The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIPA) are two bills that sound like they have a mildly positive aim but, in reality, have serious potential to negatively change the internet as we know it. Here are some tools that can help you keep track of SOPA and PIPA as well as prepare for problems in case they pass.

Protect Yourself in Advance

Google Chrome users can pick up the No SOPA, which reveals which sites support SOPA when visiting them. If you're interested in writing a letter to supporters, boycotting their sites, or simply be aware of their support, this extension can help with identification.

Google Chrome users should check out MAFIAAFire Redirector, which will intercept any domain names typed into your address bar and load via the site's numeric IP address instead. Firefox users have the choice of two extensions, DeSOPA and MAFIAAFire ThePirateBay Dancing, which do the same thing.

Additionally, Reddit users are creating a SOPA emergency list that hold the IP addresses of various sites. In the event these extensions don't work out or there isn't one for your browser, you'll be able to make edits to the hosts file on your computer to override any blocked sites. For now there's no sense in doing anything because there is no problem yet, but it's good to be prepared for the worst.

Stop Global Warming

Have you ever heard about global warming? The earth is becoming hotter and hotter because people do many bad things to it. Can we save it? Yes, of course. Not only adults can save our beloved earth, we all can. And it doesn’t have to be something big and difficult. You can do easy things and at the same time save the earth. Here are some of them:

1. Turn off the water when not in use. Avoid running taps when brushing your teeth. Clean water is hard to get so you must not waste it.

2. Turn off the lights when you leave a room and leave the lights off during the day.

3. Always throw the rubbish in the trash can. A clean environment will produce a fresh air right?

4. Walk or ride a bike whenever possible. Take a bus to school instead of having your parents or another family members take you on a motorcycle or in a car. You save the environment from pollution and also save energy.

5. Minimize the used of air conditioners. If you feel hot, you can always open the window and feel the fresh air.

6. Unplug the TV or computer at night. A standby TV or computers still uses energy.

7. Don’t let the refrigrator door open for too long. It will consume more energy.

8. Bring your lunch box instead of buying food in plastic wrap.

9. Plant a tree. You can pick the tree and the location. You can have your own tree and help make the neighborhood become green.

Now that you’ve seen the above tips, you know that it’s easy to save the earth, right? So, let’s start now and do environmentally friendly stuff every day!

Nobody can argue that the cost of today’s school education is way over the top. Let alone pursuing the best, many people can barely afford less ambitious, albeit still decent, academic progess.
Luckily, there’s another realm in this modern world where we can get free education from some of the best schools on the planet. We call this other realm the Internet, and here are some of the sources of free education online. However, please note that most of these institutes won’t give you a school diploma.
Before you jump into the pool, it’s good to know that if all you need is more information about a topic, you can stop by any of your friendly neighborhood search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.) or Wikipedia. All that you need to find will likely be available at your fingertips there.

Video Courses and Lectures for the Visual And Auditory Leaner

The only difference between sitting in front of a screen watching a lecture and sitting in on a lecture in person is that you will not be able to raise your hand for a question to the lecturer on the videos. If you are fine with that, here are some places that you can visit for your daily dose of videos:

1. Open Yale courses
This site provided by Yale University. Wouldn’t you love to sit in on a Yale lecture? Now you can with their Open Yale program, which offers several free online courses in topics ranging from The Old Testament to Biomedical Engineering. There aren’t a lot of available courses online from Yale, but the quality more than makes up for the lack of quantity. This is one of several top universities that not only offers written course materials but also full videos of the course lectures or downloadable .mp3 audio versions so you can listen to the lectures from just about anywhere.

