For spring 2026 fashion trends, designers are focused on expanding classic silhouettes and colors to uncharted territory - a soft departure from the over-the-top aesthetic we saw dominate the spring 2025 season. For the New York Fashion Week shows that ran from Sept. 11 to Sept. 17, designers provided a treasure trove of inspiration for our wardrobes this spring, and fortunately, you can start wearing these trends immediately.

The most prominent fashion houses enlisted major stars to wear their designs for the upcoming season, including "Love Island USA" star Olandria Carthen, who walked Sergio Hudson's runway in cheetah-print separates. Amid a week of near-arctic temperatures in the city that never sleeps, New York Fashion Week brought vibrance and energy that kicked off Fashion Month with a bang. Strong Fall 2026 trends are emerging that represent a healthy mix of minimalism and maximalism, be it in silhouette, color, or detail.

From textured detailing to pops of cherry red, New York Fashion Week's Fall 2026 shows were both a celebration of creativity and a return to classic elements of fall/winter dressing. It was the perfect balance of playful yet timeless design flourishes.

Though American designers went full force with oversized shapes, light-catching crystals, and more, it was all juxtaposed with more practical roots. Everything to Know About the "Love Is Blind" Engagement Rings

If you're a fan of Netflix's "Love Is Blind," then you may be curious about the engagement rings, which are either chosen on set or brought in (Kyle Abrams presented his mom's ring to Shaina Hurley during US season two, for example).

Knowing that on "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette," the jewelry is entirely provided by Neil Lane, you have to wonder how much shopping the men on "LIB" could possibly be getting done outside of the pods while they're holed up from the outside world.

What's more, if you're looking closely, you may notice similarities in some of the women's engagement rings. In fact, in US season one, it appeared Lauren Speed, Jessica Batten, and Amber Pike wore identical rings following their proposals.

According to "LIB" production company, Kinetic Content, all the men are presented with dozens of rings to choose from (Netflix said that in seasons four and five, they were all courtesy of Bridal Rings Co.), unless they brought their own. "Whatever they choose, we pay for. Whatever we pay for, they keep, regardless of engagement ending," a Kinetic representative says. And even though you might recognize similar elements on some designs - like diamond carat size, band embellishment, and setting - no two styles are exactly the same.

Kinetic even shared that in US season two, the men proposing discussed their choices together, so the rings felt unique to each recipient. Of course, there are fans who believe the women should be able to choose their preferred style before heading into the pods. That became a major issue in US season two, when Mallory Zapata ended up with a silver ring picked by Salvador Perez, instead of her preferred choice of gold. Perhaps the producers will find a way for both contestants to join the ring-selection process in future seasons.

Renowned fashion psychologist Dr. Dawnn Karen, former professor at FIT, conducted a study on the power of red, surveying 115 people who were viewed differently based on their backgrounds and where on their body (or in their outfit) they wore the shade. While Dr. Karen didn't incorporate underwear specifically, she found the effect of red to be astounding, significantly impacting how passersby interpret someone's levels of promiscuity and attractiveness.

When asked about applying her findings to popular Valentine's Day lingerie colors - including red, pink, black, and white - Dr. Karen calls it a twofold street. "Wearing your underwear as an individual can have the same effects generating self-love as it can generating outwards love towards another," she says. I Tested the Viral Coach Kisslock Clutch That Sells Out in Minutes

As someone who works in New York City, I'm very particular about handbags. I've never been the stylish commuter who grabs a mini clutch and is off for a day of adventure from the office to dinner to cocktails. My work bag is essentially the equivalent of a car trunk for me so the more space, the better. That said, it's no surprise I gravitated to Coach's recent oversize bag offerings, particularly the Coach Large Kisslock Frame Bag ($695).

But obviously, it's not just about function. When I saw it on the runway, I immediately recognized the design inspiration: grandma's coin purse. Coach actually cites the vintage Cashin Carry as its muse, the 1969 handbag conceived by Bonnie Cashin, the brand's first lead designer. How innovative for Coach to reimagine that archival staple as an oversize It bag - I've never seen anything like it. I shared clips of the bag on TikTok and immediately the comment section was flooded with praise. It was clear Coach had yet another burgeoning viral handbag moment on their hands (viral is now an understatement: the bag sells out in a matter of minutes). While the teddy bear and dinosaur styles are also on my shopping list, the kisslock frame bag feels especially fun and versatile - and it comes in a bunch of bold and neutral colors.

