David Archuleta’s Angels DID IT! 1st place!

WOW! Just…WOW. Between the amazing leadership of Pecan Pie and a last minute ingenious idea by Dave Filice to promote more donations, the Stand Up 2 Cancer team, Crush Kids’ Cancer is the team with the most donations overall of any team.  As for the latest challenge, we were closing in on the 2nd place team before the contest ended.  We’ll have to tune in next Friday, September 10 at 8pm EST/7pm CST on ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, Bio, Current TV, Discovery Health, E!, G4, HBO, HBO Latino, MLB Network, mun2, Showtime, Smithsonian Channel, The Style Network, TVOne and VH1 to see who won!

Reminder: Tomorrow David Archuleta will once again be singing Christmas music  (as NO ONE else can…shhhh) on stage with the talented Orla Fallon and the Celtic Woman Maev for a show which will air on PBS December 20th. Taping will take place at the Polk Theater. To fully appreciate this beautiful venue, click to go to there for a panoramic view (*caution* it may make you a bit dizzy). Which Song Do You Like Best So Far?

ARRRGGGGHHHH.  I hate these kinds of questions.  David hates these kinds of questions.  But it’s not stopping us from doing a poll, ’cause we haven’t done one for a while, and there’s not a whole lot of Archunews out there today.

So don’t feel badly about choosing one song over the other–you won’t hurt the other song’s feelings, I promise.  We won’t even tell the other song.

We’ve heard other other new songs here and there–Parachutes and Airplanes, Not A Very Good Liar, and If I Could Only Be (very hooky, that song), and we’ve seen several titles of newly penned Archuleta songs on ASCAP: All the Time, Beautiful Distraction, Fall Down, The Last Thing (If Only), and Northern Lights.

But there have only been three songs confirmed publicly for David’s new album: Something ‘Bout Love, Elevator, and The Other Side of Down.  The general public has only heard two of them.

So…of the those two…which do you like best?  Not which one makes the best single, but which one appeals to you the most?  Which one gets the most play time on your iPod?  (Am I the only one left on the planet with an iPod?)

BOP and Tiger Beat interviewed David at the Arthur Ashe’s Kids’ Day and asked him a GIRL QUESTION.  I thought he handled it nicely.

He notices her positive energy…her aura…he can tell if she’s a “really good person.” 

After that intuitive meaningful stuff gets out of the way, he notices her eyes.  Oh, wait a minute, we’re back to the intuitive meaningful stuff: “The eyes are the window to the soul.  You can really see a lot about a person in their eyes.”

Mad dash to the end!  WILL WE BE STANDING??

A long, long time ago, I *virtually* met a wonderful lady called PecanPie.  We all know that’s not her real name, but she became Dr. Pie to me.  She had an idea.  With the inspiration of David Archuleta behind her, and the power of David’s ArchAngels beside her, her goal was to raise the most money for cancer research in the Stand Up To Cancer team challenge.  A lofty goal.  We were up against some formidable team opponents.  But come on!  WE WERE THE ARCH ANGELS!!!  Quickly, the word spread, momentum grew and donations flooded in, and at the first Stand Up to Cancer event in 2008, we surpassed our goal and landed in the top 2 (I say we were first, although timekeeping and technical issues with the donation site called us a close second).  No matter – lots of money was raised and donated by David Archuleta’s hugely supportive fans.  I, for one, was so proud of this accomplishment – a cause especially close to my <3

Two years later, the challenge is on yet again, culminating in the SU2C telecast on Friday, September 10.  We are currently in second place (I am so tired of that placing, aren’t you???).

If every one of the over 1,000 members of Crush Kids’ Cancer would donate a few dollars, we would easily pass the teams in the lead! We have WAY more members than the teams in the lead!

New BLOG from David Archuleta!

Helloo to everyone from Nashville. It’s been a while since I’ve written a blog, so I thought it’d be a good week to write one.

I’ve had a really great past couple of weeks! I’ve been on the first leg of a radio promo tour, and it’s been great visiting all the different radio stations and getting to perform again! I started in Greenville, South Carolina for B93.7’s Zoo-A-Palooza to help raise money for the local Greenville Zoo there. I then went to Louisville, Kentucky where I got to do a show for WDJX with other performers like We The Kings, Hot Chelle Rae, Iyaz, and Kris Allen as the host. It was really fun hanging with everyone there. We then made stops at 106.3 in Lexington, Q102 in Cincinnati, WNCI in Columbus, and Q102 in Philly. It’s fun getting to go to all of the different radio stations! We also went to PRO FM in Rhode Island, which is always great going over to see them! After that we went to Sixflags New England for a show with KC 101 where Auburn, Boys Like Girls, Flo Rida, and Bruno Mars performed at too. I must admit that I’m a pretty big fan of Bruno Mars’s stuff. He has an awesome voice. I’m sure you guys know his new song Just the Way You Are, but if you haven’t then you should really check it out.

