<p><strong>An ambient, minimalist EP from members of Balmorhea and Deaf Center.</strong></p>

<p>Ojas Music, the new label from Devon Turnbull&#8217;s audio, hi-fi and design company of the same name, has released its <a href="https://www.thevinylfactory.com/product/michael-a-muller-otto-a-totland-unna">first record</a> in partnership with The Vinyl Factory: <em>Unna</em>, an ambient, minimalist collaboration between Michael A. Muller &amp; Otto A. Totland.</p>

<p>Muller, co-founder of minimalist instrumental duo Balmorhea, has a long history of solo recordings, and film scoring, releasing on Deutsche Grammophon and collaborating with artists including Hania Rani, Alva Noto,&nbsp;Víkingur Ólafsson, The Album Leaf, and Douglas McCombs of Tortoise.</p>

<p>Totland is one half of the Norwegian experimental/ambient duo Deaf Center, whose seminal releases on Type Records and Sonic Pieces helped shape a generation of minimalist and ambient music. His solo piano trilogy, produced by Nils Frahm, received wide acclaim.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="687" src="https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/muller-totland-unna-vinyl-1024x687.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-459366" srcset="https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/muller-totland-unna-vinyl-1024x687.webp 1024w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/muller-totland-unna-vinyl-367x246.webp 367w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/muller-totland-unna-vinyl-768x516.webp 768w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/muller-totland-unna-vinyl-1536x1031.webp 1536w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/muller-totland-unna-vinyl-1467x985.webp 1467w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/muller-totland-unna-vinyl.webp 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><em>Unna</em> (Norwegian for “away”) operates as a double entendre: gesturing both to the physical distance between the two artists and to the inward pull of the creative flow state, where time recedes and attention deepens. The music pairs Totland’s close-miked, delicate piano with Muller’s contributions on double bass, glockenspiel, Mellotron, and Rhodes as a textural counterpoint.</p>

<p>Turnbull&#8217;s communal listening installation, <em><a href="https://www.180studios.com/listening-room">HiFi Listening Room Dream No. 1</a></em>, is a permanent fixture at 180 Studios, offering an audiophile space where each element has been carefully considered to create an environment that honours both the music and the listener.</p>

<p><em>Unna</em> is available now from <a href="https://www.thevinylfactory.com/product/michael-a-muller-otto-a-totland-unna">The Vinyl Factory</a> shop on 180g vinyl and is limited to 500 copies worldwide. Listen to &#8216;Rolig&#8217; via the visualiser above. </p>

<p><strong>The film&#8217;s soundtrack features original music by Klein and tracks from Robert Hood, Aphex Twin and Kelsey Lu. </strong></p>

<p>180 Studios has opened a new space dedicated to film called The Underground Cinema, which will celebrate the medium of film in all forms, from feature-length movies and music documentaries to artist commissions and collaborations.</p>

<p>The Underground Cinema launches on Friday 27 February with a <a href="https://www.180studios.com/underground-cinema">month-long theatrical residency</a> of Kahlil Joseph&#8217;s <em>BLKNWS: Terms &amp; Conditions</em>, a feature-length work adapted from his acclaimed video art installation, <em>BLKNWS</em>.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="819" height="1024" src="https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/blknews-terms-conditions-819x1024.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-459349" srcset="https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/blknews-terms-conditions-819x1024.webp 819w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/blknews-terms-conditions-240x300.webp 240w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/blknews-terms-conditions-768x960.webp 768w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/blknews-terms-conditions-788x985.webp 788w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/blknews-terms-conditions.webp 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px" /></figure>

<p><em>BLKNWS: Terms &amp; Conditions</em> mirrors the sonic textures of an album or mixtape, weaving fiction and history in an immersive journey where fictionalised figures of W. E. B. Du Bois and Marcus Garvey join artists, musicians, Joseph&#8217;s family, and even Twitter chats, in a vision for Black consciousness.</p>

<p>“<em>BLKNWS: Terms &amp; Conditions</em> is a film conceived with the fluidity and creativity of an album,” says Joseph. “This approach allowed me to think beyond traditional boundaries, embracing a process that seamlessly incorporates the contributions of other directors, artists, and collaborators. Poets, writers, editors, designers, musicians, scholars, and more have all left their mark on this project, enriching its texture and expanding its scope.”</p>

<p>The film features original music by Klein plus tracks from Robert Hood, Aphex Twin, Sampha, Kelsey Lu and Flying Lotus. Joseph has worked across the mediums of installation, music video and film throughout his career, directing videos for Kendrick Lamar, Sampha, Flying Lotus and Beyoncé.</p>

<p>180 Studios has collaborated with Joseph for a decade. His work featured in <em>The Infinite Mix</em> (2016) and <em>Reverb</em> (2024), and 180 Studios commissioned his 2018 film <em>Fly Paper</em>.</p>

