<p>Just some of the highlights this week include the Rushford Days in downtown Rushford, the 70th Annual Aquatennial celebration in Minneapolis, Riverboat Heritage Days in downtown Aitkin, and the annual Muskie Days celebration in Nevis. </p>
<h3>Southern Minnesota</h3>
<p><strong>Rushford Days </strong>will be held throughout the city of Rushford, Monday, July 13 through Sunday, July 19. Highlights will include a outdoor dance bands, theater performances, antique tractor show &#038; rides, a grand parade, children&#8217;s events, a fly-in with plane rides, pony rides, classic car and semi show, pie &#038; ice cream social, and more! <p>The Waseca County Fairgrounds in Waseca will be the site of the <strong>130th Waseca County Free Fair</strong>, Wednesday, July 15 through Sunday, July 19. Featured will be a new, larger carnival with midway rides and games, a Minn-E-Rods show, a compact car race, demolition derby, Enduro Auto Race, beer gardens, bands, and more! <p>The <strong>Wilder Pageant </strong>will be held at a hillside ampitheater in Walnut Grove, Friday and Saturday, July 17 &#038; 18, with an outdoor drama based on life of author Laura Ingalls Wilder in Walnut Grove in the 1870&#8217;s. The Wilder Pageant will be repeated July 24 &#038; 25, and the Wilder Museum will be open with extended hours each day of the pageant. <p>The Brown County Fairgrounds in New Ulm will be the site of a <strong>Bavarian Blast</strong>, Friday through Sunday, July 17-19, to celebrate New Ulm&#8217;s strong German heritage. Featured will be various musical acts, including bands from Germany, as well as rock and roll, country and other musical style groups. <p>The <strong>Welcome Summer Festival </strong>will be held in the town of Welcome, located near the city of Fairmont, Saturday and Sunday, July 18 &#038; 19. Highlights include the annual Firemen’s Relief Association Chicken Feed, a street dance, citywide garage sales, bake sales, a pie and ice cream social, historical displays, a flea market, parade, a medallion hunt, and a community worship service. <h3>Northern Minnesota</h3>

<p>Just some of the highlights this week include the 9th Annual Street Faire at the Lakes in Detroit Lakes, the Minnesota Homegrown Kickoff in Richmond, the Flint Hills International Children&#8217;s Festival in St. Paul, and the annual Dam Days Celebration in Morristown.</p>
<h3>Northern Minnesota</h3>
<p><strong>Historic Fishing with Kids </strong>will be offered at the North West Company Fur Post in Pine City on Saturday, May 30. Come sit on the banks of the Snake River, learn about historic fishing methods, and use a cane pole and cork bobber. Other methods used during the era will be discussed as well. <p>Downtown Detroit Lakes will be the site of the <strong>9th Annual Street Faire at the Lakes</strong>, Saturday and Sunday, May 30 &#038; 31. This juried arts and craft show will feature invited artisans from across the country, with over 120 vendors, great food and live entertainment. <p>The annual <strong>Boreal Birding &#038; Northern Landscapes Festival </strong>will be held throughout Grand Marais and the surrounding area, Thursday through Sunday, June 4-7. Come discover the birds, wildflowers and geology of the area through a series of inter-related, field-focused workshops and courses. Each course offers participants its own unique mixture of field trips, classroom discussions and afternoon workshops, complemented by evening presentations and programs. <p>The <strong>18th Annual Willie Walleye Day </strong>will be held Saturday, June 6, in the city of Baudette, with a full day of crafts, games, sales, vendors, a 5K run, a parade, live entertainment, food booths, and a street dance. <h3>Central Minnesota</h3>
<p>The <strong>Minnesota Homegrown Kickoff </strong>will be held Friday through Sunday, May 29-31, at El Rancho Manana near the city of Richmond. This three day outdoor music and camping festival features stage shows by more twenty-four regional bluegrass, old-time, and related bands. In addition, enjoy workshops, dances, food vendors, and jam sessions. The campground also offers horseback riding, boat rental, fishing, and a swimming beach. <p>Ernies on Gull Lake, located north of Brainerd, will hold the <strong>Minnesota Fishing Challenge </strong>on Saturday, May 30 to raise funds for Teen Challenge. Teams will bring their fish to the weigh-in stage, where there will be free stage shows and weigh-in ceremonies. Trophies will be awarded for various categories, and there will be a wide array of prizes given away. In addition, Fishing for Life youth activities and games will be offered, and the Centershot Archery range will be open to youngsters. <p>Numerous programs and events will be offered at Sibley State Park, located just north of Willmar at the city of New London, on Saturday and Sunday, May 30 &#038; 31. And on Sunday, programs will include the <strong>Bluebird Conservation Story</strong>, and <strong>Woodland Wildflowers</strong>. <p><strong>Take A Kid Fishing Day </strong>events and a <strong>Bike Safety Rodeo </strong>will be offered at the Glenwood City Park on Saturday, June 6, with information and activities to teach your kids how to fish and learn water safety that could save their lives. In addition, kids will learn about bicycle safety and hand signals. Admission is free and prizes will be distributed to each participating child! <h3>Twin Cities Greater Metropolitan vicinity</h3>
<p>The Wildlife Science Center in Forest Lake will offer a <strong>Canine Carnival </strong>on Saturday, May 30, in a tribute to dogs both wild and domestic. Come enjoy presentations by the science center staff on the resident wolves, as well as wolf-dog hybrids, foxes, and visiting canine groups! Bring your pet along for the fun! <p>The <strong>Flint Hills International Children&#8217;s Festival </strong>will take place at the Ordway Center in St. Paul, Saturday and Sunday, May 30 &#038; 31. <p>Downtown Afton will be the site of the <strong>16th Annual Afton May Fair</strong>, Saturday and Sunday, May 30 &#038; 31, with a variety of artists showcasing glasswork, jewelry, pottery, furniture, fine paintings, and photography. In addition, enjoy children&#8217;s activities, live music, a special appearance by meteorologist and local celebrity Sven Sundgaard, an old-fashioned pie baking contest, Vasa Swedish folk dancers, great food, and specialty vendors. <p>A <strong>Classic Car Show </strong>will be offered Friday, June 5 in downtown North St. Paul. This free family event features over 800 classic cars, as well as great food and live music. Cars range from early 1900&#8217;s vintage Model T&#8217;s to mid-1970&#8217;s customs, classics, and restorations. This event will be repeated each Friday through September 18.
