I have worn glasses since I was four years old and growing up in the eighties you can imagine what that looked like. These days getting a good looking pair of glasses is much easier and a lot more fun. One of my favorite parts about getting a new pair is trying on different ones until you find the right one for you. Well, Warby Parker allows you to do just that in the comfort of your own home and for every pair you purchase they send a pair to someone in need through one of their non-profit partners.

Splurge Or Save: Distressed Denim Shorts

For me this summer is all about the denim short. There are so many variations of them that I had to decide what characteristics where important to me. I am currently loving distressed boyfriend shorts with a light wash, and thats just what I found. These Rag & Bone pair are fantastic but with a price tag of over $200 I quickly looked for alternatives. I will gladly be saving with this pair from American Eagle. So tell me are you saving or splurging on this summer staple? Also, what shorts are you loving for summer?

Layering Sequin Stripes & Dots

This outfit actually came together on its own. I purchased the dotted blouse a few years back and I just rediscovered it the other day. I had worn it on an interview to teach Computer Aided Drafting when I lived in Jersey. Teaching was always something I had been interested in doing and thankfully I got the job. {cross that off my bucket list}

These booties, sequin striped top and sweater vest were all recent purchases from Ann Taylor and they are quickly becoming my go to pieces. Add my favorite boyfriend jeans from LC and there you have it!

I really enjoy when a garment can conjure old memories... what do you wear that instantly brings you back?

DIY: Curling Wand

I have been looking for a curling wand for the longest time and just couldn't justify the difference in price. When I saw this tutorial there was definitely a sigh of relief and a why didn't I think of that moment. I bought this iron and am loving its transformation.

Splurge or Save: Bow Flats

When I go shopping I always say.. I have limits and standards. Limits to how much I'm willing to pay for something and standards with the quality of product I'm purchasing. With that said I give you Splurge or Save.

Both flats have glittery bows, yet one is suede and the other is leather. Would you spend $250 on the Tory Burch or save $160 and get the Steve Maddens? {also DIY} Can you tell which is which?

Eating: Eggplant Parmesan

I LOVE eggplant and the fact that it's about 20 calories and 3 grams of fiber per cup makes it that much better! Eggplant is delicious grilled, fried, sautéd, baked, however you make it... I'll probably eat it. Last night I made Eggplant Parmesan and although I don't have a recipe for you I do have a few swaps that I think make it healthier. Come to think of it I never looked at a recipe for this meal I just kinda made it.

1. I do fry the eggplant in coconut oil because of all of its healing qualities. Its has a great mild taste and makes your kitchen smell like a vacation.

2. Instead of breadcrumbs I use Fiber One {yes, the cereal} and at 60 calories and 14 Grams of Fiber per serving you'll be happy to make the switch. I take the cereal and put it in my food processor until it looks like... well crumbs. {I also use this on chicken but that's another time}

3. In place of marinara sauce that can have far too many calories and fat I use canned tomatoes. {I get petite diced} Did you know tomatoes are one of the few ~~fruits~~ foods that don't loose nutrients in the preservation process and at about 30 calories and 1.5 grams of fiber per serving why not. {sometimes I put in the food processor when I don't want it chunky}

4. Lastly I use cheese with part skim milk and only do a top layer to cut back on calories.

The weather here in Florida isn't as cold as up north but we did have a few cold days in a row last week. Once I saw this cape in a magazine I knew I had to have it for these cooler days. It is so comfortable and since its a sweater I can wear it casually or dressed up. {love that} These jeans are somewhat old. I got them when LC's {yes Lauren Conrad} line first came out in Kohl's and they were meant to be ankle length but since I am only 5'1" They were the perfect. {perfect petite length} They are still one of my favorite jeans. And lastly these booties you first saw here and I still love them so!!