After all the radio promo, it was time to go to New York for Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day where Shontelle, Allstar Weekend, Demi Lovato, and Jonas Brothers also performed. It was really fun. It was cool meeting Allstar Weekend and hanging with them, and then seeing Shontelle and Demi again. I didn’t really get to say much to the Jonas Brothers, but I did catch a bit of their soundcheck. It was cool getting to sing “Something ‘Bout Love” for the first time live.. period.. lol, then also first time live on TV both acoustically on Good Day NY and then with the energy of the band on AAKD. Hope you guys have been enjoying the performances! It’s also been fun getting to introduce another new song from the album called “Elevator” that I first sang in Greenville. It’s one of my favorite songs on the album and I feel is a good representation of what else you’ll be getting from the album . More of the David vibe haha.

So… we’ve been getting things wrapped up with the album The Other Side of Down!! It’s been pretty crazy trying to get everything finalized but we’re pretty much finished and have done all we can under the amount of time that there was to work with haha. I’m really excited! We’re a little over a month away from it coming out October 5th, and I’m already starting to feel the anxious and the jitters. I really hope all the work this last year pays off though for all of you! Anyway I am going to end for today, and talk to you guys later!

A New Band

On Saturday Mike K tweeted a picture of David’s new band.  I posted the pic on Saturday night and asked him kindly to give us some info. Something! Anything! But alas, I was not in luck.  Until Sunday, when, persistent person that I am, I tweeted Mike and asked him for names of said new bandmates.

First, I complimented, because we had all just seen David and the band’s performance on CBS National TV  (insert collective *squee* here):

I was browsing Seventeen and decided to take this quiz because I’m a sucker for them! I answered all the questions and to my surprise, it said my famous guy was David Archuleta! It’s sad how happy I was. I had no idea he was going to be an answer. I was glad that I didn’t have to cheat to get to him, because I didn’t even know I could tell you which ones I chose to get to him, but doesn’t that take the fun out of it? I figured I should let Fans of David know!

I am mortified to say that my celebrity dream guy was Jesse McCartney.   Ummmm….

Zoo-A-Palooza Story, Pictures, and Videos!

One of my best Archie friends, Alexis, got four meet and greet passes/tickets for the Zoo-a-palooza in Greenville, SC for her and her dad and for me and my friend Cristina. THANK YOU ALEXIS! This was the fourth time I’d seen David live, and this was my first time meeting him! You can imagine how excited I was.

So my dad, Cristina, and I met Alexis and her dad at a restaurant called Trio, and then at about 4:45 we headed over to the zoo. It was drizzling on and off, but the rain ended up not ever being a problem. We stood in the VIP line for about an hour, and we were the second group in line! At about 6:00, they let us in the gate and made us wait a little longer before we could head over to the meet and greet area. While we were waiting for our cue to go, the gecko came and gave me a big hug! I love that guy, whoever he was.

So after about 10 minutes, we were lead over to the meet and greet area, which was a fenced off picnic area with most of the tables cleared out. We waited there for a while, and then the Runner Runner members walked back and forth past us a few times, and we talked to them a few times haha. Then a guy from Channel 7’s Scene on 7 interviewed us, and I’ll link you to the videos of us on the news. Remember, I was the girl with the “Modest is Hottest” sign that David pointed at and then tweeted about the last time he was in South Carolina! So I basically explained the sign to the interview guy and showed him a print out of the tweet and everything. He must have thought I was crazy, haha!

Then, we heard a bunch of people screaming, and since I’m tall I was able to stand on my tip toes and peek over the fence to see a bunch of heads, and we saw that one of them was David! So naturally we started freaking out. So then David walked into the meet and greet area, and I just couldn’t stop smiling and staring at him!

So how the meet and greet worked, you would walk around the area in a circle, and you’d take a picture with Runner Runner first, then wait in a short line, take a picture with David, and then leave. So once we actually got under the shelter, I turned my camera on and started taking videos of David talking to people. Cristina said, “We love you, David!” and he turned around and waved at us!

Then we met Runner Runner. Ok, so get this. Cristina and I had on green shirts that said “David’s girls…” and picture of the SBL cover on the front, and “…best in the world!” on the back. So when we walked up to Runner Runner one of the guys was like, “I like your shirt!” and I said, “…thank you?” Haha, I didn’t really understand what he meant by that. And then one of the other guys pointed at Cristina’s shirt and said, “Ryan, that’s you!” and then one of the other guys was like, “That’s NOT you!” Haha! They were an interesting group.

