Consultant plastic surgeon and British Association of Aesthetic plastic surgeons, Nilesh Sojitra said "This is a clear case of a patient who should not have had surgery performed on her. Someone making this kind of request may have body dysmorphia disorder, or not have thought through the long term consequences of such a surgery - she will now be scarred for life - and may have been benefited from psychological evaluation rather than surgery. In addition, the actions of the surgeon are unethical and they have acted in a way where no reasonable plastic surgeon would".

We'll catch shekau before elections - GEJ

2015-02-24T04:33:00.004-08:00

President Goodluck Jonathan has said that he believes the leader of the insurgent group, Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, responsible for thousands of deaths, will be apprehended by government forces before Nigeria’s elections starting March 28.
Mr. Jonathan disclosed this in an interview with Thisday newspaper on Friday.
”God willing we will catch Shekau before the elections,” Mr. Jonathan said in response to a question on what his government is doing about Mr. Shekau’s threat to disrupt the elections.
Mr. Shekau, whose group has killed over 15,000 Nigerians, has remained elusive since the sect launched its series of deadly attacks in 2009.

Balo was mischievous

2015-02-19T19:34:00.000-08:00

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has revealed that Mario Balotelli overruled team orders by taking the penalty which secured a 1-0 win for the Reds in their Europa League last-32 clash with Besiktas.

The controversial Italian, who has an excellent record from the spot, took penalty duties off skipper-for-the-night Jordan Henderson, who would normally be expected to step up, and buried the ball to seal the victory with typical aplomb after Jordon Ibe had been fouled inside the box.

But Gerrard, the clubs No.1 penalty taker when fit, says the pre-determined rules dictate that Henderson, not Balotelli, should have been the one to take the spot-kick and he was disappointed with his behaviour.

Jordan should have taken the penalty. Rules are rules. It should have been Henderson. Mario has been a bit mischievous, Gerrard told ITV.

The LA Galaxy-bound midfielder did praise the strikers composure, however, adding: Credit to Mario, hes scored, but its not nice to see when footballers are arguing.

I think Jordan has handled the situation very well. He can see that Mario really wanted to score. Jordan walked away at the right moment and handled his post match interview very well.

Jordan is the captain and Mario showed Jordan a bit of disrespect there, but hes scored a very important goal. I think six or seven players would have wanted to take that penalty so if they all say they are taking it, what happens then?! Rules are in place for a reason.

Balotelli has previously been informed of the rules, with Brendan Rodgers explaining to the former AC Milan striker when he signed that there is a penalty pecking order, but, with Gerrard injured, the Italian opted to take matters into his own hands.

Nevertheless, Liverpool will take a 1-0 lead - and a precious clean sheet - to Turkey for the second leg of their clash with Besiktas, with a place in the last 16 up for grabs.

Man Utd arent just longballers

2015-02-19T19:23:00.000-08:00

Swansea City manager Garry Monk has backed Manchester United counterpart Louis van Gaal over recent criticism of the Dutchmans tactics.

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce labelled Van Gaals side long-ball United following a 1-1 Premier League draw at Upton Park earlier in February.

That prompted a reaction from the Dutchman, who produced a dossier for the media claiming that Allardyces assertion was incorrect and that it was the Hammers who had a higher percentage of long balls.

However, Monk - whose side host United on Saturday - says that the approach shows Van Gaals versatility.

I understand what was said but, in this game, you have to be adaptable, he told the press. You cant have one set way and Man United have done that well.

They can change their style in games, which they did against West Ham, and it was only in the last five minutes when they used their strength well with [Marouane] Fellaini to get a point out of the game.

Its a strength to be adaptable but they can produce fantastic football with world-class players all over the pitch.

It takes time as a manager to implement ideas. Hes gone in with a new ideas for players to understand but the run theyve been on shows what hes doing works.

Theyre already taking his things on board and I can only see them going from strength to strength.

Buhari's Daughter Is Based And Schooling In The United Kingdom

2015-01-14T00:22:00.001-08:00

Yes! No doubt, Buhari's daughter trended on twitter yesterday, after some of her pictures went viral. I am very happy for her that as a beautiful daughter of Buhari, a leading presidential candidate in the forthcoming elections, Priviledges like this come along. I am not actually fused by Buhari's daughter trending because she is beautiful or she is Buhari's daughter, i am so shocked about the information i got about her. The Information is that, Buhari's daughter is based and schooling in the united kingdom. She is a 400level student of microbiology in the university of surrey Uk according to lindaikeji. My take on this: 1. It is no secret that why our politicians keep their children abroad, they use other people's children to achieve their aim. 2. Residing and schooling in the United Kingdom is very expensive. Buhari have been touted severally to be a saint that cant afford even a house, but, just one of his daughter that we have information on, is schooling in the Uk, I don't know about his other children. 3. It is high time nigerians as a whole begin to ask pertinent questions about our leaders and not just follow sheepishly whatever they hear. A politician will always be a politician. 4. Nigeria has pressing issues, very pressing issues, i actually do expect a Hashtag like #SayNoToTerrorism to trend amongst our youth in solidarity with the nigerian Army fighting night and day to end terrorism, but, it is a lady based in the UK that is trending. 5. Say No To Election Violence. #SayNoToElectionViolence should be our watchword. Why we kill ourselves, destroy our hard-earned properties, let us ask ourselves, were are the politicians of this children. Are their own properties even being tampered with? My take on this issue is not just based on only Buhari's daughter, but on all politicians in these country. I strongly believe that, why they fight for power here, their children are somewhere abroad enjoying the perks of being offsprings of them. #SayNoToTerrorism , #SayNoToElectionViolence

