Well, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week has officially come to a close and I’ve gotten so inspired by all the amazing street style I was able to see as part of the Timex Style Watch initiative as a Roving Reporter. Let’s review the top trends spotted so you can steal their style!

I’m absolutely in LOVE with the neon brights trend that was spotted in the tents! Everyone’s vivid and cheerful hues made for a really cheery color palette for what can otherwise be a sea of black.

Hence, I am turning to my three favorite products from my beloved Molton Brown this weekend to help me relax. Here they are, sitting on my sink and ready to rock. They are in no particular order (but with plenty of love) as follows:

Molton Brown Rok Mint Hand Wash ($28) – People, this new hand wash is utterly transformative when it comes to  delightful, happy cleansing. Anyone who has ever used a great hand wash knows that the experience of a beautiful scent makes getting clean even more beautiful, and this hand wash delivers like Domino’s. This woodsy-scented wonder combines fermented rok-radish with a touch of mint, basil and just a hint of black currant. It’s unisex, it’s amazing and it’s a necessity for the side of your sink, period.

Molton Brown Relaxing Yuan Zhi Bath and Shower ($30) – Incredibly moisturizing, this is the way to soothe the savage soul and to get your mind to calm down. It combines the combined fragrances of vanilla, ylang-ylang and rose help to calm the senses paired with yuan zhi, a plant that grows wild in southern China that’s used to balance energies and soothe your spirit. Mango oil hydrates like no other. I plan on being up to my neck in a tub full of this in about an hour.

Molton Brown Desert Bloom Intensive Foot Rescue ($27) – Been on your feet all day or, in my case, recovering from two weeks of running in really high heels? Awesome – this is the foot cream you’ve been begging for. It contains Mexican desert candelilla plant wax to help replace lost moisture and to keep those hard patches of skin from forming as well as plant cellulose extract to soften and condition your poor feet. Slathering this on once I’m in bed once I determine my feet will not hit the floor again until morning.

If you’re not a child of the 70′s and 80′s, this phrase may mean nothing to you. If you were alive to know this infamous line from Kenny Rogers’ famous song, “The Gambler,” you know exactly where I’m going with this.

Eventually, you’ll see that you were holding all the cards to begin with, that you didn’t admit defeat…

When fashion threw that out along with “you can’t wear white after Labor Day,” all bets have been off when it comes to matching ANYTHING in the fashion world, and the same goes for beauty trends. Well, matching is out again when it comes to the beauty trends spotted backstage at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Anything and everything goes when it comes to texture and style. Let’s take a look at my top three favorites:

Disheveled bedhead – ladies, texture is IN for fall, so be prepared for slept-in hair with gorgeous ornamentation and slight twists (rolled-under faux bobs a la Rodarte, loose side ponytails at Rebecca Minkoff.)

Sooty smoky eyes – the difference between these gorgeous eyes (spotted at Carlos Miele and Libertine) is that they’re actually layers of shadow that are meant to reveal gorgeous shimmering shadow underneath a layer of dark shadow above. Therefore, as your makeup wears off during the evening, it reveals a glittering undertone. It’s smart, it’s gorgeous and it’s happening.

Adult nail art manicures – One of my favorite trends of this season and next is the French manicure from Rebecca Minkoff that took three colors to create – a base coat over the nail and then two lines at the tip to create a double French effect. Just look at the effect it created! So cool!

How do you just pick ONE watch to go with all these trends? Easy: you go for something classic with just a hint of twist. Most city dwellers have a ton of basic black in our wardrobes and we seriously love it. It’s versatile, slimming when used the right way and it saves hundreds of dollars on dry cleaning bills. Fashion people especially love black during Fashion Week because you can look edgy and repeat items over and over again without them showing obvious wear and tear. Plus, when you’re racing to shows and working 14 hours days, who has the time to think about your wardrobe?

This is why these two gals caught my attention because this is how black is done in a not-so-basic manner. Add textures and pops of colorful prints (the floral skirt), gorgeous bags and beautiful sunglasses and we’re talking about a great elevation of what could just be another black wardrobe item or two. Basic black? Hmm, maybe not so much.

These gals need watches that are just as versatile as their black wardrobes, versatile timepieces that are chic and fun to wear. I LOVE the Timex Originals 1940’s Dial Inspiration watch with its vintage styling and colorful strap. Throw it on and even if it’s the only pop of color you’re wearing, it’s a good one.

The next time you’re pulling a black wardrobe day, think about adding texture and some pops of color to frame your favorite noir pieces. You’ll give those wardrobe workhorse pieces just the jolt of energy they need. It’s about time.

