At some point in life, you may have asked :'If there is God who really cares about us, Why does he permit so much suffering?' All of us have experienced suffering or have known someone who has.
Indeed, throughout history people have suffered pain and heartache from war, cruelty, injustice, poverty, sickness, and the death of loved ones. In our 20th century alone, wars have killed over a 100 million people. Hundred if millions of others have been injured or have lost homes or possessions. Ever so many horrible things have happened in our time, resulting in great sorrow, many tears and a sense of hopelessness on the part of countless numbers of people.
Some become embittered and feel that if there is God, he does not really care about us. Or they may even feel that there is no God. For instance, a man who suffered from ethnic persecution that caused the death of friends and family in world War I asked: "where was God when we needed him?" Another, who survived the murder of millions Nazis in world War I, was so grieved by the suffering he saw that he said :"if you could lick my heart it would poison you".
Thus, many people cannot understand why a God would allow bad things to happen. They question whether he really cares about us or whether he exist at all. And many of them feel that suffering will always be a part of human existence..

25-year-old labourer, Micheal Udor, who allegedly collected N86,000 on the pretext of working on a farmland, was on Monday released on N50, 000 bail on the orders of an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun.

The accused obtained N86,000 from the complainants with a promise to work for them as yearly labourer on their farms but he refused to do so.

The accused, who could not meet his bail conditions, was, however, remanded in prison pending when he would perfect his bail conditions.
Magistrate Risikat Olayemi, who gave the ruling, also granted the accused one surety in like sum.
Olayemi said the surety, who must swear to an affidavit of means, should also reside within the court’s jurisdiction and present two recent passport-size photographs of himself and that of the accused.
Nobody showed up as surety for Udor and he was taken to Ile-Ife Prison.
The accused is facing charges of fraud and conspiracy.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Monday Ojiezele told the court that Udor and five others now at large conspired and collected the money on Feb. 15 at about 1.30 a.m. at Alapadi Village near Ile-Ife.
According to Ojiezele, the accused obtained N86,000 from the complainants — Lateef Raji and Raufu Olajide — with a promise to work for them as yearly labourer on their farms but he refused to do so.
The offences contravened Sections 419 and 517 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
Counsel to the accused, Mrs Module Olufemi , urged the court to grant him bail, promising he will not jump bail.

The case was adjourned until May 8.

Villa Chapel women honour Aisha Buhari on Mothers’ Day

ABUJA-Female worshipers at the Aso Presidential Villa Chapel have described Mrs. Aisha Buhari, Wife of President Muhammadu Buhari as a true mother of the nation.

The recognition came on the heels of the Mother’s Day celebrated on Sunday.

At a Church service which was attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, his wife, Mrs Dolapo also charged the women to teach their children good virtues.

Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Deaconess Joan Ayo, who spoke for the women commended Mrs Buhari who was represented by Mrs Grace Chamah on her supportive roles to her husband.

“She is a mother and the mother of the nation and she has demonstrated that in so many ways,” she said.

Recalling that the First Lady was deeply worried by the health status of her husband recently and as such did not actually celebrate her past birthday, Deaconess Ayo said: “Now we want to use this opportunity to celebrate her”.

Mrs Buhari was therefore presented with a portrait which depicted the role of a mother in the upbringing of a child.

In her sermon at the Service, the Wife of the Vice President, Dolapo Osinbajo, urged mothers in the country to teach their children good virtues.

She spoke from the book of Proverb 31: 1-10 and Judges 4:4-9.

“The key thing in motherhood is the children. We need to teach our children the right way. Man shall not live by bread alone; so mothers need to teach our children spiritual things”, she said.

Citing Mark 6:12-28, she remarked that all mothers were good and godly.

She said that King Herod’s wife was a worst case of motherhood in the bible, saying “She is anti-human, anti-gospel and anti-Christ”.

Mrs. Osinbajo who also made reference to the life of Deborah in the Bible said that be a great lesson for women was recorded in Judges 5:6-7.

“This is the kind of mothers we need today. She is a woman of great strength. There is a call today for Nigerian mothers to arise. Deborah arose for the people then.

“Mothers, it is a day for celebration and it is also a day to remember our calling. A day to remember what the Lord requires of us,” She said.

The Chaplain of the Villa Chapel, Pastor Seyi Malomo, described mothers as “a special creature made from the refined product.”

He congratulated all mothers on the celebration. Special gifts were given to the wife and mother of the vice president; the Wife of the Chaplain, Mrs Obiageli Malomo; Wife of the church’s administrator, Mrs Tina Ambi, among others.