So anyways, then we got in the short line to meet David. I was actually really nervous! I had my sign with me, and I was really hoping he’d remember it. So it was almost our turn, and I told the lady standing next to the camera guy, “This guy right here, he changed me life.” She was like, “Oh really?” and I said, “I’m dead serious!” and then I turned back to David and I realized he was waiting for us to come up! For a second I couldn’t move! Cristina was like, “Elizabeth it’s our turn!” Haha! So Cristina was like, “OH MY GOSH IT’S DAVID ARCHULETA!”

And normally I freak out around celebrities, but I’m not gonna lie, I was a little starstruck! So we walked up to him and I said, “Hey David!” and he said, “Hey, how are you?” So this is where the slightly awkward part comes in. Cristina and I started trying to ask if he remembered the sign, but I kept getting interrupted because the camera guy was yelling at us to take the picture, and one of the ladies was like, “NO! YOU CAN’T TALK TO HIM! TAKE THE PICTURE!”

And it was a little frustrating, and David was like, “Uhhh….” haha. So then I just said, “Ok, we’ll just take the picture first.” And David was like, “Oh. Haha!” So we took the picture, and the lady started yelling at us again, and I was starting to panic that I wouldn’t be able to ask David if he remembered the sign.

So finally Cristina was just like, “LOOK AT HER SIGN!” So he looked over at me, and I held it up for him and said, “The last time you were here I had this sign…” and before I could even finish saying that, David pointed at it and said, “OH YEAH, haha!” And Cristina said, in disbelief, “You remember it?!” And David said, “Yeah, I do!” I hope he wasn’t lying, haha. By this point the lady was pulling Cristina’s shirt, and she had been yelling at us the whole time. But I knew I had to get a hug. So I said, “David can I have a hug?” and he said, “Oh sure, yeah!” and you can see him hugging me in the Channel 7 video.

And then Cristina asked for a hug, and again he said, “Oh sure yeah” and gave her a quick hug. Then I knew I had to tell him one last thing. I said, “David you changed my life!” And he gave me the most GENUINELY FLATTERED face I’ve ever seen. He cocked his head to the side, squinched up his face, and said, “Awwwww!” He looked genuinely happy to hear that! So then it was over. Right after we met him, we were really annoyed at the lady for yelling at us and making it awkward, but even so, it was AMAZING to finally meet him! And I’m so proud of myself for remembering to tell him that he changed my life. Mission accomplished. Then I realized that I forgot to give him my letter! So I gave it to one of the ladies working there to give to him. Then I realized that I also forgot to give him the “Modest is Hottest” bracelet I got made for him! So I asked a different lady to give it to him. As we were leaving the meet and greet area, I said, “Bye, David!” and he smiled and waved, and then someone behind him was trying to get his attention so he turned back around. Gahhhh, I had been waiting so long to meet him, and it’s only now just starting to sink in that it actually happened!

So after the meet and greet, we waited right outside the area to see David go to the stage. While we were waiting, I asked the lady that I gave the letter to if she gave it to him, and she said she gave it to him personally. And I asked the lady that I gave the bracelet to if she gave it to him, and she said she gave it to his manager, so honestly I have no idea if he ever got it :-/. But anyways, we did see David walk out, but I couldn’t get his attention haha.

So we made our way to the stage area, and Runner Runner was almost done. There were SOOOO many people! We got a spot way in the back. But THEN, magically, I saw my dad waving to me crazily, trying to get my attention, and he had a spot SECOND ROW behind the barricades, right in the center. So Cristina, Alexis, and I pushed past hundreds of people. I felt so bad, and I apologized to everyone, saying, “I’m SO SORRY, can I push past you? I have to stand with my dad!” Fortunately no one was hateful. So we got to where my dad was, and he left to go stand somewhere else haha. So when David came out, he sang SBL, Crazy, Elevator, and Crush. When he hit that first high note in SBL, I SCREAMED MY HEAD OFF! I was soooo proud of him. And then again when he hit that crazy high note during “Crazy” I screamed really loud and said, “YEAH DAVID!”

And I felt a little bad afterwards watching the videos from the concert, because mostly everyone else was quiet during the songs, and you can always hear me scream in all the videos haha. But usually when I started screaming everyone else would join in, so it’s all good. And then, I TOTALLY missed this, but we had asked the girls in front of us to hang my “Modest is Hottest” sign over the barricades so David could see it, and apparently after one of his songs he pointed at it for a split second and said, “Thank you!” But I missed it, and I can’t find it in any of the concert videos. Ohh well. But I really was so proud of him that night, he sounded the best I’ve ever heard him. Then after his set he ran down the barricades to touch hands, and I touched his arm.

I cannot believe how amazing that day was. I had waited sooooo long to finally meet him, and I hope I can again some day! Once again, to Alexis: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! Now for the next thing to look forward to: OTHER SIDE OF DOWN!!!!!!!!!!