<p><em>BLKNWS: Terms &amp; Conditions</em> runs from 27 February to 27 March 2026. Tickets are available from the <a href="https://www.180studios.com/underground-cinema">180 Studios</a> website.</p>

<p><strong>The immersive new work, commissioned by 180 Studios, expands on ideas explored in his acclaimed&nbsp;<em>data-verse</em>&nbsp;project.</strong></p>

<p>Ryoji Ikeda&#8217;s new installation, showing now at 180 Studios, has been extended until 1 February, 2026, due to popular demand. Tickets are available now from the <a href="https://www.180studios.com/data-cosm">180 Studios</a> website.</p>

<p>Commissioned by 180 Studios, <em>data-cosm [n°1]</em> is described as “a total sensory encounter that transforms vast datasets into an immersive audiovisual environment, exploring the intersection of art and physics on an unprecedented scale.”</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="684" src="https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/ryoji-ikeda-data-cosm-1-1024x684.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-459326" srcset="https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/ryoji-ikeda-data-cosm-1-1024x684.webp 1024w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/ryoji-ikeda-data-cosm-1-367x245.webp 367w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/ryoji-ikeda-data-cosm-1-768x513.webp 768w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/ryoji-ikeda-data-cosm-1-1536x1026.webp 1536w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/ryoji-ikeda-data-cosm-1-1474x985.webp 1474w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/ryoji-ikeda-data-cosm-1.webp 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The installation, which invites visitors to lie down beneath a vast LED ceiling while being enveloped by Ikeda’s soundscapes, “charts the full spectrum of data in nature – from the microscopic world of particle physics to the macroscopic scale of astrophysics.”</p>

<p>Ikeda’s new work expands on ideas first explored in his <a href="https://www.factmag.com/2021/05/20/ryoji-ikeda-presents-data-verse/">acclaimed <em>data-verse</em> project</a>, and is running alongside <a href="https://www.180studios.com/paradigm-shift">Paradigm Shift</a>, an exhibition exploring revolutions in moving image culture from artists including Mark Leckey, Arthur Jafa, Derek Jarman, JulianKnxx, Martine Syms and Andy Warhol.</p>

<p>Commissioned by 180 Studios, <em>data-cosm [n°1]</em> is described as &#8220;a total sensory encounter that transforms vast datasets into an immersive audiovisual environment, exploring the intersection of art and physics on an unprecedented scale.&#8221;</p>

<p>The installation, which invites visitors to lie down beneath a vast LED ceiling while being enveloped by Ikeda’s soundscapes, &#8220;charts the full spectrum of data in nature &#8211; from the microscopic world of particle physics to the macroscopic scale of astrophysics.&#8221;</p>

<p>Ikeda&#8217;s new work expands on ideas first explored in his <a href="https://www.factmag.com/2021/05/20/ryoji-ikeda-presents-data-verse/">acclaimed <em>data-verse</em> project</a>, and runs at 180 Studios until 21 December, 2015.</p>

<p><em>data-cosm [n°1]</em> continues a long history of collaboration with 180 Studios and The Vinyl Factory, which began with the premiere of Ikeda’s audio-visual installation <em>supersymmetry</em> at Brewer Street Car Park in Soho, London. In 2021, 180 Studios hosted the largest <a href="https://www.factmag.com/category/http:/fact-residency-ryoji-ikeda/">exhibition</a> of Ikeda&#8217;s work to date, featuring large-scale installations and data-driven work from across his career.</p>

<p><em>data-cosm [n°1]</em> runs from 15 October to 21 December, 2025. Tickets for the exhibition are available now from the <a href="https://www.180studios.com/data-cosm">180 Studios</a> website.</p>

<p><strong>The exhibition draws from avant-garde cinema, TV, music video, performance, fashion, gaming and internet culture.</strong></p>

<p>Works by Mark Leckey, Andy Warhol and Nan Goldin all feature as part of <em>Paradigm Shift</em>, a major new exhibition about moving image culture opening at London&#8217;s 180 Studios on Wednesday, 15 October 2025. Tickets are available now from the <a href="https://www.180studios.com/paradigm-shift">180 Studios</a> website.</p>

<p>The exhibition will see 180 Studios&#8217; vast subterranean spaces transformed to present a selection of acclaimed moving image works from the 1970s to the present day, drawing from avant-garde cinema, TV, music video, performance, fashion, gaming and internet culture.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="577" src="https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ryan-trecartin-i-be-area-1024x577.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-459287" srcset="https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ryan-trecartin-i-be-area-1024x577.webp 1024w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ryan-trecartin-i-be-area-367x207.webp 367w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ryan-trecartin-i-be-area-768x432.webp 768w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ryan-trecartin-i-be-area-1536x865.webp 1536w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ryan-trecartin-i-be-area-1560x878.webp 1560w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ryan-trecartin-i-be-area.webp 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Curated by Mark Wadhwa and <em>Dazed</em> co-founder and CEO Jefferson Hack, the exhibition features works by Sophia Al-Maria, Meriem Bennani, Dara Birnbaum, Foday Dumbuya, Cao Fei, Tremaine Emory, Nan Goldin, Arthur Jafa, Derek Jarman, Julianknxx, Andy Warhol, Josèfa Ntjam, Pipilotti Rist, Martine Syms, TELFAR, Ryan Trecartin, Gillian Wearing and Mark Leckey, who is represented by his 1999 classic <em>Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore</em> (embedded at the top of the page).</p>