Biafra: Okorocha under fire for attacking Nnamdi Kanu

The Indigenous People of Biafra has slammed governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha for describing the
struggle of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu as an insult to the Ndigbo nation.
IPOB believes that what seemed to be an insult to some people about Kanu, was that he was telling them “the bitter truth they did not want to hear”.
In a statement issued by the Media and Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful, the group said the reason people like Okorocha were propagating lies against Kanu was because IPOB had said that the All Progressives Congress under President Muhammadu Buhari had a mission to islamise Nigeria.
According to them, “It is well known to everyone in Nigeria, both the government, that they don’t like to hear simple truth and other things that is eating deep into the contraption called Nigeria.
“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu propagates the truth to the whole world which people with good conscience around the globe understood and nicknamed him the prophet of our time because almost his teachings and prophecies on Radio Biafra have come to pass.

The trio invited by Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Genort Rohr, are youthful Chelsea FC and England U20 defender, Ola Aina, as well as attacking midfielders Josh Maja (Sunderland) and Ebere Eze (Queens Park Rangers) who all arrived in the London camp of the Eagles on Saturday.

EGBESU FURY: Buhari gives Tompolo kiss of life

Tompolo, also the former General Officer Commanding, GOC, MEND, and Ibe-Ebidouwei of Ijaw nation, visited President Buhari few months into his administration in Abuja and assured him of his co-operation, but events later on, especially the bombing of pipelines by militants and hunt for the ex-militant leader over alleged sleaze, not only put a wedge between them, but compelled Tompolo to go into hiding until date.

Misreading Buhari! Last week, the news was everywhere that President Buhari had ordered the immediate return of the golden sword, seized by soldiers from the 4th Brigade, Benin City, Edo State, May 28, last year, while searching for Tompolo in the heat of oil facility bombing in the area.
However, checks by NDV, weekend, showed that neither the Presidency nor military authorities have contacted the Gbaramatu monarchy on the return of the golden sword, but the people are appreciative and hopeful. But some people strangely claim that the Egbesu goddess prevailed on under the weather Buhari to order a return of the looted symbol of office. The sources insisted that the strangers, who touch the sword normally, come under a curse and the deity, if provoked further, could harm the chief priest under whose custody the sceptre came into danger, Tompolo in this instance.
Roar from hideout : It was, therefore, not surprising that Tompolo yelled from his hideout, last year, about the missing sceptre, but not many understood the reason for the throbbing alarm. In fact, he first screamed on June 11, 17 days after the disappearance and exactly 31 days after, he renewed his apprehension in an open letter to President Buhari.
Traditional ruler of the kingdom
His words: “Today is exactly 31 days after the invasion of the traditional headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Oporoza town by your military, led by Brig. General Faruk Yahaya of the 4th Brigade, Benin City in search of me. They came on the allegation that I am the one behind the bombing and destruction of crude oil facilities in the Niger Delta region, and the incident happened in my absence.”
“But, I was informed that the army was on the loose and committed so much abomination in the community. Imagine, the traditional ruler of the kingdom was literally placed on house arrest for one week. “As I said in my previous publications, the military made away with the symbol of authority of the Gbaramatu people from the Egbesu Shrine, which I am the Chief Priest. They also made away with other valuables worth several millions of naira from the community,” he said.
Tompolo, who disclosed that the King’s golden crown was earlier stolen in 2009 during a military raid on the kingdom, said: “Traditional worship centres were desecrated, property were looted and above all, the multi-billion naira ultra-modern magnificent palace of the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom was burned down, and his golden crown was stolen by the military.” He appealed: “Mr. President Sir, please kindly direct your army to return the looted items, including the symbol of authority…”
The gods could kill Tompolo… National President of Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative, IPDI, Mr. Austin Ozobo, who captured the deep pains of Tompolo on the golden sword told NDV: “Except it is returned, a time will come when the symbol of authority wants to return home, it will compel the Ijaw nation to go into serious war with her enemies to return home the symbol of authority. Equally, the camp of the enemies will not be at peace; there will be tribulation and grave destruction in the land of the enemy.”
“Another implication is that if Tompolo fails to fight for its return, the gods may decide to kill Tompolo and raise another warrior to fight for her enemy to return the stolen staff of authority back to base.
“Despite the fact that Tompolo is on the run, he knows the implication and that is why he is telling Buhari to compel the military men, who stole the sword to return it. He is trying to avoid a situation where he will be either killed or forced by the gods to lead another war against the government or Ijaw nation being compelled to go into a serious war with the government one day to return the Egbesu staff of authority,” he asserted.
Curse on the enemy:Ozobo stated: “The gods of the land are angry at the unlawful invasion of their privacy. Cursed are the hands that took away the insignia and they are doomed already. The only thing that will annul the curse is for them to return the symbol and present themselves for purification. This is why Tompolo is worried being the current chief priest.”
Motivation to live: Looking at the federal government’s renewed interest in opening the Nigeria Maritime University, NMU, Okerenkoko, for academic studies, order to release the golden sword, recent release of 10 Niger Delta agitators held for months without trial by security agencies and other peace moves, Tompolo, even in his hideaway, knows that President Buhari has given him another reason to.
With the way things are going, he can be sure that political solution is not ruled out in the case against him, which he insisted all along, was politically masterminded.

