Mere moments after the furniture was loaded, the buyer backed out of their original deal, lying to try and get themselves a 50% discount. After the ensuing altercation, the seller dashed online to Reddit to see where the communication unraveled, revealing a not-so-uncommon swindler's technique that he was able to cleverly avoid.

Turns out, being skeptical of the random strangers flocking to your door to get some used furniture was a good idea.

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45571333/marketplace-shopper-pretends-they-dont-have-enough-cash-to-pay-full-price-but-the-seller-cleverly" /><a10:updated>2026-06-03T13:00:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Remy Millisky</a10:name></a10:author>

Community Cleanup Leader Refuses to Sign Off on Teen Boy's 4-hour Volunteer Shift: 'His mom said I was humiliating him in public '

Does this community clean-up leader have a good reason for refusing to sign off on a teen boy's certifications?

No matter where you live, from the big cities to the rural grasslands, you're bound to have areas of your community that accumulate litter.

Food wrappers, bottles and cans, abandoned furniture, and random scraps of clothing seem to just appear out of nowhere. While there's nothing wrong with sharing your hobby with your friends at work, forcibly handing out business cards with your podcast's QR code on it isn't the way to cultivate a devoted listening audience; that's a good way to get iced out.

After putting up with her insistent demands to listen to her podcast and enduring the ridicule over his failure to follow up, this man decided he wouldn't fall victim to her pressure anymore, deciding instead to ignore her completely, not just her podcast.

Funnily enough, this seems like the only way to handle podcasters these days. If they don't shut up on their own volition, it's time the audience members turn down the volume on their end, muting their overtly pushy opinions and thwarting any attempts to redirect their attentions. Because at the end of the day, we only have so much bandwidth for our hobbies, why absorb the fallout for someone else's audio failures on your free time?

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45571077/office-worker-ices-out-his-coworker-dana-when-she-tries-to-force-her-true-crime-podcast-onto" /><a10:updated>2026-06-03T11:30:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Elna McHilderson</a10:name></a10:author>

Employee catches supervisor trying to ‘bend the rules’ to get a higher bonus, sends polite email back ‘playing along’ and forces him to fess up: ‘[He] messed up so bad…’

Have you used kindness to get a point across? It can be very effective.

We highly recommend it. In fact, that should always be your first route. Kindness is what makes the world go round. That being said, sometimes kindness isn't working, and then you have to switch to a different kind of kindness… The one that's a little more feisty and petty, but in the long run, you are kindly teaching them a lesson that needs to be learned.

This employee decided to be both kind and feisty. He knew what he was doing was calling out this incompetent, shady supervisor and his salesman, but it had to be done. He was sick of this manager trying to pull one over on everybody, including the customer, to try to get a higher bonus. So this employee, very kindly, looped all the higher-ups in on their email and asked him if the issues he lied about… erm, I mean, explained were something they could solve together. It doesn't even have to be people who talk loudly, or people who stomp their feet until it sounds like they are tap dancing up there… Even the little, everyday things that your neighbor does can turn out to be really loud and annoying to the residents around them, including you.

For example, my apartment is directly below an 85-year-old man who lives alone. Every day, he turns on his TV at 6:00 AM and keeps it on until 11:00 PM at night. Theoretically, having his TV on is his right, and it shouldn't bother someone who lives a whole floor below him. However, since this guy is quite old, he can't hear very well, so he sets the volume of his TV to be so loud that you can hear it from 5 floors down, including my bedroom, and everyone who lives around him has to suffer.

I've obviously knocked on his door a few times and asked him to turn the volume down, but every morning, it's the same old story, and I have simply accepted my fate.

It seems like the neighbors in this story, shared on a Reddit community, are not willing to accept their fate as I do. They claim that their upstairs neighbor's dishwasher is too loud for them, so they keep leaving sticky notes on their front door demanding to mind the hours the dishwasher is on. According to them, any time past 9:00 PM is too late, even by just a few minutes.

As much as I understand the struggle of a neighbor with a loud facility, I'm not sure if I support these neighbors' actions, and it seems like the upstairs resident has also had enough of their demands.

