And we mean “good” in the fashion sense of the word – whether they’re a couple or not, well – we’re a little skeptical. After all, there’s box office receipts at stake here, so why wouldn’t they play up a flirtation rumor? But he’s in brand new Gucci, and he cleans up real well – as we saw at the Oscars this past weekend. The man knows how to wear a suit. Notice how the grey metallic of his Gucci works well with her very short metallic mini and black conservative jacket. The mini makes the jacket a LOT less conservative. Those are Jimmy Choo sandals propping her up, or Gerard would be towering over her. And of course, “The Bounty Hunter” opens this weekend.

Christina Ricci Checks Out the Fall 2010 Miu Miu Show in Paris

Prada and Miu Miu are both owned by Miuccia Prada and her husband Patrizio Bertolli, so there’s a lot of crossover. Like fashion devotee actress Christina Ricci wearing some of the new fall plaid Prada 2010 pieces to the Miu Miu show, which happened in Paris yesterday. Prada was in Milan the week before. Not often you get to see those fall 2010 pieces out and about so fast. Lucky for Christina, she’s so tiny, she can fit into sample size – and probably wore the new Prada pieces that were on the models last week. Ricci wore a Prada sleeveless paillette covered multi-hued plaid dress with black silk duchesse pumps. When arriving to the show, Christina also wore a Prada green and black plaid wool coat with crystal epaulettes and color. Tres tres chic.

Oscar Beauty Report: Eyebrows!

The thicker brow is back in a big way! We’ve even been reading about dermatologists and hair experts who are doing hair transplants on brows – particularly on women who’ve over tweezed them, or older women, since a thick brow is a sign of youth – and brows decrease in thickness as one ages. Anastasia Soare, our favorite Hollywood brow guru, was everywhere throughout the Oscars – and tonight, March 10 at 8pm on the CW, she will be doing the brows on “America’s Next Top Model” – tivo it! Meanwhile, last week, Oprah Winfrey herself popped into Anastasia’s Beverly Hills location on Bedford Drive to get her brows done in private. Jennifer Lopez saw Anastasia right before the Oscars, and Penelope Cruz saw her the actual morning of the Oscars, over her breakfast with Javier Bardem. Pregnant “Precious” actress Paula Patton saw her, too – while Penelope and Jennifer get high arches, Paula gets a more medium one. And a few days before the Oscars, Anastasia hosted an Oscar suite with spa services at her new location in Brentwood at 11933 Wilshire Blvd near Bundy. It included jewelry by Kimberly McDonald (whose jewels were on Michelle Pfeiffer at the Oscars), and 3 top LA plastic surgeons – Raj Kinodia, Frank Ryan and Garth Fisher – are so enamored of Anastasia’s eyebrow prowess, they came to celebrate as well, with fashion and beauty editors, Entertainment Tonight, and stylists to the stars. Nicole Richie’s Personal Chic at the Oscars

We haven’t talked about Nicole Richie’s metallic butterfly sleeved low back Reem Acra metallic gown at the Oscars – and we have to admit, we took a long time to really get it. Because Nicole ALWAYS looks chic and bohemian, we’re used to her showing up flawless and always consistently and quietly wearing her own personal style, no matter what the occasion. Then we studied the dress and her look – and realized she pulled off the nearly impossible: by NOT going too far, not giving up her own style, and by really remaining true to herself. She didn’t wear lipstick, she wore a simple ballerina hairdo, and the dress – silver metallic with bits of gold and bronze – must have been heavy with all that beading, but she floated down the carpet in it. Interesting that a woman who’s so tiny and in such great shape chose to only expose her beautiful back – but Nicole is a true fashion girl and gets that it’s more chic to surprise than flaunt. Meanwhile, Nicole’s chic stylist Simone Harouche worked with Miley Cyrus for the Oscars this year, and we were shocked at how just pretty and lovely and girlish Miley looked in her satin Jenny Packham corset and A line ballgown skirt. The skirt was not too poufed, so instead of going rocker chick – or princess – either of two extremes she’s played out – she just looked pretty and young and even a bit sexy, but not too. The TOTALLY right place for her to be. Her best look ever. Jenny Packham is a British eveningwear designer who’s had representation in Los Angeles for about five years now, and she’s a good choice for a young woman.

