Last Saturday, I went on a little road trip to one of the most beautiful castles in Croatia - Trakošćan. Surrounded by lush greenery and a peaceful lake, it was the perfect day-trip escape (even if my outfit was more Y2K pop star than medieval lady).

We also made a spontaneous stop at Roses Fashion Outlet, which turned out to be… let’s just say, not quite the shopping haven we hoped for. But I did manage to score one cute thing, so not a total fail!
At the end of the vlog, I’m also sharing a peek at what I’m currently reading. If you’re into books, you might want to stick around for that part too.

This bag was seriously one of my best purchases ever! I've had it for about two years now, and I can tell you it's my most worn bag. The quality of the leather is amazing, it looks so chic and expensive, fits just the right amount of things, and goes well with everything. Honestly, I can't recommend it enough.

One of the best things about this outfit is its versatility. ZAGREBDOX 2024

Something you might not know about me is that I'm a big movie buff. I have been really interested in movies and the movie industry since I was kid, so it was my pleasure to have the opportunity to watch some of this year's documentary movies at ZagrebDox.

Today I'm bringing you content that is a little bit different from my usual content. However, I'm still showing you outfits I wore haha, so it counts. All jokes aside, I have always wanted to visit this film festival in my city, but I just never got the chance before. It was refreshing to watch some documentary films that you don't usually get a chance to watch, since they are not played at the cinema, or major streaming platforms.

What is ZagrebDox?

ZagrebDox is an international documentary film festival taking place in Zagreb every year. Launched in 2005, the festival is intended to provide audiences and experts insight into recent documentary films, stimulate national documentary production and boost international and regional cooperation in co-productions. ZagrebDox is a specialized festival that presents the best creative documentary films whose imaginative form and choice of topics make it unique in Croatia and Europe. Since 2022 ZagrebDox is the only Croatian film festival whose winner is automatically nominated for the European Film Academy annual award.

The documentary films I watched

I watched 4 films all together at ZagrebDox this year; 2 on Wednesday, 1 on Thursday and 1 on Saturday. There are dozens of films being shown each day, so it's quite difficult to choose which ones to watch. I have a full time job and other obligations, so that meant that I could only go in the evenings most days. I read a bit about all the movies that were being shown at times I could attend, and I chose the ones that sounded the most intriguing to me.

Magic Mountain

My rating: 3/5

What happens to us when we try to erase our past because we fear societal stereotypes? After recovering from tuberculosis Mariam has a recurring nightmare, that lasts seven years, about being kept high up in the mountains, in the middle of the forest in an old palace called Abastumani where outcasts live. One day, Mariam goes to meet the secret community to overcome her fear. Working on this film, the directors realised that Abastumani wasn't just hiding a small society, but was also a Pandora's box of Georgia's past. The building shares a forgotten story that was never told, and the ghosts of the past reveal something much more sinister than Mariam’s personal nightmare: they expose the nightmare of a whole country.

My thoughts

After reading the description of this movie, I somehow thought it would be something completely different from what it actually was. I thought we would follow Mariam's story, her journey with tuberculosis and how her story relates to this hidden hospital in the Georgian mountains. However, she had never been there before filming this movie, and the story actually shows the lives of all the people who live there because they have not been able to get cured from tuberculosis. The film was very interesting, as I never knew something like this existed, and I think it does a great job at setting the grim, unsettling atmosphere from the beginning.

The people living there are 80% older men from the edge of society, some of them criminals, and generally not very pleasant people. It was unnerving watching how some of them treat other people and animals.

What I think is missing from this movie is context. I know people can still get tuberculosis today, but it's very rare to see this in developed countries, especially in Europe. We didn't really get an explanation about why there are so many cases of tuberculosis in Georgia. Is it something that's still happening? Is it specific for the region where the film was shot? Why is it happening? I felt like we were just dropped into this dystopian hospital in Georgia that is specialized in tuberculosis as if it was the most normal thing, when I think most people would be surprised a hospital like this even exists in this day and age.