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45554949/downstairs-neighbor-keeps-leaving-sticky-notes-on-residents-door-to-complain-about-their-dishwasher" /><a10:updated>2026-06-03T10:00:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Inés Soubrie</a10:name></a10:author>

Woman buys $250 tickets to her sister's favorite band, sister secretly offers her seat to a friend who can't afford to go, backs out last minute and expects sister to take her friend along: ‘She would also need a ride and someone to pay for her food’

Imagine planning a thoughtful date night with your sister, surprising her with concert tickets, only to find out she passed on the gift to someone you don't even like.

When somebody buys you concert tickets to your favorite band, there are generally a few acceptable responses. You can say thank you. You can get excited. You can immediately start counting down the days until the show. What you probably shouldn't do is give the ticket away to somebody else and then volunteer the person who bought it to fund the rest of the trip. Yet somehow that's exactly what happened here.

The story starts with a woman spending roughly $250 on tickets for herself and her sister to see the sister's favorite band. This wasn't some random event. She specifically bought the tickets because she knew how much her sister loved the group and wanted to share the experience with her. She even had a backup plan in mind: if her sister couldn't go, her long-term boyfriend would take the extra seat.

Simple. Reasonable. End of story. Except it wasn't. Things took a turn when the woman's sister apparently decided that the ticket no longer belonged to the person who purchased it. Instead, she offered "her" seat to her friend Missy, a person the ticket buyer actively dislikes and has repeatedly said she doesn't want around.

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45569285/woman-buys-250-tickets-to-her-sisters-favorite-band-sister-secretly-offers-her-seat-to-a-friend-who" /><a10:updated>2026-06-03T09:00:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Remy Millisky</a10:name></a10:author>

Wife Refuses to Make Firefighter Husband Breakfast After He Dismisses Her Homemade Meals: '[He] took one bite...and threw it all away'

Why does this firefighter keep throwing away the meals his wife is making him?

Some people don't appreciate the good things in life until they're gone.

It's a lovely privilege to have a spouse who cooks you delicious meals. Not everyone is a good cook to begin with… We all know someone who oversalts their food, or burns it to a crisp, or serves up their chicken while it's still pink in the middle. But those who are good cooks can find it incredibly satisfying to make meals for their loved ones. Imagine how nice it would be to come home from a long day's work to find that your spouse has prepared a delicious dinner for you.

And wouldn't it be so great to start out your day with a fresh breakfast? No need to pop a frozen sandwich into the microwave if your wife has prepared you homemade buttermilk pancakes, an apple turnover, and eggs. Right? Isn't that what we'd all prefer?

Well… not this guy. What classes would have been our favorites, what house we would have been sorted into, and what position in Quidditch we would have played? There are so many things to consider, and while we can get some of our answers with the help of video games like Hogwarts Legacy or by simply walking through Harry Potter World at Universal Studios, it's not exactly the same as living it.

While there are many options and magical scenarios to explore as students, we never really asked ourselves what it would have been like to be a teacher at the magical school.

Fans have always wondered whether or not Hogwarts professors have any family or if their entire lives revolve around teaching 11-year-olds how to make a quill fly. But either way, life as a teacher at the school sounds pretty interesting, and as full-grown adults at this point, we are probably more likely to end up there as teachers than as students, so we might as well start imagining what it would be like. What subject would you teach? What kind of homework would you give? What house would you cheer for during the Quidditch match? The possibilities are endless…

Our biggest hope is to be the kind of professor who inspires the students to actually learn. Even at regular school, these types of teachers are hard to come by, so at Hogwarts, having an inspiring teacher is even more important. We know from Harry himself how much love he had for some professors, and how affected he was by those who didn't inspire him to learn.

While all of these questions and answers remain hypothetical, we know that they will live on as long as fans of the magical world are out there, just like how these hilarious Harry Potter memes will never stop making us laugh!

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45551621/the-most-magical-harry-potter-memes-to-enjoy-on-an-express-train-ride-to-hogwarts" /><a10:updated>2026-06-03T07:30:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Etai Eshet</a10:name></a10:author>

Worker refuses to help her colleague, Melinda, with a project after Melinda left her to handle a two-person job alone while sick, giving her a taste of her own medicine

A woman who spent a public holiday sick, voiceless, and doing a two-person job by herself has recently discovered that her coworker Melinda's team spirit has a very specific on-and-off switch depending on whose deadline it is.