2. MIT’s OpenCourseware
This site provided by Massachusetts Institute of Technology. MIT’s OpenCourseware is without a doubt the biggest collection of free online courses from a prestigious university. Their list of offerings is huge to put it mildly. Interested in architectural design? They’ve got it. Want to learn about globalization? They’ve got that too. How about nonlinear dynamics or even toy product design? Oh yeah, you’re covered. Is there anything you can’t learn about with MIT’s OpenCourseware? Maybe, but I can’t find it. The courses available online through MIT don’t follow a single format, so know that they’ll vary. Some courses will feature lecture notes. Some will include exams and solutions. Others will include multimedia elements like video lectures. In most, if not all, courses you’ll be told what texts the on-campus students used in the class, so you can purchase the textbook to follow along with the course if you’d like to.

3. UC Berkeley Webcast
UC Berkeley Webcast might not be the biggest compared to MIT’s huge offering of free online course materials, but you could argue they’re the best. What I love about UC Berkeley is that they offer all of their free online course materials in webcast form. You can find audio and/or video lectures, allowing you to feel like you’re right in the actual classroom or lecture hall (without worrying about being called on!). UC Berkeley also does something other universities don’t — they offer webcasts of current semester courses. In other words, you can take a course right along with current students earning a degree with the school. Their webcast list lets you know the course schedule so you never miss a lecture. When you first visit the link above, the course list might look small. But don’t let that fool you! You’ll only be looking at the current semester’s webcast list. Check out the drop-down menu near the upper right of the screen, and you can pull up free online courses from past semesters as well (from as far back as 2001!). No, you won’t earn a degree with these free online courses, but they offer an amazing wealth of knowledge. There’s no excuse not to learn anymore — not money, not admissions essays, nothing at all. Check out some of these free online courses and webcasts, and learn something new today. And when your friends or colleagues ask where you picked up that awesome little nugget of wisdom, just say “Oh, just [insert prestigious university here]. No biggie!”

4. OpenCourseWare Consortium
OCW Consortium, which was pioneered by MIT, offers free audio or video lectures, and under open licenses from over 22 universities in the US alone, including MIT, Johns Hopkins, Tufts, and the University of Michigan, and features courses on tons of different subjects, from Business and Economics to Architecture and Physics.

5. The Khan Academy
The Khan Academy is mostly the work of one man, an electronic chalkboard, and YouTube. It focuses mostly on Math, from basic arithmatic to calculus, as well as a bit of science. It has great reputaion for teaching these subjects in an understandable manner.

6. Academic Earth
Academic Earth collects lectures from 19 different universities on a variety of subjects. The idea is similar to that of the OpenCourseWare Consortium, although on a slightly smaller scale. Academic Earth also features some of the universities not listed in the OpenCourseWare Consortium, so it is another good alternative resource.

7. iTunes U
iTunes U is fantastic because you can download these lectures right to your device (iPod, iPhone, or iPad) and study them later at your own convenience. Furthermore, like Academic Earth, iTunes U allows for searching by a specific topic or lecture, not just full courses. It also has a huge database.

The Traditional Text Based Learning

If you find it easier to learn a subject by reading at your own pace (rather than watch a professor drone on in front of you), there are a few sites that provide more text-based learning and slide show files.

8. Wikiversity and Wikibooks
Wikiversity and Wikibooks are fantastic resources for all kinds of information. Users can contribute their own project or research to the wiki, and it hosts a ton of textbook-like resources, organized in a tree.

9. Textbook Revolution
Textbook Revolution has goal of bringing together as many free textbooks on the Net as they can. They’ve got a fairly good database too, which is searchable or browsable by subject (such as Biology, Economics, or Health Sciences).

10. UG OpenCourseWare
This site provided by Gunadarma University, Indonesia. UG OpenCourseWare is a free and open educational resource for faculty, students, and self-learners throughout the world. UG OpenCourseWare does not grant credits or degrees, and does not provide access to faculty. UG OpenCourseWare gives you open access to the materials used in a variety of courses.

11. U.S. Small Business Administration
The SBA may not be a university, but they offer some of the best free online business courses available on the Web. Whether you’re already a business owner or just thinking about becoming one, let them teach you how to write a business plan, market your business, understand basic accounting principles, and more with interactive online courses. You can even learn about things like international business and crime prevention.

