I guess I can rant and rave on here... I am friggin upset with the g.d. IRS, I have been waiting on my tax returns for TWO weeks now. NOBODY at the IRS knows what the hell they're talking about...What I do know though is that since ya'll beloved President Obama has taken office people's tax returns have been delayed. Well thank GOD none of my bills are behind and this isn't what I depend on each year to catch up, but it is what I depend on each year to reward myself for NOT HAVING to catch up. For every damn outfit I put away, hairstyle I settled on and trip I had to say "no" to. More importantly I haven't seen my family in a month and this money was supposed to be here so I could finally play with my daughter (yeah I'm laying it on thick). So F U to the darn IRS who is saying give them another possible 6-8 weeks before I continue on with life. Oh...and God Bless America.

Independent or Bitter?

February the month of lovers and African American pride started off with a very old topic: Angry Black Women. A small south Georgia radio station asked the question, "Are we strong independent black women that men need to step up to be with or are we just bitter women driving men away?". I think that's a good question. I believe a thicker line needs to be drawn between independent and bitter.
The truth is some women are not independent by choice. Of course, we would still get our degrees and work in our field, but we wouldn't slave at jobs or put dreams on hold if some of these men (no matter the race) weren't so DEPENDENT. Speaking from a married point of view as much as I would like to quit my job and work on a master's degree and publishing my overdue book my family needs my income.
We aren't angry and trying to push men away just get backed in a corner sometimes and it causes us to lash out. Sometimes their flaws are such a big elephant in the room its hard not to point them out. Men should be providers and our "go tos" when we get in a bind not our equally independent mothers. Maybe this year men of our race will step up and HELP us out, not necessarily take on everything.
Talks of children who don't know their fathers in our race, unwed parents, unemployed (not laid off) men living with their employed girlfriend/babymama/wife/mama, incarcerated men will decrease this year. So, once again, many of us aren't bitter we just need your help... in the meantime we will continue to grit our teeth and put our glasses up everytime an independent anthem comes on...

Unless you've been hiding under a rock, I'm sure you've heard the story about Carlina White... A young black girl who was kidnapped from a hospital when she was 19 days old. It is alleged that a woman dressed as a nurse walked in the nursery, took young Carlina and raised her as her own. The lady has a history of fraud and had also lost her own child a couple of days prior to the alleged kidnapping. Currently this is under investigation...of course the FBI will have to step in and press charges if any because there is a state statue of limitation for kidnapping.

You all may question me for saying this, but do you think it may be possible that this was arranged? Carlina's mom was only 16 when she had her and it was all too simple. I see no emotion from her parents now that she is back. My daughter is visiting her grandparents right now and I watch Nick Jr every night missing her and even when she was only days old I had an attachment to her. I could just be incorrectly judging you never know...

Finally! What millions of people have been waiting on premiered last night. "The Game", fomerly CW's hit show is now BET's *hit* show. The show started off with more drama than I expected with an original cast (plus Megan Good who plays a whore---well someone's wife but a whore nevertheless). The only difference that I saw was that the scenes are cut off more like a soap opera rather than a sitcom with CW. The stars have new makeovers for the men I love and the women they should've stuck with what worked for them originally... Kellie Pitts sported a new razor cut 'do which makes her look butch, Melanie had on what looked to me like an awful lace wig or an overdyed sew in...and Tasha Mack...looked like the same ole' Tasha Mack. I'm not going to tell you what happened in the episode, just know it was drama filled and worth watching...let's build up our station...

Ugh , winter is here and although I'm based in Miami, Florida (44 DEGREES!!!) I'm feeling every bit of it. With all the rushing around for boots, gloves and other body protectants, we sometimes forget about the glory on top of our heads. OUR HAIR!

I know we think that "ooo it's cooler, I won't sweat out my style or get oily" but our hair loves moisture. Especially in type 3C-4C hair which is by nature the driest hair type. During cool season your kinks can dry out and be more susceptible to breakage.

I've put together a few tips that can help you lock in moisture and protect your hair for the next couple months:

1. Keep it JUICY
Load your hair up with olive (shine and nourishes) and coconut (only oil to penetrate hair shaft and moisturize within), a cream based moisturizer, and Shea butter to feed your hair everything it needs.

2. Protective Styles
Try keeping your hair in two strand twists or braids to avoid too much contact. Try running some oils through it to keep them shiny.