A man, Femi Orojo, has allegedly molested and impregnated his 13-year-old step-daughter in Okitipupa, in the Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The suspect allegedly committed the offence in October 2015, while his wife and mother of the victim, Bunmi, was not at home.

According to the mother, who had been married to the suspect for the past six years without any child, the suspect took to his heels after confessing to the crime. Bunmi explained that she discovered that the girl was five months pregnant last week.

She said, “When I asked her who was responsible for the pregnancy, she started crying, saying if she told me she would die. I took her to my pastor and after much pressure, she confessed that it was my husband.

“She told my pastor that when I was not around, my husband entered into her room with a machete and molested her. After the rape, my child said he brought out a red handkerchief and warned her not to tell anybody or else she would die.”

The police spokesman, Mr. Femi Joseph, said the suspect had yet to be arrested, adding that investigation into the matter was still ongoing.

A woman shocked men of the law enforcement agency when she walked into a police station to report a rape attack on her while holding her attacker's s*x organ.

A 32 year old woman walked into a police station claiming to have been raped - clutching her alleged attacker's pen*s in her hand.

The woman told officers she had been repeatedly raped by her brother-in-law for days.

Times of India reports that she alleged on the final occasion, she faked consent and sliced off his genitals with a sickle.

She presented stunned authorities with the bloodied organ claiming it was the only way she could stop the attacks .

Police rushed to a house in the Churhat area in Sidhi district at around 6am on Thursday. But before any medical help could be administered, they found the suspect had committed suicide.

The woman told officers her husband works in Nashik and she was living with her-brother-in-law.

"When he forced himself on me, I faked consent and severed his privates with a sickle," she reportedly told police.

The man's body was found hanging from a tree near the house. The woman was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Sidhi SP Abid Khan told the paper: "This is a rare case and has to be investigated for a proper charge sheet."

Police said the woman is mentally stable and has no regrets to what she has done.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that President Muhammadu Buhari ‘detests the Judiciary and the Rule of Law’. The party made this known on Sunday in a statement titled ‘2ndLetter from JSC Ngwuta, Again Accused Amaechi & Others…Confirmed that President Buhari Is Against Justice And The Rule of Law’ and signed by Prince Dayo Adeyeye, National Publicity Secretary.

