JPMorgan Chase Accidentally Breaks Into Your House And Steals Everything You Own

Bobo and Joy Dickson bought a house had been headed for foreclosure, but JPMorgan Chase apparently didn't get the message that the former owners had moved out and the new owners were in residence. So, naturally, they hired a firm to drill the Dickson's locks and take everything they owned, including their food. Now JPMorgan Chase is "taking it seriously."

"We take this very seriously, and we are working with EMC [a mortgage company JPMorgan Chase owns] and the family's attorney to make this right," said Tom Kelly, a JPMorgan spokesman.

After the Dickson's bought the house back in May, the foreclosure proceedings were supposed to have been stopped. They weren't. That's when the former owner's mortgage company (owned by JPMorgan Chase) hired "Field Asset Services Inc." to drill the locks and "empty the house," according to the Austin American-Statesmen. Field Asset Services claims that the Dickson's possessions were given to area thrift stores, but they have been unable to locate them.
Ordinarily, when personal possessions are left in a foreclosed home a court order is needed to remove the items and the owners are given the opportunity to reclaim them within 24 hours. JPMorgan Chase says its not sure if there was a court order in this case.

Elizabeth Bradburn, the Dicksons' real estate agent, is organizing an effort to collect donations for the family. She said gift cards to furniture and household goods stores are preferred and may be sent to the Dicksons' business address: 9800 N. Lamar Blvd.,
No. 315, Austin TX 78753.
"It's been awesome to see people mobilize and want to help out," Hance [Dicksons' attorney] said. "The Dicksons are, of course, very grateful and touched by the outpouring of support from the community."

Get our of your sell phone contract without paying a Termination Fee!

The Problem:

CellSwapper.com was first conceived of in early 2003 in response to a major issue plaguing millions of cellular consumers getting stuck in a cellular contract with unsatisfactory service. This issue is compounded by the fact that the cellular industry ranks lowest in terms of customer satisfaction. In fact, the Council of Better Business Bureaus reported that customers filed more complaints about cell phones in 2004 than any other industry. This means that there are millions of consumers out there who are extremely unhappy with their cellular service and yet are unable to do anything about it for up to 24 months.

Currently, the only way out of a cellular contract is by paying an early termination fees. This penalty, set by the various carriers, can be as high as $250 per phone. This means, for example, that if a consumer is locked in a family plan with 4 phones, the only way out is to cough up what could total $1000.

The Solution:

CellSwapper.com has developed a system to keep both cellular consumers and carriers happy. Through its patent pending system, CellSwapper allows millions of unhappy cellular users to transfer their contract to another consumer for the remainder of the contract period. The consumer is fully absolved of all responsibility and is free to initiate a new plan with a different carrier. This system also provides an exclusive deal for those looking to start a wireless service plan a short-term contract with no activation fees that may run as high as $45.

The carrier, on the other hand, is still guaranteed the monthly payments are made the remainder of the contract term. Furthermore, using the CellSwapper system the carrier is able to replace its unhappy customers with satisfied ones. This is financially significant because only happy customers will be driven to maintain their service relationship with the carrier after their contract has expired.

Visit CellSwapper.com for more information.

Two (2) 24" Dell LCD Monitors

What a view! I Purchased an additional 24" monitor from Dell and it's awesome.

Model number: E228WFP

After first hooking it up I noticed that the new monitor's colors were different. after tweaking with the settings I got both of them set to the same exact settings, however still one monitor seemed a little more reddish than the other. That might be due to the type of CCFL bulb installed inside the monitor's backlit.

Other than that I did not notice any other issues. Looks great as you can see below.

Fix Internet Explorer 7 Crashes in Vista (Adobe Flash Player)

A lot of you may have seen Internet Explorer crash "Internet Explorer has stopped working" when closing the browser in Windows Vista. It happens so very often when you least expect it.
There are a lot of reasons why Internet Explorer will do this, but one I have found that really stands out is Adobe's Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX [COM Client] control. Seven (7) of ten (10) IE 7 crashes I have personally seen, are related to the Flash Player plug-in.
A lot of users may see messages advising them to re-install the Flash player and many take this advice - but they don't see any relief and the plug-in continues to un-plug IE.
Fortunately, Adobe has published a less well known Flash Player removal tool and procedure that users should use and follow BEFORE they re-install the plug-in.
Please reference Adobe's Support Site, which states: (be sure to follow all instructions and take note of the files Adobe's uninstaller cannot remove)
"How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control"
Due to recent enhancements to the Adobe Flash Player installers, you can now remove the player only by using the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller. To remove Flash Player, simply download and run the appropriate uninstaller for your system using the steps below.