Nigerians will praise me when I leave office - GEJ

2014-12-30T20:05:00.000-08:00

.President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday
said he did not expect Nigerians to
shower praises on him while he is still in
office.
He said it was normal that public office
holders would only be commended after
leaving office by the time his
achievements were being compared
with others.
Jonathan spoke while granting audience
to a delegation from his home state,
Bayelsa.
Members of the delegation led by
Governor Seriake Dickson were in the
Presidential Villa, Abuja to felicitate with
him on Christmas and New Year
festivities.
The President said notwithstanding the
various challenges facing the country, he
would do his best to make his people
proud.
He said, “I always say that I will not
even expect praises now because hardly
do people praise serving leaders. It is
when you leave, people will begin to
know.
“When you leave, people will begin to
compare what you have done over the
period vis-a-vis what others have done,
then they will compare you with
whoever takes over.
“Probably that is the time some people
will begin to say good about you. But I
will do my best to make sure that we do
change things.
“We are trying to create enabling
environment for our economy to thrive
irrespective of the challenges we are
having in the petroleum sector and the
security challenges we have.
“I will do my best so that by the time I
will leave, you will be able to say that
when our son was there, he served the
country well so that one day, another
son of Bayelsa may be given another
opportunity to serve Nigerians.”
Jonathan observed that it has become
the norm worldwide for people to be
lambasting their leaders, especially on
the social media.
He regretted that people are using
different things that have been created
by people’s knowledge for negative
purposes.
He cited an example of dynamite, saying
the inventor regretted when he realised
the destructive purposes people have
turned the item to.
The President added, “I assure you that
I am here by the grace of God and with
the willingness of Nigerians. If Nigerians
say I shouldn’t be here, I wouldn’t have
been here. We contested election in
2011 and Nigerians voted for us.
“I am your own, if I don’t do well, the
shame will be on you. If I do well, you
will have some kind of pride. I will do
my best.

Four Nigerian inventors you might not know & what they invented!!!

& 2, tablet computers designed for the
African market.
Nigeria's Saheed Adepoju is a young man with big dreams. He is the inventor of the Inye, a tablet computer designed for the African market.
According to the 31-year-old entrepreneur, his machine's key selling point is its price - $350 (£225) opposed to around $700 for an iPad.
He believes that, because of this, there is a big market for it in Nigeria and elsewhere in Africa, particularly amongst students.
He is also hoping to sell his tablet - which runs on the Google Android operating system - to the Nigerian government and plans to have at least one computer in each local government area.
"The Inye is a mobile internet device. It gives you access to the internet; it allows you to play media files and watch movies. What we have is an 8-inch device, a device that is half-way between a laptop and a mobile phone," he told the BBC's series African Dream.

Seyi Oyesola -- Nigerian-born Anesthesiologist and Critical Care Physician
Co-inventor of "Hospital-in-a-Box", a solar-powered, life-saving operating room which can be transported to remote areas of Africa and set up quickly
Although he spent part of his youth in America (including going to high school in Cleveland, OH), Seyi Oyesola's heart was always in his native country of Nigeria as he dreamed of returning there to become a physician and help his people. After completing high school here, he returned with his family to his homeland where he earned his medical degree and began his internship training. But he soon discovered that on his meager salary as an intern, he could barely afford to maintain his mother’s ageing car. So he left Nigeria for Britain to complete his training, asking himself: “Is this going to be a permanent phenomenon? Will we keep paying doctors in Africa so poorly that they migrate to the U.S. or the United Kingdom?" As he later realized when he began practice as an anesthesiologist and critical care physician, such situations are but microcosms of more serious medical and healthcare problems plaguing Africa. But with determinism and optimism, Seyi is doing his part to make a difference.

