Atos-Bull, the multinational company of digital services, is still counting on excentia’s accompaniment for the process management and continuous improvement of the Valencian Ministry of Health.

This project has been extended and it includes a full-time professional, from excentia, located in the offices of the Ministry, who is mainly responsible for measuring service-level agreements (SLA) and the overall quality of the service provided, as well as making proposals for service improvements in order to meet these agreements.

From excentia, we are very happy with the continuation of this project and we hope to keep collaborating with Atos-Bull in this and other projects in the future.

Due to the increasing concern in the market about technical safety, excentia has signed an agreement of collaboration with R3 Cybersecurity, an expert company in computer security. This agreement allows us to extend our current service portfolio and offer a complete experience in software quality and security, with the highest level of commitment and guarantee.

R3 Cybersecurity has got headquarters in Brussels and Barcelona, and they are experts in security consulting, risk analysis, implementation of security management systems (based on ISO 27000), penetration testing, digital forensic analysis, security monitoring, etc., aspects very well related to software quality.

Our new partner has over 17 years experience in cyber security and with important references as European Commission or NATO.

INDRA trusts excentia to ensure its software quality

INDRA, the multinational of ICT services and integration of systems, can count on excentia’s help to ensure and guarantee the quality of their own internal software development.

This project, which is going to last a year, is located in INDRA’s headquarters in Madrid and consists of a deep initial study, the implementation of a complex process of continuous inspection of the code (which comprises up to 20 software projects) and regular reporting and training for the technical team of INDRA.

In excentia, we are especially excited about this project due to the customer relevance and the challenges, and we are sure that, with the commitment of both companies, the quality software will be guaranteed!

Following our policy of development of plugins and own products, “excentia labs” has released a new plugin to facilitate monitoring of the time spent on every project in JIRA. The easiest and fastest way, with just a click, that is the Time Tracking Stats plugin for JIRA.

Thanks to this plugin, you will be able to get all the information regarding time tracking in a project in JIRA, such as the estimation, adjustment, contracted hours VS used hours, the contribution of each team member in terms of hours, etc. It also includes a section with statistics from all registered times by version (estimated, recorded, balance, percentage of the project…).

Time Tracking Stats is available now on the Atlassian Marketplace to download. From excentia we hope this plugin useful for all of you and we will continue working to develop tools that make easier all the aspects in management and quality.

excentia gets the "Innovative Enterprise (SME)" stamp

After several months of negotiations and analysis by the Ministry of Economy in Spain, in late December we received, at last, the favorable resolution that categorizes excentia as "innovative SME". This resolution is valid until December 31st, 2018.

In September 2015, we sent the application to the Ministry and, after studying our request, they have signed us up in the Public Register of Innovative SMEs and sent the stamp that certifies it, which means, among other advantages:

To be able to benefit from a national technological Fund called “ICO”.
The opportunity to participate in innovative public procurement.
Obtaining Innovative SME stamp.

From excentia we are very proud of the resolution and we hope to keep demonstrating our capacity and innovative character for many more years. To do this, we will not stop working on how to surprise our customers with quality solutions to the complicated world of software.

Alba Cells trust excentia for its process quality

Alba Cells, the Catalan company which created the first electron accelerator in Spain to produce synchrotron light (light that allows us to visualize the atomic structure of materials), has decided to trust excentia for its improvement in the process quality.

Specifically, they have acquired licenses of JIRA, JIRA Service Desk and Confluence, tools from the Australian company Atlassian, and they will count on the experience and services of excentia as Atlassian Experts. With all this, they will unify all its internal management and connect the various departments with each other so that they work and evolve together.

For excentia, this is a new and exciting challenge, the first one we have had in Catalonia and we thank Alba Cells for the trust placed in us, and we hope to be able to keep working together in future projects :)

NISA Hospitals in Valencia choose excentia again as Atlassian Expert

NISA Hospitals, the group of private health services leader in its sector in Valencia has hired an extension of its current license of Confluence and it is going to incorporate JIRA too, the issues and general processes tracker that enables its development in an efficient way. NISA Hospitals had previously worked with excentia for the implementation of Confluence, the collaborative work platform with a "wiki" philosophy that belongs to the company Atlassian.

