Because it was Game of Thrones, Season 7 was objectively entertaining. But it wasn't perfect. Far from it, in fact. Season 7 of Game of Thrones felt weird, and it wasn't just the presence of Ed Sheeran in Westeros. Over the course of six years, we have come to expect a level of quality out of the HBO hit unrivaled by virtually any other show. Those expectations didn't do the showrunners any favors, because it made the weird parts of Game of Thrones Season 7 all the more glaring.

Ed Sheeran's cameo actually is symbolic of the overarching issue that plagued Season 7: they abandoned their own formula. Despite being a fantastical world full of dragons and ice zombies, there has always been a sense of realism in Game of Thrones, carefully constructed over the past six seasons and responsible for ensnaring so many fans. Their grasp on that realism became tenuous in the penultimate season; let's hope they can recapture it in the eighth. Still, it behooves us to examine all the problems with Season 7 of Game of Thrones. 

If you're not familiar with Mormonism, you might not realize that there's a huge difference between FLDS and LDS. The LDS, or the Latter-Day Saints, comprise the vast majority of Mormons worldwide. While their conservative beliefs may be disquieting to some, they are light years away from the FLDS, or the Fundamentalist Church of Latter-Day Saints. Fundamentalist Mormons are a small splinter group who practice polygamy.

Aside from the fact that LDS members are not polygamous, there are a number of major differences between the two groups. For example, their leadership. FLDS leader Warren Jeffs is serving a life sentence for sexually assaulting minors among other things and the LDS leader Thomas Monson just turned 90. Another difference? The LDS supports interracial marriage, while the FLDS finds it to be unacceptable and is therefore labeled a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

The LDS church does not want to be confused with the cultish FLDS church for reasons that are quite clear once you dive into all the serious differences between them.

World War I was something unlike anything the world had ever seen – and in the aftermath of that war, soldiers suffered from an intense form of PTSD known then as shell shock, called such due to the relentless bombardment of artillery shells in the trenches. The International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine was founded by Loren Coleman, a cryptid enthusiast with a collection of myth and monster paraphernalia so large he decided to open a museum. Alcatraz Island is home to one of the most famous prisons in history. Alcatraz prison was a maximum-security – supposedly inescapable – fortress that operated from 1934 to 1963. It was supposed to be impenetrable; for this reason, it was known as "The Rock." Notorious gangster Al Capone was among its most famous inhabitants during its heyday. Alcatraz sat on an island in the middle of the San Francisco Bay, and a combination of the deathly chilly waters and strategically placed guard towers made it seem impossible to escape. In the 29 years it operated as a maximum-security prison, 36 inmates tried to escape 14 different times, and they were all either captured or died trying – almost.

Three men successfully made it out of their cells, but what happened to them afterward is still a mystery. Frank Lee Morris, John Anglin, and Clarence Anglin dug their way out of their cells in June 1962, and they were able to do so after cleverly constructing remarkably life-like dummies that they put in their beds to fool the night guards. It's amazing what a little ingenuity and a lot of papier-mâché can do for a person.

The history of the number zero stretches from early civilizations in the fertile crescent (now known as the Middle East) all the way into modern times.