12. OpenLearn (LearningSpace)
This site provided by The Open University, United Kingdom. This UK university offers a pretty wide range of free online courses and learning materials through their OpenLearn program. What I love about OpenLearn is that they tell you up front in the course listings how long a course should take you to complete (18 hours for a climate change course and 8 hours for a social marketing course for example). Each “study unit” in the OpenLearn program features its own discussion forum, allowing you to interact with other people following the same courses or sharing your interest areas.

With all of these resources at hand, the only thing that you need to go futher in your education is your own good will to succed. So, good luck!

Are you eager to watch a football match in a stadium LIVE?
Well, watching a game in a stadium is totally different from watching it in front of a television, for sure. The atmosphere and the experience of either supporting your team or just being there as a neutral spectator could be thrilling or downrightnightmarish. Are you ready to go for the best time of your life? Read on.

1. Eat before going to the stadium. Meals sold at stadiums could be very costly. It's also good for your stomach to eat first, just in case the trip to the stadium takes a long time.

2. Keep everything simple. Only bring your ticket, identification card, and some money. Buy your ticket far ahead from the official seller/box office. An identification card is for emergency purposes, for example if there is a police check. Money is needed in case you need to pay for a bus fare and/or drinks and light snacks sold at the stadium.

3. Go to stadium with minimum fuss. Only use private transport if it's necessary. If you enjoy walking, then go on foot if possile (calculate the distance and also your walking ability and endurance first). This is important to avoid getting caught in traffic jams and/or trying to get a parking space in packed parking lots.

4. Wear a neutral jersey if possible in order to avoid offending the supporters of either team. The majority of people watching a live football match are usually fans from both competing teams. It is therefore important to be "neutral" to avoid being a target of supporters' rage. should you wear your favorite team's costume, pick a seat among the fans of the same team.

5. Arrive early and look for your seat. A time interval of fifteen to thirty minutes before the match starts is desirable. This is to avoid hassles spotting your seat in the event of a "full house" or crowded stadium.

6. Be patient and don't be easily provoked by other supporters. You don't want to hurt yourself, do you? Be prepared always and don't react hastily if a bad thing happens to you.

March 28, 2005

Three months later, tsunami also occurred in Sumatera. Off the coast of Nias Earthquake measuring 8.7 Richter which sparked a major tsunami that killed 1,300 people on Nias Island, West Sumatra.

I'm sure lots of you use the well-known Facebook, and I'm sure many of you are familiar with their new little chat system they have put into play. Biggest drawback of Facebook chat is the lack of list of emoticons so we have to guess or remember all emoticon codes we want to use. But with our little Facebook Emoticon you can put list of Facebook emoticons right on your profile page so you can easier use smileys in chat. One thing they don't show, is the CODES to put smiley's in your text. So, I'm going to show them to you.

Some time ago I accidentally discovered a new emote code like the buttons that can be used for chatting.

Mysterious Code in the U.S. Cyber Command Logo

just a random number, that's a chunk of code passwords listed in the new logo U.S. Cyber Command.

Technology magazine, Wired, challenged his readers to uncover secret codes on the logo which also illustrated the globe, a bald eagle perched on a shield decorated with crossed swords and the thunder and the child is key.

Wired Comments that respond to various kinds of answers ranging from a row of numbers and letters mean one by one until the suggestion to interpret it based on tongue-in-check.

"It is a passcode to enter a WiFi network at their headquarters," writes kmadams85, one reader who tried to crack the code of secret U.S. military agency that.

Many interpret that it is a series of missions to U.S. Cyber Command

Following the General Availability (GA) of Office 2010, Microsoft has provided a range of content designed to streamline the adoption of the productivity suite. “Operations guide for Microsoft Office 2010” is an illustrative example in this regard, with the company offering customers looking to embrace Office 2010 guidance on how to maintain and manage the suite in their organization. Obviously, the documentation is set up to simplify administrative tasks related to Office 2010 after the product has been deployed within an IT infrastructure.

