What with their obvious chemical imbalance, we’ve decided it best to present this meeting of the mentally deficient minds in two easy-to-digest installments. After all, too much of a good thing can cause complications in the elderly, those with heart conditions, women who are nursing, pregnant or who may become pregnant and those who simply have Attention Defecit Disorder or good taste.

PART 1 -
http://www.exoticrecordings.com/podcast/mp3/jare_082008.mp3

So grab that big wooden spoon and dig in to some juicy tracks, some random references and the Proust Questionnaire, as made famous by the illustrious and horrifically creepy James Lipton.

Eddie Pepitone has made his mark in the mainstream comedy spotlight by being raunchy, riotous and straight to the point. While Eddie seems to speak for Rage-Aholics everywhere through his standup and comedy shorts, his unfiltered and brutally critical philosophy of society are what launched Eddie into television, film, as well as the standup comedy circuit and an online “clip culture” that everyone is buzzing about.

Eddie recently finished taping for the Flight of the Conchords, the newest HBO series about a struggling New Zealand folk parody group trying to make it in the U.S. While the show takes a hysterically dry and awkward approach similar to British humor from across the pond, Eddie’s out of control and uncensored persona takes a new angle in his June 23rd appearance. Eddie molds to the show’s vibe by playing the role of the boss for Bret and Jermaine, the two main protagonists of Flight of the Conchords.

“I had a lot of fun taping for Flight of the Conchords,” Eddie says. “It’s very smart and funny. I’m always playing an over-the-top crazy guy and it was great for me to take it down a notch or two.”

For more information on Flight of the Conchords, as well as to see video links check out the show’s official site:

www.hbo.com/conchords

Eddie also just finished taping for superdeluxe.com, a site containing all sorts of comedic video links to some of the most prolific, cutting-edge as well as upcoming comedic artists in the industry. Eddie’s three videos are titled, “The Heckler,” “Ransom,” and “The Rapper.”

“Superdeluxe is great because they let me do whatever I want,” Eddie says. “I have to be disciplined to get it done but it’s also fun because I get to do all kinds of stupid stuff and turn it into videos.”

The “Heckler” features Eddie’s struggle with a cynic among the audience, but turns the tables on this one by becoming the annoying snarl from the crowd himself. In “The Heckler” Eddie takes it to the streets of Los Angeles, or “the narcissistic city” as Eddie says in the comedy short while also calling out buildings and other inanimate objects.

“The Rapper” takes Eddie’s classic standup “The Insecure and Depressed,” one step further by getting blinged out and creating this hysterical rap video through the perspective of an out of shape and painfully not in vogue older man. Try to imagine a cracked out Chris Crinkle in disguise as Public Enemy.

“Ransom” takes the cake by showcasing Eddie’s comedic roots. This comedy short mimics a ransom message to the kidnapper of Eddie’s son and makes crude, raunchy and threatening, yet side-splitting remarks to the camera. Stay tuned for these videos on Superdeluxe.com this month.

Eddie also just appeared in the Cinevegas Film Festival in Las Vegas where he appeared in the film The Living Wake. Eddie received critical acclaim in the film where he was said to be a standout in the festival.

Well, we were all in Sicily last week for the Taormina Film Festival. The filmonistas were there for business. We were there for our honeymoon. That’s right, your happy couple at the helm of the Exotic Recordings family, celebrated their recent nuptials with a whirlwind trip to Sicily. This “honeymoon” is now officially a tax write-off since we attended festival screenings and asked Matt Dillon intelligent questions during his “master class” in directing.

Mr. Dillon gave really frank and insightful commentary on the realities of the film business. Despite his iconic status as an actor, he has experienced enough setbacks that he appears humble and realistic, yet still confident. Regardless of his success as an actor, he still had to work over seven years to get his independent film “City of Ghosts” completed and distributed.
We also attended the deliciously bad yet totally entertaining world premiere of “Transformers”. We happily lapped up extra portions of gratuitous bare female abdomen and predictable one-liners for the privilege of seeing a world premiere action movie in an ancient Greek amphitheatre.

The premiere of Michael Bay’s new creation was held at Taormina’s Teatro Antico, a 5,000 sf former coliseum that is now a modern movie theater with a screen the size of a city block. We enjoyed the custom laser light show introduction on sandstone seats with 5,000 locals, tourists, students, industry wanna-bes, industry elites, and hoochies working for various corporate sponsors. I wore a dress and tried to look important.

This premiere in this setting was the perfect interaction between past and future. The film, a monster futuristic creation representing the most evil meeting of corporate greed, creativity, cheap thrills, and ego, projected in the crumbling remains of the greatest civilization of all time. We both had the chills.

“Transformers” was the polar opposite of the final film presentation we attended - a preview screening of James Franco’s directorial debut “Good Time Max”. Though clearly low-budget, it was watchable, engaging and clever. James Franco was in attendance to briefly introduce the film, which he did shyly and without fanfare. I don’t feel I quite get him yet, but he’s clearly talented and ambitious.
For all you film buffs looking for the ultimate film festival experience, we highly recommend the Taormina Film Festival - http://www.taorminafilmfest.it - which is part of a larger season-long event called Taormina Arte - http://www.taoarte.tv.

This informational update was brought to you by Mr. and Mrs. Saunders.

Muddy power chords and tortured vocals glued together with a driving, to-the point rhythm section defines Fairmont. While the Jersey natives explore a gritty sound with dirt under its finger tips and guitar strings, its soaring melodies and straightforward song structures rise out of the sludge to produce a cohesive power trio. Wait and Hope moves across the musical spectrum down a road of altering moods and musical composition. Catchy, alternative rock ballads including “Delilah” search for independence and reconcile while changing gears on melodic- blues induced tracks of mystery and longing such as “Andy Goldfish Dreams of the Ocean.” Fairmont feeds off naked, unpolished and wandering guitar licks and spiraling lyrics that reach for absolution. Overall, Fairmont succeeds at creating a grungy and thick alternative rock album that bleeds it all.

Eddie Pepitone is more prolific on the internet than we thought. He has been blowing up on Comedy Central’s online spot called Mother Load with his disturbing, yet strangely rational comedic short titled “It’s Your Fault, “ a guide to solving our world’s social and economic calamities. However, Eddie takes the bluntly hysterical and off-kilter road to tackling pollution and stress for example through the eyes of a lethargic and poorly aging older gentleman with no family but “a great collection of hats.” Nevertheless, Eddie’s “It’s Your Fault” provides a witty sentiment to our nation’s and Eddie’s own decline.
