Muscat: People who want to watch the National Day fireworks in Oman can do so in three locations.

Two of these locations – Al Seeb near Al Khoudh Dam, and near the Amerat Dam – are in Muscat, while a third will be held at Sahel Ittin in Salalah, the capital of the Dhofar Governorate. The fireworks will begin at 8pm on 18 November.

To honour what is one of the most important days in Oman’s history, National Day will be marked by a series of fireworks shows around the country.

An official from the Supreme Committee for National Day Celebrations said, “The streets have been decorated since Friday, 15 November 2019 in Muscat Governorate, from Azaiba intersection to Sidab. This year, the lighting installations took the shapes of musical instruments and notes, as well as depictions of flowers.

“We have also undertaken the installation of the Sultanate’s flags from Bait Al Al Barakah roundabout to Al Bustan Palace roundabout. All municipalities of the Sultanate of Oman have installed flags and decorations on the streets and buildings,” he added.

Muscat: Holiday on occasion of National Day has been announced for both the public and private sectors.

According to authorities, holiday has been declared from Wednesday, November 27 to Thursday, November 28.

Work will resume on Sunday, December 1st.

The decision also allowed employers and employees to agree on work arrangements to compensate for this holiday if the necessity arises.

Muscat: The process to legally hire foreign employees became easier in Oman in 2019 compared to 2018, according to the Global Competitiveness Report released by the World Economic Forum.

According to the report, Oman was given a score of 4.0 out of 7 in “Ease of Hiring Foreign Labour”, giving the Sultanate an overall score of 49.9 and placing Oman in the 83 position in countries on the list in terms of hiring foreign workers.

Oman got score of 3.9 in 2018 in the same report, and a cumulative score of 47.9, wherein it was placed 90th worldwide.

Among all the countries listed in the world, Albania has highlighted as the nation where it was the easiest to hire foreign labour.

Muscat: Fuel prices in Oman have increased for the month of October, following a reduction in September.

The prices were announced on Monday.

The per litre prices have been fixed at 217 baisa for M95, an increase from 211 baisa last month, and 207 baisa for M91, compared to 201 baisa last month.

Meanwhile, diesel will be priced at 245 baisa per litre compared to 241 in September.

Muscat: The prices of M91, M95 and diesel for the month of September have decreased, Shell Oman said in a statement.

According to Shell Oman, M91 will now be priced at 201 baisas per litre, a decrease from 210 baisas per litre last month.

The price of M95 has decreased from 220 baisas per litre in August to 211 baisas per litre in September, 2019.

Meanwhile, diesel will be priced at 241 baisas per litre, a decrease from 250 baisas last month.

Muscat: Sunday, 1 September will the first day of the Hijri new year, 1441AH, after successful moon sighting on Saturday.

According to the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs’ Department of Astronomical Affairs, special committees from the ministry were able to see the new moon less than an hour after sunset, confirming that the new year has come.

The day will be a public holiday for government employees at ministries, public authorities, and other agencies as well as companies in the private sector as per the labour law.

Muscat: Eid Al Adha holidays have been announced and will last for five days starting Sunday to Thursday for the private sector and till next Sunday for the public sector.

“Based on the high orders of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, it has been decided that the Eid Al Adha holiday for 1440H for employees of ministries, public bodies, and other units of the administrative apparatus of the State will start from Sunday, August 11 and end on Thursday, 15 August,” a statement said.

“The official working hours will resume on Sunday, 18 August.” the statement added.

Eid Al Adha holiday for employees of private sector companies, institutions and establishments will be from Sunday, August 11th till Thursday 15th August.

Muscat: The price of M91, M95, and diesel has been increased, Shell Oman has said in a statement.

The price of M95 has increased from 205 baisas per litre to 215 baisas per litre in August.

Meanwhile, diesel will be priced at 250 baisas per litre, an increase from 245 baisas last month.

Muscat: The official holiday in Oman on the occasion of Isra’a Wal Miraj will be April 3 (Wednesday) and April 4 (Thursday) for the employees of the ministries, public sector institutions and other units of the state administrative apparatus and employees of private companies and enterprises.

This means Oman residents will get a Four-day holiday, including the weekly off on Friday & Saturday.

MUSCAT: “On the occasion of the blessed Eid al Adha, and as per the Royal orders of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, the blessed Eid al Adha holidays for employees working in the ministries, public authorities and other departments of the state administrative apparatus will be from Sunday, 8th Dhul Hijjah 1439 AH, corresponding to August 19 till Thursday, 12th Dhul Hijjah 1439 AH, corresponding to August 23. Work will resume on Sunday, 15th Dhul Hijjah 1439 AH, corresponding to August 26,” according to a decision issued on Monday by Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of the Civil Service Council.

The minister extended his greetings to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos on this blessed occasion, praying to Allah the Almighty to protect His Majesty, grant him good health, happiness and long life, and for the return of this and similar occasions on His Majesty for many years to come and the Omani people and our dear country further progress and prosperity under His Majesty’s wise leadership.

Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri, Minister of Manpower, issued a ministerial decision stating that Eid al Adha holidays for private sector companies and establishments will be from Sunday (August 19) till Thursday (August 23). The decision allows employers and employees to agree on work arrangements to compensate this holiday, if necessity arises.
Employees whose weekly-off coincides with the holiday of the aforesaid occasion must be compensated. All employees in the private sector extended their greetings to His Majesty the Sultan on this blessed occasion, praying to the Almighty Allah to protect His Majesty, grant him good health, happiness and long life, and for the return of this and similar occasions on His Majesty, the Omani people and all Muslims with welfare and blessings. — ONA
