Product Review: Organic Natural Soap (Cyleina)

A few days before the package arrived, I checked out Gloria Rosa’s site to see what kind of soap I was expecting. After reading all about organic soaps and it’s natural benefits for our skin, I was pretty excited to try it out when the package arrived on my doorstep.

You may be a little sceptical about using a facial and body soap that is bought online (I was too, to be frank), but after browsing through Gloria Rosa about the specifications on each soap, I was convinced that it was a good soap.

The site provides you enough, if not more, information about the kind of soap that you will be buying. You are after all going to be using it on your face, and they did a good job at making me feel like their soap is something that I would like to buy.

First impression

These soaps came in a normal brown envelope. After tearing apart the envelope, I found three different soaps, each carefully put in small transparent plastic ziplocks and labelled. The sizes of the soap were slightly smaller than half the size of my palm, but I was informed that the sample product I received was a quarter the size of the normal product. So you definitely don’t have to worry about getting a small soap.

Not only that, I also found a cute little card with a ribbon and an animated girl on it that said “Hi beautie, Happy Soaping!” which did make me smile. Who doesn’t like to receive a warm little greeting in their package?

I received Tomato, Rice Bran and Black Pearl soap. All of them look like normal facial bars of soap. Tomato was pink in colour, Rice Bran was a lovely shade of light brown and Black Pearl black. There are many other kinds that are available at Gloria Rosa like Oats & Honey, Green Tea, Grape Seed, Shea Butter, Apple & Cinnamon, Triple Citrus and Papaya Goat’s Milk.

How does it smell like?

And now for the smelling test! Each and every one of the soap smells delightfully good. Tomato smells like a candy, Rice Bran smells like a bar of chocolate or a cup of hot chocolate, which I was very fond of, and Black Pearl has a refreshing minty smell. All of them smell good enough to eat!

I showed them to a couple of my friends who were there, and both of them loved them as well. So in my opinion, this product sends a very good first impression. It didn’t look sloppy and messy, it looked very promising.

What is it made of?

As a smart buyer, we would like to know what’s in the product that we’re going to use on our skin. Don’t worry, you can get all the information on your soap at their site.

Gloria Rosa’s natural soaps are made using skin-loving natural ingredients that acts as an excellent natural cleanser. It moisturizes, soothes and makes your skin healthy.

Many commercial soaps, shower gels and cleanser products contain preservative and chemicals that can cause dryness, rashes and irritation to your skin. Not only that, some of them are also not enviromental friendly. With natural soaps, you’re sure that you’re using something that is soft on your skin and also the environment.

What is it like?

The different kinds of soap has different beautifying benefits.

Tomato helps to counter the ageing effects, cleanses & tightens pores and gets rid of pimples & acne.
Rice Bran is anti-aging, removes dead skin & blemishes while retaining moisture and fights pimple causing germs (and also good for quick drying of pimples).
Black Pearl contains ingredients that whitens your skin tone, lightens dark spots and delays wrinkle formation.

The soaps lather up quite easily. I liked that it leaves a fresh and clean feeling, especially Black Pearl. The soaps didn’t dehydrate my face, it cleanses my skin but kept it feeling moist.

I had quite an amount of blemishes and blackheads to start with. After about two weeks of using the soap, I find that it did a fairly good job drying up my pimples. Blemishes were less visible, but blackheads were tough to get rid of. Also, I noticed that my face was less oily. It remained oil-free for a quite a long period of time which is a plus!

I had experienced no irritation while using Gloria Rosa’s soap and it does the job pretty well.

Tips

Cut the bar of soap into smaller cubes so that you could prevent the whole soap from getting wet, so that your soap will last longer.
Natural soaps normally have shorter shelf life; they would last around a year or two as they don’t contain artificial preservations.
These Cyleina soaps are also suitable to use for your whole body.
If you’re thinking of giving these soaps as a lovely present for your loved ones, you only have to pay an additional RM1/RM1.50 and they will wrap it up for you and also include a card.
