For those that use Twitter, here's an idea to report spammers to Twitter and to your Friends. #BlockMonday is the hashtag to use to notify people of spammers. The idea of using #BlockMonday as a hashtag was thought up by @jcatw.

Using the #BlockMonday tag is the reverse of using #FollowFriday, just type "#BlockMonday @username" and you'll notify your followers to block particular spammers.

I've noticed alot of spammers abusing Twitter so hopefully this idea will catch on and everyone will benefit!

Android Samsung Galaxy is headed to Bell

A poster now in Bell locations with the title “Innovation beyond your Imagination” has 3 devices on it: Samsung Galaxy with a nice Android logo, Omnia II and the Impact.

Both the Omnia II and Impact have already launched on Bell’s new HSPA network and we knew from the Reclaim launch that speculations were that the Galaxy was headed to Bell. A poster gives confirmation but a date is still in question, the poster states:

“The first Android device in the Bell line up – and the thinnest available in the market – Galaxy comes fully loaded with an array of multimedia features. The advanced 3.2″ AMOLED display provides unmatched luminescence and vivid eye catching colours, even in direct sunlight or at an angle. Android OS syncs e-mails, including Gmail, contact, calendar

Multitasking on the iPhone

Yes, you're not seeing things, multitasking is now available on the iPhone HOWEVER, you're iPhone must be jail broken.

I haven't jailbroken my iPhone yet, but this multitasking feature is making me consider jailbreaking my iPhone sooner rather than later.

The app that lets you multitask is called Backgrounder and by what I can see from the video, the multitasking functions just like the Palm Pre. I've included a video of an iPhone with mutitasking installed.

WhatsApp is a direct iPhone-2-iPhone messenger chat application. WhatsApp allows you to carry on a conversation in real time with your contacts without having to pay for SMS.

In addition to chat there is a "Status" feature, thanks to which you and your friends will always know what's up and how to best get in touch.

And with iPhone Push Notifications, WhatsApp can even let you know when your contact's status changes and what they are up to.

This is like Blackberry Messenger, but designed for iPhones, it's really cool and I love using it.

iPhone Coming To Virgin Mobile

Some of you heard that Virgin Mobile was going to bring on the Apple iPhone and today an official statement went out: “Virgin Mobile Canada will launch iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in Virgin Mobile Retail Stores and online in Canada in the coming months”.

I suspect the iPhone will arrive around February 2010. It will be interesting to see what their monthly rate plans will be… As all the other you can expect the prices to be somewhere around the following:

3G 8 GB: $99.00 on a 3-year contract
3G 16GB: $149.00 on a 3-year contract
3GS 16 GB: $199.00 on a 3-year contract
3GS 32 GB: $299.00 on a 3-year contract

FireFox coming to PlayStation 3?

A tip was received from a source very close to Sony who says that they have been in talks with Mozilla lately about possibly porting FireFox over to the PlayStation 3 (PS3). That said, a source made sure to point out that they were unsure if any deal had actually been reached at this point, but it is great news none the less considering the complaints Sony has been getting about the lack of reliability with their current built in PS3 web browser.

Throwing FireFox into the mix would give PS3 the ultimate advantage when it came to internet functionality. I know I'll be saying a prayer for this one, and Sal's Tavern will be sure to bring you any updates to this rumor as they become available.

Bell To Drop System Access Fee

See the Bell announcement below:

Effective November 20th, 2009 Bell Mobility will be launching new pricing for all existing postpaid plans & will no longer be charging the $6.95 system access fee.

This puts Bell in line with Telus, who just recently dropped their SAF and 911 fee but did increase price plans by $5.00 (still cheaper than with the SAF).

This will be good news for new Bell customers who will now have a slightly lower priced monthly fee. Existing Bell customers will likely have to change plans to take advantage of the non-SAF.

Current Bell iPhone customers may simply have the fee dropped, as it would not make much sense to have those customers change their plans considering they have had it for less than a month.

It is unknown as this time what will happen with existing business/corporate plan customers.

Here’s an early peek at PlayStation 3 (PS3) firmware update (v3.10). The latest update incorporates Facebook into the PS3 experience. By linking your PlayStation Network account to your Facebook account, you will have the option for the PS3 to automatically update your Facebook News Feed with Trophy and PlayStation Store activity. This update also enables developers to set specific criteria in their titles to publish additional game information to your News Feed. You can then check out your updates, and those of your friends, on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media favorites through the PS3’s built-in web browser.

This is just the beginning of our integration with Facebook and we are looking forward to adding new features enhancing the experience in future updates.

Additional highlights from update 3.10 include:

•The Photo category on the XMB has been revamped to make it easier to see more of your photos stored on the PS3.
•The PSN Friends List has been modified based on feedback we received after update 3.00. Additionally, you can now choose a color for your PSN ID on the XMB.

