easy knitting pattern

for the first time, i illustrated a knitting pattern - very easy one, by the way, teaching how to do a maxi collar scarf for winter. it is in portuguese, but at last ypu can appreciate the drawings. this leaflet was handed over during a knitting class andrea and I, from superziper, teached on a weekend. the pics rom that special day are here and a picture of the maxi collar is here (with a cool idea for variation).

andrea and I were invited to do a regular column for MAKE magazine about crafts & web (very nice brazilian mag by the way). for the first issue, we produced a very nice picture to illustrate what we think and I also prepared an illustration! will post the cover and the pages of the magazine soon...

business for kids

I just finished the creation of this logo for a friend's new business. Group deals websites, like Groupon, became very popular in months here in Brazil. This guy already work for the kids business, so he had this great idea of creating a site - http://www.promokids.com.br/ - for offers that would interest parents and people who buy things for kids.

As I didn't want to file immediatelly all the drafts and doodles I did during the creation phase, I thought it would be nice to share here with you part of it. I hope you enjoy taking a look into the backstage!

wooden toys workshop: tea party

This weekend was spent in an intense (and intensive) workshop of wooden toys with the guys from DGPH, organized by Atelie Ludovico.

On two days, from 9 to 6, this is what I've accomplished :-)

Let me share with you how I get to that. Below you can see my first drafts. I think I woke up very creative on Saturday. Instead of just doing one drawing for the character, I did maybe 20 ^___^

On the classroom they had this lightened box, which I used to take this "professional" shot.

I'm in love with this toy ♥ I'm sure if it was on stores people would buy it ;-)

For this rosh hashana, I've decorated two small dishes with an illustration of honey and apple. They will be a gift for close friends, but I kept a picture to use as a virtual card to send to people I know. Shana Tova and Happy 5771!

Best gift ever! I got from the owner of a haberdashery shop in my area. He is around 80 years old and one day promised he would give this wooden box to me. As it was packed of threads, he asked me to come back later in the week. I didn't count, but I'm sure I came back more than 10 times. Each time was a different excuse - I thought maybe he gave up. But yesterday I was passing by and tried again one more time and I think I've found him in a happy mood. Althought I wasn't with my car, I went home carrying this heavy box very happily ^___^

what a cool gift

This crocheted pillow is a gift I got this weekend from my Superziper friend Andrea. It is gorgeous and I can display both sides on my sofa according to my mood: red or blue ^__^

The filling I bought at 25 de Março, a great place to buy craft supplies in São Paulo. Andrea went with me and we took this opportunity to film a short 5 minute film for the Life in a Day project. I hope my little adventure is featured in the film :-)

My pillow on the magazine

I've done this for my mom as a gift. It was just a plain and boring photo frame. So I painted white dots and embroidered a 'Home Sweet Home' message in Portuguese and put some cute fabric flowers around. Needless to say that she loved it *___*

The book is on the shop

Look what I've found yesterday at the shop of the Musée des Arts Decorafits, in Paris!

The contact with Mao Mao Publications started so long ago that I almost forget the book was released. They will send a copy to me, but I was quicker and founded it at the shop. What a good surprise! The book is also available at Amazon, click here to buy. I recommend, inspiring :)

The original illustration had white background and it was done for celebrating th 1st anniversary of Superziper. In this book, it was published with a blue background.

I've found this dog last Saturday at Benedito Calixto, a vintage street market in Sao Paulo. I don't know how, but immediately I remember that I used to have it on my craddle. It's a toy and if you pull the cord, there'll be some music and the dog will roll his eyes. How far a memory can go?

Using some black cardboard and chalk, I prepared a welcome sign for a party at home. With the leftovers I prepared small cards to identify the ingredients of each dish. Everyone loved it!

It's benn almost one week than I cannot move my right arm. I felt over it during my yoga class and since then I'm learning to do things with the left one. For my traditional Rosh Hashana card I had to improvise. 'Reuse' was my motto. I looked for an old alphabet set of stamps for the message (and signature) - and found some apple and leaf stamps I carved in the pattern classes at Central Saint Martin last year. I was able to combine the elements and luckily could produce this year's card. I sent by email to many people, but no one was able to guess it was made with my left hand. A healthy and happy 5770. Le chaim!