Workplace mutuality is one of those things everyone agrees on in theory, and then certain people quietly opt out of it the moment it becomes inconvenient for them personally.

We've all seen this type of thing go down before, whether on our expense or on someone else's. One person keeps showing up, filling the gaps, covering the slack, and convincing themselves that the other person is just going through something or did not realize or whatever excuse makes the situation easier to live with. Then a genuine emergency arrives and the excuse machine finally runs out of material. Being sick, voiceless, and medicated while doing a two-person job alone is not a vibe check. That is a very clear message from your coworker about where you actually stand when things get hard.

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45564933/worker-refuses-to-help-her-colleague-melinda-with-a-project-after-melinda-left-her-to-handle-a-two" /><a10:updated>2026-06-03T06:45:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Ben Weiss</a10:name></a10:author>

Florida HOA Bans Contractor From Community Before Finishing Homeowner’s Roof Project, Homeowner Seeks Legal Action

Who is to blame here: the homeowner, the contractor, or the HOA itself?

In most circumstances involving miscommunications between homeowner's associations and the residents of their respective communities, we tend to side in favor of the residents. Automation has proved itself to be an amazing cutting-edge tool, and knowing how to automate tasks on a computer is currently the holy grail of useful skills, but we are, at the same time, only beginning to see its downsides. For example, the Redditor who shared this story could potentially extinguish the job of an entire department if he shared his hack, so he wouldn't only have to deal with the loss of his own job but also with the responsibility of getting all his teammates laid off.

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45529093/employee-finishes-his-real-work-by-10-in-the-morning-and-spends-the-rest-of-his-day-pretending-to-be" /><a10:updated>2026-06-03T04:15:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Olivia Arocena</a10:name></a10:author>

Entitled Karen refuses to accept muffin that has been microwaved, says she doesn't care, employee serves her a rock-hard frozen muffin: ‘It was cold as ice, hard as a rock, and you couldn't even peel the paper wrapper off, it was all frozen together'

Would you dare to serve a frozen muffin to an already livid customer?

Some people are well known for making themselves heard when it comes to all sorts of peculiar demands. Many older siblings are happy to help out occasionally, whether that means babysitting for an evening or lending a hand during emergencies. Suddenly, weekends, holidays, and personal plans begin disappearing under the assumption that you'll always be available.

That frustration tends to grow when parents don't seem interested in exploring any alternatives. Depending on which way you slice it, AI can be equal parts terrifying and intriguing. And even if its implementation is going to result in deforestation plans and corn field leveling for the next big data center, the AI train is not going to stop; employees just have to figure out how to hop the rails and hold on tight!

It seems like every office executive is obsessed with AI these days. As if they're overhyping their AI girlfriend or falling in love with their Siri assistant like Joaquin Phoenix's character in Her, C-level bosses simply loooove to rave about their AI escapades. For those of us who are chronically online and have been mainlined into the Internet system since we were 10 years old, AI isn't actually anything that new; it's been around for decades, and the CEOs are just now discovering it.

Obsessing over AI isn't getting the C-levels anywhere, but for the employees whose careers are potentially on the chopping block because of an unfinished AI tool, it all feels a bit scary to wonder how we're going to be whiplashed next. Luckily, there are very few these days who are lucky enough to remain in the same career field for their entire lives, so for the bulk of the workforce, the AI craze is just going to result in a premature pivot.

Like the Friend's episode where they bicker at each other to try and get a couch up the fire escape stairs, we need to put our heads together and get the job done, my fellow employees. Just like Ross and Joey forcing a sectional up a flight of stairs, we need to pivot, PIVOT.

Ironically, the jobs most easily replaced by the current AI modules are filled by those who are making calls about mass firings. So the next time your CEO babbles on about ChatGPT or Claude without understanding that their job could be next, be sure to remind them that a C-level executives job is actually the most highly replaceable position… Wouldn't that be interesting to note?

Until then, check out this list of workers who are anticipating a big change for the future, hoping to find solace on Reddit's r/careerguidance forum in the process.