3. Take the Time
Every night you should be able to find some "you" time and tend to yourself. Twist up your kinks every night and it'll keep your hair pattern intact while minimizing breakage. Don't forget the satin cap or pillow case!

Disclaimer: I have natural hair so nine out of ten I'll be speaking from the view. If you have any tips for relaxed or dreadlocked hair let us know!!!

You know what I find difficult about being single? SEX! it could ruin a perfectly good friendship, or even ruin the beginning to a "could have been" awesome relationship. How? well duh it's sex! I'm going to be as real as I can possibly be about this one. Men, I don't care how many times a woman says she can handle a sexual relationship with no ties, she is LIEing to you! I can't tell you how many stories I have heard about men having sexual relationships with women and for some reason all of the women tend to be "crazy". SMH sir, lets be real if you try something over and over again and get the same response it's not just the women that are slipping up. First off let me say this, your body is priceless ladies AND gentlemen so really you shouldn't be throwing it around like a plastic bag in the wind. But if you do find yourself in a situation where you decide to have a sexual relationship "without ties" here are some rules to live by:

1.) Just cause you're F****ING does not mean you are going to end up together
For some reason, women especially, completely ignore men when they say they DON'T want a relationship, and get into a sexual relationship in hopes that it will turn into a real one. They feel that if the pussy or the head is good enough a man will stay even if he already told you he is not looking for a relationship. Women, please stop doing this to yourself, listen to the man when he says that is not what he wants in the first place! There is someone out there that wants what you want Don't Settle!

2.) Women you will catch feelings
Ladies DO NOT think that you are going to be getting in bed with a man over and over again and not catch any feelings, especially when you see him with another woman, or he doesn't answer when you call, or think to invite you to his job's Christmas party; you are NOT is woman. You are the cut buddy nothing more nothing less. (refer to rule #1 if still confused)

3.) You are probably not the only one
Please don't be the dummy that thinks that you are the only person that they are sleeping with...."I've never done this before" = "If you don't take the bait the next dummy will"

4.) Men stop all the BS and sweet talk
Aye, lets be real women don't go "crazy" for no reason! you're always in our ear with the "I'm just not ready for a relationship, but I know I see myself with you in the future" or "my situation is real crazy right now, I don't want to get you mixed up in it" hmm? I wonder how mixed up she'd be if you knocked her up!? Oh and here is my all time favorite "You wifey, and I'm just not ready for that commitment yet" lol smh...just be real!! if all you wanna do is mess around say that!

5.) There is no such thing as "No Ties"
To be quite frank about the shit, there is no way to have a sexual relationship with someone without any kind of stability and expect not to be disappointed. Expect more from each other people! It really is worth the wait. And please stop using "being grown" as an excuse , HIV doesn't care how old you are and neither does Gonorrhea, HPV, or herpes. And if you can't see yourself dealing with someone for the rest of your life then why risk being obligated to by having their child. I know now a days it seems crazy to expect someone to wait until you at least feel that there is a chance that a person maybe your husband/wife, but it shouldn't be, a few moments of ecstasy aren't worth the rest of your life. There are soooooo many more things that make a relationship worth having.

A majority of the production is handled by Vagabonds member E.R., and will be released on 01/01/2010 for free digital download on their website. Morning all... Remember the blog that I wrote on Reggie Bush a couple of months ago? I just had a quick question... Do you all think that the Heisman board just might not award Cam Newton with the Heisman in fears that the allegations that were brought against him may come back up later down the road? I think its possible that this man may not win (Even though I can't think of any one else who should) becuase of the aforementioned events circling the Heisman and players' eligibilty. That's something to ponder this morning...

Well I said I wouldn't post anymore episode reviews on Football Wives until they gave me something to talk about. Of course there are still catfights, but as I was hoping I got some insight on the real lives (I guess) of the wives. There are two wives that have husbands that are actually in the NFL and doing pretty well for themselves, there are wives whose husbands are still trying to make it in the sport they love (like me) and then there are wives whose husbands made it...and retired or was forced to quit.
It made me think...what happens when the money stops coming in? How can I hold on to every dime to make sure that I am never again sitting at a desk at a company I don't own working for pennies? How do you deal with a man when their dreams might be coming to an end?
It's hard ya'll....