“This book provides information about how to maintain and manage your installation after you have deployed Microsoft Office 2010. The audience for this book includes IT generalists, IT operations, help desk and deployment staff, IT messaging administrators, and consultants,” Microsoft stated.

IT admins will be able to tap a variety of information, including how to maintain and update Office 2010, but also details about the Office 2010 Administrative Template files (ADM,ADMX, ADML) and Office Customization Tool. At the same time, the Redmond company describes various tasks such as applying refreshes to the latest iteration of its productivity suite, but also removing Outlook 2010 in favor of an older version, and even installing and uninstalling languages after Office 2010 is in place.

Tasks such as the management of users' configurations for Office 2010 are also dealt with in the whitepaper, just as the need to modify configurations after deploying the productivity suite. “After you install Office 2010 on users' computers, you can make changes to the installation by using the same tool that you used to customize the installation originally. By running the Office Customization Tool (OCT) and creating or modifying a Setup customization file (.msp file), you can customize the Office installation. For example, you can add or remove features, modify user settings, or add or remove files or registry entries,” Microsoft stated.

VLC Media Player 1.1.0 Final for Windows 7

Almost a month after offering early adopters the Release Candidate of VLC 1.1.0, VideoLAN wrapped up and released the final Build of the media player, sporting a wide range of enhancements. Even as early as the RC, version 1.1.0 of the VLC Media Player brought to the table a consistent evolution in terms of performance stability and reliability, but also expanded codec support, and numerous bug fixes. According to VideoLAN, the latest release of VLC is better equipped to dealing with HD content, will deliver a superior audio experience to its predecessors, comes with extensions and web improvements, has more to offer to developers, and is faster and lighter.

As far as HD capabilities are concerned, VLC 1.1.0 now features “GPU decoding on Windows Vista and 7, using DxVA2 for H.264, VC-1 and MPEG-2. GPU decoding on GNU/Linux, using VAAPI for H.264, VC-1 and MPEG-2. DSP decoding using OpenMax IL, for compatible embedded devices. Improved support for MKV HD, including seeking fixes, and 7.1 channels codecs. [And] support for new codecs, like Blu-Ray subtitles, MPEG-4 lossless and VP8,” VideoLAN stated.

The fact that VLC 1.1.0 plays nice with VP8 is a consequence of the introduction of WebM decoding and encoding support. In addition to improved web plugins, the recently released version of VLC also delivers improved streaming capabilities. At the same time, the media player sports new add-ons and script frameworks, which should make it easier for developers to extend the application. VideoLAN also worked to streamline VLC 1.1.0 as much as possible, having boosted the decoding speed by up to 40% especially in HD resolutions. On top of this, the application’s code has been rewritten, and the overall functionality of the media player optimized.

In terms of Audio experience, VLC 1.1.0 now offers “integrated playlist in the Qt4 interface. Multiple views (like album art) in the playlist in the Qt4 interface. Support for AMR-NB, Mpeg-4 ALS, Vorbis 6.1/7.1, FLAC 6.1/7.1 and WMAS. CDDB and CD-Text works now on the Windows port when listening to CD-Audio. Support for DVD-Audio files (.aob). Improved meta-data and album-art support,” according to VideoLAN.

Windows 8: 32-bit vs. 64-bit

The installed base of 64-bit (x64) Windows 7 has reached 46% in June 2010, vs. 54% for 32-bit (x86) Windows 7, according to statistics released by Microsoft. It is clear from the data shared by the Redmond company that end users are starting to choose x64 systems and equivalent Windows 7 editions over older x86 architectures. The software giant underlines that this is an increasing trend, and that it expects 64-bit Windows 7 to become the norm, and 32-bit Windows 7 the exception. Of course, the question now is, what will the future hold for Windows 8?