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45571589/the-hype-is-way-overblown-15-employees-quietly-changing-their-career-plans-because-of-ai" /><a10:updated>2026-06-02T13:00:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Remy Millisky</a10:name></a10:author>

Caring Arkansas restaurant owner implements "heat wave hours" to help kitchen staff: 'I'd love to work for that person'

Is this kitchen promoting a common-sense idea, or is it too far-fetched?

Summertime is an excellent time to get outdoors and enjoy the sun, work on your tan, and spend time exploring with your friends.

But when all the fun and games are over, it's time to return to work. Most employed candidates have to balance interviews around existing responsibilities, which is why a little scheduling flexibility is generally considered normal. Recruiters and hiring managers deal with this every day. That is why people tend to get suspicious when a simple request to move a meeting suddenly becomes a conversation about commitment, dedication, or proving how badly someone wants the job.

For many workers, one of the biggest advantages of the interview process is getting a glimpse into company culture before accepting an offer. The questions employers ask, the way they communicate, and how they handle reasonable requests can reveal a lot about what daily life might look like after getting hired. Sometimes the interview itself ends up being the strongest warning sign a candidate could possibly receive.

Stories like this resonate because many employees have encountered workplaces that expect personal sacrifices to be treated as signs of passion. Whether it is working late, answering messages after hours, or putting work ahead of existing commitments, some companies blur the line between dedication and unhealthy expectations. Job seekers are becoming increasingly aware of those dynamics and are more willing to walk away when something feels off.

The discussion also highlights a growing shift in workplace attitudes. More employees are questioning the idea that professionalism means being endlessly available or proving commitment through inconvenience. While employers want enthusiastic candidates, many workers believe mutual respect should start long before the first day on the job. After all, if a company struggles with reasonable boundaries during the hiring process, people naturally wonder what happens after they are on the payroll.

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45545221/candidate-asks-to-reschedule-final-interview-hiring-managers-response-raises-immediate-red-flags-we" /><a10:updated>2026-06-02T10:00:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Remy Millisky</a10:name></a10:author>

Teacher refuses to teach husband's 13-year-old niece after she repeatedly misses class, family blames her: 'I'm expected to compensate.'

Should this teacher go easy on her husband's 13-year-old niece after a string of cancelled classes and missed payments?

Mixing work and family is a risky move, as this teacher is just now finding out.

Who doesn't love a family discount? It's as if, after the server knows you're done ordering more food, they no longer care about the dining experience and have no problem leaving you to dry as you wait for your opportunity to pay and leave.

In most cases, we have no choice but to wait until the server finally remembers our 100th request for the check and allows us to pay and leave, as we are not actually about to dine and dash out of the establishment. But for some people, waiting is not an option.

First responders, such as the doctor who shared this story in Reddit's r/amiwrong community, often find themselves leaving in a hurry after they get called in for an emergency. Since that tends to happen a lot, most of them know how to quickly sort their business before leaving, or at the very least explain the situation and promise to be back with the payment. When that happened to this doctor as they were dining in a restaurant, they quickly asked for the check, but were surprised to find their server blatantly ignoring their request and claiming, "I'll get to you when I get to you."

This left the doctor no choice but to leave without paying, instead leaving a note with their phone number and asking the establishment to reach out in order to arrange the payment. Later, when the manager called, the doctor explained the situation, and the understanding manager gave them the meal for free. Then the doctor found out that the one who ended up paying the bill was the server who refused to hand them the check in the first place…

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45541125/doctor-on-call-forced-to-dine-and-dash-after-server-refuses-to-give-her-the-check-leading-restaurant" /><a10:updated>2026-06-02T07:30:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Ben Weiss</a10:name></a10:author>

California-based ex-boss forces former employee to sign NDA 3 months after layoffs: 'I genuinely don't know what triggered this'

Something suspicious is definitely afoot at this company.

This California-based online user, who posts under the name Vijinner, recently became unemployed after his company issued a series of layoffs. Once the day turns chaotic and half the school has dumped their things into one heap, anything unclaimed stops being a cute little mix-up and becomes a guessing game with expensive consequences. The policy exists for a reason. If you hand over a pricey item to the first adult who sounds confident enough, you are not solving a problem. This developer had been looking for a new job opportunity for a while now and was sick and tired of having to carve out significant portions of his free time outside of work, doing assignments for future employers that they should already know and trust he was capable of completing.

