Let's start with the bargain since it's early and I don't want to give anyone a heart attack with insane four figure price tags (see Celine Luggage Tote). Instead, let's get warmed up here with a fab find from Aldo. The Hipps bag shares a shape we are all too familiar with and sports a hot trend this season - neon piping. At only £50 it's a gorgeous piece that will have street style snappers chasing you down the street as you make your way to the shows.

Hmmm, so maybe Karl Lagerfeld isn't good at everything after all. Released yesterday, this is the newest artistic piece from Uncle Karl which features Alice Dellal showing off her new Chanel toys in "My New Friend Boy." We'd like to be able to tell you what the film's about but we don't have a clue. Seems Alice might be tormented by something but there's no clear indication of what. Did she really want the bag in a navy blue and is upset it only came in black and white? Is she pissed off that she has holes in her favourite pair of tights? Or maybe Karl accurately captured her wondering what the hell she is supposed to be doing in this video. At least the handbags are nice... and at the end of the day that's what this mini film is for... to sell handbags...

The Kate Middleton effect on fashion has been felt the world over but in no location more prominently than the UK. Kate regularly wears UK High Street and causes mass chaos as soon as the pictures hit the wires. Dresses, sweaters, coats and bags have all become instant sell outs as soon as someone tweets where to find what Kate's wearing or carrying. So what's a retailer to do if they want a piece of the action? Well, Banana Republic may have found the recipe for success.

Remember The Duchess of Cambridge's Reiss dress she wore to meet The President and First Lady of the United States? It sold out in hours and hit eBay commanding ridiculous prices within days. Everyone wanted that lovely ladylike sheath for high teas with mothers in laws or special events with the boyfriend's boss and wife. It was a gorgeous and simple design and the price point was just about perfect. But, it's sold out and that's that. Only it isn't....

Banana Republic were clearly "inspired" by the design as they've just recently launched the "Kate Sheath" which is currently on sale for $130 and comes in both black and the nude colour that Kate made famous. We've seen high street copying high end but this has to be a first for high street covering high street. It's an interesting take on things and even more interesting that while BR call their dress the Kate, use models that look like Kate to advertise the dress and even accessorize the Kate similar to the way in which the Duchess wore it first, they do not make any direct reference to the fact that the garment is in fact inspired by Prince William's wife.

So what enquiring minds really want to know is if you'll be buying it?

A few years ago now I had the great pleasure in meeting the Queen of vintage herself... Miss Naomi Thompson. My first impression was one I'll never forget. This was a woman who embraced a fabulous vintage look and made me immediately think I had entered some sort of time warp. I was envious of her incredible talent for seeking out fabulous items and making her ensembles look amazingly unique and of a different time entirely. And of course I'm always the last to know about these fabulous individuals in London it seems. Naomi has actually been featured just about everywhere you can imagine when it comes to print from Vogue to the Sunday Times Style Magazine. As a stylist and personal shopper, Naomi knows her vintage better than nearly anyone else I can think of in this industry. That might be why she also runs a successful online venture www.vintagesecret.com and has recently published a book all about buying vintage. Naomi recently sent me over a copy of Style Me Vintage: Clothes: A Guide to Sourcing and Creating Retro Looks to review.

Up until today I couldn't tell you the first thing about buying vintage or putting a vintage look together. I'm a newbie girl. And you know what? Shame on me for being that way. After reading Naomi's book I've come away inspired and ready to take on the hunt. Although, I've just had a thought. If I'm telling you about this and you go buy the book and learn all the same secrets, we'll be in direct competition. I obviously didn't think this out too well. All that aside, if you are interested in jumping into vintage, this is a great book to buy. It's also a great book for those who already adore vintage and want to learn more about how and where to buy!

First Look: Anna Sui for Coach!

As I write there are Anna Sui for Coach bags sitting backstage waiting to make their debut at the Anna Sui show this evening in New York at 6pm. Coach have given us a first look at what we can expect with this exclusive sketch of the collaboration and we're loving what we see. Two iconic Duffle Sacs have been completely made over by Anna Sui and feature a Fleur-de-Lis design on one and a Dragonfly on the other. These are limited editions runs and each bag will be numbered, decorated with signature handtags and come with a removable interior logo wristlet.

