First, if you were recently dumped learn to keep your emotions in check. By that I mean you need to avoid calling, texting or emailing her constantly begging for another chance. The best course of action at this point is to just stay cool.

Don’t initiate any contact with her at all. If you come across as clingy, desperate or needy it will just push her farther away.

Don’t sit around thinking about what you did, or didn’t do to please her. A lot of times they themselves don’t even know why they broke up with you. Unless you are aware of something that you were responsible for that caused her to break up with you, don’t dwell on what might have been.

Now if you did do something that you feel you need to apologize for, it might be ok to send her a simple, and short note telling her you’re sorry.. That’s it! No long, rambling begging and pleading letters.

Go out with your friends and enjoy yourself, but avoid boring them with all the sticky details of what happened. What you want to do is take your mind off of things for a while and get your head on straight again. You cannot do it if you are constantly talking about her with everyone else. You must present the image that nothing in the world is wrong, even if you don’t feel that way inside.

When some time has passed it might be time to start thinking about what you can do to increase your chances of getting her back in your life again. if you truly think she is the right person for you, and if she hasn’t moved on with someone else then there is a very good chance you can get your ex girlfriend back.
