The Image Mill recognized by the CSST

On October 26 2011 was held the regional finale for the Prix innovation en santé et sécurité du travail 2011. These CSST awards recognize innovation, but also individuals who spend time and energy to improve safety in their work environment. The Image Mill was honored in the “Large companies” category.

The national gala will be held on April 24 2012 at the Québec City Convention Centre.

MIT recognizes Robert Lepage

Robert Lepage is the recipient of the 2012 Eugene McDermott Award in the Arts at MIT. The award, one of the most generous cultural honors in the U.S., is bestowed upon individuals whose artistic trajectory and body of work indicate that they will achieve the highest distinction in their fields.
The award reflects MIT’s commitment to risk-taking, problem solving, and the idea of connecting creative minds across disciplines.
The official announcement will be made at the Council’s 39th annual meeting at MIT on October 27 and the award ceremony will be held in April 2012.

From October 19 to 23, the Bunge grain silos will glow pink

To show support for women and their families affected by breast cancer and increase popular awareness about the battle against this disease, permanent lighting installations Aurora Borealis will cast a pink glow on the Bunge grain silos from October 19 to 23 at the occasion of the Québec ville en rose event.

On stage in October and November

The Far Side of the Moon will take the stage at the Onassis Cultural Center in Athens from October 12 to October 16. Then, the New York Metropolitan Opera will present Siegfried, Wagner’s part three of the Ring cycle. The opera will premiere on October 27 and two more sold out performances will be given in November. Finally, Sylvie Guillem, Russell Maliphant and Robert Lepage will perform Eonnagata in Tokyo from November 17 to November 20.

The Prix des abonnés du Trident awarded to Yves Jacques

On Tuesday September 20, the Prix des abonnés du Théâtre du Trident was awarded to Yves Jacques for his moving performance in The Far Side of the Moon. In coproduction with Ex Machina, Robert Lepage’s The Far Side of the Moon, was presented eleven years after its creation at the Théâtre du Trident from January 11 to February 5, 2011, with extras on February 8, 9 and 10. Highlight of the Trident’s 40th season, the play won the audience over and Yves Jacques’ flawless performance was critically acclaimed. Greece is next for the play as it will be presented from October 12 to 16 at Athens’ Onassis Cultural Center.

Ex Machina, in collaboration with Alto, publishes a limited edition souvenir book to mark the Quebec representations of The Nightingale and Other Short Fables, directed by Robert Lepage. This souvenir book will be available for purchase at the August 2, 3, 5 and 6 performances during the first Festival d’opéra de Québec, held at the Grand Théâtre. Robert Lepage’s direction of The Nightingale and Other Short Fables will be shown for the first time in Quebec. This souvenir edition will also be available on Ex Machina’s website as well as in bookstores.

The Nightingale and Other Short Fables wins the Claude Rostand Award

The Claude Rostand prize was awarded to The Nightingale and Other Short Fables on June 20, 2011 by the Syndicat de la critique in France. This prize is awarded to the best lyrical production created outside Paris. Quebec will get the chance to discover this production on August 2, 3, 5 and 6, 2011 as it is part of the Festival d’opéra de Québec’s first edition. Tickets are on sale on Billetech.
