WATCH OUT! Telephone Computer Scam

Evolve would like to inform our customers of a new scam that is spreading and effecting many computer users.

Please read carefully:

Scammers are calling people on the phone to access their computers and obtain credit card details.

How the scam works:

The scammer calls and pretends to be from Microsoft, Windows or an ISP and telling them they have a dangerous virus.
The scammer then asks the user to look at a log file on their computer - one that always has alerts - and informs them that this is the virus.
The scammer then asks the user to go to a website and download and install some software.
The scammer also asks for £60 and credit card details so that they can fix the problem.

DO NOT under any circumstances ever do this. Not only will you be out of pocket, but you stand to lose far more than £60 as you could be the victim of identity theft and your computer could be used for fraudulent activities.