Dakuku set to replace Amaechi in Rivers

2014-12-04T19:25:00.000-08:00

Dakuku Peterside, was today formally adopted as the governorship torch bearer for the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the primaries in Port Harcourt as he bids to replace Governor Rotimi Amaechi as governor of the state.
He was the sole candidate of the party. Senator Magnus Abe, representing Rivers South East who also was an aspirant until stakeholders of the party settled for Dakuku stayed away from the primaries.
Asita O Asita Honourable, Chairman of Rivers State caucus at the National Assembly and a member representing Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni and Ahoada West federal constituency moved the motion that Dakuku Peterside be adopted as APC governorship candidate since there was no other aspirant for the position.
His motion was supported by Dere Samuel Horsfall, APC Chairman Asari Toru and Chairman of APC local Government Chairmen forum in Rivers state.
Despite the adoption of Dakuku, Prince Austin Eweka, Chairman APC Governorship Primary Election for Rivers still conducted election among the 4,574 delegates.
At the end of the voting that took place at the Alfred Diette Spiff Civic Centre Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, out of 4,574 delegates, 4,321 were present.
Vote cast was 3,914 and of the votes, 3,773 were valid, while 140 votes were invalid.
Meanwhile, Rivers governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi has stated in clear terms that, equity, natural justice and fair judgement were the salient criteria used in selecting Dakuku Adolphus-Peterside, from the Rivers South-East Senatorial District as gubernatorial torch bearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the 2015 general elections.
Amaechi stated this during the APC Gubernatorial Primary election held at the Main Bowl of the Alfred Diette-Spiff Complex in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
He maintained that the Rivers West Senatorial district and the Rivers East Senatorial district have taken their gubernatorial zoning slots in the past years, adding that, equity must reign supreme in ensuring that the governor after him comes from the Rivers South-East Senatorial zone in 2015.
According to him, “Rivers West Senatorial district and Rivers East Senatorial district have taken their slots, and now, equity demands that it should go to Rivers South-East Senatorial district. The All progressives congress, APC in Rivers State had earlier agreed that the governorship slot should go to Hon, (Dr) Dakuku Adol-Peterside…From today, I will continue to be in the front of Hon (Dr.) Dakuku Adol-Peterside until all elections are concluded.
“My joy is that, today, we have shown the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP that, there can be another popular party in Rivers State. In the last elections in 2011, we gave the PDP over 1.8million votes. This time, we challenge them to come and get such votes again let us see. This is the time to prove our point. Our delegates for this gubernatorial primary election is 4,574. This is an opportunity to ensure that, we do not suffer any longer”. Amaechi said.
The APC leader in the state also commended Senator Magnus Abe and his Deputy Engr. Tele Ikuru for their sterling qualities and useful contributions to his administration, urging them to remain steadfast and committed to the party.
“That does not mean that, one of my bosom friends, Senator Magnus Abe is not qualified. There are two distinct Rivers people I respect so much because of their intellect. They are Senator Magnus Abe and Odein Ajumogobia, SAN, but, it is unfortunate, Ajumogobia will not be allowed to win the PDP guber primaries. In the same way, I have mentioned that the Deputy Governor , Engineer Tele is also qualified. With my Deputy, I have never watched my back. If I am overseas or in London, and I call him to handle some assignments, he has been doing well beyond my expectations. He is a man of due process”. Amaechi noted.
Governor Amaechi equally explained that, the choice of Hon. (Dr) Dakuku Adolphus-Peterside is hinged on the struggle for the return of the Soku oil wells bequeathed to Bayelsa State and the Etche oil well to Abia State being masterminded by the federal government.
“We have suffered long in the hands of the Federal government. All the oil wells in Soku, owned by the Kalabari people have been taken away to Bayelsa State and that of Etche to Abia state. We will fight with everything to deliver APC in the 2015 general elections. As APC faithfuls, I expect all of us, to have Soku and Etche oil wells at the back of our minds. The oil wells belong to our people. When I leave office, I expect the next Governor to continue the struggle for the return of the oil wells to our people, the Rivers people”, Amaechi explained.
The State chief Executive tasked the Military and the Police that will be deployed to monitor the 2015 general elections in the state to be neutral and ensure the protection of lives and property.
Amaechi advised the Military and the Police not to be partisan in politics as such attempt could be regarded as an act of impunity against civilians.
“I hear the PDP and the Federal government are planning to use the military and the Police to stop me from moving around during the 2015 general elections. I am the chief security officer of the state and if they stop me, you will see what will happen. The duty of the Military and the Police during the elections is to ensure protection of lives and property”, Amaechi said.
He further commended stakeholders and party faithfuls for choosing and giving automatic tickets to Assembly members in the All Progressives Congress, APC and advised those who lost out to remain steadfast in moving the party forward.
Governor Amaechi used the opportunity to urge Rivers people to foster a free, fair and credible election in the 2015 general elections, adding that their Permanent Voters Card is key in choosing credible candidates.
Earlier, the Chairman of the APC Guber Primary election, Prince Austin Nweke thanked Governor Amaechi and party faithful for making it easy for the panel to conduct the party primaries in an atmosphere devoid of rancour and acrimony.