Download the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller:

Windows: uninstall_flash_player.exe (162 KB) (updated 12/3/07)
Note: If you have a Windows Flash Player uninstaller downloaded prior to December 3, 2007 on your desktop, then please delete it and download the latest version.

Mac OS X: uninstall_flash_player_osx.dmg (278 KB) (updated 12/3/07)

Mac OS 8.x, 9.x: uninstall_flash_player.hqx (33 KB)

Save the file to your system, choosing a location where you can find it (for example, your desktop). Macintosh users may need to open or unstuff the .hqx file.
Quit ALL running applications, including all Internet Explorer or other browser windows, AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, or other Messengers. Check the Windows system tray carefully to make certain no applications which might possibly use Flash Player are still in memory.
Run the uninstaller. This will remove Adobe Flash Player from all browsers on the system.

Note: The uninstaller cannot remove files currently in use.
If you have any instances of the player open in your web browsers, instant messaging clients, stand-alone SWFs, or projectors, then the uninstaller will complete but some files may not be deleted. If this occurs, then close all of your applications and run the uninstaller again to ensure that all files are removed.
Note: Internet Explorer users may have to reboot to clear all uninstalled Flash Player ActiveX control files. If you're not certain, select the "Show Details" button in the Flash Player uninstaller. If there are any log lines that begin with "Delete on Reboot..." then you'll need to reboot BEFORE running the Flash Player installer again.
After running Adobe's tool and following their procedure for removing left over files, we restart the computer and reinstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and IE 7 on Vista runs much more reliably. Of course many other plug-ins can cause IE to crash, but since Flash is so common on so many websites, it is much more likely to be encountered.

DIY: Porting your LS1/LS6 Throttle Body

This shows you, step by step with pictures, on how to port your LS1 / LS6 throttle body. It works on any Pontiac Trans Am or Chevy Camaro with the LS1 or LS6.

DIY - Porting process:

Porting your the throttle body is a simple way to pickup some extra horsepower and if you already have some simple tools, it's super cheap. All you need is a dremel (or similar cutting tool) with some cutting bits, some sanding rolls, various grit sandpaper, and some quick dry metal filler of some kind (optional).

Proceed at your own risk. We will not be held liable for anything at all. If you aren't sure you can do this, bring it to a professional for help.

Here is a picture of the stock throttle body that we'll be working with. Our goal is to open up the area in front of the throttle blade including the front lip. You can also fill in the huge cut out area at the top (optional).

First off, you need to mark the throttle body at the blade with a marker so you be sure not to go past the blade into the backside. This is VERY IMPORTANT. If you go too far and it will not allow the throttle blade to seal and cause idle problems.

If you also plan to modify the throttle shaft (optional), you will need mark the shaft at each end where it goes into the body, like in the picture below.

Now disassemble the entire thing. Remove all the connectors, unscrew and remove the blade, and remove the shaft. After you take off the TPS (throttle position sensor), you can simply whack the shaft out with a hammer. Don't feel bad it won't hurt anything. ***Pay attention as there is a very small washer that will fall out on the TPS side too, do not lose this!!***

Optional: Now you need to fill in the cut out area that goes into the idle air bypass. I used 2 pieces of stainless tubing inserted before I filled it with metal filler. You can simply drill the holes later if you need to. I also put a piece of aluminum can against the opening and cut out 2 holes for the stainless tubes to slide through. This way the metal filler will not completely fill the cut out area and choke it off.

Optional: While that's drying, go ahead and knife edge the throttle blade. I used a bench grinder, but you can use the dremel if you choose. Also, round the back edge of the blade off "airflow off the back is as important as the front".

Optional: Now move over to the shaft and get ready to cut it. What you will be doing is cutting off the front portion that you see when looking at the throttle body head on. When the blade is opened up this makes a big bump and a big restriction. Reference the marks you made before you took it apart and cut there.