He shared his new strategy for dealing with this phenomenon with the r/interviewhammer subreddit community. That strategy consisted of charging employers a flat fee any time they asked him to complete assignments that he knew would take longer than three hours to finish. Believe it or not, he actually saw results from this strategy.

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45503749/job-candidate-charges-hiring-manager-500-fee-in-exchange-for-completing-their-take-home-assignment-i" /><a10:updated>2026-06-01T11:30:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Bar Mor Hazut</a10:name></a10:author>

Manager bans employees from sitting on chairs while working, leading employees to constantly take “fatigue breaks” as issued by the handbook: ‘Chairs came back the next Monday’

Have you ever walked into a retail store and thought to yourself, "How dare these employees sit down while they work?"

Neither did we. We honestly don't care if the person scanning our items in the supermarket is standing or sitting down; it truly doesn't say anything about their work ethic or the business. Actually, the opposite is true. If we go into a store and there is no chair in sight behind the register, we will probably judge the business owner, who, without a doubt, is the one behind the lack of chairs.

Why are business owners or even managers so against letting their customer-facing employees sit down? What is it about sitting down that they deem unprofessional? Every other desk job comes with a chair, and surely the managers themselves allow themselves to sit during their own shifts, so why can't those who run the register sit down while they endlessly scan items?

When the employee shared their story in Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance Subreddit, those who read the story asked themselves the same questions. But to the credit of the employees in the story, they were not willing to let their new manager get away with his "no chairs" rule. When this guy first came into the store, talking about "professional appearance" and his new rule of removing the stools from the registers, the employees knew they had to act.

So, they did the one thing employees should always do when a new rule is brought to action: they turned to the company handbook. There, there was a policy stating that employees can take short recovery breaks if they experience any physical fatigue that affects their performance or safety. Suddenly, any employee who stood in front of the register for longer than 15 minutes called for a fatigue break and wandered off to the break room. It wasn't long before this new phenomenon alerted HR, and the chairs returned to their rightful place…

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45546245/manager-bans-employees-from-sitting-on-chairs-while-working-leading-employees-to-constantly-take" /><a10:updated>2026-06-01T10:45:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Celeste Mello</a10:name></a10:author>

Wife pushes husband to shorten his parents' month-long visits or get an Airbnb after years of handling the hosting alone: '[He] historically does not take PTO while they visit'

When having your in-laws stay at home, your household routines change, and your privacy can disappear. When you work in a corporate environment, you have to play the corporate game, which means that you have to notice what you say to people and how you say it. You can't just say everything that's on your mind.

However, once you leave a job, you have a rare opportunity to be as honest as possible without any repercussions. Not only that, once you don't owe these people anything, there is not a single reason for you to comply with their demands or answer their questions. You can simply tell them to 'kick rocks' and call it a day.

Take the employee who shared their story below with an online community. Yesterday was their last day at the job, and up until then, they tried to ensure they left on good terms with everyone. They made a careful plan during their last month to wrap up everything they were working on and even trained 4 other people on the work they were doing. This employee truly did everything in their power to ensure their colleagues and boss had all the tools they needed for the job before their last day at work.

It wasn't enough. After their last day, the former colleagues and boss kept calling and emailing this employee with questions and demands. They needed this file, wanted to know about that case, and even asked the former employee, who understandably refused, to come in for additional training.

Yet they kept calling and asking, until the former employee saw no other solution but to block everyone they used to work with. Should that be the solution? While some bridal parties are happy to participate, others find themselves trying to balance friendship, finances, and real-world responsibilities. For many people, a wedding celebration is supposed to create memories, not financial stress.

A story shared by Reddit user @mosquitojenkins in the r/weddingshaming community struck a nerve with readers for exactly that reason. The poster explained that her best friend's four-day bachelorette trip would cost at least $1,000 per person, an expense she simply could not justify after recent car repairs, moving costs, and other financial obligations had drained her savings.

The situation became even more complicated because the bride had allegedly already ended a decade-long friendship with another member of the bridal party who could not attend. According to the story, that friend was a stay-at-home mother struggling with childcare and financial constraints. For many readers, that detail shifted the conversation away from wedding planning and toward expectations within long-term friendships.