High & Low - John Galliano

My rating: 4.5/5

From the mid 1980’s until 2011 John Galliano, the flamboyant, iconoclastic head designer at Dior, was considered one of the most important fashion designers in history. But in February 2011 a video emerged of Galliano spewing anti-Semitic slurs in a Parisian bar. He was fired by Dior, berated by the Jewish community and ostracised from the fashion world. He lost everything. And then he tried to make amends. Directed by Academy-Award winning Kevin Macdonald and featuring candid interviews with Galliano and others, including Sidney Toledano, Kate Moss, Boris Cyrulnik, Penelope Cruz and Charlize Theron, the film is not only the story of a troubled and talented man but also poses a question: do we ever truly know what’s going on inside our own minds?

My thoughts:

I have been a fan of John Galliano since I was a kid, and when that scandal happened in 2011, I really didn't know what to think of him anymore. I was appalled by what he said, and then he just disappeared and became a persona non grata in the fashion industry. I didn't really follow the case later and had no idea about the details of the case, and what happened later. After I watched this movie, I realized I actually didn't know that much about him. The documentary does and amazing job in exploring his early life, his fashion beginnings, his rise to fame, as well as his downfall.

I was impressed by the amount of people Kevin Macdonald managed to interview for this film - he showed us what John's friends think, as well as the people he hurt with his words and actions. Even though it's obvious he has done a lot over the last 10 years to redeem himself, and he has started working and designing again, the film leaves it up to the viewers to decided whether they think he should be forgiven or not. This is what I like about this film - it doesn't feel like you're forced into forgiving him or not; it's totally up to you. He is certainly a very complicated person, as most of us are, and the story is not black and white. If you get a chance to watch this film somewhere, I highly recommend it - especially if you're a fashion lover like me!

A Storm Foretold

My rating: 3.5/5

Trump's longtime adviser Roger Stone maneuvers in and out of filmmaker Christoffer Guldbrandsen's grasp in this jaw-dropping portrait of a puppet master tangled in his own strings. The film captures the combination of toxicity, duplicity and candor that makes Stone such an influential and dangerous figure on the US political landscape. It’s an important, remarkable, at times terrifying, film. It reveals that Stone and his set play at presidential politics like it’s their private game. And not the 3D chess they’d like you to believe, but something far less strategically sophisticated — a round of kids’ Monopoly, perhaps, in which the only things for sure are that Roger Stone always plays as the top hat and he always gets out of jail free.

My thoughts:

I went into this film knowing it would piss me off, and I was not wrong. As someone who doesn't support Trump at all, I find his political games behind the scenes absolutely revolting. I'm not American, so I try to stay neutral, but it's difficult to stay neutral about someone like Trump and all the people he surrounds himself with. This film was shocking to watch at times. I wasn't that surprised by all the games and manipulation, because that is to be expected in politics. Still, seeing how far this goes in the US, is absolutely wild. Two things shocked me the most: the absolute hell that that director went through to create this film (he even got caught up in the January 6 riots!), and the fact that Roger Stone thought of the whole "stolen election" tactic several years before the 2020 election! This was the narrative he wanted to spin for the 2016 election in case Trump loses, but since he won, Stone kept that idea for another time. 2020 came, Trump lost, and they decided to use this vile and desperate tactic to try to convince the country how the election was stolen somehow.

It's horrible to see what these politicians are capable of doing. However, the movie was intriguing to watch. I wish we got a better ending, and managed to find out what happened with Stone after it all ended. Of course we can Google it, but it would have been nice to have a closure in the movie.

Another Body

My rating: 3/5

Another Body follows American college student Taylor’s search for answers and justice after she discovers deepfake pornography of herself circulating online. She dives headfirst into the underground world of deepfakes, and discovers a growing culture of men terrorizing women—influencers, classmates, friends. More than just a cautionary tale about misused technology and the toxicity of the online world, this documentary transforms the deepfake technology weaponized against Taylor into a tool that allows her to tell her story and reclaim her identity. Through candid video diaries, synthetic media, and 2D and 3D animation, the film takes you into her online and offline worlds, humanizing a vast social issue in a compelling personal story.