The shaft will look like this now:

If you used metal filler, make sure it is dry. It's now time to start porting. It will take a while, but be patient and be careful, making sure not to go too far into the throttle body (keep an eye on the mark where the blade will sit). Knife edge the leading edge of the body and grind back to your mark. Pay attention to the area near that mark, as there is a "lip" right there that is a major obstruction to air flow. You are able to feel it with your finger. Your rough cut should look something like this (if you didn't use the stainless tubes, that area will be solid filler):

Be sure not to go past your mark!!

Be careful while porting, try not to take too much material away, the casting is quite thin in areas. Be careful on the bottom due to the coolant passageways as well. All that you need to do is continue smoothing and refining the shape.
Once you're done porting it is time to begin sanding it by hand with progressively finer grit paper to smooth the finish. I went down to an 800 grit paper and finished off with a polishing wheel on the dremel. Once smoothed out you can then use a metal polishing compound to bring the metal portions of the TB to a mirror finish if desired.

If you didn't use the stainless tubes, you will now need to drill some holes for air passageways. I believe a 1/4" or 5/16" drill bit will be sufficient, just make sure you check to see that you got the holes in their proper position. Remember from the stock cut out area that there is a divider smack in the middle of that area.
Optional: You will now need to do the bump stop mod. If you didn't know, the stock bump stop for the throttle cable USUALLY won't let the blade get to true wide open throttle. It will need to be clearance to allow it to open further. There is 2 ways you can go about this.

1) With the throttle body installed, simply grind until your voltage is correct or
2) With the throttle body off, install a set screw. I installed the setscrew to add some adjustability. Either way, you want the voltage on the TPS (throttle position sensor - the blue wire) to be at 4.7V at WOT, key on/engine off. Mine ended up at 4.74V, and I can adjust it either way. I *believe* the max voltage you can have is 4.75, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Now, reinstall the shaft into the housing. For the spring, simply set one end into the perch on the side of the housing and slide the shaft through it. Once you get the tab that it sits on up to it, put the other spring end on it and twist it all the way around till the spring is tight then push the shaft the rest of the way on. Go ahead and put the throttle blade back on the shaft and make sure it functions properly, opening and closing. Shave the backside of the screws down and it should look something like this:

Clean the assembly with a mild cleaner (I used electrical parts cleaner) and reinstall. Attach all the fittings and hose going to the valve cover, and reinstall the electronics.

Check your TPS voltage to make sure it's correct. If you want, bypass the coolant that circulates through the body to keep the temps down. Simply put in a piece of tubing as a jumper between the 2 hoses and clamp them on. You don't have to worry about plugging off the fittings in the housing itself though. You can barely see it in this picture, but you get the idea.

Here is the finished product. Expect a huge increase in throttle response and a great seat of the pants gain, especially up top. My auto also seemed to shift quicker and harder, but that could be just in my head.

Configuring .FLV MIME Type in IIS

I was driving myself nuts while trying to figure out why the flash video would not play on a clients site. Turns out that IIS 6 does not include .FLV MIME Type by default and thus displays a 404 error back to the client.

To add .flv MIME Type:

Fire up IIS Manager and right click on the web site you want to configure.

Under HTTP Headers Tab, Click MIME Types and Click New.

Type ".flv" as the associated Extension and "video/x-flv" as the content type.

Click OK.

I created a very short video tutorial:

How I was ripped off by Chris Winn (Eshilon)

On December 19, 2007, Eltroway Corporation located in Florida hired Chris Winn's company "Eshilon Design" for some web development services. At first Chris was very responsive with his emails. Suddenly Eltroway was passed on to someone named Robert. Robert stated that he would be the point in contact as Chris was having health issues. Eltroway proceeded for weeks dealing with Robert.

Meanwhile, here it is, February 1st and the web project is still not done. Chris told a representative at Eltroway the project should be completed around the first or second week in January 08'. According to Eltroway, several emails were sent & from different email addresses as well to rule out spam filtering. They called his contact numbers and left several messages and also left messages with his answering service.

Eltroway's next steps were filing a PayPal claim. Eshilon apparently responded to PayPal and sent Eltroway an email. Eltroway finally received some sort of email with an attachment. It turns out, the attachment was the web project that Eshilon sent. The project was far from complete and did not encompass most of the functionality which was sent to Chris Winn back in mid December. Eltroway responded to his reply regarding the PayPal dispute and still to this day they have not received a response.

If you have been ripped off too, Please leave a comment on this post.