With the expansion of Confluence and the JIRA implementation, NISA Hospitals have two main management and collaborative work tools that will facilitate their everyday life and increase and improve their IT processes management. From excentia, the only company in the Valencian region classified as Atlassian Expert, we will provide support in the implementation and change management.

excentia launches its flagship product, 3D Code Metrics (the old City Model), with its version 3.2.1, fully compatible with SonarQube 5.2.

With this plugin, you can view in 3D the main quality characteristics of your source code, represented as a city, so that will allow you to easily interpret the quality of your code and detect anomalies in your software project at the fastest way possible. In addition, it is fully customizable, so you can adjust the size and color according to your preferences to represent any measure that is of your interest (bad coding practices, bugs, code coverage, refactoring, etc.).

Full house during excentia conferences at VLCTesting 2015

On 11th and 12th November took place the biggest testing event held in Valencia: VLCTesting 2015.

excentia was one of the sponsors and had to give a talk and organize a seminar. They were a huge success!

The talk, with the help of our quality expert Ricardo Garcia, caught the attention of the audience and put a touch of humor in the morning. It was titled "If I don’t test it, I don’t believe it" and it focused on the different types of testing that can or should be done and the specific weight of each one in the whole process of software testing.

The seminar, entitled "Fix the leak With SonarQube" was one of the busiest and caused a lot of excitement. It was given by two of the most experienced consultants in excentia, José María Cubel and David Garcia, and based on the immediate "feedback" received there, attendees were very satisfied with what they had learnt.

In excentia we are very proud of the result and very pleased to have been able to share our experience with all attendees. Congratulations once again to the organizers to lead this exciting event in Valencia and we hope to participate in many days like this, so among everyone we can reach a less complicated world of software :)

New version released of our plugin "JIRA Cards"

Excentia Labs, the new development unit in excentia for own products, has released a new version of "Cards Plugin for JIRA" the plugin that allows you to "kanbanize" any project with JIRA just by installing it: fast, simple, useful.

Specifically, this is an improved version (1.1.1) which has a new design, more in line with the JIRA interface, cleaner board with smaller cards in the user interface and, most importantly, supports JIRA 7.

This new version is now available on the Atlassian “Marketplace”. In excentia we are very pleased with the launch of this magnificent Excentia Labs unit, and hopefully we will get to place in the market many useful and interesting products to you :)

excentia gathers its team to communicate quarterly results and an organizational change

Yes, we admit it. In excentia we love "partying" and took every chance to get together. This time, the meeting was due to the communication of results for the second quarter of the year and to introduce the new organizational chart.

One of the main values of the company, which we keep to the letter, is transparency. And that is why, about twice a year, the team meet to communicate and publicize the results and the figures related to excentia. And with a new line of business (external quality) and increasing own developments, it has decided to change the organizational structure of the company, which will enable more efficient and agile general management and a significant improvement in customer management and projects.

excentia publishes a new plugin for JIRA

excentia has announced its new contribution to the Atlassian ecosystem with "3D Issues Map", a display of JIRA issues and incidents in 3D like it had been never done before.

This plugin allows you to get an overview of the structure and distribution of the issues in your JIRA project, while detects patterns and anomalies thereof. It also includes the option to zoom in conflict zones so that no detail of the process and the status of the project is lost.

While presenting "3D issues Map", it has entered in the contest that promotes the Australian company itself, Codegeist, for the best developed plugin. So far, it has received very good reviews from the Atlassian team and the jury: "This looks a like a super cool add-on" (Luke Kilpatrick, Developer Programs Manager, Atlassian); "This looks like a really cool add-on" (Paul Friesen, chair), "Awesome Antonio!" (Nick Wade, moderator, referring to our Head of the Innovation, Architecture and Quality area (CTO) and co-founder of excentia).

