I love a trench coat and you have been reading FD for a while then you have heard me rave about my water repellant trench from Target. I love the versatility of a basic trench, it adds a certain amount of chicness. I have been pinning quite a few winter looks with khaki trench coats. Since it was a bit chilly out but not enough for a thick coat this trench was perfect for the weather conditions. There are 1,000 ways to style a khaki trench coat. I paired mine with a basic yellow blouse and a printed pump. I like the contrast the bold pop of color made along with the printed pump. </p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p>‘</p> <p>For Christmas, I had a little visitor staying with me. I had quite a few days off from work and my mini me (my niece Mari) was out from school. She kept me busy all day and night with crafts, movies, playing, skating, the park etc. She is such a burst of energy. She accompanied me to a couple of my blogs shoots, so she will be making a couple of guest appearances. Her front teeth just came out, so she has been all upset because she thinks she looks weird. </p> <p>I gave her this trench coat ensemble for Christmas. I hope that your new year is off to an amazing start. I hope that your year is blessed and prosperous. I am soo thankful to you Devotee’s for your continued support and for bringing me into the new year with you all. </p> <p>I am going to be honest I have been so uninspired this fall/winter. I have so many looks that I want to wear but until a few days ago, it felt like summer here. It is so hard to stay fashion inspired for fall/winter in these weather conditions. We had a brief, emphasis on brief “chill front” (NO, it was not a cold front) pass through. I was obviously way to ecstatic, because I literally put on everything I could find that screamed winter. This ensemble is a result. </p> <p>I spotted this printed skirt on a clearance rack at Target. I loved the bold print and immediately thought it would be perfect for a print mixing look with stripes. I tried it on with every striped top I owned and to my dismay nothing worked. I spotted this striped top on clearance at Zara, I purchased it although it was too big in hopes that it might work. It was indeed a match. I paired it with a leather jacket because the piping on the skirt is faux leather and it was a nice accent. I added the faux fur scarf just playing around with my niece and it turned out to be hotness. </p> <p>I had no idea I would fall so deeply in love with this faux fur scarf. I literally want one in every color and I wish I could wear one every day. I will do do an updated post about that soon. On my board for this fall/winter was a Bebe advertisement that I took from a magazine. I loved the look and I owned all of the elements except for a cream blouse. I thought it would be perfect for me to recreate the look remixing it with items that I own. I searched all over the internet for the ad, I couldn’t find the entire ad but I did find a cropped version on the Bebe Facebook page. </p> <p></p> <p></p> <p>Let me tell you all about this blazer. I scored it on one of my many thrift adventures. It was too big. But it was a silk Saks Fifth Ave boyfriend blazer for $3, so I took it to my seamstress and she altered it for me. </p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p>I love this look and how it turned out. One of the things that I love about the fall/winter months is that I tend to like edgier looks. The shoes I happened to catch on a major mark down so I have them in two colors. I feel like I am so late getting on the hi-lo bandwagon. I have been looking for a hi-lo dress or skirt for a while but I was not able to find anything that was flattering on me. I was convinced that the hi-lo trend was not for me until I found this magenta, sheer soft pleated, dress. I know you guys must think that all I own is soft pleats. But, the truth of the matter is soft pleats work for me. I am a firm believer in finding what works for you and using it to your advantage. The striking thing about this blazer is the sheer back. Unfortunately, that detail is missed in the photos because I am wearing something underneath. I will be sure to try and capture that the next time I wear it. </p> <p>This is random but I love me some TJ Maxx and Marshall’s, every city I visit I find my way to these two stores. My sister/friend Brittany over at <a href="http://clumpsofmascara.com/" target="_blank">Clumps of Mascara</a> had her baby shower for Baby Clumps this Saturday and I wore this to her shower. Oddly enough I showed up to the shower and we were both wearing magenta. She looks at me and she says “I like that lipstick” and I proceed to say it is MAC pomposity. Turns out we were wearing the same the color dress and the same lipstick. Immediately following the shower we went to the Blogger Preview for the Makeup Show Orlando, we got a bag full goodies that I will share with you all on a later post. </p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p>Below are a ffew of the lovely ladies outside of the shower including BriBri and baby Clumps and Maria from <a href="http://www.cultnails.com/" target="_blank">Cult Nails</a>. </p> <p></p> <p>I got so caught up in the moments I forgot to snap pictures of what I bought baby Clumps. I could not imagine having a daughter. I wanted to buy every pink frilly think I saw. Below is one snapshot of a pink tulle onesie I bought her. Isn’t it the cutest? I hope that everyone’s week is off to an amazing start. This is my all time favorite cardigan that I own. I received it as Christmas gift a few years ago from my parents and I absolutely love it. It is my statement cardigan, it has so many bells and whistles. The large buttons, ruffle collar, the colors and the varying sized stripes. I have only worn it a couple of times but I feel amazing every time I do. I paired it with my favorite turtle neck sweater dress. I have had this sweater dress for at least 3 years and I wish I had purchased several of them. I wear this dress so much throughout that fall and winter months. The fit is amazing and it is just easy. You can can pair it with a blazer or cardigan and some tights and you are ready to go. I never travel anywhere during this time of year without it. I have searched high and low for a replacement but everything I find comes up short.
