FAIRFAX COUNTY – The Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC) is proud to announce the successful conclusion of the Town of Herndon Endorsement Caucus. After a smooth and well-organized process, the following candidates have been officially endorsed by the FCDC:

FAIRFAX COUNTY – The Fairfax County Democratic Committee would like to express our deepest appreciation to Joe Biden for his service to our country. From rebuilding the economy post pandemic, checking corporate power, supporting labor unions, and fighting for equal rights, to his many other vast accomplishments, President Biden’s time in office has made him one of the most consequential Presidents in the history of our nation.

FCDC Chair Aaron Yohai and 11th Congressional District Chair Manisha Singh made the following statement: “Joe Biden has exemplified his patriotism in making this decision by putting the future of our country first, and we are grateful to him for all that he has done for his fellow Americans. Now, just as President Biden and DPVA Susan Swecker have, we are endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for President. Fairfax Democrats to Release Call to Caucus for Herndon Non-Partisan Endorsements

FAIRFAX COUNTY – The Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC) will be conducting a caucus to endorse Democratic candidates for the 2024 Town of Herndon Elections. Starting tomorrow, July 2nd until July 16th at 5:00 p.m., candidates running for the Herndon Town Council and Mayor can file for the FCDC endorsement caucus. Other important dates for the caucus are as follows:

  • Pre-Registration Opens: 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 10, 2024
  • Pre-Registration Closes: Midnight, Friday, July 26, 2024
  • Candidate Filing Deadline: 5:00 PM, Tuesday, July 16, 2024
  • Electronic Voting Begins: 10:00 AM, Monday, August 5, 2024
  • In-Person Voting: Saturday, August 10, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Voting Deadline: 4:30 PM, Saturday, August 10, 2024

Starting on July 10th, Democrats who are registered to vote in the Town of Herndon will be able to visit FairfaxDemocrats.org/2024Caucus to register to vote in the endorsement caucus. Chairman Aaron Yohai made the following statement on the caucus “I am excited to see candidates running for our endorsement engage Democratic voters this summer. With our successful county wide endorsement caucus for the school board race last year, we look forward to another endorsement vote that engages our Democratic base in the Town of Herndon.”

Fairfax County Democratic Committee Celebrates Pivotal Victory in New York's 3rd Congressional District Special Election

FAIRFAX COUNTY – The Fairfax County Democratic Committee proudly celebrates the significant victory in the special election for New York’s 3rd Congressional District last night. As we flip another seat from red to blue, this victory shows the strength of the Democratic party going into the 2024 election cycle.

The triumph in New York’s 3rd Congressional District is not just a win; it is a resounding message from the electorate that the Democratic Party holds the vision and leadership needed to address the critical issues facing our nation today. Furthermore, although the polls showed that the race would be razor thin, the Democratic candidate led by 4 points in a decisive victory.

Fairfax Democrats Celebrate Marcia St. John-Cunning’s Reinstatement as a Candidate on the Ballot

FAIRFAX COUNTY – Following a hearing regarding Marcia St. John-Cunning’s candidacy earlier today, a Fairfax County judge has allowed two (2) additional petition sheets to be counted towards the signature threshold towards her qualification. These signatures were originally deemed unnecessary by the General Registrar’s office in March because she was already a qualified candidate. Subsequently, ELECT has confirmed that this reinstates Marcia as a qualified candidate.

Following the ruling, FCDC Chair Bryan Graham made the following statement “We are pleased by today’s order and elated to see her reinstated as a qualified candidate for School Board. Marcia St. John-Cunning is an exemplary candidate who has worked in our local schools and knows the families of Franconia. The Fairfax County Democratic Committee will be using the next week to ensure Marcia wins this election.”

“Common sense has prevailed in this ruling, but the damage is already done. Voters have been and will continue to be very confused about how to properly vote in this election. We will continue to fight to ensure that the voter’s intent is respected and that no citizen is disenfranchised. Every vote must be counted.”

“We’ve had tremendous energy focused on electing Marcia this past week. Let’s focus that energy to ensure we elect Democrats in the heavily-contested Springfield District and across all 50 offices here in Fairfax County where we have Democratic nominees and endorsees.”

Statement on the Disqualification of Marcia C. St. John-Cunning From 2023 Elections

FAIRFAX COUNTY –

The Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC) condemns in the strongest terms the decision by Judge Richard E. Gardiner and ELECT to disqualify the Democratic-endorsed school board candidate Marcia C. St. John-Cunning from the ballot in Franconia district. This decision not only ignores the votes of more than 3,000 citizens who have already voted in the Franconia district, the confusion caused by this decision is harmful to our democracy and the sanctity of the electoral process.

In the meantime, FCDC remains committed to winning all 50 elections in Fairfax County this November. In Franconia district, our committee will be launching an aggressive write-in campaign supporting Marcia St. John-Cunning as she continues to earn the popular vote. The decision on Wednesday night comes after a previous legal challenge to Marcia  St. John-Cunning’s candidacy was unsuccessful.

Following the decision on Wednesday night, FCDC Chair Bryan Graham made the following statement “This decision to disenfranchise voters in the middle of an election is outrageous. The case brought by the Eighth Congressional District Republican Committee to undermine our democratic process is disgusting, and the confusion caused by the decision will be catastrophic. The Republican party of today is one that knows their policies on defunding public education, banning books, and bullying children means they can not win fair elections in Fairfax County. 

“The Fairfax County Democratic Committee will not allow Republicans to steal the school board election in Franconia. We will fight for Marcia St. John-Cunning and I am confident she will be the next FCPS School Board member from Franconia district.”

