Vuitton here with a rundown of the fashion fab and faux pas of the weekend.  Clearly, everyone was glued to the television for last night’s game, but the stars made their way down to Florida to be a part of the Super Bowl mania.  From parties to events, we’ve got you covered on who looked hot and who was just two degrees shy of style madness.

Solange Knowles made appearances this weekend in Miami at the 44th Annual Super Bowl Friday Night Lights party and at the launch of New Tide Plus Febreeze Fresh Sport event. I’m sure you can see why I had to do two pics. I’ve always admired how Solange plays with color, and she knows fashion is all about taking risks. She definitely hit the mark and surpassed it. Bold jackets were her themes this weekend along with those killer platform pumps. Hot looks all around!

Serena and Venus Williams were also at the latter event with Serena in a black peplum dress with very cute pink stilettos and Venus in a purple Herve Leger bandage dress with gold sandals and accessories. I’m actually liking the pair a lot, especially Venus, since we often see an HL number with high platforms. Hot!

Gabrielle Union and Kelly Rowland came to show their support as well. Gabrielle Union’s makeup is always en pointe, but I just can’t get past how much black she owns. Hmm…we need more color, Gabby! And Kelly, I’m just not sure which direction this hair is going in, and the huge brown bag throws off what could’ve been a cute look. Hmm…better luck next time.
The Black Eyed Peas made their way onto the red carpet at Playboy’s Super Saturday Night Party, and needless to say, they pretty much looked hot!  I love the way they wear completely different things, but always seem to compliment each other so effortlessly.

Fonzworth Bentley came through as well to throw a little preppy swag our way! The man and one of GQ’s Stylish Men Ever can do no wrong.  From the polka-dot shirt to the velvet slippers, it’s just enough to please the eye.  Hot!

Jermaine Dupri was spotted heading to the Maxim party in Miami this weekend flossing a  grown man steeze.  The pop of color in the sweater totally goes against the grain of such a gloomy season, and I couldn’t be more pleased.  His trousers fit him perfectly and subtly distressed brown shoes complete this hot look!

Lastly, The Queen herself also made her way onto the hot list while performing at the Super Bowl last night. That jacket is everything!  It gave her just the edge she needed to hit the stage and shut it down.  And the statement necklace completed this look for the diva herself.  Work it out, Miss Latifah!

In addition to seeing André lament about the ‘famine of beauty’ present in most contestants, it seems we can also look forward to new catchphrases as well as custom made Chado Ralph Rucci cloaks. Regarding his new phrase, he will debut the word ‘dreckitude,’ which apparently is, “a melding of dreck, one of his “favorite” words, and “quackitude,” a term he’d heard Rachel Maddow use on her show.” In the article, he goes on to explain, “Dreckitude’ was whipped out when I thought the challenge was not met or if [the contestants] showed up in perhaps an outfit that I just couldn’t wrap my mind around.”

And you know he’ll be showing out in the wardrobe department! He said, “I went to Ralph Rucci when I started this thing. We came up with these wonderful designs that are based on 17th-century Edo samurai tunic-coats. And Ralph, who is extraordinarily gifted, understood my desire to have something that would pop on TV.”
And pop he will. I know I live abroad, but I have to watch this. Say what you want, Talley knows fashion. I cannot wait for his overwhelmingly posh composure to clash with the middle American transplants for this season. This is what I call must see TV!

So today, in addition to our normal Style Inspirations, we’re going to offer cute Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas to all of you who are shopping on a budget.

While finger waves may have seen its origins in the 1920s, we all know it best as it was rocked in the 1990s by ’round-the-way girls and the bourgeoisie alike. For less than the price of two weeks allowance, fly girls (and gents–heyyyy) crammed into beauty shops on Every Corner, U.S.A. to get the gelled up and slicked down wavy ‘do. After the hair was washed, a stylist would then grab a fishtail comb, a gallon of gel, and get to work perfecting every little intricate wave.

Then you sat under the dryer until your waves hardened to a crisp and you had a ready-made style for a whole week (two if like Miss Jackson, you were nasty). Now if your stylist was really dope, she could hook you up with glitter and/or colors in your waves and O-M-G remember the “scrunch” with the finger waves?!?! A scandal.

Nowadays unless your name is Cleetus (ok, or Keyshia Cole), you probably are not rocking finger waves. However the style has taken on several reincarnations in the new millennium: today’s finger waves are much looser and can actually move.
