Louis Vuitton Ailleurs Beach Collection Brings Tropical Prints To Summer 2011

Louis Vuitton collaborated with Pippa Cunningham, an English artist, on three distinctive tropical prints for their Summer 2011 Ailleurs beach collection.

Prints Escale, Promenade and Aventure come on totes, scarfs, beach towels, bikinis, a strapless dress and even interpreted on key-chains. Pretty much anything you would need on a hot summer day. The tote prices will range from $1430 to 1800 and the Ailleurs collection is set to reach Louis Vuitton stores by April 15th.

Karen Elson In Vogue April 2011 “Form & Function” Editorial

Lily Allen Designs Lucy In Disguise Collection Inspired By Favorite Vintage Pieces

Lucy In Disguise, the vintage store Lily Allen opened with her sister, Sarah Owen, last year (currently being featured in Lily Allen: Riches to Rags documentary) is getting a new vintage items addition. The Lucy In Disguise collection will consist of vintage inspired dresses featuring Lily and Sarah's favorite details from vintage pieces mixed together. If some of the looks seem familiar it's probably because you've seen the originals on Lily, like that sailor suit or the many maxi dresses. This is essentially what Rachel Zoe did with her own vintage inspired collection, although she probably kept some looks too close to the originals.

All of the dresses in Lucy In Disguise collection will have names like Capone, Fornums, Chatsworth, taking after important places and people signifying different time periods. The print on the Fortnums dress, a Forties-style shift, was created specially for the collection.

The 18-piece collection is expected to retail at the range of $175 to $630 and in the U.S will be available exclusively on shopbop.com in June. Harvey Nichols will stock the collection in the U.K and Le Bon Marché in France. Of course you will also be able to buy the dresses at lucyindisguiselondon.com.

Marc Jacobs Spring 2011 Fashion Film Features 10 Shameless Product Placements

Marc Jacobs Spring 2011 collection was captured on film in video lookbook of sorts by Kalvin Lazarte of Play Nice. Three models having fun, countless Marc Jacobs bags, shoes and clothes, a beautiful hotel and Seventies vibe, what more could you need, right? Well, apparently a lot of product placements.

Of course since the filming takes place at the James Hotel in New York, a clear shot of the hotel logo is acceptable and even somewhat expected. However, nine additional and quite obvious product placements bring us to a total of ten product placements in a three minutes time span. This Marc Jacobs lookbook pretty much paid for itself in the first few seconds with a nice, clear shot of an American Express card. Then came Apple, Dior, Taittinger, Fujifilm, Polaroid, Condé Nast, LG and various books.

The music in the video, by the way, is Ring Ring by Sleigh Bells who hopefully were paid very well.

Crystal Renn was photographed by David Roemer for Vogue Mexico April 2011 cover and the accompanying editorial, making it Renn's Vogue cover debut.

The editorial showcases a hot trend this summer - neons. Although Vogue Mexico took it more into the Eighties realm and the styling of the close-ups looks rather tacky, Renn herself looks gorgeous.

Q&A With Michelle Ng – Creative Director Of Young&ng Jewelry

Young&ng jewelry is the brainchild of designer Michelle Ng. Her second collection to date -Fall 2011- was inspired by the intricacy of the human body (blood cells, bones and muscles) and debuted to public, very appropriately I must say, at the BODIES Exhibition here in New York. Be it the little red Swarovski crystals resembling blood cells or metalwork mimicking the bone matrix, Young&ng headpieces and cuffs are definitely making a statement with each piece being a wearable art.

Having received a formal art training at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, Michelle Ng walks the fine line between art and fashion, creating unique but accessible jewelry. With two beautiful Young&ng collections under her belt, to say we expect great things from her would be an understatement.

Shao Yen Fall 2011 Collection Debuts Fur And Crystals

Sha Yen presented his Fall 2011 collection during London Fashion Week, showing his incredible development as a designer over the year. Last year's Fall 2010 collection was highly conceptual - all white nylon fibers creating the illusion of fur got him noticed and featured in Dazed & Confused. Fall 2011 is much more versatile.

For his Fall 2011 collection, Shao Yen used wool, fur and crystal jewelry elements and left out the nylon yarns he's been doing for the past two seasons, thus creating much more wearable and functional looks. Be it the saffron knit dress, the navy cropped sweater or the crystal jewelry vest, they are all pieces a girl would love to have in her wardrobe.

Shao-Yen Chen is a London based knits designer born in Taiwan. Although a fresh graduate of the Masters Program of Fashion at the prestigious school of Central Saint Martins, he already has internships at Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan and Claire Tough under his belt.

Carine Roitfeld To Style And Inspire Barneys New York Fall 2011 Campaign

Carine Roitfeld's first project since leaving French Vogue has been revealed and it's not her and Tom Ford taking over Dior. So the overreaching rumors can stop.

Roitfeld will style and even serve as somewhat of an inspiration for Barneys New York Fall 2011 advertising campaign and catalogue. She will even style the store's Madison Avenue windows. All these will be unveiled in September.

Barneys New York tapped Mario Sorrenti to photograph the campaign and catalogue in two locations - New York and Paris. And it is Roitfeld's laid back and cool Parisian attitude which will set the mood. Barneys creative director Dennis Freedman says of Roitfeld, "She is the ideal muse as well as editor. She has a unique and extraordinary personal style. She appeals to all ages. She is independent and strong, and yet she is completely feminine. She is a woman of the world, which we like to think our customer is, as well."

Roitfeld on her part is excited about the project as well. For her, "Barneys has always been the biggest name in luxury department stores, so to be able to participate in this project with them, and be visible during the next fashion week in New York, is my dream come true," Roitfeld said. "To a French girl, it’s a big, big dream."

Photographed by Craig McDean and styled by Alex White, One of a Kind features couture looks by Francesco Scognamiglio, Givenchy, Giorgio Armani, Jean Paul Gaultier, Atelier Versace, Valentino, Chanel, Dior and Oscar de la Renta.
