EYE-SNACKS

My series " Positivity "

noreply@blogger.com (**EYE-SNACKS**) — Sat, 21 Jun 2025 19:09:00 +0000

I worked hard to make new lovely and unique works and

I think i'm back on track again :-)

It's so lovely to create and to dream about things.

Some works didn't make it to the finish line

and ended up in the bin.

But this work made it till the end.

Painted on wood with a faint golden glow.

I love it!

So if you like check my small webshop...

noreply@blogger.com (**EYE-SNACKS**) — Fri, 31 Jan 2025 12:10:00 +0000

Hi Everyone,

After a few years of silence I couldn't resist to start a new webshop.

With all unique and handmade work by me.

I hope you'll like it and support me.

I'm still working on new products

and hopefully you'll like them.

Thanks for saying hello again!

The name of my webshop stayed the same

** EYE-SNACKS **

And say Hi to me ;-)

I will try to write again, not every week

but so now and then.

Long time ago.....things have changed.

noreply@blogger.com (**EYE-SNACKS**) — Sat, 02 May 2020 10:50:00 +0000

Long time ago :

Years went by...

Excactly 6 years ago.

I'm sorry

I had to renew my self

after my husband died

things changed

but I'm back on track

And I made new work. And a French book about embroideries took my new work in it.

In the next post I will tell more.

I'm a bit scared to post things again but maybe

it will help me to start again with some

creative projects.

Silence.

A while ago...I love silence lately...to think...to recover..
to heal..

Flowers,faces and thread.

noreply@blogger.com (**EYE-SNACKS**) — Tue, 27 May 2014 19:29:00 +0000

I had to do something with those flowers, they did a great job in my vase and now the leaves were falling down.

And still collecting thread and little treasures.

Some more.

The pink ribbon fluttered ... and I had a memory.

News of the good things.

noreply@blogger.com (**EYE-SNACKS**) — Wed, 05 Mar 2014 18:01:00 +0000

It's been quiet for a while but the people who regularly visited my blog know that I'm in a grieving process of my partner.
And also I had to move to another studio.
My new studio is located here in the TAC. Still a mess, soon I will take pictures to show my new location!
So there's been a lot going on.

Now some other news some of my work is mentioned in
Flow Magazine...yes hurray.
Amongst other lovely embroiderers like Jenny Hart,
Dottie Angel and Marloes Duyker.
I'm proud and I know N. would be proud too!!

Thank you Eva, it gives me energy again !

Small reminders.

noreply@blogger.com (**EYE-SNACKS**) — Tue, 11 Feb 2014 19:44:00 +0000

Last week I've sold a work of mine and it just made me so happy. It reminded me that I've something

to look forward to. Making new work. Again it's not easy when you have lost your partner through this terrible disease.

So this is what gives me a sparkle of light.

Melancholic.

noreply@blogger.com (**EYE-SNACKS**) — Sun, 17 Nov 2013 19:46:00 +0000

Today it was a melancholic day. With music, memories and some tears.

But it' s good to cry once in a while.
It' s not easy to loose your Love of your life.

Xxx Ingrid.

Friends.

noreply@blogger.com (**EYE-SNACKS**) — Sun, 03 Nov 2013 20:00:00 +0000

My friend Mir has a little garden where she let grow flowers and vegetables.
These vegetables taste superb and her flowers are beautiful!

After hard work with friends to throw stuff ( just garbage no clothes or something ) away from my partner who passed away 3 months ago. I took a picture of this gorgeous lp cover.

When I receive the Uppercase Magazine at my home it always reminds me at my promise I've made
to N. To promise him was easy but to live up my promise is much more difficult.
I still can't concentrate much but ok...all in good time.
It takes time....

Sitting in my Studio...

noreply@blogger.com (**EYE-SNACKS**) — Sun, 20 Oct 2013 19:48:00 +0000

For the first time since.... I went to my Studio..just sat over there and made the first picture.
Thinking,looking and remembering.
The second picture, embroidery on cotton, is at my little shop and at Galerie Tydeman in Eindhoven.
Which are representing the House of Talents.

The Dutch Design Week 2013 in Eindhoven has started.

So maybe I can take some pictures what's happening in Eindhoven.
( If I feel ok ..this I have to mention because I have good and bad days after loosing my partner in a shortly period.)

A little start.

A long time ago since I grabbed my camera again.

I could concentrate a bit but afterwards I was very very tired.

Maybe it's normal after what I'm going through.

Some things this week.

noreply@blogger.com (**EYE-SNACKS**) — Sun, 29 Sep 2013 15:24:00 +0000

I picked some lovely flowers.

Made rosehip jam..for the first time they appeared in my garden.

So I had to try.

Today I wanted to go to my studio..to work but I couldn't concentrate on my embroidery.Maybe next time.

Outside it was beautiful weather...

I wish..my Love....

Lovely Yvonne from Following Breadcrumps wrote something about my work.

Thank you so much,Yvonne!

I also got a card, I love it when I still get them, from a friend of my Love.

