I usually really hate wrapping presents but at Christmas time, I the sight of all the pretty wrapping paper prints, ribbons, bows and of course, handmade gift tags keep me motivated to takeover the wrapping process from my husband!

The problem is that I'm a hoarder. I buy and covet all of these pretty little wrapping pleasures, and then I'm too afraid to "waste" them by using them. It's a sickness I know.

I first gave you all a glimpse of SuzyShoppe in August, when I posted a few ideas for wedding and other special event guest book alternatives (see post here). I really loved the one-of-a-kind 3D guest book designs and was intrigued. Just who is behind this fabulous shop and what makes them tick? Tell me a bit about your shop. How was it born and what’s with the name?
Hi! We are Jessica, Emily and Hakeem. We design and make 3D wedding guest books and personalized gifts. SuzyShoppe grew gradually when Emily and I (Jessica), and our sister Karen were all married within a span of 2.5 years. With each wedding, we sought to make a personal and unique keepsake that would remind us of the friends and family that helped to make our day so special. The pieces were so well received that we decided that we wanted to share our creations and thus SuzyShoppe was born. Suzy is the name of Emily’s ornery cat, who, at that time, was an energetic kitten.

Hakeem and I currently live in Chicago with our 22-month-old son Ben. I hand make all the pieces while Hakeem serves as the operations and marketing manager. Emily, who lives in California, helps with the creative process and media-related support.

What inspired you to start creating a line of personalized guest books?
I’ve always loved to draw and make things with my hands. There is a certain satisfaction of sitting down and making a functional piece of art using simple tools. After drawing a fingerprint tree for my own wedding, we thought up a similar piece but with a creative twist for Emily’s wedding. What finally emerged was an art piece we were very proud of – an innovation that we hoped would be a novel wedding guest book alternative for other couples.

Take us into your world: What does a typical work day look like for a designer like yourself?
Mornings typically start at 7:00 a.m. for us. We have breakfast and a mini-dance session and then Hakeem and Ben head off to the university and daycare and I get started answering emails and inquiries. Then, while NPR is streaming, I get to work creating the pieces that have been scheduled for the day. Once the pieces are completed, I head to the post office to drop off packages. After dinner, playtime, bath time and bedtime for Ben, I begin to prepare materials for orders I have lined up for the next day. Evenings are also a time to hang out as husband and wife, talk business and watch TV shows we are ashamedly hooked on. Our days are pretty standard and unexciting but we love doing what we do. =)

What inspires you when you’re designing?
We love timeless and unique art forms so we aspire to design quality pieces for the home that serve not only as a conversation piece but a lasting reminder of a happy day. Emily and I are also a bit obsessed with wedding blogs and so draw some inspiration from there. Hakeem adds practical business perspective as needed.

What is new for the winter season? Any new designs you're working on?
We always have some ideas brewing but, as perfectionists, we often need to make several prototypes before being satisfied enough to put a piece in our shop. We are currently in the process of refining some new designs and are hoping to be able to share them in our shop soon so check back with us often!

If you were stranded on a deserted Island, what is one item you couldn’t live without?
Jessica: iPhone videos of my family and friends that crack me up.
Emily: Either my husband or our dog. =)
Hakeem: It depends where the island is but most likely a tool of some sort!

This week's pins from Pinterest were all about fashion and hair styles I'm currently obsessed with. I've never been a fan of braids, but now that my kids are little and some days I have little time to devote to myself, braids have added some spice to my otherwise super dull ponytail.

Check out the fabulous baby pink sweater below tied with black ribbon. Think it's cute? Well guess what...it's a fashion DIY project that's super easy to do. ALRIGHT I haven't tried it yet but I'm going to!

Also, love the bright pink blazer paired with black leather pants and the huge black and gold chunky ring below. As Giuliana Rancic would say "Soooo amazeballs!"

Charmdesign was founded by Ranja Lee, a stay-at-home mom with two children. She was born in Japan. She started to sew in high school and studied at the Vantan Design Institute in Tokyo. After working at a children's clothing company as a clothing designer for several years in Tokyo, she moved to Los Angels in 1994, and studied Graphic Design at the California State of University Fullerton.