At 5 p.m. today, October 26th, 2023, FCDC will be hosting a press conference outside of the Franconia Government Center with Marcia St. John-Cunning and voters who have been disenfranchised by the unprecedented and partisan decision made yesterday. Fairfax County Democratic Committee Condemns Governor Glenn Youngkin's Reckless Attack On Trans Students' Protections

FAIRFAX COUNTY – Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC) Chair Bryan Graham released the following statement following Governor Glenn Youngkin’s reckless attack on trans students’ protections:

“We denounce Governor Youngkin and his administration for their cynical political decision to roll back protections for transgender students in the Commonwealth. His new model policies deny our most vulnerable students dignity and respect. Youngkin demonstrates again that ‘the cruelty is the point’ as he perpetuates the idea of a culture war fought within our schools.

“Democrats strongly believe in the power and value of public education. We know that the best way for kids to succeed is to provide them with a learning environment where they feel safe and welcome. The Fairfax County Democratic Committee affirms our commitment to the belief that every young person has the right to a safe school environment, and we stand united in condemning such a blatant attack on our children.

“During Glenn Youngkin’s time as Governor, he has pursued relentless assaults on our education system throughout the Commonwealth. Rather than prioritizing our students and supporting our schools, Youngkin has built an agenda of attacking LGBTQ+ students and slashing public school funding. 

“This November, we must elect Democratic majorities to the House of Delegates and the State Senate to reign in the regressive Youngkin agenda. Today we’re launching our ‘Adopt-a-Dem’ program to connect people who may not be in competitive Delegate and Senate districts to opportunities to support candidates in tight races. We urge Democrats in Fairfax County and across Virginia to adopt a candidate at adoptadem.org. 

“The only way to push back the radical Republicans who support the Youngkin agenda is to vote them out this November.”

FCDC Announces 2023 Democratic Primary Results

FAIRFAX COUNTY – With the 2023 Democratic Primary coming to a close, the Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC) is proud to announce our Democratic Nominees on the ballot this November. With the Democratic primary over, FCDC will turn its attention to winning all 50 seats up for election, including the only two currently held by Republicans; Clerk of the Court and the Board of Supervisors for Springfield District.

Regarding the Democratic primary, FCDC Chair Bryan Graham states “I personally thank every candidate who ran in the Democratic primary this year. Primaries allow us to choose the strongest candidates to lead us into the November elections.”

“Regarding the attempts by the Fairfax County Republican Committee and the Republican Party of Virginia to interfere in the Democratic primary, I am disturbed by this unprecedented meddling. Democratic voters deserve to know their nominees were chosen by them and not bad faith actors. Fairfax Democrats look forward to delivering our affirmative vision for Fairfax County’s economy, education, and safety to the voters as we fight against the disastrous Youngkin agenda and win again this November.”

Statement Regarding the Assault at Congressman Connolly’s District Office

FAIRFAX COUNTY – Fairfax County Democratic Committee Chair Bryan Graham released the following statement following the attack that occurred earlier today at a district office for Congressman Gerry Connolly:

“First and foremost, we express our utmost concern for the staff members who were attacked earlier today at Congressman Connolly’s district office in Fairfax City. The Fairfax County Democratic Committee strongly condemns the violence that has occurred today.

“As Democrats, we believe in the power of peaceful and respectful discourse to advance our policies and ideas. As Americans, we have a civic duty to uphold our democracy and the rule of law. We affirm our commitment to a safe and inclusive community where all members can be heard and express themselves freely.

“With polarization and charged rhetoric in the current climate, it is important that we come together to take a strong stance against violence, regardless of political affiliation. We call upon the Fairfax County Republican Committee and the Republican Party of Virginia to join us in condemning this act of violence.”

FCDC Announces In-Person Voting Locations For 2023 Endorsement Caucus

FAIRFAX COUNTY – The Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC) is pleased to announce its in-person voting locations for its 2023 Endorsement Caucus. Any Democratic voter who would like to participate in this process and is not a member of FCDC must sign up by May 5th at fairfaxdems.org/caucus. Voting for the caucus will be conducted online from May 13th until May 20th, and at in-person locations on Saturday, May 20th from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Participants must sign up by May 5th to be permitted to vote if they are not approved FCDC members.

FCDC Chair Bryan Graham stated, “The Fairfax County Democratic Committee is excited that its new caucus process for endorsement allows the Democratic voters of the county to have a say in our endorsements. Democrats believe that voting, as a right, should be easy and accessible. While we anticipate most voters will vote online, we want to give our voters the option of five in-person voting locations for this year’s endorsement caucus. “

In-person voting for the 2023 Endorsement Caucus will take place at the following sites:

  • Reston Association, Conference Room
    • Address: 12001 Sunrise Valley Dr, Reston, VA 20191
  • Braddock District Office, Braddock Hall
    • Address: 9002 Burke Lake Rd, Burke, VA 22015
  • Gerry Hyland Government Center, Room 221ABC
    • Address: 8350 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22309
  • Fairfax County Democratic Committee Headquarters
    • Address: 8500 Executive Park Ave #402, Fairfax, VA 22031
  • Centreville Regional Library, Meeting Room 1
    • Address: 14200 St Germain Dr, Centreville, VA 20121

The Fairfax County Democratic Committee encourages all eligible Democratic voters to sign up for and vote in the 2023 Endorsement Caucus. This process will help strengthen the Democratic party and candidates as we campaign ahead of the November elections.
