Sketchdump. Studying Poses (reference: posemaniacs) and sketching in my travelling sketchbook. I really have to study anatomy. But I’m so lazy .___. I prefer randomly trying out… I’ll move in summer, so I decided to get an anatomy study book after that. Any recommendations?

whaa I just don’t get why my scanner makes the colors so grayish (compare blue sketch. The background is supposed to be baby pink sth…)

Spring finally arrived in Switzerland!
We had a terribly long winter here. So I cleaned up our balcony and did this Sunday afternoon color practice.

The scanner ate all the colors once again, so I attached an iPhone shot once again.

Oh well. It’s once of the sketches that came with the January sketch dump (see pic 3), I slighty tried to change for the better and failed. When will I ever get the anatomy thing? (To be honest… I also don’t feel like study anatomy stuff, but more prefer to try out until I get it right xD)

Saturday nights on tumblr. Just came back from work and decided to upload the cheerleader. It’s the colored version of the sketch I made a few days ago. Just a small color pencil warm up. And I messed up the face (mostly the eyes xD)

Happy Easter!

I present you the march 2013 sketch dump.

And it’s really a dump. I feel like I didn’t even manage to draw a simple pose this month. That’s why I tried and tried over and over again to draw some simple poses.

One might realize the “vintage” feeling in some…. I watched ‘the notebook’ this month and I liked the clothing in there so much <3

most of them are really quick sketches (except for the animal studies) and some of them I did in the train :-/

Yeah, Probably a lot of you (girls) know him already.

I’ve only discovered the art of Kai (also known as khaoskai) recently. It’s not only the Visual Kei/Punk style that fascinates me as a former Visual Kei Fangirly, but mostly also the watercolor technique. It’s so precise and strong in colors it makes me go from admiration to jealousy back to admiration and motivation to try harder myself.

Unfinished pictures dump xP

Some of the pictures I’m never going to finish or add details as I wanted to.

Picture 1: wow… that’s like from Summer 2011. I didn’t finish it because it was just a picture for my mood, because I was feeling like an ice queen, without any emotions etc xD

Picture 2: I actually liked that one when I started it, but I just didn’t have enough patience to finish it. It was my first try with PaintTool SAI, and I remember I didn’t like the programm at first

Picture 3: Just a random Chibi Paint Tryout, which I soon gave up on, because it just looked weird to me. So I just started another portrait practice. July 2012

Picture 4: I really liked this one a lot when I started it and still kinda do. I just didn’t have the patience to redo the nose at that time and kinda forgot to finish it afterwards… August 2012

Picture 5: Another portrait practice that got out of hand. I started coloring it too carefully and I kinda lost interest in it with the time, because I never wanted it to be that detailed. November 2012

Picture 6: December 2012. Another kind of “Ice Queen” or “Moth Queen” thingy I wanted to paint. I just got too busy with other things and after that I just didn’t feel like working out all the mistakes I made on this one and decided to start another one another time ;D

Picture 7: A recent unfinished one from February 2013. I kinda liked the style but hated the technique I used and decided to leave it as it is before messing it up completely…

Remember 3/11

I remember that Day. I was at university. A friend, half Japanese was supposed to have a presentation in Japanese History that day. She walked up to me nervously. “Stefanie!” - “What’s wrong, are you nervous?” - “There was an earthquake in Japan!” - “Yeah? That happens a lot there. You should know best.” -“No. I mean, a really strong one! My mother is over there! She’s in Gunma! What if something happened to her?” - “I’m sure she’s okay, calm down!” - “I’ve been trying to reach her the whole morning.”

Later that day she finally reached her mother, who was okay. They were only scared, because even in Gunma, the earthquake was kinda strong.

When I got home and watched TV, I finally realized what she meant by “a really strong one”. I spent hours watching the news and immediately contacted my friends and family over there (which of course were alright, since they don’t live nearby).

There are still so many people out there who haven’t got their homes back. And a lot of people lost their lives two years ago.

Japan is my second home. It’s been two years since the catastrophe, but I still grieve when I see those pictures. I’m happy none of my family and friends was involved. And so I think about others whose families and friends were.

I watched the movie of the trailer above last year. I’m posting it, because people shouldn’t forget what happened two years ago. My thoughts are with the victims.

Hours and hours of work… But it still won’t look like I imagined D:

Magician, 2012/2013

I made the sketch back in November, but never dared to color it. I knew I wanted to do it with watercolors, but I also knew I hadn’t a lot of practice. I wanted to do it the same way like back in 2012, when I painted my first picture with watercolors (-this-). Well… I can’t say I’m unhappy with the result, but also not completely satisfied either.

I really liked the coloration in the beginning, but I kinda screwed it up with the background I think x)

I put a lot of effort in this picture though, and can say, that I kinda learned sth about watercolors. In the end I allowed myself to enhance the magic part a little bit with Photoshop… it just wouldn’t look good to me >__<

However, I hope some of you like it.

The watercolors I used, by the way, are mainly some very cheap ones from the supermarket I got about 10 years ago from my mum. I mixed them up with some Schmincke Watercolors I got for Christmas :)

Size is A4 (the tiny face was a pain in the ass with all the details!)

The full movie. I’m posting it, because I’ve seen it on several tumblr blogs I’m following, and it’s very inspirational!

I love the style, and mostly the animation of the facial expressions and the character design itself. Truly beautiful short movie. That’s what we want to see from Disney :D

Hey guys. I present you my newest (quick) drawing.

I was browsing through my drawings to put order into the mess on my computer and discovered some old characters of mine. I couldn’t stop myself from having a try, remaking them. And voilà!

Considering there are almost 9 years between those drawings, I haven’t really made great progress. Maybe I should focus on drawing a little more…

Haven’t wished you all a Happy New Year yet, haven’t I?

I’m a terrible person. I haven’t wishes ANYONE a happy new year. Because basically I don’t believe in such customs. But anyway. Here you go:

I hope I can make more progress this year and provide some proper, good art, which hopefully a lot of people will enjoy.