<p><em>Paradigm Shift</em> traces multiple revolutions within moving image culture through several new works commissioned by 180 Studios, which sit alongside iconic historical works that offer a view of paradigms shifted by artists who rebelled against the status quo using the technologies available to them at the time for both realisation and distribution of their vision.</p>

<p>Jefferson Hack says: “From the Super 8 and VHS revolutions of the 1970s and &#8217;80s to the digital hyper connectivity of our present moment, video art and moving image have always operated at a crossroads: high and low, visceral and conceptual, personal and political. In <em>Paradigm Shift</em>, we see how great artists inspire us to engage with storytelling through screens differently: for us to feel more, imagine more and recover our senses.”</p>

<p><em>Paradigm Shift</em> runs until 1 February, 2026. Tickets for the exhibition are available now from the <a href="https://www.180studios.com/paradigm-shift">180 Studios</a> website.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/GabrielMosesEdit_29-1024x683.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-459231" srcset="https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/GabrielMosesEdit_29-1024x683.webp 1024w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/GabrielMosesEdit_29-367x245.webp 367w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/GabrielMosesEdit_29-768x512.webp 768w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/GabrielMosesEdit_29-1536x1024.webp 1536w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/GabrielMosesEdit_29-1478x985.webp 1478w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/GabrielMosesEdit_29.webp 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Taking over two floors of 180 Studios, <em>Selah</em> also features new work from Moses, including an exclusive new series of photographs and the premiere of a new short film, <em>The Last Hour</em>. The acted-out short film was shot in Atlanta, Georgia, and follows one man&#8217;s journey to finding solace in solitude whilst in pursuit of redemption. The film was commissioned by 180 Studios and executive produced by Division and Goat. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Born in South London, Moses’ practice is deeply rooted in his British-Nigerian heritage. Characterised by a rich colour palette and minimal contextual detail, he produces emotive, soulful images which reflect on personal history, cultural signifiers, and memory. His work is often a tribute to the women who have shaped him, especially his grandmother, mother, and sister, who introduced him to art and fashion. &nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>The artist and choreographer discusses <em>Shelly Belly Inna Real Life</em>, shot in Jamaica between 2015 and 2019 and showing until 2 March, 2025 at 180 Studios.</strong></p>

<p>In a new interview, Argentinian artist, choreographer, and dancer Cecilia Bengolea details the experience of making&nbsp;<em>Shelly Belly Inna Real</em>&nbsp;Life, her video installation for <em><a href="https://www.180studios.com/reverb#tickets">The Vinyl Factory: Reverb</a></em> exhibition.</p>

<p>Exploring the world of dancehall – a genre and form of dance originating in Jamaica – Bengolea’s&nbsp;<em>Shelly Belly Inna Real Life</em>&nbsp;grants an intimate view of the communities and individuals that keep the scene going. Accompanying dancehall icon Shelly Belly, Bengolea explores the choreography and social context of dancehall’s participants and the wider culture around them.</p>

<p>In this interview, Bengolea discusses her connection with dancehall, the relationship between the Jamaican police and dance and the wider world of street dance.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/180-Studios_Reverb_Cecilia-Bengolea_1-1024x768.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-459142" srcset="https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/180-Studios_Reverb_Cecilia-Bengolea_1-1024x768.webp 1024w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/180-Studios_Reverb_Cecilia-Bengolea_1-367x275.webp 367w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/180-Studios_Reverb_Cecilia-Bengolea_1-768x576.webp 768w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/180-Studios_Reverb_Cecilia-Bengolea_1-1536x1152.webp 1536w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/180-Studios_Reverb_Cecilia-Bengolea_1-1314x985.webp 1314w, https://factmag-images.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/180-Studios_Reverb_Cecilia-Bengolea_1.webp 1955w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><em>Shelly Belly Inna Real Life</em>&nbsp;isn’t Bengolea’s first brush with Shelly Belly or The Vinyl Factory. In 2016, Bengolea and her collaborative partner Jeremy Deller teamed up with The Vinyl Factory to create&nbsp;<em><a href="https://www.factmag.com/2020/07/01/cecilia-bengolea-presents-bom-boms-dream/">Bom Bom’s Dream</a>&nbsp;</em>for <em>The Infinite Mix</em> exhibition.</p>

<p>Following the adventures of a Japanese dancer known as Bom Bom,&nbsp;<em>Bom Bom’s Dream</em>&nbsp;similarly engaged the dancehall and featured Shelly Belly in a starring role.</p>