I have to admit though, I had my reservations. The models carried the bag hoisted under their arms on the runway and it was all very cool and effortless but I'm sorry - I need to be on my phone, grabbing my wallet, pulling out my emotional support water bottle, applying my lip oil, taking my supplements, finishing my coffee, and something else I'm forgetting. A hands-free options is needed! Fortunately, Coach planned for that and more.

What I Like About the Coach Large Kisslock Frame Bag

The Coach Kisslock Frame bag is ludicrously capacious in the best way, to quote "Succession." In fact, after the fashion show, I switched to flats and was looking for a tote to carry my knee-high boots. Imagine my surprise when they actually fit in the Frame bag - that's how roomy it is.

To my delight, it does have a strap so if you don't feel like hoisting a huge bag under your arm, there's another option for carrying it hands free.

Winter dressing stresses me out. Don't get me wrong - I love cold-weather fashion. Cozy sweaters, layers, and plush textures are infinitely more fun than anything I wear in the heat. But winter coats and all the bundling that comes with them tend to push me over the edge. Unless I'm trekking through actual snow (rare), putting on a full coat just to get in the car feels unnecessarily chaotic. Adding a scarf into the mix only amplifies the overstimulation. I adore how they look, but wearing one "just because" sends me into a level of heat-induced distress that genuinely feels like something to unpack in therapy.

So when I found the coat that finally solves all of it - and happens to double as a great holiday gift for cold-weather dwellers - I knew I had to share. Enter the Calvin Klein Short Puffer Jacket ($140, originally $349).The built-in scarf is what sold me, and I'm unpacking why ahead.

What I Like About the Calvin Klein Short Puffer Jacket With Scarf

I'll be totally honest: I figured this jacket would be either a hit or a miss, and boy, was it the former. While I own other puffer coats that keep me warm, I've found that few of them are also stylish - and this one pulls it off like no other. It all comes down to the details. This puffer jacket has an adjustable drawstring hem that actually gives you shape instead of turning you into a living, breathing marshmallow. It also has a bomber-style collar that looks great on its own, but it's even better with the scarf, IMO, because it adds warmth and style.

And no, I'm not done talking about the scarf. What I love about the built-in design is that it doesn't need constant adjusting the way a separate scarf does, and it never feels heavy or claustrophobic. It's so much more comfortable for me than a traditional coat-and-scarf combo and feels completely seamless; the two pieces live together rather than separately, which saves me time and frustration. I also appreciate that the price point is far more accessible than other built-in-scarf styles I've seen. Case in point: I've eyed the Totême Scarf Jacket for ages, fully aware it's not in the cards for me right now. Conveniently, this one feels infinitely more practical for my blustery Midwest reality anyway. I don't need to go aspirationally high-end just to take my dog outside in subzero temps.

I'll be honest: I spent longer than I'd like to admit trying to find a real consideration before adding this jacket to your cart. What I landed on is that the jacket is water-resistant, not waterproof. It handled light snow during my photoshoot and will survive a quick drizzle, but it won't keep you fully dry in steady rain or slushy weather. That might seem obvious, but not everyone catches it because marketing language can be confusing.

Here's a quick waterproof vs. water-resistant 101: water-resistant fabric repels moisture on the surface, but it usually doesn't include the construction details needed for true storm protection, like fully sealed seams. The brand doesn't specify whether this jacket has sealed seams, so it's safest to assume it doesn't since it's labeled as water-resistant. And who do we have to thank for it? TikTok, of course. In a single scroll on the popular app, you might come across the piece multiple times, from those viral Miu Miu briefs to Aritzia's more affordable offerings. Slightly more flirty and risqué than the stomach pudge dress or the fisherman aesthetic, bloomer shorts (aka diaper shorts) have officially made it to the top of the sartorial food chain.

What Are Bloomer Shorts?

While the idea of bloomer shorts may seem new or daunting at first, they're far from groundbreaking. Similarly to most trends, the good ol' "everything is new again" concept applies here, as the fad dates back to 1850 when the silhouette was invented as a practical solution for women's health and comfort - eventually grabbing the attention of famed suffragette Amelia Bloomer. It wasn't long before she published her approval of them in her newspaper, "The Lily," advocating for women to have the freedom to wear what they want. They became controversial since they exposed women's ankles, though they were cut midi-length, directly challenging the gender norms of that time.

Fast-forward to present day, and bloomers are still a hot topic. Aritzia recently released a pair of gray micro-shorts that dominated TikTok because of the gathered hem that resembles a diaper.