Ever since I stumbled on Charm Design's Etsy shop, I have loved loved loved her handmade pouches and clutches. I had the pleasure of interviewing Ranja about her successful accessory shop. Here's what she had to say about where she gets her inspiration from and what new designs she's currently working on.

How was your shop born?
I love handmade crafts and enjoy making bags and pouches too. So I decided one day that I should make my own shop. Why not? After all, I have studied graphic design and know how to make my own website!

I've been designing since I was in high school and my shop opened in 2006.

What inspires you when you're designing?
When I'm designing, the beautiful fabrics inspire me.

How would you describe your own personal style?
I would describe my style as colorful.

Any new designs you're working on for the holiday season?
The new designs I'm working on are the iPhone cases, tote bags, and some pouches.

What's your favourite fashion label?
My favorite fashion label is Anthropologie.

What are 5 things we don't know about you?
1. I am a Christian.
2. My favorite colors are green, yellow, blue, and purple.
3. I am half Korean and half Japanese.

I was so busy on Pinterest this past week that I totally neglected my blogs. Between Pinterest and Instagram I barely had time to blog, or take care of this kids (just kidding).

Weekly Round Up? A Saturday post? Yup that's right, I have a few minutes to spare (kids are sleeping woohoo) so I thought I'd share some of the items I had planned on blogging about this week, but didn't get to.

LOVE these shoes from Aldo. The description says "These pumps are made for hot evenings out in the city!" I must get me a pair.
This Ballerina Bakery Party theme for a baby shower is so cute, but would do for a little girls birthday party or maybe even just a fun girls night in sleepover (hey, you're never to old for some party time in your PJ's with some besties).

More About the Feather Trend

OK so you all remember how much I don't understand the "feather's in the hair" trend right? Well I also don't really get the feathered earring trend either but with every personal fashion rule, there's an exception. And I think I found an exception to my own fashion rule of banning feathers from my wardrobe.

I found these leather and feather earrings (dipped in gold I may add) from Etsy shop Love At First Blush and I fell in love. I'm not sure what I love more, the aquamarine colour paired with the gold dipped feather or, the gold and leather combo. Or maybe it's all the elements together that got me so intrigued.

I love infinity scarves but I know what all my friends are going to say: "Umm really girl? WHEN have you EVER worn an infinity scarf?"

OK I own only one, and I have never worn it (it's wool and very itchy) but every time I see it hung in my closet, I daydream about pairing it with the perfect pair of leggings, shirt and kick ass boots - the perfect Canadian girl's Fall outfit.

This past summer, my incredibly cute toddler was asked to be a ring boy in my cousins wedding and boy, did he look adorable in his little tux. OK so he refused to wear the tie and we had to wrestle him into the vest, but he looked pretty darn cute anyway and the flower girl was adorable in her little white dress and shoes.

It made me think, if I were getting married all over again I'd have a little flower girl just so I could accessorize her from head to toe in one of these cute finds from Etsy.

Based out of Memphis, Tennessee, DeNovoStyle's Etsy shop offers urban, elegant outerwear (think coats, jackets and cardigans and says:

I've always had an affinity for coats. Even at age seven I made coats (well, for my dog). Once formally trained in pattern making I realized ~ I could make whatever I wanted! Never being happy with the fit of coats in the store, always changing my purchases, it was exciting to be able to make one just the way I wanted from scratch. So I did. And it is still my best seller.

I'm so honoured. Earlier this week I found out that Deanna's Deals gave this blog a Liebster Award!

I had no idea what a Liebster Award was or why I had one the honour of receiving one, but after checking out Deanna's Deals, I found out the Liebster award is "for blogs that have 200 followers or less. The word 'Liebster' is German for kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, valued, cute, pleasant, endearing and welcome!"

OK so now that I have a baby girl, I am totally obsessed with little beanie hats and flowery headbands. Before Little Peanut was born, I bought a few hair clips, hats and headbands on total impulse, only to find out when she was born, that's she's way too tiny to wear them yet. But that's OK, she'll be one accessorized little babe once her noggin is big enough to fit the accessories she has accumulated.

I've been MIA for a few weeks because . . . I had a baby! A gorgeous little baby girl, we are so excited and totally smitten with her.

Although I'm totally exhausted from trying to get used to juggling two kids (mostly getting used to having a newborn again), I've been feeling the shopping bug ever since I saw a fall fashion show segment on CityLine.
