I think my political decision to vote for Steve Pound second time in a row during recent elections was amongst the best political decisions I took.

I couldn’t believe it this afternoon! Italy is out, France is already out. Well, see my predictions about “same altitude and climate” teams I do know, what I am talking about!

And the next England fixture with Germany is even more interesting. In this case none of the teams has the “altitude” advantage. So we are both Europeans, even neighbours in some sense. This makes the game England vs Germany one one the most interesting in the World Cup 2010.

Can I make a prediction here? Difficult one… But I somehow have a gut feeling that it wouldn’t be over in 90 minutes and might go into penalties. In in this case it’s simply becoming a lottery. Well, this much of an tip.

Well, my favourite bookie – Paddy Power has another special offer in place for this particular game.

Apart from very generous bet a tenner get 20 free, they are also offering a full refund on 1st/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles if the England-Germany game ends 0-0 in 90 minutes. I’ve already placed my bet (I’ll keep it a secret though ) What do you think the outcome would be? Click below and get a 20 quid free bet.

Well… what can I say… Don’t even know if it worth blogging about.

But I have to! Who was playing for England? Impersonators? The names we know and respect in domestic games were still there but players. Are they now using “field doubles”?

You know what, with the level of commercialisation in English football, I am not surprised. May be they were looking for future team-mates and letting them play so they can see the level. This is just not right. I know that Germany has lost but, honest, it doesn’t make me feel any better.

Now a bit of a surprise for my readers, so they understand what I mean by commercialisation. Do you know, that if I want to put in my blog that, for example, Chelsea plays Everton tomorrow at 16:00 (disclaimer! this is fictitious entry!) than I have to PAY thousands of pounds in license fee! Just think! I cant even say on the net that I am going to watch a game tomorrow and mention time because it’s a fixture and to put a fixture you need a license.

May be this is the reason… at least one of them.

OK, we are now facing the mighty Slovenia (2 millions population, something like Ealing, no disrespect, I am really surprised with their achievement), the group leader. I hope it wouldn’t be another bitter post though.

Thank Paddy Power for the refund! I like their “Bore War” option. As they said: “As the England v Algeria match finished 0 – 0, Paddy Power will refund all losing 1st /last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles on the match”

So it has finally started. The World Cup 2010, Mondial, you name it…

The question is now: who is going to hold the World Cup this year? I think many betting shops would give their entire yearly profit for the answer to this simple question.

Do you think I can do a bit of fortune-telling? I thought I would, but the decided to give just hints. So we have mighty Brazil (well, they usually do good), renewed Argentine with renewed Diego, Italy always thirsty for another one, slightly boring (as usual, sorry, nothing personal) Germany. Well, I am not writing down Spain or England yet, just being realistic. And I tell you why. This World up has one serious difference, which makes it similar to the one in Mexico. The similarity is – high altitude. This is the main point in my opinion. Therefore chances for the European winner are getting slimmer. I know how altitude affects people, especially if they need to do hard work. I did work myself on the altitude in excess of 3000m. Well, it is much higher than the World Cup is played, but still, the idea is the same.

So here we go with tip and prediction: look into countries with similar climate and … some mountains.

By the way, here we go with a handy betting table where you can check the latest World Cup odds and place your bet online. Another tip: place you bets now, odds are changing daily. I have already placed my bet on The World Cup winner. And I’ll tell you the outcome in a months time. Good luck with your bets and lets the strongest (or luckiest!) team win the World Cup 2010!

BTW, some on-line bookies are giving free bets on World Cup results. There is a list at Football Results website.

I was rather busy last month and haven’t worked on my blog much. But knowing that the General Election is less than a week away, I decided to do one more exception and write about politics. Many of my readers are asking which party I support. In this post I will try to answer all your questions.

Now first but the most important statement: I don’t support ANY party. The reason is simple; I strongly believe (see my posts on economics) that the politics is simply a subset of the economy. Therefore I would never trust any politician that claims he would be able to do “Global changes…”. I don’t believe that any party or government could protect all people from powerful banks, companies, lenders, etc. If any of these entities would raise their eyebrows and say: “Bad Government! Naughty Government!”, then ANY Government would start wagging it’s tail and looking guilty. Labour, Conservative, Lib Dem – everything is pretty much predefined, full stop.

But I am going to vote, not for a party and not for manifestos. I am going to vote for an individual. And honest, I don’t care to what party he belongs as far as I know him as a man of honour. I am talking about Steve Pound, our Ealing MP. I know Steve Pound for quite some time and he always left an impression of an honest man. Last year I had to ask Steve to help me and he did it, straight away. Without redirecting me to his secretaries, without giving standard replies. He just went and did much more than I’ve asked for. And he gets my respect, fully.

