I am moving this blog to wordpress.com.

There are several reasons why, but I doubt that any of them matter much to you. Hopefully what matters to you is where the blog is headed. You can go to pastordanieledwards.wordpress.com and find that the blog has already set up shop over there with all of the old posts, comments, etc.

If you get my blog via email, you’ll need to go to the new address and sign up for delivery from the new site.

Animal Crackers at the Jail

Dear little friend,

The other day I went to see a man at the place where your dad is staying.

I knew you had been there because you left some of your animal crackers in the booth with the phones where you go to visit your dad sometimes.

When I saw your animal crackers I was a little sad, but later they made me think of something very important.

I was reminded that I preach and talk to people there because there are other little boys and girls just like you who are waiting for their dad’s to come home and just like you they want their dads to stay at home. They want to get picked up from school by their dads, be driven to basketball by their dads, and eat chicken nuggets with their dads. Just like you do.

I can’t promise that any of those things will happen, but I hope they all do.

Marriage. A series for you- no matter your status.

Most married couples recognize they could use some advice and counsel on making their relationship stronger. But what about people who aren’t married? What about people who are single, divorced, or widowed? No matter your marital status or the status of your marriage, you will find our upcoming series “MARRIAGE.” helpful.

It is my prayer that God will use these services to:

prepare future marriages,

enrich healthy marriages,

rescue struggling marriages,

& restore broken marriages.

Reasons this series of message will be helpful for singles:

You are not married, but you struggle with sexual temptation.

God created sex to be enjoyed within marriage, so dealing with God’s plan for marriage will help us better understand God’s intention for sex. When we compare God’s plan with our perversion of that plan, we appreciate God’s guidelines for sex.

You are not married, but you have other relationships.

Marriage is about adoration, commitment, and sacrifice. So is every good friendship & partnership. Many of the principles we will learn about a healthy marriage will be principles that should be present in any healthy relationship- even non-romantic relationships. These messages will teach us to be better spouses. They will also teach us to be better friends, classmates, siblings, parents, co-workers, etc.

You are not married, but you have friends who are or will be.

Most likely you will have opportunities to support, encourage, and pray with friends and family who are married, even struggling in their marriage. These sermons will better prepare you for those moments of influence.

You are not married, but you may be married in the future.

It isn’t God’s plan for everyone to be married. Marriage isn’t God’s only plan for His people to find happiness, satisfaction, and fulfillment. For many, though, God’s plan for the future includes glorifying Him through marriage. This series will be an excellent base for such a future.
