Sorry I didn't see this until now. Weird... Anyway, recipe calls for 5-cup baking dish. I used a smallish casserole dish. I made this over the weekend and put a little too much milk in it. Grrrr... It's truly super and simple! But you know what -- I think I like it better with peaches and/or black/blueberries. Strawberries are made to be eaten raw is my conclusion! Especially the fresh local ones!

I was curious, what size and type of pan do you recommend for the "Super Simple Strawberry Cobbler" recipe in your book, "Farm Fresh North Carolina"? Thanks in advance, for your recommendation.

Hi Joy. With hundreds of apple varieties out there, it's hard to say. I'd suggest looking at Lee Calhoun's book and also going to David Vernon's farm in November, when he has an open house. You might find that you enjoy *many* heirloom varieties, which will taste vastly different from types found at the grocery store. Good luck!

I have looked for an apple my grandfather had when I was a child (I'm now 73 yrs old) that I can't seem to find. It was kinda squatty - not tall like a red delicious - and had very pale yellow skin. It was extremely sweet and almost mushy when bitten into and the juice would run down your chin it was so juicy. It had a flavor I've never found in another apple and I would love to find one since I really don't like apples - only this one. I recall him doing lots of grafting so who knows whether this was obtained from a graft or not. Many thanks if you know what I'm talking about.

Hi Holly. The link works for me, but the info is no longer available, I assume because the program has already started. You could contact the Davidson County Extension Service and see if they'll offer it again. (That's where link goes to.) Also, there's a much more in-depth offering, which is a year-long residential program, outside of Chapel Hill. Info here:

Hello Diane Daniel.
My wife Jacqueline and I are starting a market in Charlotte, that we feel is going to be quite unique. We have three primary goals, promoting market produce, fighting childhood obesity and teaching families healthful eating and better food choices. We envision an atmosphere of fun, education and community for our vendors and patrons alike. We are currently looking for farmer's (vendors) who have a vision to bring more meaning to their labor in the field, increased sales and help children and their families stretch their dollars and live healthier lives. We live in the Charlotte Metro area of Mecklenburg County. Can you help us connect with these farmers? You can find me on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/GodsMichael and at my email address, greaterwellness@yahoo.com
