LAZER: The Siberian Husky

A pedigree Siberian husky puppy was born!

In may 2009, a couple in Wellingborough, a town in Northamptonshire, 'adopted' a puppy from a breeder in Norfolk here in England. The 12-week old puppy was named and known as 'Lazer' by his new parents, Richard and Vivian, as he was so willing to settle down in his new home.

As loving and caring parents of Lazer, they enrolled him in a 9-week training course that occurred on every Tuesday evening nearby their location. The session taught him how to obey his trainer's commands such as sit-down, stand-up, lie down etc. The core purpose is to teach the dog how to behave well and also, to create a strong and binding relationship with its owners.

In the early years, dogs were trained and used by man to hunt livestock for food. Also horses and donkeys are used for their robust body to transport goods for trading purposes. Dogs' natural hunting instinct has helped man secure his food and in so doing, has become a valued companion ,hence, the saying 'a dog is a Man's Bestfriend'.

Of course, Richard and Vivian treat Lazer with affection, and he is very demanding of both friendship and exercise. This made them realized, that for now, it would be better not to 'adopt' a friend for Lazer.

From the day they cradled Lazer in their arms, they would take him outside for a brisk exercise walk. These bonding jaunts to the country parks are making them comfortable and playful with one another. On one of the days at the park, Lazer met a Malamute dog (Storm), who became his running around companion.

At the age of 6 months old, they experienced a terrible moment of almost losing him and it happened twice. First, Lazer saw a dog inside a moving car and chased it onto the busy and dangerous A45 road. The car had to break to avoid him, but unfortunately, inflicted some bad bruises. The second incident occurred, when Richard and Vivian went for a ferry trip to the Isle of Wight and Lazer was left with Vivian's nephew. Lazer escaped from the eyes of his caretaker and was lost. Fortunately, they found him on a building site where he was caught and placed in the builder's hut. It was thought that 'Castration' (a word that terrifies red-blooded men, if not dogs) would make him less boisterous. So, he underwent 2 stressful and painful operations. Castration is a surgical operation by which a male loses the functions of the testicles. The idea behind this operation is to decrease his body strength and muscle mass.

The nocturnal training course made him a competent dog, which was proven when he entered several country shows, where he 'brought home 10 bacons', one prize was ' The Most Handsome Dog'...a heartthrob that is tantamount to Pierce Brosnan! He also received 5 Generation Certificates from the Kennel Club that vouched for his winning bloodline.

Lazer is not merely a domesticated dog that only barks and wants feeding. Despite his demanding ways, he has a winning personality that makes him an adorable companion for Richard and Vivian.

He just recently celebrated his 1^st birthday with his family and friends. The 22^nd of February is the unwrapping of gifts for HIM!
