Fantragic return for a special episode giving our look at the tv and film that have thrilled us in 2009.

In this bumper, feature length episode Trevor, Geoff and Tony talk about a veritable shed-load of genre related product that has kept us glued to our TV screens... and glued to our movie seats in 2009.

Please note this episode was recorded before we saw End of Time Parts 1-2.
Ah, yes, hello there. For those keen listeners to our last episode you may have noticed we didn't make it quite to the end of our look at our favourite Doctor Who stories.

In this episode, we do, promise. Cross our hearts. Hope to snuff it.

But seriously, we hope you have enjoyed our skip down memory lane. It has been our pleasure to bring it to you.

Fantragic will be back, oh yes, it will be back. Probably sooner than you think. Keep an eye out at Xmas for our 2009 wrap up episode. And in mid 2010 a very special project will be coming to the Fantragic pages. Can't say much now. All that can be said is it involves a very tragic fan indeed...

Farewell for now from the regular team at Fantragic. Keep us in your feeds, we will be doing the occasional episode.
Well, what would a last hurrah! for our regular series of podcasts be without a shameless, self-aggrandizing multi-episode foray into our favourite Doctor Who episodes?

We found, much to our surprise (or perhaps we knew it all along!) that one episode wasn't enough to rattle on about Doctor Who's finest moments, so we return for another episode of memories and favourites.

Join, as usual, the Fantragic super team, Trevor, Geoff, Tony and Gecko as we continue our journey through the Doctor Who Oeuvre!
There have been a few changes here recently in the Fantragic caravan. So we felt it opportune to revisit the way we do things and re-evaluate what we want to do with our time in the caravan speaking into microphones.

Most of you will know our sister site - mmmcommentaries.com. We do alternate DVD commentaries for a variety of genre films and TV series.

We have decided to concentrate more fully on that, our first love. Now that doesn't mean that Fantragic is disappearing, far from it. It will just be used for more special events, big announcements etc, or when the whim takes us to put one out.

So we thank you all for sticking with us for this time, and hope that you still keep us bookmarked, in your feeds or whatever cause we will still be around.

I hope in the meantime you will say with us at MMM.

But we aren't leaving you in the lurch just yet - when we talked about the changes to Fantragic we wanted to go out with a BANG! So, as is our want in the caravan, we returned to our first love, Doctor Who.

Our listeners have asked on occasion what our favourite Doctor Who stories are. We have given tantalising glimpses, sneak peaks etc about what they might be but we have never laid our cards on the table and said what our favs are.

That situation is rectified in this bumper episode of Fantragic. Trevor, Tony, Geoff and Gecko lay out for all to see what floats our boat in the Doctor Who universe.

Wonder no more, dear listeners!

Reinvention is something that is on all the minds of the Fantragic team this episode, with the new Doctor Who series under the reign of Moffatt to be unleashed upon us next year. It got us thinking about the whole concept of reinvention, how a show changes, for whatever reason, to suit a new audience.

In this episode we discuss films and tv series and how they change and adapt to tackle the challenges of a new audience.

Our Doctor Who Dump also takes a broad look at Doctor Who, and how it has changed over its long history to remain current, relevant to its audience.
Remakes, reduxes, re-releases, re-imaginings.

Its part and parcel for anyone even slightly interested in our genre. Movies that get re-released, changed, vision inspired.

In this episode of the Fantragic podcast we look at this very issue. We explore some of the triumphs and some of the tragedies in the remake, redux and re-editing arena.

Our Doctor Who Dump is a story that is crying out for a re-edit, or even perhaps a casual losing of the master tapes - the 7th Doctor story Paradise Towers.

The Stephen King move adaptation of his novel Misery gets the Nethers treatment.

And add to that the regular fix of news and reviews - well, it business as usual for the Fantragic team!
In this episode of the Fantragic podcast, we look at all things cliffhangers.

Our Doctor Who Dump looks at one of the most notorious Doctor Who episodes for really awful cliffhangers - The Space Pirates (yeah, we had to go look it up too - it is a real Doctor Who story, promise!).

Speaking of cliffhangers, our Nether Regions explore the film which is all about cliffhangers, sorta, Stephen King's indictment of fans and their expectations, Misery.

And the team of course shares their favourite cliffhangers along the way. It's all gold!
After our lengthy delve into the various quadrants of the Star Trek universe, its time to come back to Earth and look at something without pointed ears and nacelles.

Episode #86 looks at many things - tv and film from the orient for a start. Monkey, that amazing egg-born cloud-riding superhero gets the Nether Regions treatment, and we also have a discussion about the anime that fired the imaginations of the Fantragic boys in their formative years.

Our Doctor Who Dump is about that classic story, Talons of Weng Chiang... because.... ummm.... it has an oriental in it....

We talk about the latest DVD and movie releases, both past and future as well.
The amazing Fantragic journey through the various quadrants of the Star Trek universe comes to an end with this podcast, where we delve into the more recent outings for the Federation and its friends. Voyager, whales, bald men and their girlfriends and head strong reimaginings of the franchise are the order of the day as we come up to date with what Star Trek has to offer.

Its's been a wild ride. But as long as we don't have to talk about Riker's beard any more, we are content.
The second part of the incredible journey the Fantragic team are taking through over 40 years of Star Trek in its many flavours and forms.

Last time, on Fantragic, we left you with Spock being grateful (in his own reserved way) to McCoy for hanging on to his mantra for him.

This time we move beyond such shenanigans and move onto whales, bald men, trekless-Treks and wise word whilst making toast.

It's been a wonderful ride so far, continue with us as we punch up to Warp Factor 5 (we didn't have authorisation from Starfleet to exceed that speed, sorry) and continue our look at Star Trek.

A classic spy thriller is our Nether Region pick for this fortnight - the original Manchurian Candidate.

We put our nostalgia hats on and have a natter about our favourite Cold War films.
The boys are in review mode this fortnight as they tackle the recent release of the Doctor Who stories The Romans and the Rescue on shiny DVD. See what the caravan consensus is on Doctor Who in the days before the sonic screwdriver.

We also tackle the end of Battlestar Galactica, and try and find out in sentences of 15,000 words or less just what the hell that ending was all about. Allusions to scrabble, unlikely angels and telekinesis abound!

This is the first part of a massive recording session we undertook, which was originally to include even more podcasting goodness. The decision was made to split it up into two podcasts, the second of which will reach your ears in a fortnight's time.
What was meant to be a deep and meaningful podcast about the galaxies political structures turned into a podcast devoted to the team catching up on their reviewing - we look at the movie Watchmen, have a look at the Doctor Who ESpace DVD release and review a classic Doctor Who story - Monster of Peladon.