One of the things you have to love about Nanette Lepore is that she listens to her customers. Reportedly, we wanted pretty shiny beading to come back to her collections and she delivered like Domino’s, kicking off the collection with a reflective curlicue pattern on eye-popping chartreuse that faded into a rich red wine hue. It was game on from there, with all manner of gorgeous dresses, jackets and pants appearing in that color family with that gorgeous motif flying down the runway.

The thing you have to love about Lepore is that she knows the women who wear her clothes so well. She delivered a fitted knit dress with a cutout skirt.

She gave us a smart cropped double-breasted jacket and mini pairing in a herringbone pattern soaked in that same color pattern with a deep cabernet-hued blouse underneath.

She gave us an electric blue dress under a rich black coat for desk-to-dinner impact.

She gave us Marcia Brady funky printed dresses matched with rich pumpkin-hued coats for fun times.

She  ended with metallics for nights we need to simply shine. In short, Lepore gave us a whole wardrobe of clothes that will be there for us anytime we need them for fall. They’re clothes we’ll love and they’ll love us right back. A great collection. Well done.

I find that my personal style aesthetic leans quite a bit toward rocker chick, so I appreciate a lot of where Sophie Kokosalaki is going with Diesel Black Gold as a label. With techno leather and a genius twist on last season’s collection (it’s was as if Freddie Mercury suddenly woke up at J.Crew,) this season was tougher with a tongue-in-cheek touch, starting with a pixelated graphic sweater. It was dark humor, mind you, but most rocker references are.

Graphic sweaters, rough-and-tumble rocker leather jackets, more loose button-down shirts. Actually, her love of menswear as the structure for all nature of looks came through again, with button-down shirts layered under pony hair cropped vests and over tougher layered leather and what looked to be boxer shorts under leopard-printed pony hair shorts. The Diesel Black Gold girl is snagging items from her men, like she wanted something to remember them by, and placing them into heavy rotation with her wardrobe of rocker staples. It works.

And the croc-embossed jacket gave the look a darkly luxurious feel. It felt like you’d fallen into one of those dark clubs in Amsterdam, with people who’d raided more established closets and seen a bit too much of the dark spirit of the world in clothes that were probably meant for a finer purpose.

Which, my friends, is what makes rock and roll fashion truly magical. Loved the collection and I think I’ll see if I can borrow some of these looks for my own wardrobe. Maybe I can have my own little rock and roll fantasy come fall.

It’s amazing how many of us work out every single day or fastidiously diet for our waistlines, yet we’ll just slap anything on our faces and hope it will work. Folks, the skin is part of your body and you’ve got to work on it to get it to look and feel as good as the rest of you.

Let’s talk about how to get that gorgeous skin in top condition, shall we? Here are my four favorite simple tricks to get your face in top shape:

Always cleanse your face at night – This is ESSENTIAL. Evening is when you’re about to take off all of the dirt and nastiness you’ve accumulated during the day: old makeup, pollutants, stress, etc. Use a great sensitive skin face wash like Simple Skincare Refreshing Facial Wash Gel along with a great toner to balance your skin. Layer on products like corrective serums or treatments, then top it off with a rich, fantastic moisturizer like Simple Skincare Vital Vitamin Night Cream.

Cleanse your face after working out – That post-workout glow might just tempt you to not wash your face, but old sweat and grime gathers on your face and can clog your pores, turning your glow into goo. Carry Simple Skincare Facial Cleansing Wipes with you to the gym and if you can’t take a shower, at the very least use them to wipe your face, neck and décolleté. A tip: if you can’t change, use them to wipe the area around your jog bra to help keep body acne from forming.

Always use eye cream –Preventing lines and wrinkles around the eye is a labor of love. Using Simple Skincare Soothing Eye Balm, apply a pea-sized amount to your ring fingers and pat it in. It might take a couple of seconds, but the patting motion forces your skin to heat up to absorb the cream (it speeds absorption) and dabbing rather than dragging your finger back and forth helps prevent wrinkles and fine lines.

Exfoliate – Dull, dead skin be gone so healthy skin can breathe underneath! Use a gentle exfoliant like Simple Skincare Smoothing Facial Scrub and apply with a light, circular motion to apply to wet skin (it’s your face, not a car, Karate Kid.) Rinse and follow with a great moisturizer.

Follow these steps and you should see great results pretty soon, especially if you’re using such nourishing products. Sensitive skin, dry skin, oily skin – it can all be great skin if you just know how to treat it. It’s just that simple.