Microsoft does have a few options. It could of course continue to serve both 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows 8, just as it did with Windows 7 and Windows Vista. Or it could drop the x86 flavors of Windows 8 altogether, and produce only x64 Windows 8 SKUs. This would certainly be a bold move for the software giant, but Microsoft is sure not to come to a conclusion in this regard without carefully considering the overall impact.

In June 2010, just 1% of all Windows XP machines were running a 64-bit copy of the OS, and just 11% of Vista computers had the x64 version installed. The vast majority of XP users, 99% are still running 32-bit systems, and the same is valid for 89% of Vista customers.

Only now, a little over eight months since the advent of Window 7, does 64-bit computing appear to be on the brink of becoming ubiquitous, and making 32-bit architectures a thing of the past. x64 processors have been available for a while now, but only 64-bit Windows 7 seems to have gained sufficient traction, in concert with new OEM computers shipped worldwide, to push x86 processors onto their shelve in history.

There already is a precedent. In 2009, Microsoft offered the first x64-only Windows operating system. With the introduction of Windows Server 2008 R2 (Windows 7 Server), the software giant dumped support for x86 processors completely. Could a similar move be considered for Windows 8?

End users are certainly behind the x64 adoption wave. 64-bit platforms and modern CPUs pave the way for parallel processing, mean more RAM (up to 192 GB for Windows 7), better security etc. But it seems that the entire world is slowly arriving to a consensus, as far as 64-bit is concerned.

There are factors outside of Redmond to take into consideration

“OEMs today have fully embraced 64-bit. We have seen many OEMs convert entire consumer lines of PCs to 64-bit only – which can be seen quite a bit today in North America. According to Stephen Baker at NPD, 77% of PCs sold at retail in April 2010 in the U.S. had a 64-bit edition of Windows 7 pre-installed. And businesses are adopting Windows 7 64-bit as well. According to Gartner, by 2014 75% of all business PCs will be running a 64-bit edition of Windows. Intel recently migrated to 64-bit Windows 7,” revealed Brandon LeBlanc, Windows Communications Manager on the Windows Client Communications Team.

“As I mentioned previously, there are more compatible hardware and software for PCs today thanks to the amazing work from our partners (ISVs and IHVs) making their products compatible with 64-bit. Through the Windows Logo Program (the “Compatible with Windows 7” logo today), hardware partners are required to develop 64-bit drivers for their devices and software partners are required to have their applications compatible with 64-bit Windows 7. This groundwork was laid with the Windows Logo Program for Windows Vista and carries through to today with Windows 7,” revealed Brandon LeBlanc, Windows Communications Manager on the Windows Client Communications Team,” LeBlanc added.

Of course it is still too early to ask Microsoft in which direction it will go with Windows 8. And too early for the company to start sharing its plans with the public. The unconfirmed schedule for the delivery of Windows 8 indicates that Windows 7’s successor will be offered in mid-2012. In this context, by the summer of 2011, when the first Beta of Windows 8 should drop, we can also expect the company to reveal whether its next Windows client will be x64-only or not.

There are aspects independent from Microsoft that will undoubtedly influence this decision. If the adoption of x64 PCs and Windows 7 continues at the same rate, then a x86 flavor of Windows 8 will be less likely. But if a high uptake rate works in concert with original equipment manufacturers also dumping 32-bit, and with the ecosystem of hardware and software solutions around Windows shifting the focus to 64-bit entirely, then a 32-bit Windows 8 would simply no longer make sense. It’s worth noting although that just 2 years ahead of the reported delivery date for Windows 8, Adobe still has to produce a 64-bit version of Flash, although the plug-in is ubiquitous, and x64 Internet Explorer has been available for quite some time. And Adobe are by no means not alone.

Windows 8 Has Been Cooking for Over a Year Now

The next iterations of the Windows client and Office productivity suite have been cooking for over a year now. Of course, for the vast majority of this period, the two products have been in planning stage, meaning that no actual coding was done. Still, it is critical to note that Microsoft has started focusing on the evolution of Windows and Office, even before Windows 7 and Office 15 were finalized. Specifically, the Redmond company has been planning the Windows 8 and Office 15 releases.