“Coach’s iconic Duffle handbag represents such a significant part of their history,” says Anna. “It’s truly an honor to put my own spin on this seminal design. The Anna Sui version adds a Boho feeling with whip-stitching, big tassels and appliquéd art nouveau dragonflies.”

There was a new, tougher Vera Wang presented in New York this week for autumn winter 2012. The collection that walked the runway had a harder edge to it and felt as if it was heading in the direction of Rick Owens or Helmut Lang. However, Wang herself has been embracing this sort of style for years in her own personal wardrobe so why shouldn't we see it move on to the catwalk? We saw less "ladylike" and more "new world" with a wonderful variety of pieces that will work well for layering later this year when the weather turns nasty again. And can I just say....totally swooning over the massive fur collar!!

I don't imagine it gets much more preppy than Milly for Sperry Top-Sider. In fact, if they were re-writing the preppy handbook, I'd say this collaboration would definitely have a highlighted spot in the fashion section. Prepsters up and down the East Coast are no doubt waiting by the front door for their preferred summer footwear to arrived. And of course said footwear could only consist of neon boat shoes, laceless nautical print sneakers or Conard wedges from this fabulous collaboration. In fact, a pair or two should be making their way to my home on the East Coast as we speak. I'll be ready to slip them on and skip down the dock looking stylish and feeling suitably fashionable on summer vacation. Prices start at $90 and they're already starting to sell out so if you're game, get buying.

J Crew Autumn Winter 2012

You will have already read about the exciting news of J. Crew and Manolo Blahnik but that's just one tenth of the good news coming from the J. Crew camp this season. The clothes themselves are the real stars of the show with preppy textured methodical madness... or at least that's how we're describing their most recent presentation at New York Fashion Week. Leave it to Jenna Lyons to put together textures and prints in ways we never even imagined and with pieces that are often so classic and basic that you are amazed when you finally see them hanging on the rack solo.

What we all wish we were actually buying, every time we walk into a J.Crew store, is Jenna's style. It's become a way of dressing and in fact should receive it's own "style reference" like one says about dressing "prep" or "boho chic"...J. Crew have given us the "Lyons" look and each season it's presented with new textures and shapes that keep us coming back and begging for more.

UPDATE: Telegraph has just published a story where they got the inside track that J Crew is in fact opening a retail store in London... here's the quote straight from Jenna Lyons: "We're looking at spaces on Regent Street. And I wouldn't mind being in Covent Garden for a smaller store. It won't be just one store - we're not gonna be stingy."

Brunch at Le Pain Quotidien at Westfield London

Last weekend was a big shopping weekend for me. It's the week before fashion week and it means I have a lot of outfit planning to do. While most of the major pieces are ready to go, I was out and about looking for the right accessories and basics to accompany new designer goods. My adventures began in Westfield London and I needed fuel to begin the shopping extravaganza. So brunch was on the cards and there's no better place than Le Pain Quotidien for such an event. The dishes that were served up were so gorgeous I couldn't help but drag out the camera and capture our perfect morning. All brunches start with the largest possible coffee on the menu and Le Pain certainly does dish up the caffeine. You have to use two hands to lift this bowl to your lips! Follow that with fresh berries and the fluffiest scone on earth and you can imagine I was in second heaven. Now my only problem is how the heck I'm going to fit into that Mulberry dress this weekend! Seriously, folks, be armed with some serious will power when you come here. The pastries along will drive you over the edge. Temptation is found at every turn!

Nearly two years ago (March 2010) Jenna Lyons was interviewed by the fashionable gurus at Style.com. In her interview she was asked who she'd like to work with for J.Crew. Her response sent ripples through the fashion world...."What we’d really like to do, especially for women’s, is a shoe collaboration where we maybe go to someone like Manolo Blahnik or Christian Louboutin. " Well, it seems Jenna Lyons is a woman who never makes empty statements. WWD just announced on twitter that a collaboration is in the works and will debut online in the fall!!!!

Don't you just love when two stylish women come together to make your job so much easier? Instead of sourcing two pictures, Gwyneth has made it easy for us to talk about our top two looks from the 2012 Grammy awards by posting a picture of the winners together. Hands down, the dresses we loved the most from the red carpet came courtesy of Rihanna in Giorgio Armani and Gwyneth Paltrow in Stella McCartney. Both ladies showed off some seriously darling cut outs in their choice of attire for the evening. Hey, my momma always used to say "if you've got it, flaunt it."