BEAUTY FEATURING SARA PAXTON

Green-eyed beauty Sara Paxton has been a muse of mine for a few years now, I’ve glammed her for “The Last House on the Left” premiere and countless photoshoots. I’m very excited about Spring and wanted to give you a little sneak peak on what will be very strong this Spring, making a statement with your eyes and lips and definitely implementing color. If green isn’t your color of choice try beautiful shades of blue or in Sara’s case, lilacs, lavenders and pinks. For those who love to stick with their neutral browns adding a touch of color to even a neutral palette can really brighten it up.

Sara’s makeup is basically a chocolate smoky eye, a pinky peach cheek and lip. I took a beautiful lilac purple palette and a damp eye shadow brush, blended a wash of the lilac cream shadow and the chocolate shadow. This created a look that was still warm but the touch of purple gave it a bit of vibrancy. I’ve applied this same technique with a chocolate cream base before; you can use purples, greens, plums, rust, and burgundy highlights. I think this Spring you are definitely going to be seeing a lot of color on the runway as well as the red carpet events this season.

Soho House Finally Opens in Los Angeles

We watched the Oscars at a Mercedes-Benz sponsored party at L.A.’s new Soho House on Sunday night. The British and NY based Soho House – in NYC, it’s on Ninth Avenue in the Meatpacking district, and hosts a restaurant, screening rooms, pool tables, bars and meeting areas for its private membership (NY edition in our photo here) – has taken up temporary residence in L.A. around the Oscars for years. But this time, it’s for real – that’s what the manager told us. Waldo Fernandez, famed decorator to the stars, told us he brought in the furniture for the events this week, but will procure permament fixings for the club, at the top of 9200 Sunset, which opened officially on Monday after the Oscars. It’s got fabulous views, a huge marble fireplace, a wood lined bar, and a great outdoor terrace with heat lamps for parties and screenings. At the Mercedes Benz screening party on Sunday, we mingled with stylists Magda Berliner and Tanya Gill; actress Perrey Reeves, Cameron Silver – who helped put Kathryn Bigelow in her Boucheron earrings at the Oscars – Andy and Jodi Wing, eyebrow queen – who had just come from doing the eyebrows of Penelope Cruz and Jennifer Lopez for the Oscars – Cheryl Tiegs, Julia Sorkin, and a lot more of L.A.’s coolest residents – who no doubt will soon be Soho House members. Monique L’hullier Dresses Kristen Stewart and Susan Bridges for the Oscars

There were not that many ladies in black at the Oscars for 2010 – and Carey Mulligan’s black Prada crystal gown doesn’t coat, because the fabric was embossed, shiney and dabbed with tiny objects and sparklers. But both Kristen Stewart – Hollywood’s new Goth girl – and Susan Bridges, wife of Oscar winner Jeff, donned chic black and looked elegant and classy – due to the shapes of the black dresses they wore. That’s because Monique L’hullier, who made both gowns, is excellent at fit – and texture. Both gowns had texture and shape which added so much to their visuals. In the case of Kristen, the dress was very mermaid fishtail, and for the first time on a stage, she looked rather sexy – and even, dare we say, feminine.
But true to her nature, she kept her hair pulled back and wore little makeup – and that’s what made the dress look modern. It shows the range of black: it can be very young and rocker-y, or more stately and chic and grown up.

Cameron Diaz Does Double Duty in Champagne Metallic Looks at the Oscars

We are wavering on Cameron Diaz’s Oscar look this year. She usually goes messy and undone, with messy hair – or very very sexy. This is her image – hot chick with hot bod. So for her to suddenly emerge in “princess” mode – in the biggest, most old-school ballgown of the Oscars, by Oscar de la Renta – with red lips and perfectly waved hair – well, it was too much of a shock. We couldn’t even see her figure, let alone imagine it. It was like she was angling for something – to suddenly be seen as a good girl or a young mom? Then she did double duty (as just a few other stars did – like Jennifer Lopez) – changing for the Vanity Fair party into a same-color cocktail dress, also very demure for her: not short, not low cut. What’s up with Cameron Diaz’s grown up act? We get the feeling she’s trying to be taken “seriously” – and going a little too far. Cameron, bad girl suits you MUCH better – even if it’s only a stylistic choice. And is it US, or was her hair suddenly MUCH longer for the VF party at the Sunset Tower Hotel?