The discussion quickly expanded into a broader debate about modern wedding culture and whether expensive pre-wedding events have gotten out of control. Many commenters argued that close friendships should be able to survive reasonable financial boundaries, while others questioned why destination bachelorette trips have become such a common expectation. Either way, the story sparked plenty of strong opinions about money, loyalty, and friendship.

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45523461/bride-expects-longtime-friends-to-spend-1000-on-four-day-bachelorette-getaway-cuts-off-those-who" /><a10:updated>2026-06-01T07:30:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Etai Eshet</a10:name></a10:author>

Woman stops caving to her coworker’s 4-year-old’s hide-and-seek demands after weeks of guilt, finally refuses the kid’s interruptions

A four-year-old who responds to the word "no" with a detailed counterproposal is either going to be a lawyer or a hostage negotiator, and either way, she is absolutely not your problem to manage

Kids that age push because pushing works. It has always worked. It works on parents, it works on grandparents, it works on anyone who would rather fold than sit with the discomfort of a disappointed child staring at them. The hide-and-seek compromise pitch is honestly impressive. Just one round. Just for each of us. It reframes your no as the unreasonable position and your eventual yes as the sensible resolution to an unnecessarily tense situation. She did not invent this tactic. She just discovered it works really well on people who feel guilty about things that are not their fault.

Now I have to admit this story got me angry before I even got to the details, because what do you even mean you have to deal with someone else's kid at work? Stay with me here, I, of course, love each and every coworker of mine (Hey guys! How are ya? Love you. mwah!), But some people (not me, I swear, you guys) can't stand some of the people they have to share air with 8 hours a day to be able to pay rent. They say you can't choose family, but what's even more true is you can't choose who you work with. Anyway, if one of these delightful human beings would bring another human into this world, then have the audacity to also bring them to the office!? Cmon!

Kids are a joy most of the time, especially when they're your own or if they're family, but a coworker's kid? Interrupting work!? That's just too much dude.

Then I got to the details, and coworker Mom actually sounds pretty reasonable, but that was too late for my quick-to-conclusions nerves. One post from Reddit user @Millennium_Pi especially caught people's attention after describing a four-round interview process that included a brutal, unpaid assignment, only for the company to suddenly claim the role had been frozen after weeks of interviews and encouragement.

Part of what made @Millennium_Pi's experience resonate so strongly with readers in r/jobsearchhacks was the amount of unpaid effort involved. Modern job seekers are increasingly expected to complete take-home projects, presentations, personality tests, and multiple interview rounds before even knowing whether a company is seriously hiring. After months of job searching, discovering that a role may have simply been reposted over and over again can feel less like rejection and more like being professionally scammed.

The growing discussion around ghost jobs has also highlighted how disconnected online hiring has become from real human experiences. Some companies allegedly keep positions active to collect resumes, appear successful to investors, or prepare for future openings that may never happen. Meanwhile, applicants are left spending entire weeks emotionally invested in opportunities that disappear the moment interviews end, creating even more distrust toward already exhausting hiring systems.

At this point, many online job hunters have become deeply suspicious of companies that repeatedly repost identical listings every few weeks without ever seeming to hire anyone. Stories like the one shared continue fueling broader conversations about transparency, unpaid interview labor, and whether modern hiring practices are quietly becoming one giant test of emotional endurance instead of an actual search for employees.

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45508357/job-seeker-spends-weeks-on-interviews-and-unpaid-assignment-before-realizing-the-tech-job-they" /><a10:updated>2026-05-31T14:15:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Bar Mor Hazut</a10:name></a10:author>

Couple accuses neighbors of listening to their arguments after couple decides to yell at each other outside for the entire neighborhood to hear: 'These nosy neighbors'

If you don't want people to hear you arguing, maybe do it somewhere… private?

Feeling safe to do whatever you want in your own home is not a crazy concept. You should feel safe in your own space, and you should let your guard down and allow yourself to feel whatever it is you're feeling at the moment without being ashamed or embarrassed.

Being home is truly the best.

However, it's not accurate to say that your home is 100% private, since neighbors exist for almost everyone. Having neighbors often means that they are somewhat exposed to your actions, whether they want to be or not. It can happen when their kitchen window looks directly into your bedroom window, when the walls between two apartments are too thin, or when your yards are right next to each other, as is the case in the story below.

