Dr. Taylor has worked with False Creek Healthcare Centre as a member of the surgical team for the past 12 years. We wish to thank Dr. David Malm for his work as medical director over the past year. During the transition, Dr. Malm will be providing support to ensure a seamless transfer of responsibilities.

Dr. Taylor has practiced clinically in Richmond and Vancouver since 1981. He provides a range of urology services at our Centre, including vasectomy reversals, Zudiex urethral injection for stress urinary incontinence, prostatectomy, minimally invasive plasma vaporization of enlarged prostate tissue (plasma button procedure), and mid urethral sling for treatment of women with urinary incontinence. Dr. Taylor is the past head of the British Columbia Urological Association and former Chief of Surgery at the Richmond hospital.

Dr. Rai (Surgical Director at False Creek) founded Operation Rainbow in 1998. During Operation Rainbow missions Dr. Rai travels with a team of volunteer doctors and nurses to perform reconstructive surgeries on children born with facial, cleft lip and palate deformities. So far, Operation Rainbow has improved the lives of over 2,000 impoverished children in India, China, the Philippines, Cambodia, Lebanon and Mexico. The team treats more than 100 children on each surgical mission, that each last 15 days. Operation Rainbow relies on fundraisers and private donations, the average mission costs $70,000.

With Balloon Sinuplasty, an ENT surgeon opens inflamed sinuses in the same way Cardiologists open up blocked arteries during balloon angioplasty. A tiny balloon is placed into the nose to reach the blocked sinuses and then inflated to restructure the sinus opening. The procedure is safe, effective and has a quick recovery, typically patients go home the same day that they have the procedure.

The procedure is less invasive than traditional sinus surgery, yet effective at relieving symptoms of chronic sinusitis. With a low complication rate, minimal bleeding and low post-op pain, Balloon Sinuplasty allows patients to return to normal activities quickly. Unlike traditional sinus surgery, it does not remove bone or tissue from the nose.