Comments

March 3. 2008 18:39

Daniel
Hi, I am having the same issue with Chris. In late January, I hired Chris for a small project and he very enthusiastically responded via email and phone calls. As soon as I paid my initial deposit, radio silence. He has yet to return a single one of my calls. The project was supposed to have a working demo last week and I have yet to see even a single design beyond the front page.
If anyone has had the same issues, please post again so no one is suckered into this guy's scheme.
March 3. 2008 19:55

Daniel
Big misunderstanding. Chris Winn is legit; the reason he was slow in responding was due to a change in course by me and he did not even charge me extra for this.
March 4. 2008 01:01

Evan Morris
I have been ripped off by Chris Winn and Eshilon Design also. I hired him for my website in October 2007. Since then he has been in and out of contact with me. Sometimes responsive other times I wouldn't hear from him for weeks.
He gave me a proposal showing some nice looking websites. But, these were nothing like what I actually received from him. I asked him multiple times to try to fix certain problems. The implementation of his design was horrible. He couldn't do things that a beginning programmer could do (like drop down lists). I am in the process of filing a paypal complaint and I also want to tell everyone on the internet to stay away from Chris Winn and Eshilon design.
I run a DJ company and response times to my customers is a huge factor in getting their business. Also, most of my events are around $1000 for the night. He set up a "contact us" form that was supposed to e-mail me the information from this form. But, it didn't e-mail me, and I didn't realize that I wasn't receiving e-mails for a couple weeks. There were multiple people who tried to contact me about my services that I wasn't able to respond to until a week later. Therefore, I lost all of their business. Which could possibly cost me over $4000 in the short run...maybe more in the long run.
The worst thing about it is that I also gave his name to my Dad because the proposal looked pretty good for a decent price. But, my Dad has had the same problems with him that I have.
If you haven't setup anything with Chris Winn yet...DON'T DO IT. Get someone else.
March 31. 2008 23:14

Leigh Goldie
Hi everyone. I am not excited to join your group, but here I am. I have also been ripped off by Chris Winn and Eshilon Design. I hired Chris after connecting with him on www.fundingpost.com. At the time, his company was called Chris Winn Consulting. We had an initial conversation and he sounded like he knew what direction I wanted to take my website in. We were also discussing offering him equity in exchange for the work.
During this time, I was trying to figure out how to bring in revenue as the first site I was focusing on would take a long time to build. I told Chris about a second idea I had come up with: www.personalizedtraveljournal.com" rel="nofollow">www.personalizedtraveljournal.com and he said he would be willing to work on it first. Thank goodness I had him work on this small project first.
After having an initial conversation via phone, I was not allowed to contact him by phone again. He said everything should be done over the internet so that he could have proof of what he did. Interesting in retrospect. I specified numerous times that I wanted to speak by phone so that I had a clear understanding of his intentions. We have yet to do that.
Like many others, he handed my job over to Robert due to health issues and his grandfather being sick and I haven't heard from him since. December 2007 was when we started working on the site and today, March 31, 2008, it is still not completed. If you check out www.personalizedtraveljournal.com" rel="nofollow">www.personalizedtraveljournal.com you will find that the title of the site is even misspelled. I could have done this on my own.
Tomorrow, I will be submitting a letter from my attorney illustrating my frustration in a legal manner. If anyone can provide suggestions or has already started legal proceedings, please contact me. This is absolutely ridiculous!
April 11. 2008 04:17