Ken Johnston, the Group Manager for the Microsoft Office Internet Platform & Operations team, offered proof of this in June 2009. At that time, Windows 7 was in Release Candidate (RC) stage, and Office 2010 was approximately over half a year away from the Beta milestone. And yet, the software giant was already looking ahead, and discussing what was next, after Windows 7 and Office 2010, formerly codenamed Office 14.

“More than one hundred senior engineering managers and architects along with a few executives gathered this week to discuss some of the evolving ideas around Office 15 for a one day offsite focused on improving the Office engineering system. One of the key elements of the meeting was to bring in new thinking from outside of the Office organization. The first guest presenter was Mike Kelly who had been part of the Office organization before joining the Microsoft core engineering strategy team Engineering Excellence. In his presentation he shared some really amazing prototypes of new collaboration and build system tools as well as some industry analysis. The second presenter was Craig Fleischman, also a former Office manager who was now working on Windows. Craig presented some of the plans the Windows team has for Windows 8,” Johnston indicated at the time.

“Right about now most readers are probably hoping I’ll spill some information about Windows 8 and Office 15 but sorry, I can’t do that. All I can say is that while neither Windows 7 nor Office 14 have shipped, we are hard at work developing plans for the next versions. Craig finally got to a slide about Windows 8 and services,” he added. (emphasis added)

Speculations reveal that Windows 8 might have already hit the Milestone 1 (M1) stage of the development process. Of course, Microsoft is completely mum on the Windows 8 project, and the company is expected to remain that way until the Beta drops, sometime in mid-2011. If all goes well, Microsoft could release Windows 8 around the summer of 2012.

European Union Urges Transparency existence of UFOs

BRUSSEL - A member of parliament urged EU member states to unlock the secrets of an unknown flying object (UFO).

MPs named Mario Borghezio it gives a reason if society has the right to know about everything related to the objects whose existence is still a pro-contra.

"The EU needs the documents 'X Files' itself, where all people can access information on everything about UFOs, including data held by the military," said Borghezio, as quoted by the Straits Times, Thursday (07/08/2010).

According Borghezio, all governments in the countries of Europe must disclose information, and stop what he called a 'systematic silencing'.

In a data held Borghezio, years ago, the United Kingdom published online approximately 4000 pages which contain about humans meeting with aliens, which occurred during the 1980s until the 1990s.

And during the last three years the British defense ministry has gradually melepaskn confidential information about UFOs, in line with the demands of the Freedom of Information.

Duel 'Read' JavaScript, Froyo & iOS4 Who Won?

SAN FRANCISCO - Apple and Google has just released a new version of their operating system, ie, IOS 4 and Android 2.2 or Froyo. By the analysis, both OS are pitted ability to read JavaScript. So who won?

Take NASA's Space Exploration Through Game

WASHINGTON - NASA has canceled plans to return to the Moon, but the video game lovers can explore the lunar landscape with a new free online game released by the U.S. space agency.

Game called "Moonbase Alpha" allows players to join the exploration team game in progress at the Moon's south pole with futuristic 3D model.

"In the Moonbase Alpha, you are invited to contribute to become an astronaut working for human expansion and further research," NASA said in explanation of the game, as quoted by AFP on Wednesday (07/07/2010).

Expeditions in the plane suffered damage due to blow the meteor. This is where the adventure will begin immediately.

"With limited by time, you and the team had to repair and replace equipment to restore the production of oxygen into the settlements," NASA said.

To achieve their mission, the player of this game should use the interactive command center, and mobile robotic units memperbaikin. Players also test the dexterity of the right and optimal allocation of resources available, because it is the key to the success of the whole team.

NASA says this game is designed to involve and educate students about technology, employment opportunities and space exploration in the future.

Moonbase Alpha can be played by one or up to six players. NASA said the game was the beginning of a NASA project to develop online multiplayer games.