The neighbors below shared their story on a Reddit community after a dispute with a couple next door. Their issue was that this couple would not stop arguing in their backyard, then blaming their neighbors for eavesdropping on their conversation. This couple fully believed that since the arguments were happening in their private backyard, they were entitled to full privacy, but they forgot that sound doesn't necessarily work that way. If someone happened to be outside while these arguments were in full blast, they were bound to hear it whether they wanted to or not, especially those who lived right next door.

Still, this couple decided to confront their neighbors for sitting outside and listening to their arguments…

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45537029/couple-accuses-neighbors-of-listening-to-their-arguments-after-couple-decides-to-yell-at-each-other" /><a10:updated>2026-05-31T13:00:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Remy Millisky</a10:name></a10:author>

Update: 19-year-old refuses to give 47 and 49-year-old parents his $5.3 million dollar lottery winnings: 'They felt entitled to half.'

At the age of 19, this kid should be set for life after winning the lottery, but now he's not so sure

Commonly given advice dictates that if you win the lotto, there's only one other person in the world you should tell: a lawyer. These homeowners can't bring their beloved oak back, but they can still create something new. Maybe they could use part of the money they won to turn a bad memory into a fresh start by planting a new tree, watching it grow over time, and creating new memories together along the way.

The whole thing started because the neighbor didn't like trees being near his shed. He wasn't dealing with an emergency or any danger, but he decided to act impulsively without even checking property lines. Well, that decision totally backfired on him. Isn't it funny how impulsive decisions can take us to the most unexpected places? We really need to think twice before doing anything that affects someone else's property, otherwise we can end up paying a high price for it, just like this neighbor did.

This story was posted by the homeowner on the Reddit tree law subreddit, where tree enthusiasts post their discussions. He has made an update on the case, since it started 2 years ago, and now has finally come to an end.

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45530629/neighbor-cuts-down-homeowners-89-year-old-oak-tree-without-checking-property-lines-ends-up-paying-7k" /><a10:updated>2026-05-31T11:30:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Bar Mor Hazut</a10:name></a10:author>

Boss demands employee stop leaving a minute early at the end of the workday, despite knowing employee also arrives early, employee responds: ‘Why nitpick?’

Is nitpicking a quality all bosses must have to land a management job?

Some workplaces insist on treating their employees like children, especially when it comes to work hours. Even though, generally speaking, most people want to perform well at their job and truly put in an effort on a daily basis, workplaces still assume the worst. They hire people with the assumption that these people will do whatever they can to cut corners and make their own life easier at the expense of the company; basically, treating them like elementary school kids who don't want to do their homework.

These companies are the strictest when it comes to work hours and punctuality. If your workday is from 8 AM to 5 PM, you have to clock in no later than 8:00 and clock out no earlier than 5:00. Quietly converting their apartment into your personal fulfillment center over the following months, without mentioning it, is a different activity entirely

My building's group chat is basically a never-ending thread of "Can I have a parking spot from 10:30 for a couple of hours?" Someone sends their parking spot number as a reply, the neighbor asking says thanks, and that's it. That's 90% of all the text ever sent over over 5 years. Sure, every once in a while, someone spices things up by asking for a little bit of spice they didn't know was missing before they started cooking. Or, sometimes the request in question here pops up like "can someone take a package from outside my door?" and then it's back to parking spot requests. So I am perfectly equipped to say a friendly-neighborly vibe between, well, neighbors, works great for everyone.

There's a major difference, though, between casual favors and metaphorically making your neighbor raise their right hand and repeat: "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45540101/woman-stops-accepting-her-neighbors-deliveries-after-she-ignores-two-requests-to-end-the-nonstop" /><a10:updated>2026-05-31T09:00:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Remy Millisky</a10:name></a10:author>

10+ Employees who got fired on the spot: 'Instantly he was fired, sued, and owed the company about $8,000'

These employees got fired in an instant after making some mistakes they couldn't explain to their bosses.

The hubris of some workers is eye-opening!

