Personally I still have those blue tinge in the photo but that is not as it should.

This is "Movements 3" remade several times.
Probably I was too tired and poked the holes so wrong. But I've learned .. patience is a virtue!
I knew that already ..think I forgot :-)

Persoonlijk hou ik toch wel van die blauw zweem in de foto maar dat is niet zoals het hoort.
Dit is "Movements 3" verschillende keren opnieuw gemaakt.
Waarschijnlijk was ik te moe en prikte daarom de gaatjes verkeerd. Maar ik heb ervan geleerd..geduld is een schone zaak!
Dat wist ik al ..hmm blijkbaar vergeten :-)

I was very surprised when I found out that I was mentioned in "the nicest webshops in the spotlights " !

Ana is an artist and illustrator,she lives in Romania and I love her embroidery and collages!

The cross-stitches in combination of the modern story is quite strange to look at.

I like that..not to expect our cross-stitched flowers :-),

stored in our memories but slowly replaced by contemporary embroidery.

Hier een foto van een serie waar ik aan werk. De serie heet " Little pleasures " geïnspireerd op de kleine charmante boekjes die ik in de vorige post heb laten zien.

Here is a picture of a series I'm working on. The series is called "Little Pleasures " inspired by the charming little booklets I showed you in the previous post.

Natuurlijk nog steeds aan het borduren maar om af en toe wat afstand te nemen en mezelf te blijven prikkelen maak ik ander werk.

Course,still embroidering but to stay stimulated I make other work.

I am curretly absorbed by this book. Knitted sculptures with wire.I think these forms are very charming!

Momenteel ben ik verdiept in dit boek.Gebreide sculpturen van ijzerdraad,en ik vind deze vormen,hangend in de lucht heel charmant!

Well,today is my birthday and when I look in the mirror I can see that I've reached a charming age :-)

Vandaag ben ik jarig en als ik in de spiegel kijk dan zie ik dat ik een charmante leeftijd heb bereikt :-)

Finished this work or not ? The place in the upper right corner...I am thinking about. At the academy,I learned about balance in the image and my body reacts to the fact that I let the spot empty. Because I think it's a strong image now... What do you think ? I'm curious...

working on this one.

Lovely sun in my studio..I inhaled the sun because it has rained so much last week. I still cough but have no fever anymore.My intention is to make some gifts for my little shop again. In recent weeks there was no time for it. So stay tuned!

Finished " Movements 2" 2011

The sun is shining om my threads.

Finished my second " Movement " this one is more at ease.I'm working on another one...slow,slow,slow.

But I love it when the sun in my studio is shining on the embroidery thread..the glance is wonderful!

A few weeks ago my dog Limuna had a stroke..it happened while we were on our way to my studio.She sank to her hind legs,suddenly,just like that.She could not get up for a while..terrible to see!

After about 30 minutes,she stood up to throw up,crept close to me for a while (I was still sitting on the doorsteps) and just like that, she started to walk home.We went to our veterinarian,Limuna was checked..everything was normal again.A few days after this incident she still was very tired and searching for dark spots to sleep.Now everything is normal,she's playing again,eating good but the stroke can happen more often, it's neurological.Brrr.

Art I like.

I jumped on the embroidery of Shaun Kardinal and I'm really in love with it ! It's also the recognition of the figures,the stitches..and he uses his colors of thread in combination with the colors of the postcards.(but not in the fisrt picture) That makes that I love about what I see here. It's not easy to stitch so perfect :) He uses large format postcards.

Difficult to make choices which one I had to post on my blog but check his site he made much more!

Hmm,abstract art which I like..:)

It was fun working on this trees and I made them in several colors. From plastics and dry rice, I found the materials while I was cleaning the house from my (deceased) parents. I had to do something with it and I remembered that someone said to me on my tripp to China "don't waist your rice because the people in Asia have to work hard to pick the rice! "
So I painted it ( did that before when I made an installation with rice for an exhibition in Brussels)
And I'm glad ..they look very nice hanging at the wall and when the sun is shining on them real
" EYE-SNACKS" !!

Finished my abstracts.

The first two pieces I tried to work more with simple lines and forms. It was a reaction of the long slowly progress of the last work(last picture). But I like the figures of the third and already working on another two.

I find it very difficult to focus a long time at the same piece because then I start making mistakes specially when I have to count the stitches :) So between the pieces I create some small gifts for my little shop.

To clear my mind and to build concentration.

Is this a strange way to work ?

Working on several embroidery/stitching pieces. They become more and more abstract..the materials are then more speaking by themselves. It's a slowly process. Love to work with fragile materials.

Sitting,staring,stitching ...again sitting,staring,stitching.Love that process ! The deliberation,how to proceed with the work. So exciting when you know how to proceed and you are threading your needle again to stitch in the paper! But if it's wrong then you have to start all over...

I think my blogging is not as regulary as it was,I promise you it will be better :) Am busy with new work and things for the shop. Stay tuned and have a nice evening xx

I was amazed when I saw this chair and asked myself if it's really possible to sit on it.It's so lovely how it is made..and how the threads are making figures. This chair is made with silk thread tightened around a bearing oak frame. It looks very light..wow,I know the right place in my home for it :)
The incredible chair is made by Alvi Design. As a lover of thread, I lick my fingers off to see this..hmm everything is possible!

House in the stars.

It's been a while, I think one week.. so I thought i have to make a fresh new start :) I changed some things on my blog..to make it more quiet in here.

When I was little I was often in dreams and I looked up at night from my bedroom window at the stars. Then I thought that our house was standing in the stars..oh I could look for hours ! Made this work for the shop.
Unfortunately I have a 2 weeks cold, snotty, and it just will not go away. It is such a weird weather. Yesterday it was warm and today a lot colder.But between the sniffles, I got a nice message last week that my shop is in Flavourites! Read more here. I'm sorry it's written in Dutch.

For you all, a fresh start on Monday !

It was a busy week,there was so much to do in our city. Lovely design to see everywhere....a lot of foreigners. I hope the trip to the city of Eindhoven was worth it and that the have enjoyed beautiful design! In the meantime I found a dictionary of stitches..it's in black and white pictures but ok.

Eindhoven is full of people right now...Dutch Design Week started Saturday. I have to see much more. Great things to see.Overwhelming. The panels in this closet are made from newspapers pressed till wood again.

My passion for thread art is even more increased since I've discoverd this work ! Debbie Smyth,living in The U.K, makes such amazing,intense and dedicated projects..just unbelievable !! Yes,threads and pinns.

She's still doing this by herself and sometimes when she has too large projects..her boyfriend is helping her out. I love also her big drawings on the wall...Lots of workhours are in those drawings,first to draw on the wall ,then smashing in the pinns and then Debbie can start winding those threads around those pinns. Dear friends,it's been two years since I started blogging. October 2009, a few months after my parents were deceased. Basically everything to restart and see how I would like it. Working in my studio and a job 3 days a week... ..continue where I left off and more. My last exhibition was in 2008 in Berlin and I suddenly one again in 2010.So I continued, even started my own shop!

This happened also because of you!

The first two pictures are wall-hangings made by me and since today I'm selling them in my shop. The other pictures are taken in my studio looking outside the window and a work in progress on my table.

It's getting cold now,real autumn and I long for a cup of hot chocolate milk with a dash of rum !
