This tractor was bought in 1939 at the Kensington Supply Co. by Dale Brenner’s father, Lewis Brenner. It was used as all power on the 120-acre farm until 1948 when Lewis Brenner bought a John Deere Model B with a full line of new equipment.
After Lewis passed away in 1951, Dale’s brother took over the farm. A few years later he lost interest in farming and sold this tractor around 1960. Dale kept track of where the tractor was, always wanting to buy it back, but the owner would not sell. About 10 years ago, the owner passed away and Dale tried to purchase it from his widow, but it was still not for sale.
When she passed away about five years ago, Dale kept watching for the estate auction, but the tractor was not listed. He went to the sale and talked to one of the heirs and found out that the tractor had been sold a few weeks prior. Dale finally found the new owner and was able to purchase it. The tractor has since been completely restored by Dale (pictured) and his son, Edwin, and is now in mint condition.

When Maurer died in 1988, Louis McQuistion’s cousin bought the farm from Maurer’s family in 1989. The tractor was included in the sale.
McQuistion (pictured with the tractor) bought the tractor from his cousin in 1998, brought it home to Columbiana, and spent the summer working on it. He rebuilt the engine and restored the tractor. Later, he purchased a second John Deere B and swapped parts off it. A final addition was a John Deere 801 hitch and clamshell fenders.

Richard Shaw has owned this tractor about a year. He bought it from an old friend who had owned it many years. The tractor is now electric and has a crank start only. Shaw claims it runs well and starts up right away. There are no break pedals; hand levers work the breaks. Shaw uses the tractor at Greentown Cemetery.

The purchase price: $1,715! It was the first WD in Portage County, Gay says. He restored the tractor in 1996, celebrated its 50th birthday in 1998 (when this photo was taken), and used it the first week of May 2008 for spraying!

Owned and restored by Don Glenn, Chester, W.Va.

Don Glenn bought the shredder rusty and not running in New Bedford, Ohio. He worked several years to restore it to running condition. He also has a corn binder he uses to cut corn for the demonstrations he does at the local fair and antique equipment shows. He’s also taken the shredder to Michigan, where they used a steam engine to run it.