My thoughts:

I chose to watch this film because the topic is very current, and frankly - really scary. I recently had a conversation with a friends about AI and deepfakes, and how scary it all is. It can be used for good and bad, just like any other technology, but we have reached a point where it's all getting really scary. Even though this film was intriguing to watch (and terrifying!), I thought it lacked depth, and it was a bit all over the place. The first part of the movie was quite slow and boring at times, which is weird since the topic is so crazy. The film felt very home-made and amateur, which I know it was, but it fel like it could have been someone's school project. Maybe that was the point - however I expect a bit more from a documentary film being shown at a film festival. It felt like I was watching a vlog on Youtube or something. The pace picks up in the second part of the film, and a famous Youtuber Gibi ASMR gets involved, as they made porn deepfakes of her too. I was shocked to see her, as I know her videos very well. The second part was a lot more interesting, and somehow seemed more professional.

To conclude, I think this is a very important topic that should be talked about. It's good that this film was made to raise awareness and give the girl who has experienced this a voice to tell her story. However, I also think it could use some improvements.

My outfits

ZagrebDox is a very chill and low-key film festival. People dress in casual clothes, and it's rare to see someone dressed up. I chose to wear chic dressy outfits, because that's my style, and I think this is appropriate for an occasion like this. Even though I wouldn't say my outfits were fancy or anything, I can tell you I was a bit overdressed every day I went haha! I don't mind though, I'm used to it. That's just who I am, and how I dress. This is the beauty of fashion - everyone can express themselves how they want to.

Spring is in the air (and so is fashion 😜), and what better way to welcome the season than with a dash of timeless elegance? I'm excited to share this early Spring look featuring a white tennis skirt, which shows you how you can easily wear it with a chunky sweater.

Spring is a season of rebirth and renewal, a time when nature blooms with vibrant colors and fresh beginnings. It's also the perfect opportunity to infuse our wardrobes with a sense of timeless elegance that transcends trends. This ensemble effortlessly captures the essence of Spring with its crisp whites, earthy neutrals, and subtle nods to classic sophistication.

The outfit

In my opinion, this is a perfect early Spring outfit - combining something that is usually considered more "summery" like a tennis skirt, with a chunky oversized sweater or a turtleneck in this case.

One thing about me is that I love a good tennis skirt. Tennis skirts are reminiscent of leisurely afternoons spent on the courts of elite country clubs, whether you're actually playing tennis or just looking the part; because we all know that can be fun as well!

Early Spring can still be quite chilly, so in order to wear a tennis skirt during this period, you need to wear it with something warmer. Chunky sweaters are a good option as they fit the "old money" Ralph Lauren aesthetic perfectly, while making sure you stay warm. You could easily pair this ensemble with sneakers as well, but I wanted to add a touch of western style, so I opet for these subtle ankle cowboy boots.

No outfit is complete without accessories. In this case, my main accessories were the Versace sunglasses and the cognac Ralph Lauren shoulder bag. Crafted from supple leather and adorned with the brand's iconic insignia, this bag exudes understated luxury with every stitch. Its rich hue complements the neutral palette of the outfit, adding a touch of sophistication to every step.

I am back, and unsure at the moment how often I will post, but I would like it to be twice a week.

If you follow me on Instagram or TikTok, you might have already seen some parts of this outfit, but not the details and not the context. There's something undeniably sophisticated about an all black ensemble. It's timeless, versatile, and exudes an air of effortless cool. As we transition into early Spring, there's no better time to embrace the sleek simplicity of black attire. Today, I'm excited to share with you my take on the classic all black outfit, complete with stylish gold accents and perfect for those crisp early Spring days.

The outfit

For this look, I opted for a combination of black staples that seamlessly blend comfort and style. Starting from the bottom up, I'm wearing a pair of black trousers that have been one of my favorite wardrobe staples, even though they are so affordable. I do want to invest in a good pair of black trousers that will last a long time, but at the moment, I'm loving these. Paired with chunky black boots, these trousers add an edgy touch to the look while keeping me ready for whatever the day brings.