The attention of the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is once again drawn to another letter written to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) and Chairman of the National Judicial Council (NJC), Justice Mahmud Mohammed dated 18th of October, 2016, in which Justice Nwali Sylvester Ngwuta, Justice of the Supreme Court accused former Governor of Rivers State and now Minister of transport, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, the former Governor of Abia State and now Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu and President Muhmmadu Buhari on their involvement and hot pursuit to induce and subvert justice in favour of the APC Governorship Candidates of Rivers State and that of the Labour Party in Ebonyi State who is to switch to APC if he had claimed victory at the Appeal Court. Ridiculous! This latest allegation is another indictment on the Executive Arm of Government and the serial complicity and involvement of the President, members and leaders of his Party, the APC, the DSS, especially, the former Governor of Rivers State who has been mentioned twice in both petitions written by the Honourable Justices of the Supreme Court within few hours interval. ABUJA – The National Judicial Council, NJC, has described as “unacceptable”, call by the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, for judges currently under investigation over allegations of corruption, to step down until their innocence is fully and completely established. In a statement Friday night, the NJC which is headed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, said it would neither suspend nor ask any of the accused Judges to proceed on compulsory leave as recommended by the NBA, insisting that such action would contrary to the provisions of Section 158 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.
It said: “The National Judicial Council is not unaware of the judgment of the Court of public opinion on the recent events between the Department of State Services (“DSS”) and the Judiciary; and the various views expressed by Legal Practitioners, Academics, Politicians and the general public, particularly the current position of the President of the Nigerian Bar Association to wit:- “We therefore strongly recommend that, without prejudice to the innocence or otherwise of the Judges involved in the ongoing investigations, they should recuse themselves from further judicial functions or required to proceed on compulsory leave until their innocence is fully and completely established or until the conclusion of all judicial or disciplinary proceedings”.“NJC is constrained to inform the general public that its Constitutional mandate is to process and recommend to the Executive at the Federal and State levels, the appointment, and or the removal of Judicial Officers from office, including exercise of its disciplinary control of suspending and or warning Judicial Officers; after complying with due process and the Rule of Law.“Since the creation of NJC vide the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, it has exercised its powers and performed its functions within its Constitutional limitations.“Thus, the current position of the Nigerian Bar Association vis-à-vis its recommendation that the affected Judicial Officers involved in the on-going investigation of Judicial Officers by the DSS, be requested to proceed on compulsory leave until the conclusion of all disciplinary proceedings against them, is unacceptable to the NJC; as it breaches the 2014 Revised Judicial Discipline Regulations formulated by NJC pursuant to Section 160 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.“It is to be reiterated also that by the provisions of Section 158 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, NJC shall not be subject to the direction or control of any other authority or person while exercising its disciplinary power of control over Judicial Officers in the Federation.“The Members of the public are hereby informed that the mechanism that will determine a Judicial Officer to be directed or requested to proceed on compulsory leave or be suspended from office, is a disciplinary power that NJC can only exercise after initiating disciplinary proceeding on the complaint or petition forwarded against the Judge, after he has been found culpable. Therefore, to act on the recommendation of the NBA, it is not only contrary to the provisions of Section 158 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, but it means NJC will direct any Judicial Officer that has been petitioned even if the allegations contained therein are frivolous and baseless, to proceed on compulsory leave or be suspended from office without complying with the Rule of Law. “That is not the understanding of NJC of the intention of the framers of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended vis-à-vis its Constitutional powers and functions on initiation of disciplinary proceedings culminating in suspension of Judicial Officers. Thus, to act on the request of the Departments of Government and the recommendation of the NBA, the 808 Judicial Officers that had been petitioned and accused of professional misconduct and or corrupt practices, without investigation by NJC, would have all been suspended or sent on compulsory leave and the Courts would have been deserted. “NJC is not unmindful of the concern of the public on a situation whereby a Judicial Officer is being investigated and or prosecuted for commission of a criminal offence such as Murder or Robbery; and whether he is not supposed to be requested or directed to proceed on compulsory leave or be suspended from office. In the circumstance, unless the Subject Judge accused of commission of the offence of Murder or Robbery is petitioned to NJC, it shall not assume the disciplinary power of control over Judicial Officers to suspend or direct the Subject Judge to proceed on compulsory leave. “Thus, NJC can only direct any Judge alleged of committing such criminal offences, to go on compulsory leave or be suspended from office if he has been investigated and found by NJC culpable of misconduct.“The participation of NBA Members in the Emergency Meeting of NJC was necessitated by the unfolding events between the DSS and the Judiciary, bordering on administration of Justice.“Suffice it to say that the decision of NJC in respect of the recent events and the current state of the Judiciary, particularly in condemning the invasion and arrest of the Judicial Officers by the DSS and considers it as a threat to Independence of the Judiciary, which portends great danger to our democracy; and a clear attempt by the DSS to humiliate, intimidate, denigrate and cow the Judiciary, was unanimously taken by the Members of the Council present, including the President and other Members of the Nigerian Bar Association at its last Emergency Meeting which was held on 11th October, 2016”, read t statement signed by Acting Director of Information at the NJC, Mr. Soji Oye. It will be recalled that the NBA had on Thursday, said it was necessary that the judges stepped down in order not to only protect the sanctity and integrity of judicial processes that may involve the judges concerned, but to also safeguard the public image of the judiciary as an institution

As the recent comment by President Muhammadu Buhari that his wife belongs in his kitchen continues to spark controversies across the country, renowned Nollywood actress, Chioma Akpata, has joined the league of female folks, raising their voices of concern.
Buhari had reacted to an ‘explosive’ interview his wife granted the BBC, where she said she may not back her husband at the next election unless he reshuffles his cabinet.

It has consequently hired international forensic lawyers, accountants and other experts to assist in the investigation. This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, Sen. Rufai Ibrahim, in Abuja yesterday being 20th of October 2016.