I don’t know my Conservative Candidate, I don’t know my Lib Dem Candidate, they might run campaigns and walk the streets of Ealing – I don’t know them. But I know Steve Pound, I know that I can accidentally bump into Steve on our street and have a nice chat, I know that when I email him I get a reply from him, sometimes within just half an hour. I know that if Steve Pound disagrees with “big politics” he would not keep quiet and would speak out. I know that Steve cares about his constituency. All the above knowledge is enough for me to go and vote for re-electing Steve Pound.

This is what I think about politics: global things are impossible to change – objective laws of development would not allow it. But if we have good people in the Parliament, may be we could have a bit better society and a bit better situation.

Steve Pound didn’t endorse this post, he would, most probably, disagree with some of my statements. Making this post is entirely my own decision because I want to make my contribution for our community in Ealing.

Bottom line: I am going to vote to re-elect Steve Pound, and I want all my readers from Ealing to follow. Let’s have good people in the Parliament, doesn’t matter which party they belong to.

Let’s continue with our tutorial. But before we do it, few words about the purpose of this Affiliate Marketing – Standalone Shops series. First of all, do not expect me to repeat things that could be easily found on the authors websites like in the Associate-O-Matic forum. This would be waste of time both for me and for you. What I want to do here is to show that this type of shop could indeed top the Search Engine Result Pages despite common misconception that it couldn’t. Therefore if you don’t understand any of the technical details, please refer to the documentation and support sections of the Associate-O-Matic website.

First we should select a colour scheme for our shop. Go to the colours section and keep in mind few simple rules. If your shop is made for more mature customer base then chose more warm colours like different shades of orange (like on our tutorial site). For younger buyers choose very dark (black, very dark blue, very dark terracotta) background, silver-grey navigation and white main shop window. If your shop is universal the colour scheme should be white-light blue or white-gray.

Now it is time to fill our new shops with products. Using “sitewide keyword” is not a good idea, Amazon API returns lots of irrelevant results that spoil the overall impression. Therefore you should experiment in the category and use the “-“ sign to eliminate irrelevant products. For example if you want to sell Western Digital hard disks and type it into the keyword section, the resulted selection of products always includes some other products e.g. from Iomega. Therefore check you category one by one until you eliminate all irrelevant results by putting something like [western digital hard drive –iomega –buffalo] until only products that you intend to sell are included in the category.

Do this exercise for all categories. The reason is simple – keyword saturation for relevant results is much higher as well as a shopping experience for your customers is much better.

As you can see we are already learning some basic SEO. Now second and very important tip. I call it singular – plural play. All your categories have an entry called Cat ID, this is also important entry it should not be filled with random staff like cat1, cat2, etc. Use only relevant wording but in following way: if you are selling Hard Drives then put Cat ID as harddrive and Cat Name as Hard Drives. As you can see there is a singular word in ID and plural in the name. This is also important for our overall SEO solution for the standalone shop.

…to be continued

I have sorted most of the problems with shops and have a spare minute to start the actual tutorial. First we are going to make a standalone Amazon shop. The tutorial site and shop itself are located at the feetwarmers (dot) co (dot) uk. To view the tutorial site replace (dot) by . and type it in your browser. I am not giving you direct link here to keep the experiment clean and not create irrelevant links to a live store.

Shop is built using Associate-O-Matic with minimum effort, in fact within just an hour. Associate-O-Matic or AoM is probably one of the best low cost solutions for building Amazon shops. It gives a professional look to your store straight out of the box.

Installation is very simple, but please note, if you want to use this software avoid “easy hosts” and use classic cPanel hosting companies. After uploading the package you should do some initial configuration. We have already spoken about obtaining Amazon associate account and you should take a note of BOTH (!) of your API keys as they are going to be inserted into the AoM.

Point your browser to yourdomain/admin.php and select login details. Keep your login name and password secure. After selection you can now login into your admin area and first of all choose the country you are building your shop for (in our case – UK) and insert all Amazon IDs. After pressing “Save” button your initial configuration is ready and you can start inserting products into your shop.

AoM itself has busy and helpful forum where you can ask all sorts of technical questions and find solutions to problems. In fact, I am not going to discuss actual settings in much detail here but I am going to show how to make your thin affiliate shop to do well in SERPs. If you check google.co.uk for the keyword combination feet warmers, you would see that our tutorial site is number one. This is the main idea of the tutorial – technical questions are being discussed all over the Internet but I want to show you that the standalone affiliate shop could actually be set and optimized in a way that it would bring you organic traffic and therefore customers. Organic traffic is when people type something in the search engine and find your site. This is the best way of obtaining customers as it doesn’t cost you anything but your time and effort. Even without much advanced SEO work it is still possible.

Many Internet gurus are saying that a thin affiliate shop would never bring good organic traffic simply because it would be treated as “duplicate content” and therefore go to the “supplemental pages” section. As you can see it is not true, thin affiliate site that we have selected for our tutorial is not even using built-in SEO options but still tops the SERP.