On top, I've chosen a black knit sleeveless turtleneck, perfect for layering and adding warmth without bulk. The sleeveless design keeps the silhouette streamlined, while the turtleneck adds a touch of sophistication to the overall look. Layered over the turtleneck is an oversized black blazer, adding structure to the outfit. The oversized fit adds an element of casual chic, perfect for transitioning from day to night with ease. Why did I just now realize that I'm dressed like The Weeknd in the Popular music video?? Haha, well the man has style, no one can deny it!

No all black outfit would be complete without the right accessories to tie it all together. I opted for gold jewelry to add a touch of glamour and elevate the look. Layering necklaces is one of my favorite ways to make an outfit look more fashionable quickly! I'm wearing two Hey Happiness necklaces: Pearl pendant necklace and Pearl pendant Y necklace, together with a 14k gold chain I inherited.

I bought this COS leather shoulder bag around 6 months ago, and it was genuinely one of the best purchases. I get so much use out of it! It's suprisingly spacious, goes well with everything, and I get so many compliments on it. Unfortunately, this exact one is sold out, but I will find similar options for you.

It seems like just a few years ago pearls were considered the type of jewelry that your grandma would wear, and now they are considered cool and trendy. As all trends, they rise in popularity in cycles, hence what was grandma's old jewelry yesterday, is the hottest trend today!

Celebrities like Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, Dua Lipa, Bella Hadid, and Justin Timberlake have been spotted rocking pearl necklaces on and off the red carpet, while influencers like Madison Beer, Chiara Ferragni, and The Man Repeller regularly incorporate pearls into their street style looks.

I have noticed a huge comeback of pearl necklaces a few years ago when Harry Styles started wearing them regularly, and about the same time Vivienne Westwood iconic faux pearl necklaces started going viral on TikTok. It seems like some people discovered the legendary Mini Bas Relief choker by Vivienne Westwood for the first time and went crazy about it. The necklace was constantly sold out and impossible to get for a period of time. I remember how much I wanted to get it, and I had to wait months for an opportunity to finally grab it before it was gone again! Even though this is costume jewelry, the shape and design is iconic to the fashion house, and with right maintenance, you really can have this piece for years and years. Another great example of faux pearls are obviously Chanel pearls. FUN ONLINE HOBBIES FOR FALL

As the weather gets colder, we tend to spend more and more time inside. The rain and the clouds can affect our mood sometimes, and we want to just stay inside where it's warm and cozy. I don't know about you, but I always find myself trying to find some exciting activities to do in my free time during the colder months. If I decided to stay home, sometimes I don't just want to watch a movie or a series, but do something that's more interactive and requires more of my effort. However, sometimes we can't think of anything fun, creative and interactive, so we end up doing the same old thing.

I was determined to try some hobbies I don't usually do, and I came across Culinary Schools games. These games are technically for kids, but honestly, anyone can play them. They are super fun and creative, and the perfect option for relaxing when you need to give your brain a break. I started playing several games that hooked me in right away, and now it's such a cool activity I like to do sometimes when I'm at home.

Here are a couple of my favorites.

Scooby Doo Doo Good Food Frenzy

When I was a child Scooby Doo was one of my favorite cartoons, so when I saw there is a pacman style Scooby Doo inspired game, I just had to try it. In this game you have to collect vegetables and eat snack while avoiding monsters and holes. Each level gets harder and harder, but it's super fun!

Tom & Jerry Parade Pranks

Another childhood favorite - Tom & Jerry. I watched this cartoon so much when I was a child, that I knew some epsiodes by heart. This is a cute version of the snake game where you play as Jerry inside of the head of a Chinese dragon. You have to collect pieces of cheese and each level brings new challenges. It definitely takes time to get used to playing with arrow keys if you don't do it usually, but once you do, it's super fun!