Every office has that one worker who is like the glue holding the place together. Personally, I think a 20% tip is exorbitant, and I refuse to tip more than 10% or even $1 per item ordered, especially if the server only barely completed their short list of normal job duties. Many servers these days expect customers to basically give them a 10-35% raise for doing their job, insisting on big bonuses for the absolute bare minimum. In states where the minimum wage is $7, I sort of understand tipping pressure, but in California or New York, where servers make more annually than most tradesmen, nurses, or other specialized workers, the tipping guilt trip feels a little steep.

Well, apparently, now we don't have to wonder anymore if we're supposed to tip or not, because this career server, who has worked in the industry for decades, has cleared things up on Reddit's r/tipping subreddit. If you're "cheap" like me and refuse to leave enormous tips, just leave nothing! According to this long-time server and service industry pro, a 10% tip is just insulting enough to make servers upset anyway.

In their eyes, if a server is going to be impolite and complain in the kitchen with the busboys anyway, you might as well leave a $0 tip.

Buckle up, fellow restaurant enjoyers, because Pandora's box just split wide open online, and it turns out, Pandora ain't tipping either!

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45504517/career-server-rants-over-10-tips-reaffirming-everyones-prejudice-against-toxic-tipping-culture-just" /><a10:updated>2026-05-31T07:30:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Ben Weiss</a10:name></a10:author>

Employee Accepts New Job and Gives Notice, Then Comes Back Begging for Old Job After New Company Rescinds Offer

What's the best way to beg for your job back right after quitting?

This job candidate, who recounted his difficult story to the r/jobs community subreddit, thought he was done with his old position for good. And at the bottom, with a question mark that captures the entire emotional state of anyone deep in a job search: resume paper??

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45498373/job-applicant-accidentally-emails-her-grocery-list-instead-of-her-cover-letter-recruiter-opens-the" /><a10:updated>2026-05-30T15:00:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Remy Millisky</a10:name></a10:author>

'Toxic' manager sends employees groupchat messages at 6:39 AM after realizing there's no one to open the store: 'Every one of you should be answering your phone calls or texts in the morning'

Why did this retail manager start sending a bevy of messages to her employee group chat at the crack of dawn?

Managers from all industries seem to think their employees have one goal in life: working. Managers only see their workers at their place of employment, which makes them forget that these people have lives outside of work. They have kids, friends, parents. They have to do chores, drive their kids to baseball practice, attend concerts, go on dinner dates. There are a bajillion things that every person needs to accomplish every week, and yet managers never seem to realize that. It's like they think that their workers go home at night and sit quietly on a chair, like a robot, until they're summoned to return to work again.

In retail, managers are constantly badgering their workers to come in for shifts, impeding on their social lives. Between inspections, closing costs, moving expenses, and the endless list of things a new house inevitably needs, most people become hyperaware of their finances. That is why family money conversations can get complicated so quickly. What seems like a generous gesture to one person can look a lot like an unnecessary risk to someone else staring down a mountain of upcoming expenses.

Things become even trickier when hobbies, family loyalty, and financial reality all collide. It is easy to understand wanting to help a nephew continue doing something he loves, especially when it has become a family tradition. On the other hand, many people would argue that if someone cannot afford the down payment on a purchase, financing the larger expense may not be the best solution. Unsurprisingly, that combination of family obligations, expensive toys, and first-time homeownership sparked plenty of debate online.

<a10:link href="https://cheezburger.com/45523717/couple-preparing-to-buy-their-first-home-clash-after-boyfriend-agrees-to-help-pay-for-nephews-4500" /><a10:updated>2026-05-30T12:15:00-07:00</a10:updated>

<a10:author><a10:name>Bar Mor Hazut</a10:name></a10:author>

Employee interrupts team-building meeting to complain about not needing the training, leading coworkers to call employee out: 'The team looked at me in disbelief'

Is there a job that doesn't actually require social interaction with other people?

Even if you are not a social person, you still have to accept that there are social requirements in almost any everyday scenario you find yourself in. According to this employee, their job, programming, doesn't actually require any social skills or dealing with other personalities in the office. So when the team-building meeting became a seminar on how to deal with difficult coworkers, this programmer decided to speak up. Why should they sit through this meeting when it has nothing to do with their job? They came to work to do work, and this meeting was not benefiting them in that department.

After the programmer said their piece about the meeting, they were surprised to be faced with their coworkers' disagreement.
