What Next?

Well…I for one wouldn’t waste it on anything but with some delightful play with my significant other! After 11 years of marriage playtime is still cherished time. What Next?

It’s that time of year again. The year of the dreaded annual family photos. You know, the one where someone’s crying, smirking, frustrated, scratching, looking away, look like their taking a mug shot, or worse…picking their nose.  And then what happens? You have to settle for something “OK” to showcase and pass out to family and friends. If you follow these tips, you’ll be on your way to a better holiday photo that you’ll be proud to display to all.

1. Avoid busy prints and clashing colors. It’s OK that not everyone’s wearing the same colors but try to avoid colors that would clash like dark green and pale pink.
2. Make sure everyone has eaten something prior to the photo shoot. Not so much that you’ll feel too full to sit comfortably but enough so that nobody is complaining about being hungry in the middle (or in some cases the first 10 minutes) of your shoot. You might also want to consider carrying a couple non-messy snacks to the photo shoot as well.
3. Plan to take SEVERAL shots in multiple poses AND angles. When there’s more than one in the photo, you want to get that perfect shot where everyone is looking at the camera in a natural and genuinely happy manner. As much as others might grumble, it’s the rare family that can get the perfect shot in the first 3-5. A good photographer might take several simultaneous shots in a pose to find that right one.
4. Avoid harsh lights from the camera inside where possible. Natural lighting is often better. So turn off the auto-flash when possible. If you have Christmas lights in the background, find that perfect time late afternoon/early evening when it’s not too dark but not too light so the lights are balanced and can show beautifully.
5. Take some candid or action shots in addition to the posed ones. They’re more natural and often capture personalities.
6. If you’re taking pictures yourself and want to be in the picture, grab a tripod for your camera and utilize the self-timer (short time frame).
7. Take pictures up close to avoid all the empty space around the person(s) and so you can see them well. You can off center the group of people with a background of a tree or other object but avoid empty space where possible.
8. In a couple poses, give the little ones something to hold onto and/or play. They’ll be more content and give you a better picture.
9. When it’s said and done, don’t be afraid to do lots of cropping in some shots. It gives more variety to the usable poses.
10. Now get your pictures developed and get a digital copy of the photo(s) so that you can have holiday cards made from a company like Tiny Prints.

OUR THOUGHTS…FUN search/find and puzzle game with a murder scene as the theme by G5 Entertainment. Your job in the game is to help the two investigators, work with forensics, question suspects with the detectives on the case, and find clues in multiple scenes.

Fairly easy to pick up and start playing as well as navigate through with ease. Pinch the screen on the device and enlarge the area to find things. The images were of pretty good quality and the whole family (5years and up) enjoyed playing it. If the portion where the characters speak had been more animated, that would have been more of a plus but still, it was worth the download.

We got the i-Pod version to play but you can also get it on your Droid phone, the i-Pad, the i-Phone, and even your home computer (BigFish sells it as well). It would likely be more enjoyable on a bigger screen like a computer or tablet versus a small phone screen.

What Next?

Back in March I picked a Retro French Maid outfit for fun and because it was on the larger than I expected but it was still fun to try on, I figured it would make for a fun costume outside the bedroom (of course for Halloween that is). As hubby and I were checking out what I should wear to this year’s adult Halloween party (that of course does not have my hoo-ha and hiney showing to all), I thought I’d come back to EdenFantasys and see what new outfits were in stock since they were so reasonably priced.

Oh the choices for us to choose from! The Crystal Ball Gypsy would have others asking for their fortunes to be told all night long, the Vampire Vixen would mesmerize those who come into my path by my ability to enchant them. For the lover of all things dark and scary (make believe of course), the Haunted House Mistress will have my husband drooling all night long and counting down the minutes til he can have this dark mistress to himself.

Perhaps hubby would delight me in being Jack Sparrow for the night so I could join him on an adventurous evening as his sexy Pirate Wench. Or maybe he’d rather act as the Big Bad Wolf while I played the sweet Miss Red Riding Hood for the evening.

But then again, tonight we did find the most sinful patent leather mary jane platform shoes that would go perfectly with this school girl outfit. Because I know he’d feel like a horny teen all night long once he saw me in my pig tails, the MJ’s and outfit! Oh yeah…I’m thinking I need to convince hubby to be my absent professor!! I do love an intelligent absent minded fool who’ll forget everything he’s doing once he sees me!

Oh the choices we must make! The good thing is that they are so reasonably priced that I could honestly get two outfits now for the price I’d likely pay at a local retail store selling adult costumes. And of course not only can we find a fun outfit for the party we can DEFINITELY find more fun for our own personal party at home… (wink wink).

What Next?

Social media is for sharing your likes, dislikes, what you do, and of course things about you. People are curious as to who you are as an individual that’s sharing things with them. They want to know that what you say is true. Do you really feel that way? Or are you a robot without care?

I left Triberr.com because it went from personal, trusty-worthy information to way too many auto-tweets that were like weeds mixed in with my flowers. Not to say that all the auto-tweets were bad ones but the problem was that there were so many. I honestly rarely read each post that were auto-tweeted. I very well could have been tweeting things I didn’t believe in. How’s that supposed to help with my integrity and influence with those who follow me and perhaps might depend on my opinion of something?

These random auto-tweets were so many that my own personal flowers (personality and things I would normally share) were getting lost. Auto retweets took over the bed insanely!

Before when there were days I didn’t tweet anything, at least the last couple of tweets represented who I was. At the most, you could scroll back 2-3 tweets and get a feel for who I was. Up until this moment, there were SOOOOO many Triberr retweets that a follower would have to really scroll through my tweets to get to my personal tweets or tweets about what I personally do or am interested in.

So what you ask? Ooh! Not good. Especially when reaching out to potential new followers. Not only did I lose the chance for gaining new twitter peeps, but more importantly, it raised my chances of losing a follower who followed me for who I was before Triberr.

I’m not saying Triberr is bad. But I do think that one should think about how it will impact them and those who already follow them. What are you really trying to gain other than reaching out to more people? For me, I want people to come back to me, my blogs, and value my opinion of something. For someone who tweets giveaways all day long, Triberr would be great when grouped with other Triberr’s who tweeted nothing but giveaways. But for me who shares book related posts and other things I like that help this working mom of 3 kids, my readers begin to think I’ve gotten more ADD than I was before because now I’m tweeting about things I’d not normally tweet about. Then they start to lose interest, feel my tweets are spamming, and wonder how I could possibly vouch for the 30+ reviews outside of my own. What’s worse is that I could have been contradicting reviews being auto-tweeted AND importantly ME! Remember, I rarely read EACH post being auto-tweeted, I honestly (sadly) have no clue what I was tweeting all this time I was a Triberr member. Not good for me.

So I’ve laid down weed killer without hesitation or wonder if I made a mistake. I don’t want those auto-tweets taking
away the richness of who I am to my Twitter followers.