1080p HD Is Coming To YouTube

YouTube is excited to say that support for watching 1080p HD videos in full resolution is on its way. Starting next week, YouTube's HD mode will add support for viewing videos in 720p or 1080p, depending on the resolution of the original source, up from our maximum output of 720p today.

As resolution of consumer cameras increases, YouTube wants to make sure it is the best home on the web to showcase your content. For viewers with big monitors and a fast computer, try switching to 1080p to get the most out of the fullscreen experience.

Facebook & Gamer Cards on PlayStation 3

We held off until someone (somewhere) gave the knowing nod, and it looks like a source close to Sony has finally buckled and told Eurogamer that, yes indeed, Facebook is coming to the PS3.

Rumours have been popping up like wild-fires this week after images appeared on Scrawlfx depicting the popular social networking site as being accessible from the XMB.

The images (now pulled) were actually a slip-up by Sony and left on a PlayStation website by accident.

With the Facebook access part now confirmed as legit we’re going to assume that the new Gamercard colours shown will also feature in the next firmware update.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Story
The storyline of Modern Warfare 2 picks up where the events of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare left off. The ultranationalist Russian leader Zakhaev has been eliminated, but it seems that his lieutenant, Vladimir Makarov, is an even bigger danger.

Having made a successful play for power, Intel indicates that he is extending the reach of his influence well beyond the borders of Mother Russia, causing a stir in the international community and prompting the involvement of Task Force 141. Task Force 141 is an elite multinational unit made up of Navy Seals, Delta Force operatives, British SAS and CIA.

In the single player campaign you are Sergeant Gary "Roach" Sanderson, with the hero of Call of Duty 4, "Soap" MacTavish, promoted to Captain, making an appearance as an NPC (non-player character) and your commanding officer. The elimination of Makarov and his underlings at any cost is your number one priority, regardless where the fight occurs.

Netflix streaming to PlayStation 3

Do you know what I find SO great about XBox 360 users in the US of A? They have Netflix streaming movies right to their family rooms their their gaming consoles.

But now, PlayStation 3 (PS3) users in the US of A are no longer left out in the cold. PS3 users can now subscribe and watch movies from Netflix right in their own family room as well.

Until Netflix can bring their app straight to the PS3's Cross Menu Bar (XMB), user will have to run a disc to stream movies from Netflix. Below you'll find a short video clip on how Netflix will run on your PS3.

Congrats to Telus mobility! In a brilliant deal, Telus in co-operation with Bell Mobility now have the iPhone!

This NOT a great day for competition, but it is a great day for Bell and Telus subscribers...now EVERYONE can have an iPhone.

In the past I thought certain mobile phones had the potential to become the 'iphone killer', but looking back, they have all failed! NOTHING can compare to an iPhone. The iPhone is cool, fun, useful, I believe it's the OFFICIAL PHONE OF THE AVERAGE CELL PHONE USER.

Yes, there's Blackberry, an equally great and successful phone, but Blackberries have a place in the business/enterprise world and your average user doesn't run a business or hold a top position in a multinational corporation.

The iPhone is just great and everyone SHOULD have one! Please tweet this post, my business depends on readers with trigger fingers.

93% of Canadians will be able to access state-of-the-art national network in two days

MONTREAL, Nov. 2 2009 -- In an address to The Canadian Club today
in Montréal, Bell and BCE President and CEO George Cope announced that Bell
will launch its much-anticipated new HSPA wireless network on Wednesday,
November 4.

   "In two days, Canadians will be able to access the most advanced wireless
network in the world," said Mr. Cope. "The launch of our new network - months
ahead of schedule - underlines that the Bell team continues to deliver on our
strategic imperatives to accelerate wireless in Canada and to invest in
next-generation broadband networks. We move forward every day toward
achieving our goal - for Bell to be recognized by customers as Canada's
leading communications company."

   Bell will also offer a wide range of new HSPA smartphones and turbo
sticks from the world's leading mobile device manufacturers on November 4.

   The new network will be the fastest in Canada, with access speeds as high
as 21 Megabits per second (Mbps) and with the largest service area by far -
more than a million square kilometres - covering approximately 20,000
Canadian cities and towns and 93% of the national population. With
international roaming capability on GSM, UMTS and HSPA networks, Bell HSPA
clients will also be able to roam internationally in more than 200 countries
at launch.

   Originally scheduled to launch in time for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games
in Vancouver next February, Bell's new network launch this week represents
the fastest network deployment of its kind in the world. The state-of-the-art
HSPA network also provides Bell with the most efficient upgrade path to the
Fourth Generation (4G) LTE wireless standard in coming years.

   With a commitment to offering maximum choice in wireless products and
services, Bell will continue to operate its existing EVDO network, currently
Canada's largest 3G network and offering exceptional North American coverage,
alongside the new HSPA network.