FUN ACTIVITIES FOR YOUR FREE TIME

Hello everyone!

As we all know, free time is precious. We all lead very busy lives, hence it is very important to relax and have some fun during our free time. The worst thing you can do is waste your free time, and later regret that you didn't do anything that makes you feel happy, excited, or relaxed. This is the reason why I like to diversify what I do in my free time. Every day is an opportunity to do something different or try a new activity. I think this is definitely a good way to look forward and to start living your 2023 in this way. You will feel more accomplished and fulfilled even in your free time.

These are some ideas for when you can't think of what to do in your time off.

Exercise

It may seem like an obvious choice, but many people tend to forget how important exercise is for your physical and mental health. Completely neglecting exercise can lead to so many problems, hence it's best to prevent it. My exercise of choice is usually yoga or taking a long walk, but it can be literally anything. Moving your body even 30 minutes per day can make a huge difference! This is especially important if you have a job which requires a lot of sitting, like I do.

Online games

Online games can be such a fun activity to occasionally do in your free time! There are numerous games you can find online and play, depending on what you're interested in. If you have kids, it might be a great idea to include them as well, especially if the games are also educational. On the other hand, you can play online games with your friends as well, which makes it extra fun. I recently came across a few fun and educational games I have been playing, and I'd like to share them as suggestions for you.

The game called Idle Money Tree caught my attention because it's so simple and self-explanatory. It makes it the perfect indoor activity for when you're done with work and maybe the weather is horrible outside. You don't have to think too much about solving complicated problems in this game, which is great after a long day at work or school. Still, it will keep your mind awake and test your speed and reflexes.

Sort the trash is an environmental game that teaches you which items are recyclable and which are not. You have to catch the trash that can be recycled in your bin, and let the other trash pass by. This would be an amazing game to teach your kids about recycling, while also making it fun!

Spending time with friends

For me, this is the best way to recharge my energy. Nothing is better than being surrounded by people you care about and who care about you and just spend quality time with them. Laughing can cure a lot of sadness and depression, and your friends will most likely always be happy to help with that. Whether you organize a special activity with your friends, or you just have a coffee, hang out, and talk, spending time with friends is one of the best fun activities for your free time.

Get creative

There are so many ways you can explore your creativity. Creativity is good for mind, body and soul, so I would definitely recommend exploring it as a fun activity in your free time. Personally, I love photography, so I spend a lot of time taking and editing photos. I also enjoy drawing/sketching so sometimes I do a bit of that in my free time as well. Whether it's drawing, writing, taking photos, filming videos, taking up a painting class, or anything else, find your creative bone and it will bring out the positive vibes!

In addition to taking care of medical issues as they arise, you should also make sure that you're getting enough exercise, rest, and eating properly. Letting yourself go isn't doing anyone any favors, including your kids. They need you around for a long time to come, so make sure that you're keeping yourself in good health.

Spend Time With Friends

As a mom, it's easy to find yourself isolated from your friends. After all, our children depend on us every day, particularly during the younger years so finding time to socialize isn’t always easy. However, it's important that you surround yourself with a support system full of friends you can rely on.

Make time for coffee dates, dinners, or even going for a walk with the people you love. This will give you an opportunity to unload, and talk about any frustrations that arise, because as we know, as mothers, frustrations can certainly come up.

Prioritize “Me” Time

At the end of the day it's important that you have time all to yourself. Whether it's for taking a bath or reading a book, “me” time is a critical part of recharging your battery as a mom. Once the kids are in bed, make sure that you carve out a little time for yourself before you go to bed and wake up and do it all over again. Unwinding is a critical part of each day, and without it, you would eventually burn out.

Laugh

They say that laughter is the best medicine, and it's no secret that parenting can put a lot of pressure on us. It's critical that you find time to laugh to release the tension. Perhaps it's calling a friend and having a chuckle with them, or simply putting on a funny video.

It also helps to find laughter with your children. Be silly, don't take everything so seriously, and remember, nothing is permanent and this too shall pass!
