and Nvidia. I also bought a Titan X Pascal while I was waiting for these to arrive. The SLI cards will out benchmark the Titan and give more frames, but not by too much. Given the hit or miss support for SLI in games I'm not sure it's worth it. I can OC the Titan with a Hybrid DIY mod and get great results. The FTWs would be left on air because I don't want to have two more radiators in the case. Display is an Acer Predator X34 @ 3440x1440 and 100hz. Because I am using the original VBIOS at first and hoping that would be solution, flashed the latest BIOS. That didn't worked out. Linux boots from the PCIex drive on X58 using a small grub based bootloader on a USB drive which has just the Linux kernel and the initrd.[/p][p] [/p][p]The speeds I am getting with Patriot Hellfire 480GB M.2 are 1.5GB/sec sequential read and 650MB/sec sequential write, which are both very good in my books, considering X58 is limited to only 2GB/sec on x4. I am getting 3 times faster reads and 1.5 times faster writes than my earlier Crucial M500, which I moved a laptop. So, plenty happy with that. This and the memory upgrade has added about 2 more years to this OC'ed machine.