The product is already on the "Marketplace" of Atlassian for its download, which makes excentia’s team very proud. And from here, we will continue to develop products that make life easier for users and increase the functionality of Atlassian products themselves.

excentia goes along with Nabelia in obtaining the CE marking

More and more customers demand the "CE" marking in the products they buy, and software products should not be less. That is why Nabelia, a Valencian consultant for the integration of health services and the development of applications in the field of health, has requested assistance from excentia to accompany them in obtaining the aforementioned CE marking, the process by which it is guaranteed that the product complies with the legislation of the European Union's essential safety requirements.

In this case, as Nabelia develops software that has no direct involvement in the health of people, it has got opened the way of "self-certification" (or Internal Control of Production), corresponding to the level of the CE Marking and it does not require a third competent to carry out the conformity assessment tasks. It have to, though, keep ensuring that it meets the requirements and there is where excentia is providing analysis and consulting services for compliance with the following standards:

UNE-EN-62304 Software life cycle
UNE-EN-ISO 13485 Quality management system for medical devices
UNE-EN-ISO 14971 Application of risk management to medical devices

We started to work with Nabelia in September and it is expected that in June 2016 the process is completed and Nabelia will be 100% ready for the CE mark.

In excentia we are very excited about this project, we have never done anything concerning the CE marking before and we love challenges. We hope to continue preparing and helping companies that need this certification on future occasions ;)

excentia renews its ISO 9001 certification

It could not be otherwise, excentia is a company dedicated to quality, both in the construction of software and process management, so it must lead by example. And that is why, since it gained its ISO 9001 certification in 2014, has been passing all the audits to maintain this certification.

For a company, implementing a Quality Management System like ISO 9001 means the possibility to demonstrate the ability to provide, in a consistent way, products or services that meet both customer and standard requirements. This certification ensures that excentia has a good system of quality management.

Evaluations require a major effort to excentia as it needs to document, file and demonstrate each of the processes carried out in the company, which must also be based on the continuous improvement cycle PDCA (Plan, Do, Check and Act).

Therefore, in excentia we are very pleased with the rating and we will continue working and striving to always comply with the International Standard ISO 9001.

excentia attends the First European Conference of SonarQube

excentia, as exclusive partner in Spain and unique one in Latin America of the Swiss company SonarSource, did not want to miss the first European Conference of SonarQube, the code inspection platform developed by SonarSource. This event took place on the 23rd and 24th September 2015 in Geneva, where there have been user forums, networking spaces and presentations of experiences, best practices and news related to SonarQube.

The conference, besides meeting with the SonarSource team and acquire deep knowledge of the platform, the attendants have been able to discuss in depth the paradigm of the "water leaks", the new plugin of GitHub for SonarQube and collaboration with Microsoft to integrate with the .NET ALM Suite.

In excentia, we have really enjoyed the conference and now we are back and loaded with new features to implement with our clients and facilitate the development of high quality software :)

excentia successfully hold the first "Atlassian Experts" event in Valencia

On Friday, September 18th took place "VLC Atlassian Expert Day" 2015, the first event in Valencia about the Australian company Atlassian, creators of popular tools such as JIRA, Confluence, etc. The idea came from excentia that, as an Atlassian Expert company, they wanted to bring the vision of Atlassian and all its tools to Valencian companies and organizations.

It was held in a unique place for the occasion, with its diaphanous conference rooms and its magnificent outdoor space. The event was a success because of the expert speakers (both in products and in real experiences) and the presence of personnel from Atlassian. In fact, it completely filled the capacity of attendants, so unfortunately several people remained on the waiting list.

The day began with a lecture by our expert Atlassian consultant, Miguel Ángel Pérez, who talked about the various products of the Atlassian suite. We continued with Hugo Mora, head of services management and infrastructures in excentia, who explained the role of excentia as Altassian Expert.

After the coffee break our experts guests presented in a very clear way their experiences with excentia and Atlassian: Juliana Romero (DGTI), Paqui Atiénzar (Marina Salud Hospital in Denia) and Raul Mengod (University in Valencia) whom we thank for their support and participation. And it was the turn of Vladimir Cavalcanti, Atlassian Expert Partners Manager who, with a touch of humor, gave an overview of the Australian company, and how they do it.