Wayne
We had identified Chris Winn from the Drupal website and he become short listed along with another six firms from over 20 developers. He was very responsive during that selection process on the Phone, Skype and Email. He appeared to have the experience that we where seeking and was able to meet our demanding deadlines.
As campaign strategist the website came under my supervision and was to play a key role in the election. This was the campaign website for a very critical state election run in 2007 for a famous Australian politician.
September 2006 Chris Winn Consulting (CWC) to develop the website and do:
Activist relationship management, web design, graphic design, copywriting and editing, vetting, content development, long-term strategic direction, strategic advice, technical support, donations management and database management.
After our first payment then we started to see issues with timely delivery and quality of work. As the election campaign progressed with greater demands required for performance he became harder to contact and the work greatly deteriorated. It started to become very clear that he did not have the skills, experience, knowledge and ability that was required to deliver the project required. It is now also very clear that we had hook up with a con man.
We where also given the ‘he is very sick routine’ and also later told that Chris Winn had nothing to do with ‘Eshilon Design’. For all the funds paid during the project we now no longer have a website at all. He has taken the website down and can not be contacted. While we had continually asked for monthly back ups during the development process this did not happen as with many development phases.
I believe that it was very clear that Chris Winn had set out to defraud us from the outset. It is also clear that Chris Winn should be convinced of a criminal offence reading the trail of similar experiences.
Below was some of the credentials that Chris Winn provided us with:
Background
CWC is a unique leader in the field of open source technology development as we have a
very rich political background.
While consulting for U.S. Sen. John Edwards’ presidential campaign (2003-2004), we
applied the first national political use of Slashcode, an intricate open source content
management system (well-known for its use at www.slashdot.org, one of the Internet’s most-
trafficked Web sites). Within three months, we grew Sen. Edwards’ blog visitor-base from just
300 to over 10,000. CWC proudly built the technology from the ground up and managed on
a day-to-day basis the Internet communications of the entire national campaign. We were
honored to be part of a very hard-working and talented team.
In 2004, CWC managed a last-minute emergency political effort to target five U.S. Senate
campaigns. Within 72 hours, we developed, built, and deployed five unique Websites,
complete with research material, TV spots, e-mail marketing campaigns, and tell-a-friend
functionality.
Throughout 2004 and 2005, CWC has helped direct the campaigns of local and regional
candidates, designed and deployed Web sites for both small and large organizations, and
maintained close working relationships with Washington, D.C.-based political action
committees and non-profit/charitable groups. Many clients keep CWC on full retainer to
manage their Internet strategy.
We are grateful for our clients’ business and work hard to support their successful ventures.
Our company’s core values are collaboration, honesty, and diligence. (Now that last line has got to make you laugh out loud).
Wayne
April 20. 2008 14:57

Leigh Goldie
Please note the website I connected with Chris on is www.designquote.net. I listed the site incorrectly in my first entry. Right now, he is listed on the site as number 2 in the top 20 design firms on that site, as he has acquired 26 jobs from the site.
Also, there is now a post on Ripoff Report as well from another unhappy customer of his. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at ellbee22@aol.com.

Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 Service Pack 1

What Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 Service Pack 1 has in store

Vista SP1 is supposed to bring improvements and fixes to our computing experience. They include security improvements, performance, network/internet fixes, as well as support for new hardware standards.

A list of some improvements/fixes includes:

Better support for newer graphic cards

Sleep mode

OS upgrades from XP to Vista

Quicker recovery from hibernations

Quicker file copying/installations

Internet Explorer 7 performance fixes

To learn more of what is in store for SP1 check out Microsoft's white paper. Many do not want to switch to Vista and some users that are using the OS (Operating System) are dreading the switch. If we go back to when SP2 was released for Windows XP, we had a loss of functionality in many programs. KB884130 was a fix for some of this.

If you decide to install SP1 for Vista once it is released: to avoid some problems, you may want to check compatibility with your software vendor for applications and programs which are critical to you. Some known programs which are blocked by SP1 include:

Zone Alarm Security Suite 7.1.078

Trend Micro Internet Security 2008

BitDefender AV or Inernet Security version 10

Sony SonicStage 4.3 Crash FIX!

After several days of HELL on earth I finally fixed it. The SonicStage Crash problem looks like a very popular issue for many people as I did a google search for it. The problem had nothing to do with my Sony NW-E002F device instead it was the fact that a program file for SonicStage was not registered properly in windows.

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sony Shared\AVLib\Frank.dll

How did i figure this out? Thanks to a nice tool from Sysinternals called "Process Monitor" i was able to monitor the SonicStage process (Omgjbox.exe) and just when I would access the device SonicStage would crash in process monitor i was watching what the SonicStage was doing and i noticed a bunch of NAME NOT FOUND entries that point to a registry key. in regedit I could not find the key. however on my other computer which has SonicStage and working just fine i found those keys so I exported them into a reg file below.

omg2.zip (752.00 bytes)

You can try the above file which contains 2 reg files -- i can not guarantee that this will work for you. however the problem is simple. Just make sure Frank.dll is properly registered in your system.

regsvr32.exe is how you can register the Frank.dll

Sony, if you are reading this, please ad some error handling into your application so we can figure things out better!

And now sonic stage works GREAT!

(Sony SonicStage Version 4.3)
