How to take care of your skin (With SkinWhite, I Can Be the Fairest of Them All)

I know most Filipinas would want to have a fairer complexion. When I was in my teenage years, I admit that I once wished that I am fairer. I also had pimples before and I had to find a way to prevent them. Admit it! They're not that pleasing, right? Then I discovered that some of my ways are skin crimes. As I grow a bit older, I realize that I need to love my own skin but I need to protect and take care of it.

Here are some tips that I want to share with you in taking good care of your skin.

SLEEP. Lack of sleep is a no-no! This might be hard for some of us especially for those in their senior years where you really have to stay late at night just to finish your thesis or presentation at school or if you're working this might be one of your problems. Lack of sleep can cause those nasty eyebags and can also trigger production of pimples. If you can't sleep for at least 7 hours during weekdays, then take advantage of your weekends! Sleep early and make sure that you're having a complete rest during Saturdays and Sundays. Don't get me wrong. I am not suggesting that you lay in your bed all weekend. All I'm saying is that at least for two days you've completed the minimum sleeping requirement, alright?

NEVER SLEEP WITH YOUR MAKEUP ON. Now, I have to say that this was one of my habits especially when I was around 16 or 17 years old. I am so lazy to wash my face and as my reward, I get acnes! Eeek! So never do this! Never! Makeup might clog your pores and when you wake up the next day... HELLO PIMPLES!

KEEP YOUR HAIR AWAY FROM YOUR FACE. You know how your hair can accumulate dirt, right? I always suggest to tie your hair. Pull it at the back and secure it in place with a ponytail. You can wear a pretty headband to style your simple ponytail. Keeping your hair away from your face will hep you prevent additional dirt from clogging your pores.

DO NOT POP YOUR PIMPLES. I know that it's a little tempting to pop your zit when you see it but try to resist the temptation darling. Popping your pimples can push dirt into the skin which might leave acne scars and even dark spots on your face.

PROTECT YOUR SKIN FROM MR. SUN. I use SkinWhite to protect my skin from the harmful UV ray. I love using SkinWhite because I don't feel sticky and it smells good too! I didn't know that it has synchrowhite action that works in four ways all the time. It whitens the skin's surface, reduces formation of new dark pigments, nourishes skin with vitamins and protects skin agains toxins and UV rays. I use the pink one and I'm using it until now.

Here's a funny and silly fact. I want to have a fairer skin before to impress my crush! Hahaha! Well, I guess we all go through that. LOL! Actually, my childhood crush noticed that I'm getting fairer and fairer every time we meet. SUCCESS! :P

OOTD x Fashion Challenge x Hair Braid

Hair Braid

Hahaha! I just want to brag that's why I made this post =))

I never (as in ever) tried braiding my own hair for the following reasons:

I can't see my hair.
When someone talks to me, I can't remember what the next step will be.
My arms tend to hurt because I do my hair style for a long time.
And in general, I'm just not fond of doing my own hair style.

So, I tried this earlier this morning and I think I did good for a first timer :) This is the first try and I'm so proud of myself :P

I want to try how good these brushes are :) I haven't really added any new brush in my makeup collection since I started doing makeup because I'm pretty satisfied with what I got :)

HEALTH: On fighting Glaucoma

I was invited to be one of the media who will cover a talk about glaucoma. Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend the said talk because of some schedule issues. I am advocating for an active and healthy lifestyle so I promised them (the organizers) that I will post their press release so I can still share what happened at the talk though I'm not physically there. Escaping the Darkness of Glaucoma

A bright future is meaningless to a country that is slowly being swallowed by a silent darkness. This irreversible darkness is plaguing many Filipinos today as glaucoma becomes more and more prevalent in the country.

Glaucoma, a blindness that is a permanent paralysis, is taken much too lightly. It is the country’s leading cause of bilateral irreversible blindness, according to the Philippine National Survey of blindness.

It slowly and gradually impairs vision. Like the dreaded disease, cancer, it has no cure and it commonly shows no signs in the early stages nor painful symptoms. Moreover, a small number of patients with glaucoma also experience episodes of eye pain, blurred vision, redness, headache, vomiting, and seeing rainbows around lights.

The disease permanently damages the optic nerve, which is what connects the eye to the brain, and causes a shrinking of the visual field.

There is no single diagnostic test for glaucoma. Early detection and treatment of glaucoma is important to control it. Once diagnosed, the unlucky patient must follow-up with their physicians for the rest of their lives.

Glaucoma is not picky. It can afflict a person regardless of age, health, or race. Glaucoma can occur at any age, but the most commonly affected are the older individuals.

Patients who are most likely to contract glaucoma usually have family history of the disease, high eye pressure, a previous eye injury, chronic steroid use and/or diabetes mellitus.

Early detection prevents blindness

It is often stated in medicine that prevention is better than cure. In the case of glaucoma, contracting the hereditary form of the disease may not be preventable but early diagnosis and treatment can certainly help prevent blindness.

LOOKBOOK: Almost Vacay

So, it's almost... almost vacation today! It's Wednesday and tomorrow is the start of a long weekend because of Holy Week. I want to get that vacation vibe at the office to I decided to wear shorts today :p (Hope the boss is okay with this haha)

So here's my look!

It's really hard for me to wear what I used to wear when I was still single because I'm so majuba (fat) now hahaha! Did you know that the shorts that I'm wearing in this outfit doesn't fit me at all hahaha! And because I'm Pinay and that we are naturally resourceful, I wore a belt haha! What I like about this denim shorts is that it has some ripped design in front and on its pockets. I also like how the denim was treated to get that "old shorts" effect.

Going back to this outfit, I wore another set of stackable bangles that I ordered from Mauve. They have pretty bangles available and some of them are on sale too! I used three bangles from the original set that I got from Mauve and paired it with my pink thin bangles from my friend, Tin. I want my accessories to somehow match my red outfit :P

Can you recall this sheer top? Yes, I wore it the Coke Concert ng Bayan. You can check my Lookbook post about it here. It's actually a long top so to give that "outdoor" and "summer-y" vibe to my top I tied a knot in front.

And this outfit wouldn't be complete without my silver sandals :P It's very comfy and perfect for summer!

LOOKBOOK: Tuesday Arm Candy + Nature Prints

Another Lookbook update and this time it's for two fashion challenges posted by Daniela. I am, seriously, one of her loyal readers. Bloggers need some inspiration too. Talk about writer's block hahaha!

So here's my look that you have to hype via Lookbook haha (ad baculum!)

For the first fashion challenge was about "Arm Candy." Basically, I have to wear different bracelets and bangles and style it. So here's my take on Arm Candy:

These are bangles from Mauve + my thin bangles (I don't know how to call it). It's basically two sets of bangles. First is the set of gold/brown tones and the other set is more of a neon inspired bangles. You can get something like this at Dress Etc too.

I also used my Boardwalk gladiator sandals to give that summer-y or laid back feel for my outfit. My sister-in-law gave this to me last year and I seldom use it.

For the second fashion challenge is to wear something that has nature print. I wore one of my favorite dresses from Forever 21. It has flower prints.

And by the way, this is how I look today:

This is actually my everyday makeup look :P Very natural, of course. I don't want heavy makeup while working :P I'll be blogging or vlogging about this one soon so better stay tuned for that :)