Consum, a Valencian supermarket brand, bets on excentia

Consum, a Valencian cooperative of supermarkets, has entrusted again in excentia to improve and optimize the software quality of the the POS terminals (cash registers) of their establishments. Consum had counted on excentia before (November last year) to evaluate the internal quality of another of their applications.

On this occasion, excentia was responsible for the initial analysis of the current state of implementation in relation to the software quality, which allows us to set the base case and the improvement plan to apply. In addition, we will also provide training for technicians in Consum and the continuous code inspection process by delivering periodic reports for one year.

In excentia we are very grateful to Consum for their confidence and we look forward to working with them for a long time in this application and future ones, always improving quality in the field of IT.

excentia helps to ensure quality in a healthcare software called "FLORENCE"

excentia has begun to work on a project about managing healthcare software quality, "FLORENCE", with the Valencian company of new technologies Alfatec Systems. This company of software development and implementation of system solutions, is closely linked to South America, where it distributes and implements "FLORENCE", built on technology ".net" of Microsoft.

Within this context, Alfatec wanted excentia to ensure all the quality software management for one year, including the analysis and continuous inspection of the code as well as good practices of the development and training for the technical team in Alfatec.

excentia in DESIG-HA project, development of information systems in Valencian Finance Department

excentia, as an expert consultant in software quality has begun to provide its services in "DESIG-HA" (Development of Information Systems in the Regional Finance Department), a great project that has come from the effort to unify the development of Information systems of all departments in the region of Valencia and, specifically in this project, the Ministry of Finance of the Valencian Government.

The winner of the contest was the joint venture of Altia, Pentec and Odec which will be in charge of the software development and which can count already (since 22nd May) on excentia’s collaboration to ensure the quality of the delivered software.

Moreover, this is the first time we are in both parts of the project since, for more than a year ago and as we announced in previous news, we are also in the central Office of the Information Technology Department of the Valencian Government to manage deliveries and software deployments. This fact makes possible the cohesion and coherence between the process of delivery and reception of software.

Again, we are very happy and grateful for this new project and looking forward to working together for a long time and thus ensure the welfare in the world of software.

Excentia sponsored VLCSofting 2015, a new event in Valencia

The first edition of VLCSofting, an event of software development, which was held on Thursday 18th June and attended by over 160 participants, was a success. Renowned companies such as Google, Oracle and Microsoft presented their visions and tools regarding Cloud, Mobility and Business Intelligence.

In excentia we wanted to support this initiative and we were one of the sponsors. From our point of view it was a very interesting event but, in our humble opinion, it had a too commercial approach and it would have been even more interesting if there had been more presentations focused on software developers and programming itself. The event had several presentations in the morning and during the afternoon we could enjoy two sets of very interesting sessions.

We would like to congratulate the organisers for this new initiative, as it is a unique and very interesting event in the city of Valencia and we would also like to cheer them to continue with subsequent editions, that we will continue interested in sponsoring for sure.

excentia "yesterday, today, tomorrow" expands business lines

Last Monday, an important meeting in the central office of excentia took place for, among several things, presenting the future lines of the business as a complement to the current, being driven from today.

excentia is going to expand its SQA model (Software Quality Assurance) to include aspects relating to the "external quality" in our services. This measure is implemented in response to the needs expressed by the companies that we provide services to and the fact that we have very skilled staff working with us.

Thus, following our strategy of continuous improvement and our motto "doing things right", we will address most of the software development cycle in the quality process and, to do it, we will work in a very innovative way with functional testing and automation and we will add them to our existing portfolio of services.

The main hospital in Denia (Alicante) joins the Atlassian community of excentia

The “Marina Salud” Hospital in Denia has entrusted in excentia once again as Atlassian Experts and asked for our help in implementing JIRA Service Desk and Confluence licenses (within the Atlassian suite) for 50 users, in order to facilitate content management, incident management, etc.

As it was already mentioned in previous news, within their philosophy of "paperless hospital" which has made them deserving of the first Level 7 issued by the HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) in Spain, the Marina Salud Hospital has recognized the utility and benefit from all the opportunities and facilities that Jira and Confluence offer.