Reminding 1 october it would be his birthday.

Empty...

Ingrid van den Brand Uppercase

There was tension crept into me.Things happened to me which were suddenly too much and came down on me.

The next day there happened such positive things, a relief.

I grabbed the positive, finished one work and started to make a new one, slowly.

From Canada I got these lovely notebooks in my mailbox, they gave me a really positive vibe.

Such a good idea to made these eclecto notebooks.

And I'm proud to see some of my pages in front.

It also reminds me to a promise I made to my Love but I can tell you it's not easy to fulfill.

With a head full of emotions, thoughts and memories.

Thank you Janine & friends from Canada for reminding me and your support!!

xxx Ingrid.

Slowly.

noreply@blogger.com (**EYE-SNACKS**) — Sun, 08 Sep 2013 12:12:00 +0000

Limuna sad.

Promised to finish this one.

Picked some wild flowers.

Thank you all for the beautiful cards, the power that you have wished me .. I really appreciate!!

I know that I promised my Love a few things and I will,

but it's not easy to deal with the 20 years we've made together.I can not concentrate as well, a bit chaotic.

I am so grateful for the warm people around me!

They still call me, keep an eye on me because I became skinny. Even though I think I've become thicker again.

They ask me to dinner sometimes a welcome change from being alone, cooking alone, eating alone.

Fortunately plays Limuna again.

In the picture above she was very sad because my Love was sick, that was in the beginning. She felt it immediately.

I'm gonna try to write on my blog regularly say 1x a week to start with.If it's more than it's a good thing.

(I think nobody is waiting for a sad story so it's difficult to write about other things for me and it costs me a lot of energy)

We were also very touched by the gesture of Janine from Uppercase Magazine of sending me the Magazine " to keep creating and exploring, even in difficult times... and know that your friends in Canada support you and your creative work"

N. was very thankful to know that other ones would encourage me to continue with my artwork (if he wouldn't be there anymore)because he was afraid I would stop.

Also a little review from the Atheneum Bookstore based in Amsterdam about my work in Uppercase #18(I'm sorry it's in Dutch)

I'm became very tired now,so I'm going to take a walk with Limuna.

xxx Ingrid

Some words about my Love in the newspaper.

family vacation in Italy

A tiny bright spot and tears.

Ingrid van den Brand Uppercase.

A few days ago this wonderful Uppercase Magazine arrived at our home.
Luckily my Love felt good that day.
We were both so happy with this tiny bright spot on our difficult situation.
N. read the interview about me and my work it right away, over and over again.
He was so proud that I was inn, along with Piet Hein Eek ;-) !!!
So tears came out..when I saw this little sparkling in his eyes.

Indeed it's a gorgeous printed magazine and the interview is beautiful written by Janine.
And .. I'm glad he could see this because now his energy is deteriorating fast.

Thank you so much,Janine and Erin!

It stands still here.

noreply@blogger.com (**EYE-SNACKS**) — Sat, 13 Jul 2013 19:44:00 +0000

This picture was taken last year around this time.
Now we can't sit in the sun and enjoy because life is standing still over here.
I think it's about a month since I've posted on my blog.
From one day to another, my life has been totally turned upside down.
Because my love is diagnosed with stomach cancer.
On a totally unexpected way, we found out.
Terrible pain in back and leg which we first thought it was a hernia.
Meanwhile, my love stayed a week in hospital and was treated with radiation therapy.
Puncture of the liver were taken and showed that the metastases in the liver came from the stomach.
This type of cancer is not as common and because there are metastases in the liver and lympfen etc there is no treatment possible. The doctors give him a few more months.

It is terribly frustrating when you see your love in such pain and the medication is not working properly!
Or because you read in the package insert of medication that it so bad for your stomach.
Choose between two evils, every time.
I hope the therapy will be working and that a solution is found for the nerve pain in his leg.
So he can sit in the sun, weather can walk with Limuna and can fully enjoy a moment with his two children and me.

He is now at home wanted to get out of the hospital.
Our house is full of flowers and dear friends and family, neighbours help us where they can.
We have such lovely people around us!

Meanwhile, he regularly encourages me to continue what I'm doing.
What I find difficult but what I can understand.
This is the first step, the restart of my blog.
Sometimes with words and sometimes only images.

I'm running out of words so ...Have a nice week-end and enjoy! xxx Ingrid.

A look in Nashville.

noreply@blogger.com (**EYE-SNACKS**) — Sun, 16 Jun 2013 20:26:00 +0000

Here are some Nashville views from the exhibition " The Right Leftovers "
Photocollages,Thread art and Streetcombings are shown
There is also a workshop linked to the exhibition that shows how you found objects
or things at home (that do not seem so valuable) can be viewed in another way.
So nice to see how everyone is gathering things to interact.
This picture took my attention because I didn't know what this metal thing is, I still don't know.
More pictures are promised so this is the first part :-))

For all the people who live near Nashville you can still visit the show till the 29th of June.
More info here ; Haus rotations

Thank you Megan and Stephen for all your work !!

The promised other ones.