I have had a relationship with leopard print for quite some time now and I must say its getting pretty serious. I really love how it can bring interest to an otherwise boring outfit. Pumpkin Seed Dried Cherry Trail Mix

I don't know about you but I am always on the go. Most of the time I cant stop to eat so I made this trail mix as a snack to have with me. I've been trying to eat healthier snacks because that's when I cheat the most and this trail mix hit the spot.

I used this recipe and not only was it super easy to make its delicious {in a singing voice} and ridiculously addicting. Even my husband enjoys it {minus the cherries} and he's anti-health food, or so he thinks. I've been switching out ingredients little by little and he's finding things to be more delicious than before.

It was also my first time using Grade B Maple Syrup and let me say its like caramel. YUM!!!

With the heat index at 111 degrees its no surprise I am thinking of cooler temperatures, hence these boots. Sadly I didn't buy them in time to get my size and although I have looked at many similar pairs, these have my heart.

I love everything about these boots and can envision wearing them with a pair of skinny jeans a loose fitting top and a beautiful statement necklace.

Coral + Cargo Jacket

I really love this lightweight dress with it feminine details and geometric pattern. Its bright coral hue is a great contrast to this casual army green cargo jacket and nude sandals. I don't particularly feel comfortable too dressed up so I try to mix casual and dressy to find a balance and be able to take my looks wherever the day takes me.

To complete this outfit I kept it simple with a locket that was a gift from my Godparents a couple of years back.

I go to meetings all the time and really love dressing up for them since I'm usually pretty casual on a daily basis. This post is basically a bunch of my favorite things mixed together to form an outfit.

I started with this pencil skirt from Ann Taylor... I actually have a few in different colors and really love how comfortable they are with its stretchy material. Stretch is key in my bottoms since my hips need more give than my waist. There is also no bulging since the fabric hugs your body. LOVE!

I also decided to pair these burgundy pumps (seen here in black) with the navy in my blouse and I really love how it turned out.

This necklace originated as a Christmas gift and I loved it so much I had to order one for myself (jewelry = free shipping + 180 day return policy)

I don't usually match my belt to my bag but I couldn't resist since they were one of the first gifts my husband got me when we first started dating almost nine years ago. He was the one who introduced me to this brand and has helped my collection to grow over the years. (lets just say bag shopping has never been the same)

Patent Bow Peep

I am always on the hunt for new shoes and patent leather is so pretty when done correctly. I had a pair of black patent leather kitten heel pointy toe booties.. let me just say that was far too much patent leather for me. Although I had only worn them once { feeling very uncomfortable, by the way} I just gave them to the poor the other day and in these came... hows that for a second chance.

Now these peep toe patent leather pumps on the other hand are the most feminine pair of shoes I own. The color is also very taupe {taupe = perfection} and that bow just makes me feel like I can do anything while wearing them.

And, if I didn't have you at new shoes.. how about I got them from Ann Taylor for less than $15.

White Eyelet + Ruffles

Simple summer outfit + a pop of color with my accessories. I wanted a pair of espadrilles I could wear with comfort and I found it while Mothers Day shopping. I'm also gravitating towards lower heels at the moment. (good thing since i amlost broke my pinky toe a couple of weeks ago and it still hurts with pressure on it)

This dress does remind me of a bed set I had as a child except it was a soft pink and was covered in eyelet.

Can't Get Enough

I am a huge fan of SATC and can't get enough of not only the clothes and witty humor... but the interior spaces. I love how there is a balance between feminine and masculine in Carrie & John's {Mr Big} apartment and how her clothes are slowly taking over his side of the closet. I would take it all, the furniture, the accessories.. the clothes!!!

My Bookcase

Due to the fact I am addicted to home and style books I'm pleased to finally have a place to put them. The sketch on the wall is from when we were dating, actually picked up from a street vendor in the city. {when we lived in NY} and Tiffany candle stick holders {a wedding gift from a girlfriend} alongside a five dollar lamp I purchased at Walmart. This bookcase is a nice place to display not only books but things we have collected along the way.
