After the industrial revolution we have making our lives more and more busy and for the small business owner this is a very serious problem. TJ McCue makes 4 great points. First prioritize your tasks. Then single task everything you do. Apparently when you do one thing at a time, you can preform more efficiently. Sorry all you ADHD people McCue just destroyed your arguments. “Next to finally” (Quoting GWB) keep that email empty… ROTFL???? Yeah I thought the same thing, but it does help reduce stress. Finally limit your media intake. Take your grandpa’s old WWII rifle and lay to waste upon that telly. Actually that will be my fifth point. When ever possible burn and destroy anything you do not need. Get all primal on your useless stuff. That will give you something to look forward to do and will reduce stress significantly.

Everyone has had horrible bosses. I myself have a laundry list of horror stories to list off. From all of the bad stories of terrifying bosses we have to ask ourselves ‘what is a good boss?’ In this article Hannah Howard talks about how to be the ‘good boss’.

First she states that we must be crystal clear when we communicate. That means learning your audience and how they respond to your speaking style. Then she states that you should empathize with your workers. Note the difference between sympathizing and empathizing. People want to feel that their needs are being understood, so that means it is your job to understand them. Finally she states that you need to focus on solutions. Bosses who only see problems stay in middle management for a reason. Don’t be that guy!

Gordon Ramsay has a magnificent article on the personal business development. He states that before you fix your business you have to fix yourself. Very sound advice. I feel like most of the problems that comes to running a business starts with the business owner himself. In business everything that is personal gets a very bright light spotted right on every insecurity and failure. I would love to see your thoughts on this article.

Steve Jobs was undoubtedly a successful man, and we have a lot to learn about how we as business people can preform better. Think about how these 7 points apply to you and to your workers.

1. Be persistent.

2. Keep on keeping on.

3. Seek to change lives.

4. Become ubiquitous.

5. Build frenzy.

6. Create a need.

7. Be true to yourself.

Pretty much to summarize the points, learn what you believe in. Work hard for that and do not stop! The whole point of a business is to fulfill a need. What need are you fulfilling? What about your employees? The best employee is one who is working towards a goal, even if that goal is eventually to leave your company. Help those to help themselves and your business will grow!

1. Being disorganized.

2. Micromanaging.

3. BOTH ZOMG!!!

There is nothing worse for you to do than to micromanage your business. You need to hire someone to do that for you. Its wasting your time to grow your business.

Well the only other thing that could be worse is mining through your mail trying to find the latest bank statement so you can “balance” your budget.

After reading this article I was very much encouraged. I know this has little to do with actually building a business, but if you do not actively engage in vision building and finding encouraging sources, the likely hood of your personal business success is very slim. Stay positive with the truth, and finding problems is always a good thing. If you find a problem then you can find a solution. Anyways here is an except, please read the whole article:

According to Carlos Seiglie, Ph.D., Professor of Economics at Rutgers University, a significant portion of the increase in these orders is due to foreign buyers. “As the U.S. dollar maintains a relatively low value compared to other currencies, demand for U.S. manufactured goods increases which boosts durable goods orders and leads to more domestic manufacturing jobs” he indicated. Within the durable goods category, several subcategories stand out in terms of new orders. Industrial machinery orders increased by nearly 2 percent and information technology orders increased by a whopping 6 percent.