I am going to reveal some of the secrets of how this could be achieved. Watch this space.

I was planning to answer some more questions but instead decided to make this post about one single question. This question came in various shapes and flavours but the main idea was: my theory supports “conspiracy theories” of different kind. If some of my respondents were happy about it others were definitely not.

Now this is plain WRONG. My theory actually destroys all the conspiracy theories in the world economics.

What is a conspiracy? It is when a person or group of people take actions based on their own will and later attempt to disguise it with something else. In fact my theory shows that all these actions were inevitable because system defines them. In conspiracy theory if you replace “bad” person with “good” person then the action changes from “bad” to “good”. In fact my theory says that action does not depend on a person, and changing main actors would simply make the action to appear either slightly sooner or slightly later.

Before we were talking about “real estate” and house prices as driving force. And I said that it is a great oversimplification. The driving force of any economy where the real wealth comes from is resources and manufacturing. Imagine this, if I am the only country in the world that produces oil, then I can simply stop selling it to the country with lots of money, financial institutions and “secondary wealth”. Will the secondary wealth be worth anything? No. Could they prevent me (without using military force) from putting any price on my resources? No. As you see secondary wealth could be destroyed in no time. And this is what all nodes possessing secondary wealth are very much aware of. Therefore these nodes are not conspiring but simply surviving. And it doesn’t depend on who is in charge of the nodes economically or politically.

The supernodes need backing of the secondary wealth by primary wealth. Therefore supernodes have to create situation when all income from primary wealth is distributed towards secondary wealth.

This is where supernodes create situation when using income from primary wealth inside the wealth-producing nodes is not safe. This is how wars, conflicts and instabilities are created. Anyone can look on the map, mark the conflicts and see what real wealth producers are neighbouring the conflict area. Now circle all main secondary wealth countries and see if there is any conflict nearby.

Current supernodes have no other choice, otherwise their supernode status is in jeopardy. And because supernodes are clustered (finance-governments) if one part goes down then the rest goes down.

This is why the economy of primary wealth should be dependant on the secondary wealth. This is one of the main reasons of instability as in fact it should be other way round.

Until financial institutions pretend to be the basis of world economy and do everything to stay this way – situation is turned upside down. But node preservation makes them to do it. Later we will discuss what could be done to change the situation.

… to be continued.

Since I’ve started series o articles on the fractal-lattice-nodes theory of Economics, I’ve received literally hundreds of emails. Some of them with praise some… hmmm … opposite, others with questions. I can not physically answer all of your questions but before continuing with articles I feel obliged to give at least some answers, as they also might help my other readers to understand more serious aspects of the theory.

I am not going to give names or emails and might rephrase some of the questions, but I believe the author would recognise his / her question.

Q. Are you an economist?
A. No, I am not. I have a degree in Theoretical Physics and also do strategic eMarketing.

Q. I work for <…> Bank for many years and I don’t think that you understand banking.
A. The main point is, banking can have many aspects and details but I am not going to get into all of them. The idea behind the theory is simple. There are limited resources (estates, equity, etc.) in the world. To keep system stable their real value and “banking value” should at least match. It is something similar to the energy conservation law. If the law is broken – system becomes unstable. I do understand how the law works, and I can put it mathematically by implying new concepts – connections. Based on this concept fractals and lattice model explains all processes in the economy. If you want me to explain the particular specific aspect of financial market based on the theory – let me know. But I simply can’t put each and every detail into the picture.

Q. So what do you think should be done?
A. I’ve already spoke about it but more detailed explanation is planned for future articles.

Q. You are talking about mathematical modelling but I can’t see any math…
A. Well, not all my readers would understand or be interested in mathematical details. I am going to give some calculations later. At the same time I am not planning to reveal the entire model. First of all many bits and pieces from my articles are already been “stolen” without giving any credit. Second, some of my concepts especially way of calculating precise “value” of the connection are not open part of the theory. But some math is on its way.

Q. Do you have any prove that theory works?
A. I’ve already explained lots of things based on the theory, haven’t I? Even made some predictions. More to come.

Q. Do you think economists would accept what you are writing here?
A. No (at least not openly).

Q. Do you think that banks might follow your advice?
A. See above

Q. Why you are writing all this?A. Good question. Because I want people to think about how the system works not about what elements of the system say or do.

Q. Could the situation be improved and further crashes avoided?
A. Yes. But it doesn’t mean that it would.

Q. I don’t understand what you mean by connections. How can they affect economy?
A. OK, think of … Google. What they have is connections (people “connecting” to them on a daily basis). Now see what Google is worth these days. Well, this is a very simplified and not mathematically correct explanation.

…to be continued.
